I'm lucky if my battery lasts half the day. I checked Battery Usage and Cell Standby is at 65%! I'm assuming that this is abnormally high.. My previous Optimus T broke and I just got a replacement sent about a month ago. Before the first one broke, the battery would run all day, and this is the same battery that powered my first phone. I've tried running the battery dead multiple times, but it did nothing.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
-Adam

I'll check that out.. The signal in my apartment can be crappy at times, but it's the same place the my first Optimus resided; it had great battery left. Is it possible that I was sent a messed up replacement phone?
Well, the only thing you can do is set your network to 2G or leave it to airplane mode when you are not using it. Other than that you can't do anything about it.

So I just checked my phone here at work and it's been off charger for 2 hours and is already down to 80% battery. The biggest battery drainer is "Cell Standby" since the phone has mostly just been sitting there.
does anyone know why cell standby is draining the battery? I though cell standby would just be maintaining a connection, but is it anything more than that?
Running lean kernal/Das BAMF 1.5
If you select Cell standby it says its "Battery used by cell radio". I believe its the amount of time searching for a signal. Are you in a bad 4g area and your phone is constantly switching between 4g and 3g? It is odd for that to be the biggest battery drain but I guess if you have not had your screen on at all than its not too much of a surprise. Remember that under battery stats all of those percentages and information is based on how much battery you have used so far so it may say 30% of it has been used by the cell standby but that only means that 30% of the 20% battery life you have used.
If you click on cell standby you will see the answer to your battery drain. I bet the without a signal percentage will be up and the cause of the drain.

Its most likely a radio signal issue, as said. What kernel are you on?

Kernel has nothing to do with the radio so that doesnt really matter.

Mine is always number 2, right behind display. However, my time without signal is always 0%. I live in a good 4G area, but do work in an area where I bounce around a lot. In it's infancy I expect LTE to give people fits with this. I don't think it's that out of the ordinary.
Hi all, after a lots of pots from a lots of users claiming their battery is great or their battery is ok and even that their battery is a crap... I decided to open this thread to share my opinion with you all and see how many of you think like me.
Here it comes:
For me, BATTERY LIFE is how GOOD-OK-BAD our battery behaves and how much it lasts WHILE USING THE PHONE.
Having looooong periods of deep sleep is just the Stand-By 640hrs that Samsung itself offers with its ACE.
Under heavy use, ACE is supposed to last at least 11hrs using 2g and 6hrs using 3g.
Me just quoting Samsung and GSM ARENA

If you do the math, most of the people that claim to have a HUGE battery life have their phones on DEEP SLEEP (Stand By) MOST OF THE TIME, plus they don't use 3g but WI-FI.
So, when they say: HEY BRO, I unplugged my phone 1 day ago and my battery is still at 30% and then they put a graphic on it you can see that about 20 hours the phone have been deep sleeping. Then you use it and PUFFF!!! A huge percent down...
I don't know if you know what I mean, english is not my first languaje... But what I'm trying to say is...
Battery life is most of the times the same WHEN USING THE PHONE!
Dude stop worrying too much abt battery... Simple battery rule. Charge it when its less than 20%... Let it drain by its own.. Then charge again... There s something called life explore it...
WOW!! What a superb reply... Great, wonderful, splendid...
You're so wise... OMG I can't even believe you took time to reply my request... Thank you Oh Lord!!!
Sigh!
My battery drains so fast on my home wi-fi I tend to browse whilst charging for most of the time (I'm sure it's not recommended). Wish I knew where people get the improved stats for wi-fi over 2g/3g from.
Of course samsung is gonna claim great battery life, they have to sell.
On my experience, i use the phone constantly with 3g for whatsapp and music all the time. I still charge it every night and thats ok. Its a smartphone, a micro computer. Unplugg your lap top and see how long it lasts! If you cannot get a day of battery, youre using your phone too much. The biggest battery hog is your screen, turn it off when not using, lower brightness, dont use 3g and 2g at the same time. Otherwise, get a stupidphone and marvel at your 5 day battery life.

