[Q] Very slow transfer speeds in mass storage mode - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone!
recently i have purchesed a new 32 gb class 10 micro sd card,
and am experiencing a very slow transfer speed between the phone and computer(800kb/s - 1.0mb/s),
before this card, i had a 16gb one and i had speeds of 6 mb/s.
i have tried wiping cache and dalvik,
and checked reading writing speeds within the phone (which reached 14 -15 mb/s read and 50 mb/s write)
does anyone has an idea what could solve this? or what could be causing it
edit: just mounted using recovery, whilist transferring files in recovery i reached 4 mb/s so the problem is with rom.
running on hydrogen 12.5 and fluxi rc4

tranferring frm phone is a bit slow for me too ,so i directly tranfer by card reader an pc...may b u should format the ext card on pc then use on phone(fat32)

You connected in MTP mode or mass storage mode?
With me, and mass storage is good, 3mb/s to 7mb/s with SanDisk 16gb class 4. But MTP mode very lower than the mass storage.

I am using mass storage mode, which was giving me good result until i switched cards today.
Ive already put a lot of things on my card using recovery mode,
so i dont really want to format the card until i believe i have no other choice.

SD card formatting

Guys,
I bought a 32 gb transcend class 4 memory card.
I formatted it using the option in settings in phone. Now I see only 29.7 gb of storage available. Is this normal? Bcz I believe I saw a larger value before formatting. Maybe I am wrong.
Also when I connected the phone to pc in mass storage mode, the format shows as RAW. Is this how it is supposed to be? I saw in many places about formatting to FAT. Is this needed?
Please advice.
Thanks in advance.

Shouldn't show as RAW. Yes, 32GB before formatting would show 29.71GB.
Reboot your phone as it may not have mounted properly maybe.

Using SD card as Internal Storage?

In CM13, I have the ability to use my SanDisk ultra class 10 16 gb as Internal Storage! Here are my concerns:
1. What are the drawbacks of doing that?
2. Will the apps function smoothly? [that is why I told you the card i'm using]
3. What storage will my computer detect and how much will bbe available to use for me?
4. What are the problems I can face when using TWRP?
5. If I end up doing a clean flash, will the files placed in the internal storage [sd card formatted] be wiped when formatting internal storage as we usually do in TWRP?
THANKS IN ADVANCE
the drawback is that probably you cant then use that sd card as external storage again

Keeping that aside. What about my others concerns?

Access SD-Card (formatted as internal storage) via USB or Filebrowser App?

Hi P9000 users!
I had now time to test some stuff with my P9000. One question: I inserted a Sandisk 128 GB SDXC Card (UHS) and formatted as internal Storage (want to move apps). Worked fine for the Phone and i was able to move apps to the SD. But after connecting Phone to USB (via MTP & unlocked phone) it only shows 32 GB internal SD. Also via File Explorer app on the phone i cannot find the external SD or mountpoint....
Anyone with same issue? I also changed connection-type to USB and then my OS (Win 10) does not open phone file system at all.
thx and br

We did an article about the SD card memory management in Marshmallow a while ago on the XDA portal that explains this, I'd suggest googling for it as I can't remember the title.
Edit: Something to do with the SD card being formatted as Ext4 (linux file system standard these days) and Windows not supporting Ext4 filesystems.
Thx for reply, so i am afraid its related to Android 6 default behaviour. So if SD is formatted as internal storage you cannot access via USB from PC or managing files on it via file browser app? Thats really disappointing for me since it then switches SD card to enhanced app storage only, useless for image, videos, music etc. Of course i can format as portable SD, but then no movement of apps are possible (via root its maybe the only option).
In SD portable mode, i also had issue that SD cards randomly disconnects and one time it even needed to be reformatted. Have read about that in another thread, that this is related to physical sd mount... will see to fix this with some tape :/ (gives me not a good feeling here)

Update: checked some forums and blogs, seems not to be android 6 default behavior that you completely cannot access the files on adopted SD-card anymore. after adopting as internal storage... anyone could also reproduce this? I will try doing factory reset with SD-Card inserted..
