[Q] CM7+DPI+Lapdock? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't believe this has been asked before as I've run a few searches so hopefully someone can help me out. I have a few questions as I'm trying to get the DPI of the phone to automatically change when I plug it into the lapdock on a CM7 rom, so it changes to more of a tablet size for landscape mirroring.
First -- Is there app to easily change the DPI of your phone on one of the CM7 builds w/o rebooting? If so, would it be possible to have the DPI automatically change when plugged into the lapdock? (Maybe using Tasker?)
(I know some of the CM9 builds has DPI changing built in, but I record with the camera enough to justify not switching.)
Second (if above is possible)-- What I would like to happen is have separate phone profiles or home screens; one for when the phone is docked, and a regular one. Is there some kind of app where I could make this work? (I just don't want to keep my phone at tablet DPI when its not docked as everything is just too small, so I figured using different "profiles" or something where I could quickly switch would address that)
I hope I made the questions clear enough, lack of sleep from playing with GenTop2 on a blur rom is taking its toll. Thanks.

No automatic dpi change yet, you have to reboot or it won't take effect. The guys working on CM9 and the kitchen sink project are working on it already.

[Q] Simple Streak, remove landscape.zip

This is probably a stupid question but I can't find the answer in a few searches.
How can I remove the Landscape mode .zip and let my streak use auto rotate again?
I prefer landscape mode for everything except the dialer and Kindle/Google books. With the new Google books update it now uses landscape and is pretty much unusable in my preferred reading method of laying on my side in bed. I would like to try different screen rotation lockers etc. and see if I can find a solution but I realized I don't know how to remove the Landscape mode without completely starting over by flashing the whole rom.
Refresh the ROM

My portrait mode zip should revert it back for you. Both Simple Streak and my Streakin' are based on 354, so the file involved should be the same.
Thank for the suggestion. I tried flashing your portrait.zip a couple of times and nothing happens. Checking and unchecking auto-rotate display my streak still stays on landscape. Maybe the landscape.zip has stronger mojo than yours. XD
Which launcher are you using? Have you checked the settings for it? Is everything about your streak stuck in landscape? On your lockscreen, is the clock oriented for portrait or landscape? The landscape.zip simply copies an edited file to /system/framework. Mine simply copies back the original and I've used it successfully. Maybe there is something else going on.

You're right! Thank you so much. I had Zeam launcher set to not allow rotation also. Unchecking that box after flashing your .zip makes it rotate correctly. Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

[Q] 240dpi let the UI force close. What to do?

Hello everyone,
First of all, I hope this is the right corner and I've collected enough information - I couldn't find anything closely related to my issue.
Now, I've got the first big problem:
Regarding the support of Tablet devices, some apps just don't offer any possibilty to install them. Now, to avoid this problem, I've changed the LCD density to 240dpi.
The Prime is still able to boot normally and everything is working just fine - except for the Launcher: It crashes every 2 seconds and the buttons on the bottom of the screen are cut away just like the one for the app menu in the upper right section so that I've only reached the settings by some tricks so far.
So far, I own my Prime for roughly 1 1/2 months, my Prime is rooted, NOT unlocked and has the most up-to-date firmware installed on it.
Up to now, I tried to factory reset via settings and wipe data with Volume Down + Power button combo.
Apart from that, I think I heard that the dpi settings are to be found in the build.prop file.
Sorry for letting you read this much, but I think this reduces the overall time to spend on it.
I hope that it's possible to get it back working. I miss the Prime experience
Thanks in advance for any help!
Solved!
So, after some hours, I managed to get the Prime back to life by myself:
The build.prop file was the key to success; With some actions in the ADB-Interface and permission changes, it's possible to revert a bad dpi value to default via USB debugging.
If anyone's further interested, I'll try my best to explain how exactly it's working.

Is there a way to disable tablet mode?

I've been playing with various dpi settings on my note (currently running flapjaxx's excellent rom) and I haven't run into any compatibility issues - yet - but I have encountered the tablet mode interface of some of the apps. Is there a way to turn tablet mode off? I'd like to see what the apps look like at 240 dpi using the standard interface.