The point about WiFi/3G/2G and battery stats is that if the phone isn't having to work hard to get its connection then it won't drain so much battery. So for example, I have almost no 3G coverage and no WiFi hotspot for miles, urgo if I have them both on the phone will search hard for them and drain battery. I have only 2G allowed and that works for me.
Technically if I had a WI-FI hotspot I should use that because it should provide better coverage than either 2G or 3G, and so the phone won't have to work so hard to get connectivity.
How strong is the signal for your WI-FI, is it very changeable?
I sit about 2m below it and it locks in seconds, varies between 2 and 3 bars on indication. Perceived drain is battery falls from 100% to charge warning in 3 - 4hrs approx.

Data switches off automatically when you are connected to the internet thru wi-fi!
my ace drains battery fastest when i play games, when playing any game 10-15 minutes my battery drains for like 10%
i have good battery life ,,about 36hours when using wifi
the problem of my battery life only happens when the phone is on. I've tried turning it off for a few days and the battery held up too long. So my advice for the battery last long, its always keep the phone off, and use it to shoot on someone's head (devs?). You may even withdraw the battery, lasts longer without recharging.
I suggest that someone makes a rom that doesnt work and keep the phone off, and we will have long battery life
Please hit tanks if I didnt help you

Battery on Ace just sucks. It's that simple. If you can't accept that, then it's time to get a newer phone.

Battery on ace sucks. Everyone knows that. But it is pointless keeping it off. If you're free, make use of it ! And BTW, even a boot drains its battery such an ill fate.

In my case, I've had the best battery life duration with StockRom Lite, AceOne (this seems to fly in my phone).
The AceOne rom seems to "survive" between 16- 18 hours in my chase listening music, checking some emails with 3G (not 16 hours, time by time).
I've installed a rom made by Nathan (TouchWiz) and I was worried about the battery's duration, but since I've installed nims kernel it works better, I'm gonna view how it works
Been noticing that my gs3 uses a lot of standby power. Some times up to 30-40% how can I prevent this? I am rooted and I run advance task manager

is your phone on standby a lot? the meter is the % of your used-up battery that has been used by that process. i.e. if your phone sits on standby for "30%" and the battery goes down by 10%, 30% of that battery decrease (3%) is from standby.
gentlyr from
based on how you use and how often you use the phone, it may be normal.
for example, i'm at 30% on standby but my phone has been on for 5.5 hours and i have 80% charge. most of my usage today was checking emails and reddit but very sparingly.
Are you in a plce where you have weak signal? When this happens, your radio/baseband struggles to find a stable connection or signal, thus sucking more juice out of your bettery and causing your phone to be on standby mode a lot more.
Flash my ROM - here, prob fixed!

This. With weak connection your phone will be using more battery to find a signal. Check your status to see what % of the time you are without signal.
I was down to 18% after 16 hours with 34% use on standby. I use advance task manager. I belive its custom rom time. I want jellybean. So I must wait.

It happened to me. Your battery is dying.
I bought a new one from Mugen Power and now I reach 2 days instead of 2 hours at same usage.

When they die, they die. $10 off ebay got me an oem replacement. Heavy gaming I get a half day to full, depends on game. Regular usage gets almost 2 days worth. With the new one I try not to make it a habit to charge it while over 20% battery and regularly let it die out on its own and use fera's technique to keep it conditioned. Had the same battery for a year now.
Hello, all! I have recently acquired an HTC Droid DNA (Verizon) and it is S-OFF, Unlocked, and has a custom hboot to remove the red warning text. I have not yet activated it with Verizon, though, because the screen is completely shattered (screen repair kit coming in the mail), but I have noticed that the battery life is short of horrendous. I let it sit for about 8 hours and noticed that the battery life had gone down roughly 20%. When I checked the battery usage under Settings, I had noticed that 94% was being hogged by "Cell Standby". Is this normal, or will the battery improve once I register it with Verizon?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
I think battery life will improve once you register your phone.
If it possible, switch phone to airplane mode and then check battery life time again.

I noticed the same battery drain before I activated my phone to Verizon. If you notice while using the phone, signal may drop to nothing and a toast will pop up stating "SIM inserted" or something to that effect.
Once I activated, battery drain from cell standby drastically dropped to near nothing.
