Phone is extremely slow - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
My phone has been performing very slow since the past 2-3 months,it behaves like ancient symbian phone from 2003.Phone is rooted and boot loader is unlocked.I have tried installing custom rom but the problem still persists.I have only 400 mb space in card and about 100mb in phone memory.Applications installed are 60-70.

Install CPUspy and look haw is processor in a pressure first. And try of course some task killer.

how much RAM free do you have. Also as heliumX10 sais some task killer should be used. Try to move most of the apps to sdcard
Sent from X10
Use this tool forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1415600

Try some of these things
1. charge phone to 100%, wipe/format everything, & make a clean installation of FeraLab v18
2. Use a task killer
3. Flash another kernel.

get no frills cpu app from market and check your min/max frequency and governor which is maybe set to conservative and that could be the reason of the slowlines, if it is, change it to smartass v2 and rise the min/max frequencis a bit, and you will feel the difference

[Q] Overclocking probblems

Hello
I've got a problem
well I'm using the Setcpu app and i've got everything to work and it's overclocking my LG Optimus t to 806MHz but sometimes it crashed the phone completely and I have to take the battery out because it's completely unresponsive.
dose anyone know what's the problem because I know my phone can do 806MHz but it just crashed after a hour or so.
Your phone obviously can't handle it. Set it to a lower clock speed. This is normal in overclocking. Not all copies of the same hardware are capable of the same speeds.
dam ok ill try 800MHz that might help
You should read about these things before you make any changes..... 730mhz is the stable clock speed that has been tested.
yh well I am new to Android so I don't know everything.
Dont push your CPU to do frequencies it cant. Unless of course you want an expensive paperweight.
748 Mhz is more than enough overclock. Infact Stick to 729MHz.
The simple rule for OC is to increase freq step by step. Increase one step. Test if its stable. If it is then increase one more step. Test again. If not stable decrease to the last stable state.
is it must root ur phone then can overclock the processor ?
yes but once you've rooted your phone and you've got a overclock app EG: setcpu.
but if it's not letting go past your phones original cpu frequency then you will need a to install a custom kernel.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901247
That link will take you to a selection of kernels you can chose from.
Then put the ZIP file on the root of your SD card.
Then you will need to install it via your custom recovery mode and install it from your SD card.

[Q] Queries from a Fresh Optimus one Owner :)

Hi, I just bought an Optimus One P500 from Letsbuy and got it delivered yesterday.
I didn do anything freaky and tested the Battery Life of the same.
After first Full charge for 3.5hrs, I started using the phone.
The phone lasted almost 22Hrs ( 6.30 PM -> Next Day 4.30 PM)
All the default apps and settings were maintained, I didn change any.
Usage Scenario
Phone Calls - 50 Mins
SMS - 150 +
Wifi Browsing - 1hr
Music playback - 15mins
Video Playback - 15mins.
As I was checking out various features of the phone, I always used ma phones display except when I slept.
Now before I go tweaking and rooting the phone I need to know few things.
1. I am planning to Root with Gingerbreak as ma phone is 2.2.1 wid V10C firmware. So what are the Risks invloved in Rooting. Does this void warranty?
2. What all are the Apps I could safely Remove from my Phone via Rooting. I dont want that Vaccine Cleaner or any Bloatware in ma phone.
3. My Phone memory got decreased to 155 Mb from 170 MB, I didn install any app. Just synced ma Contact list wid Facebook and Gmail. What may be the reason?
4. What should I do to increase My phones Internal Memory other than using App2SD?
5. Any problems when updating to 2.2.2 after rooting? Any issues with 2.2.2 ? Does it solve any current issues ?
phone is less laggy with 2.2.2
if you root you void your warranty
after routing you can remove any app that came pre loaded with your phone.
to increase internal memory you can move the applications to sd card, some applications may not move to sd card. low phone memory does not hamper the performance of the phone. applications run/load faster if they are on the phone memory
One thing you should know is that the sdcard which comes with phone isn't very good, and it can be automatically unmounted sometimes. This is because it's a class 2 sdcard.
So you may want to buy a class 6 or higher sdcard. The more the class, the best performance you get.
Reply to question 4
You can try clearing cache.
Search for cache cleaner on market.
thanks for the fast reply. are you sure Rooting will void warranty. i hav read that the phone can be brought back to the original sTate and thus it won't void warranty. i would like to know a final word regarding this.
if we remove an app after rooting can the phone brought back to factory state.
Also i have say 6 albums n ma picasa so if i sync it where will these pics get stored? i dnt want ma phn memory to be filld up by pics.
It is possible to flash original software back on your phone using kdz updater which will remove the presence of any customization on the phone(root, custom recovery, custom rom etc.) And make your phone appear unmodified for all practical purposes.
Read the following thread for instructions -
HOWTO] Rooting, Installing -Android SDK, Custom Recovery, Custom ROM's
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007244
During ur initial days of use of ur phone, battery life will be shorter. That will change and the battery life will increase in a few days. Happens with all new battery. And if you plan to u use stock instead of custom ROM update ur phone to the latest V10E before u root ur phone. This is a root able version with Ginger break.
Rooting your phone would void your warranty but you cal always unroot using the latest version of Gingerbreak so that wont be problem. I suggest you upgrade to 2.2.2 and then root.