EDIT: moderator please delete. I should have posted this in the hybrid dpi sticky. I didn't see it because sticky posts are a separate tab in tapatalk.
EDIT TO EDIT: I changed my mind. The hybrid dpi sticky seems to be for a specific ROM, and this is a general question about tablet mode.
Yeah, this is a little confusing. After posting this I decided it should have gone in the Hybrid Q&A sticky thread, but after reading that thread I decided it was a sticky for a specific ROM, so my question wasn't appropriate after all.
SO I'm back to this one (since it hasn't been deleted yet.)
I'm using Flapjaxx's ROM at the moment and I really like it, but when I moved the dpi down to 240 I triggered tablet mode, which is interesting but a little cramped in some applications. So is it possible to disable or block tablet mode?
In my defense I have searched for this, but I may not be using the right key words. I've found a lot of questions about enabling it, and a fair number of questions on how to get apps working while it's on, but only one question on how to block it and it was never answered.
So you want to go back to 320 dpi(phone mode), or do you wanna stay at 240 but still have phone mode? Tablet mode should be 213 dpi.

I want to stay at 240 dpi in phone mode, if I can. Right now I'm seeing the tablet version for my some of my apps.
Gotcha. Misunderstood. Can't help ya there. Sorry.

Ah well. Thanks anyway!
... hm. I'm thinking a little more about what you wrote, and I think I'm confusing terminology here. I saw Tweetcaster display in a multi-column format so I assumed the note was in tablet mode--but it's not, because it's not showing the tablet-style software buttons at the bottom of the screen. Is there some kind of no-man's land between tablet mode and phone mode where the dpi triggers the tablet interface for apps that have it? I guess that's what I want to suppress.
If actual tablet mode is 213 dpi, then technically you're not in tablet mode. Not sure why the apps would see it as tablet mode. Maybe raise the dpi just a hair higher and see what happens? Just a thought.

It doesn't trigger at 280.
It does trigger at 260. Somewhere between the two it gets activated...
I think I'm probably just going to have to live with it or settle for higher dpi setting...

Help updating Razr

Hello, I'm currently using an x912 on 2.3.6, rooted. I'd like to go to ICS, however I have some concerns:
How is the battery life? Having the standard Razr, this is a concern for me
Will I be able to root again? How exactly do I do this? I've also heard the term deodox thrown around, what is that?
How is the keyboard? The one thing that turned me off about MIUI was that the keyboard didn't input a character immediately after you pressing the screen, and that really slowed me down
Finally: how is the lock screen? I use an app to lock my screen at the moment, so I only use the power button half as often. Will I still be able to do that in ics? can I set it to a gesture like I can with ADW, and will it turn the screen off as well?
Thank you for any and all help, I'm just having little luck with google with some of these questions, and the way I understand it it's a one way path. I just really want to make sure that this isn't something that I end up regretting

The battery life is lower in ICS than GB but performance is greater.
In dev section, you can find many root methods that work.
About keyboard, the ICS keyboard have a similar function to the GB, maybe more fast.
Upgrading to ICS is the best choice for RAZR, GB offers a much lower performance.
Sorry for bad english.

The razr utility 1.81 is what i would use to root these days... when it comes to battery life i have experienced better results with ics. Deodex = Apk files have respective odexes that devs use to supposedly save space. Deodexing means you convert it back to a .dex file and put it back inside the apk. This allows you to easily replace files (not having to worry about odexes), but the main point was to deodex services.jar so that you can change all text to different colors (such as the clock color to white) and to deodex services.jar, you need to deodex everything. Hope i helped.. cheers..

[Q] Want to tweak Car Mode a little bit..

Hey there! I was hoping someone much smarter than i figured these things out and was willing to guide me My phone is a motorola atrix 4g (as reference to any reader )
I would like Car Mode to extend the display timeout from normal use to about an hour
Can I change the "Wake Up" phrase, and if so, where/how?
Can I get it to call open other applications other than the 4 default (hoping to add Torque?
Can I add my screens and buttons?
Thank you so much to all for your help!
For keeping your display on, you could use screebl. With that, the phone has to be flat before it goes into sleep.
Check out the lapdock thread, think they're trying to automate screen resolution change when docked. Should be able to work if you set it up right.
Also, if you're on the stock ROM, try Smart Actions app by Motorola. Think they had an option for car dock.

with "IntelliScreen - screen control" app you can set custom screen timeouts for almost any application.
