Hi all!
I have an hardware issue with my SGS2 - it always show 'on charging' even when physically not. Everything else working perfect. Everybody knows that phone does not go to deep sleep on charging so my battery drains faster.
Is it possible to activate deep sleep on charging or not? Maybe some kernel relating setting...
Have you tried cleaning the usb port.
What rom are you running?

Yes, I disassembly my phone and clean everything near usb connector.
USB connection after this become working, but 'charging' still here.

CM9 for now, but this bug is connected with hardware. I tried MIUI Rom, Sammy - everything the same
Hi,
okay, I've found another thread on this: Phone stuck on USB/charging... very weird
As far as I can see they sent it in because of warranty, maybe you should try that?

Not sure if anyone of you experienced this problem before.
It occurred to me that my charging from socket is so much slower than normal, thus I downloaded current widget to check the current that is charging, and it turns out that it is charging at USB speed, and in my Battery information in Settings, it is displayed as USB charging instead of AC charging. However when I unplugged my phone and plugged it back again, it became AC charging, and the current is back to normal at 999mA.
Had exactly the same, then a Rom flash or something changed it back again! No help I know, but at least you know you aren't going mad!
What do you mean? How did you solve the problem? Flash your rom again?

exactly as I said, I'm not sure when it started happening, or when it stopped as I flash quite a bit, and it also maybe linked to the fact that there did seem to be a dodgy batch of charger/cables, but for now mine seems ok, so really don't know if it was hardware or software
Haha yea it's quite funny. I don't know when it started happening too. Weird problem

try a bit of cable wiggling etc.....I have my old S1 charger and that works fine and always has, so in retrospect it may well be the lead/plug
Going to ask a generic question.
The phone claims to have 'low battery' (DONT SAY A WORD ABOUT A CHARGER, IT HAS BEEN TRIED WITH A FULL BATTERY) and i'm unaware of the condition which caused this phone to be bricked. (Most likely a rooting failure)
I shouted it from an online auction, with 230€ below the market price
The phone can't be put into download mode by the regular way (And i'm unsure if the no-battery usb-force works, haven't got the phone yet)
I was thinking about flashing cwm, doing the wipes, battery log wipe etc. Formatting the system to a state nothing exists apart ODIN mode and after it installing the official new JB rom.
Has anybody got any experience with an situation like this, and how did you fix it?
READ THESE:
It's not a battery fault, another battery has been tried on.
It's not the pins of battery or motherboard. They are clean.
It's not the charger. (Seriously -.- I don't want to state that another battery has been tried to every poster)
The phone just says 'low battery' when trying to: Boot, enter recovery or download mode.
I DON'T HAVE THE PHONE YET.
POST ONLY IF EXPERIENCE. I'm not a noob even if i look like one, seriously. All i'm doing is just asking if anyone else had a problem like this, and how did you fix it. (Don't say use the search bar @ xda, i tried, didn't find anything.)
I think it's something to do with your charger.

Are you kidding me? The phone can't be set into download mode because the software fails. You can't boot it because it lives in a belief of the battery being low. It's not the charger, it's either the board or softwarez.
must be the battery

It's not the battery if another has been tried on.
Does it get confused and freak out thinking it's charging when it's not unplugged or anything like that? I had a similar issue, turned out to be the USB board that had to be replaced. It's a $10 part on ebay if that's the case...

You can't boot it. It thinks the battery is empty even if you put another battery which is full.
Did you try cleaning the usb port and the connection pins of the battery and phone ?
Also try usb jig to go to download mode

You shouldn't ignore checking the usb port as some users had weird issues caused by dirt causing faulty contact. I didn't face it myself but some friends of mine did !

most likely as the device looks 'completely new' It's been bricked by someone. I wasted my money on it, and i'm unsure if i did a good buy. The phone's all clear by the hardware side. (Unsure about the mb tho, could be faulty.)
I'm positive it's either the battery or the charger.

Who's the one ignoring posts? seriously, read the thread.
The usb port should be clean as the seller told it's looking completely new on the outside. (Screen, under battery, jack panel etc.)

If you can't read that it has been tried with two batteries, the original and another which full. Therefore it can't be the charger since it wasn't used when the full battery was in the phone.

THANK YOU SIR for appreciating the time I WASTED to try to help you while you increase you posts count ....
1 . Plug your charger
2 . Try to turn on the screen 30-40 times by pressing the download mode keys
3 . When you successfully enter download mode
4 . Leave your phone for 15-20 min in download mode
5 . This way your battery starts filling.
6 Restart your phone after step 5

Meh, no problem. Just as i need to get my anger management. (Living without Leijonaviina is annoying.)
Got the phone now, no signs of life except "LOW BATTERY!! CAN'T DOWNLOAD!!"
Kernel panic? Could charging the battery on someone elses phone work? And will it respond to a jig? Mostly a general Samsung question
Did the seller dry the phone out properly before he sent it to you?