Thanks guys.
So I will post my status as of now.
I rooted using Gingerbreak
Installed Move2SD Enabler and set default location to Memory Card(2GB)
Installed Rockplayer Pro
Installed PowerAmp Pro
Installed Terminal Emulator
Installed Juice Defender Ultimate
Unrooted phone using Gingerbreak
Now My Doubts are :-
1. Am going to Update to 2.2.2 as I am currently in Unrooted State. Any issues with that ?
2. I really wish to remove all that Vaccine, Bollywood, Picsay, LG adviser, LG App Installer etc from my phone for ever. But If I remove them, can they be recovered. Also if I Uninstall using Titanium can I later Upgrade to Gingerbread when Its released by LG.
3. What is Custom recovery. I read the guide and every stuff here, but I still got that confusing. What are the uses of loading custom recovery.
4. Is custom recovery of any good for me ( I dont intend to use custom ROM now) Is it important to do Custom Recovery for Stock Roms ?

1. Don't think there will be an issue updating. But u should have done it after updating as there has been some who's been saying updating after rooting has been a lil tricky. Try this thread for more info : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1041528
2.You can remove them. Don't think there will be an issue. but try freeze option to be safe. I removed all of them accept for LG adviser and install. No problems.
3. Custom recovery is similar to the BIOS of the computer. U can use it to wipe all the data from ur phone memory, Install custom ROM, etc.
4. U don't need it if u plan to only use Stock.
Thanks, as per your advice I unrooted and updated my Optimus One to V2.2.2 aka V10E.
And now I rooted again with gingerbreak and removed bloatware with Titanium Backup.
Can you guys suggest a Startup Cleaning software as we have MSConfig in windows ?

Hi, I'm a new user but hey, android is familiar with me lol Okay, for your questions, these are your answers!
1.Rooting basically allows you and apps to access to important system files. One thing good is that it allows you to set CPU Speed and other stuff.(Go Market and search for 'root'!)One thing bad is if you accidentally delete any file (Oppsies!) , then your phone risk getting BRICKED So, make your decision wisely! (p.s. I rooted mine!)
2.You can remove everything you want but remember, your phone can stop functioning if you accidentally maybe uninstall like...market? It's really your choice
3.Usually it is due to some stupid cache, go market download 'Cache Cleaner' or something like that to clean the cache.
4.For this question...Apps2sd is ur best bet but you can try link2sd too . Jkjk, to increase your internal memory, you can:
1)Do Q2 (Uninstall system apps lol)
2)Take apart your phone and install another chip or something like that
3)If above options do not work for you, use Apps2sd or Link2sd!
5.Based on my opinion, no, rooting does not affect update. Issues? I'm not sure but one thing is for sure, your choice!
I REALLY HOPED I hELPED YOU! Gotta continue my Optimus one gamee!!!!

Hmmm....Go market and search for startup auditor or autorun lol
There's cache cleaner that is packaged in void echo rom. You can set time for automatic cleaning of cache say every 3 days etc.
Other system related stuff that comes from that rom include:
Watchdoglite >> monitor running apps that eat too much of your cpu so you can end it
Spareparts >> let's you monitor what apps eat your battery
Setcpu >> with this you can overlock your phone for best performance or you can set it to your desired frequency for battery saving purposes. Depends on what you want
Fast Reboot >> this automatically restarts all your apps/running backgrounds without needing to reboot the phone
Thanks guys you saved the day. I installed Startup manager but it lists only a few stuff. Anyways did some tweaking and happy as a clam.
Thank you guys
Custom recovery not necessity if u don't want to flash custom rom.
You will be able to update from LG if u have just rooted and removed some bloat.
All the bloatware will come back if you upgrade.

