Ext sd gone but not... - HTC Amaze 4G

When I plug my phone in it only shows HTC storage, no removable disk. But power amp still plays music stored on ext sd. But no file explorer can find it.... How can I format just the ext sd. Or this happen to anyone else? The

Try removing the sd card, use a card reader and format it the normal way. After its done, try putting it back in and see

Of course I just moved can't find my little card reader. What about the sd card format from the recovery? Or is that just the internal memory?

Can you get a logcat of the boot sequence? Look for 'vold' and see if there's any mounting errors. Oh wait, you said you can listen to the music on the card. It must be mounted ok, then. Shouldn't have to reformat the card. Can you access it from the recovery? If you can and if you are rooted and installed a custom recovery, you could mount the sd card and copy the contents to a PC.
At the minimum, you should get a card reader!

Oh, there got to be a lot more lines with vold, and since we have two cards, internal and external, you should look for that as well.
But, I just thought maybe your music is stored in the internal card so that you could access the music files even though your external card is broken?
Also, did you try mounting the sd card in the recovery, yet?

I can't access music at all turns out...
How do I mount in recovery?
I can't access extsd in recovery

Do you have access to another sd card? Let's eliminate hardware problems first!
Try a different card in the phone or if you can't, try your card in someone else's phone/computer.

[Q] Possible Phone Brick/Phone Not Working

Earlier today, I realized that my phone doesn't recognize my SD card. I tried taking it out and putting it back in with no luck. Then I decided to re-flash the rom with ClockworkMod Recovery but it requires the sd card to flash which mine does not work. I also tried downloading twrp2.0 but again, the bootloader won't recognize it because it's not on the SD card. Lastly, I factory reset the phone hoping it would format the sd card, but now every time I unlock the phone, there is just a black screen. Any suggestions?
How did you factory format it?
From when the phone is turned on, or on recovery?
What you should do is get the memory card and stick it on your computer. It might be corrupted or something alike.
Once on your computer, format it to fat/fat32.
On windows:
Go on my computer, wait for memory device to be detected, and right click it.. then format.
On Mac:
Open: "Disk Utility" by either going to "utilities" on applications folder, or by searching for it on the spotlight search bar.
Then click umm.. im not on my mac now, google it.
After you do all that, put the ROM and the Recovery.
Then flash away.
Hope this helps.

Well, the phone says it can't mount the SD Card, even when I placed a different one in so I think it's an issue with the phone or rom.

take out the external sd card and do a nandroid on the internal sd card...then restart the phone and save you're nandroid somwhere safe...This is not going to solve your SD issue, but you'll atleast have a backup copy of your system if you ever have to get a new one... also if you have an micro sd to sd adaptor, try to stick the sd card in your computer (assuming you have an SD reader) and try to format it that way fat32 i believe.

I did the Nandroid Backup and I do have a USB with a port to insert a Micro SD Card, but it doesn't show that I plugged anything in. It may be a problem with the SD Card, but I also have another 8 Gig one that it won't mount or recognize.
when u go to settings-storage...what do you see? do you see mount/unmount sd card? or u cant even go to settings?
Stop replying and start listening.
You need to RE-format your SD card to FAT32.

Would it be possible to flash twrp through the bootloader or through fastboot without the SD, or can I flash a rom directly from clockwork recovery without an SD Card?

You can flash a recovery without an sdcard.
With the device in bootloader mode:
fastboot flash recovery c:\recoverydirectory\recoveryname.img

Running CM7 From External SD but have SD card Error

I'm running CM7 from an external SD Card but have a SD card Error in the notification bar while running. I also have a large portion of the card as dead space. Any suggestions?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1005633
1) Read this link 1st and make sure your card is fast enough!!
If it's not a Sandisk card, good luck!
2) Do a complete format of the card, followed by a sector-by-sector scan to check for errors if you really want to know if there's any problems there that happen to exist.

Haven't added anything to it after making the CM7 boot disk cause I'm not sure how with it partitioned 4 ways. I am able to download apps ect and data is saved even if I reboot the device.

External SD Card won't mount?

So I had a 16 gb external sd card in my rezound, realized that I would like more space so I bought a 32 gb card. The new card worked for about a week and no longer works. I have an sd card exploring app and it sees the files on the card but my phone does not even recognize the card is inserted.
Another thing to mention is that with the old card, my phone would not display the available space on it or give me the options to unmount and mount. Now when I put both of these cards in an sd card reader and insert them into my desktop the computer does not see that a card has been inserted. I have checked it with other mini SDs that I have and the computer sees them, so I don't know what gives! Any ideas??
P.S. I am running on the ICS 3.14.605.10 RUU
Sounds like you have a bad card, can you format it?

Well the weird thing is that both the stock and the card I bought are doing the same thing. And I tried formatting, but since I can't view the cards on my computer or phone I have no way of formatting.

If you have TWRP or Amon, mount USB storage and format from your computer.

I have the exact same problem. I tried switching cards and formatted the new one before I put everything on it. It still is missing after every reboot...Annoying, but at least it's still there....
Not sure if this is the issue but it may help to try:
If you are on GB firmware and running an ICS rom, download and flash this in recovery. It is a GB firmware patch and after you flash it, sd card mounting problems are fixed.

Why do you want to re-name the SD card?
Unmount and remount the SD card, perhaps? Or format via recovery, if rooted?
Is it SDXC or SDHC?
SDXC might cause problems sometimes - exFAT, FAT32 and all that jazz.

no external storage

Flashed this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2235446
I am getting this error of No external storage available on all the apps that require internal storage e.g. In Gallery, it says no external storage available, same in camera, explorer e.t.c
Have I done something wrong?
Do you have an sd card?
I do have an sd card, currently, the player only works with the sd card.
somehow the sd card is being treated as the internal sd card? this is completely weird. As soon as I take out the sd card, it fails to recognize the internal card.

1 can you go setting--- memory-- check what is available and send the scren shoot.
2 when you wipe in recovery no any strange message at the screen? like can't read or open mmcblk0p 15....
I got this same kind of problem but i dont have and external Sd, but i want to save the pictures on the phone it self is there a way to change this? Because when i open the camera ap it says, no external memory.
I had the same issue
I had the same issue.
Go into recovery mode and try to mount emmc. That's what my external SD was renamed.
It was fine when I loaded the ROM but it flaked out after I loaded a different kernel.
I would recommend using X-plore from the Play Store to navigate your files. It's the best way to explore, move etc.
Try format SD-card:
Go to CWM -> mounts and storage -> format sdcard