According to the seller, the phone has failed during a kies update (who the **** updates over kies? OTA ftw)
The phone works good. It's in the same condition he sold it. And it does NOT respond to the USB jig (yes, the jig works)
Hi guys,
I'm having some problems with my S2's USB port. I've been combing the forums to see if I can find something, but no luck. Let me describe the symptoms and everything I tried.
Whenever I plug my phone in, it doesn't show that it's charging, but the battery is getting filled. USB also doesn't work. Rebooting the phone with the power cable plugged in shows that the phone is charging. Doing the same with the USB only made it charge but not work in USB mode. The battery life is also crappy, as the phone never goes into deep sleep (not even with the Deep Sleep app).
First I thought that the USB board might be faulty. I exchanged that (yes, the revision matches). The problem still persisted. I then tried to reflash the device with different versions of stock ROMs (ICS and JB). Same thing. I then tried flashing the Siyah kernel. That solved a small part of it. Restarting the phone while connected to the PC will make the phone be recognized as a USB device. I also installed CM 10.1. Tried it out with the Dorimanx kernel, still nothing.
My next plans are to use the NukeROM script (tried it before, but nothing) and try fiddling with different ROMs. If anyone has any more ideas, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Tudor

Did you ever try to use another, USB cable, USB port or even computer to connect your phone? If not, try this first. It is just to make sure you are not trying to fix the problem on the wrong side of the USB cable
Oh yeah, forgot to mention. Tried multiple ports with multiple cables on multiple PCs.

Awkward, in this case likely to be a hardware problem, but you mentioned it isnt. I never seen something like this.

I could live with the USB thing, but the not going to deep sleep is really a phone killer. The battery only lasts a few hours on idle.

Use BetterBatteryStats then. It will help you find the problem.
over Lioyr
I've been using it (even got the paid version). Doesn't really show anything useful. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, it should show me any problematic apps I have installed. Seeing as how I've been wiping like crazy, I don't think it's an issue due to some app.

If you think it's a hardware issue It would probably be best to bring the phone to a Samsung repair center.
Might just buy a new phone. I just wanted to see if anybody ever had the problem before.
2 days ago i decided to root my samsung galaxy S2 i9100, after i rooted the phone i got a yellow triangle at the boot up screen which i then used triangle away, then my battery started to die very quickly it gets to 50% the screen flickers and then dies and tells me i have only 1% battery life.. i read that it could be the kernel, i was using siyah i think thats how it spelt so i then flashed the philsZ kernel and recovery.. thats has done nothing i still get the screen flicker and shut down at 50%, any ideas off what this is? is there a fix? do i have to spend any money to fix it ect, thanks.
Back to completely stock first to test, if problem persists new battery, if problem still persists replace USB board/port.

okay, one more question.. when i put my phone on charge, the charger is loose in the port it still charges fines but i have to either place the phone on a surface of hold the charger in so it doesnt fall out i have tried other chargers and its the same with them, the port looks fine from what i can see the charger is just loose, so any ideas on how to fix/make the charger stay in firmly?
Sounds like the board/port is either loose or not working as it should & needs replacing. You could always open the phone up & take a look/make sure it's in its right place. If after you've done that it's still causing problems, KeithRoss39 has a guide in the General section on replacing the board/port - it's quick/cheap (maybe US$15 or less)/easy to do yourself, his guide has all the info you need to get that done.
Edit - If that's happening with different cables, then it's obviously the port (either loose or needs replacing).
So, anyone having the same problem here? I already reported this issue to Sony support forum. And yeah, theres alot of people having the same issue like this. The LED will start blinking right after it reach 90% above. Its very annoying to check it all time.
This is happened to me almost everytime i charge my phone. This is kinda software bug, or something to do with rooted or recovery installed? Since i have a rooted and recovery installed on it. Or maybe the problem is with the magnetic cable usb?
Nopee.. Nothing of that sort for me ...

My dad's got the same problem after 80%. He has Z2 running completeley stock, no root etc, so it must be software's fault.

Happens to me aswell connected via USB on my pc.
So, i bought a new brand magnetic charging adaptor called "MAGNECTOR X2". This solved the blinking charging issue. Yeah i was right, theres nothing to do with lollipop update or software. ROFL! I recommended for u guys also.
Stronger magnet
More stable
Can be used with all type micro usb cable
Easy to carry
*Search at youtube "magnector x2" for more detail.

No. Unfortunatelly he doesn't have any other charger.
The docking station isn't original, however it was charging fine on kitkat.

I suggest u try with another diffrent magnetic charger, if the prob still there, do a clean install by using flashtool. Hope that will help, since my problem already solved by changing the usb cable/magnetic charger it self.
For your information, charging your phone to 85% or 90% rather than 100% doubles it's battery life cycle (as in amount of discharge/charge cycles it can survive through). This is something you should care about as the back of the phone is not openable.
I'd want mine to blink after 90%

He won't buy another cable due to OS bug, and also he won't wipe his data for sure. We will see if the next update changes something.