1. Not really. Once you root, you will learn how to unroot
2. You can use System app remover. (market)
3. Could be the cache of Facebook and Gmail.
4. Well the first thing is to remove cache that are built up by storing the web and youtube.
5.No , I rooted from 2.2.2 10E and I claim that was the best decision I made so far.
I recommend you to flash fransiscofranco's Devoid rom , efficient and newbie-friendly. However you need to flash custom recovery first to flash anything. If you need help , pm me.
You can thank me by pressing the thank button below.

I dont wanna move to a Custom ROM now.

Is it necessary to calibrate battery after upgrading to v10E or 2.2.2, does an update via LG s/w updater alter the battery calibration values and should i calibrate it again ?

[Q] Noob help - Rooted desire keeps freezing.!

Morning guys - i'm a sort of noob (go easy.!) that needs help with my HTC desire. I took plunge and decided to try rooting & applying custom ROM, but now have problems with the screen freezing completely at any point, then on restart the phone boots into the home launcher but screen does not respond or will not wake.
So far:
Rooted with unrevoked
HBOOT flashed to Cm7r2
Latest version of clockworkmod recovery via app
Aurora 4.1 (all dalvik caches wiped at correct points).
V6 supercharger applied on setting 5 (balanced).
Tried with kernel built in ROM (0.7) & gingercakes 0.9cfs no2way havs.
SD card partitioned with GParted (fat32 primary, 2gb primary ext4).
I've had the ROM working fine, the only other thing i can place it to is swapping the SD card, which i've changed from 4gb class to, to a samsung 16gb class 6. Does anyone think that this error could be anyway caused by the fact the card readers i've used (tried 2 different readers) both have had trouble recognising the 16gb card?? (Gparted still recognised it however)
Is it possible to be a hardware issue? Please note recovery works perfectly - wiping caches, reinstalling zip files, backups etc.....only problem is now this freezing of home launcher and no response.
Any help be greatly appreciated, give me a nudge if i haven't given enough detail.
Regards, Nick.!
Additional:- Tried unsupercharging & rebooting - no difference.
Only other thing i can think that i've done prior to the fault is attempting to install busybox for V6 supercharger - which failed every time and affected my root access on the phone. I've found that the Aurora ROM has busybox installed already. However, is it possible me trying that install has somehow affected the rooting of the phone?
So many questions, sorry guys!
Bump.....would ADAO file manager (which isn't on google market I notice) affect anything on ext4 perhaps? That was one app that i downloaded from net.
Have you tried reverting your busybox to the default version? Also, are you overclocking and or overclocking? Going to high or to low with CPU speed can cause problems like that. It has also been said that partitioning an SD card can damage them, which may be an issue you have now. You could try formatting the SD card to its default state and run like that for a while. I ran a 16gb SD card in a Droid Eris for months and it never caused a problem like that. Of course, I didn't have a partition set up on it.
Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk
I've literally left the settings for speed in daemon controller alone, although i'm still learning and not sure if they are default overclocked or not?
Possibility with the SD card, i'll give it a try for sure, that'd mean i'd have to revert to an alternate ROM would it, as Aurora specifies an ext4 partition?
Thanks again though, it's a start at least
Do you set profiles in SET CPU?
Accidentally sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA Premium
Excuse noobie brain here, where will i find those CPU settings?
If so, fully wipe and install again. And what rom are you using currently that causes freeze?
Accidentally sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA Premium
Aurora V4.1 ROM i'm using. Don't think it's the ROM itself as i have had it stable for week or so, before swapping SD card from 4gb to 16gb.
I'm thinking this may be the root cause as i've just tried a complete fresh partition with Gparted & fresh install of literally just the ROM itself and on first boot it froze again. Rebooted and now seems to be stable with nothing reloaded back on it but we'll wait and see. If it freezes again i'll try my 4gb card. Didn't want to revert back to that as its only class 2.
[Q] Noob help - Rooted desire keeps freezing.! Update...!
UPDATED - Still getting same problems - have now tried a different SD card & alternative ROM (Cool3d v5).
Is it possible it could be heat related fault? The more i use the phone the more readily it happens - from the occasional freeze (okay after reboot) to complete freeze and no response on every reboot.
Does the CPU therefore have a cut out or could be freezing based on the settings that are initially loaded through daemon controller? What are safe settings for the min/max values?
Only other thing i've noticed is once fault starts to occur - clearing dalvik cache in recovery is quite unresponsive - menu holds before allowing me to clear.
Got to get to the bottom of this - don't want to revert back to original, or throw my phone in the river!!
Save clock is 1ghz. No over clock is the safest.
Do your phone wear case? If yes, it may be the caused of heat.
I'm sure the rom caused you the freeze. You can try to change a more stabler rom, eg aosp
Accidentally sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA Premium
Bit more progress - as my phone literally would freeze on loading home launcher, i connected it to pc and mounted via recovery - and deleted everything i could see for V6 SUPERCHARGER - and hey presto, very slowly, but phone booted up and is now working again.
I see the devs of V6 say about removing hardtokill if any lags occur - i think it's this portion of the script affecting my bravo.
SO, i'm going to run it totally without V6, and may try to just run the memory portion, but the instructions to disable hardtokill are a little unclear to me, could you guys tell me in simple terms how to acheive??
Thanks again for all your responses, a great help
V6 now off and all fresh re-installed with cpu max turned down also, and set to ondemand gov, will see how we go
[Q] Noob help - Rooted desire keeps freezing.! PT3.!
Still no joy with this issue guys - pulling my hair out now - after a few hours use (usually overnight) phone just freezes, then freezes on reboot, before getting worse and now will not pass alpharev's boot screen.
Installing fresh gets me into home launcher, but becomes unresponsive and freezes again.
I've tried different ROM's, different SD's, basic clean install, all without any luck. I'm thinking now it is more a hardware issue with the phone?

Has your device went through any physical damage (around the time the problem started)?
No physical damage apart from the battery cover being pulled off more than once(!) and a lot of obscenities being flung it's way, lol! But no, not dropped or damaged at all.
I've used the phone now all afternoon, longer than normally, with the same details on same hboot, but left some of the sense widgets off the home launcher, and it hasn't locked up once.

Setcpu Rebooting

I installed Setcpu everything was working great till I lowered the the minimum Frequency to around 700MHZ & I checked the "Set On Boot". It started to reboot the phone continuously I went back unchecked the "Set on Boot" which helped but when I go back in Setcpu it would reboot again.
I tried setting the frequency to the max & it would freeze & reboot quicker. I tried putting the Setcpu safemode in the root of the sd card but it didnt do anything.
I uninstalled SetCpu & updated the RUU on my Rezound it solved the reboots & it seemed everything was running as normal until when the phone was auto-syncing the phone froze for about 10-seconds then everything was back to normal. I heard about flashing the .zip file but I don't know how & I'm not installing Setcpu again to find out.
I'm wondering if the freeze had anything to do with the SetCpu. Everything is deleted once you update the RUU so I don't believe there should be any left over files from the SetCPU. I'm not sure if there on my sd card I was thinking of formatting the SD.
It would never freeze like that before I installed the new update but I never did have Setcpu installed once I got the phone. So I'm wondering if this problem lies with the Setcpu or the new RUU update for the Rezound which is 2.01.605.11?
Probably SetCPU, if you tweak the setting too much (or putting it in awkward settings) it can create errors.
Might have to do with which kernel you are running. Some kernels, such as dsb, play better with certain cpu apps. dsb likes Antutu CPU Master.
Hmm could be something on the user side like kernel or perhaps if you installed a bad downloaded stock rom because I have have been using setcpu since day one with no errors on stock kernel on any rom. If you had a kernel installed prior it may still be installed which allows the cpu to ramp up to unstable speeds such as >1512 mhz.
Even if you were to try set an OC kernel to stable speeds, it will always ramp up to highest speeds, even higher than set. All in all, I would recommend to reflash stock kernel and made sure to flash boot.img which is most important. Hope this helps!

eh, dsb hasn't given me problems with SetCPU.
Weird
I only use setCPU, I have all the other ones too just about but they are all uninstalled because they usually just don't work as well, I use incredicontrol for undervolting, and that's it. Dsbs works with incredicontrol too... The kernel could be the issue and not the app but who knows

[TIPS] - for Performance and Battery life for G2 mini

Tips for better performance and battery life of your phone.
Hi guys. I have decided to reopen this thread and share some of my tips to you (thanks to forum moderator). You find here basic easy tips, but also something more difficult. I do this specially for less experienced users, so any suggestion from others I will appreciate.
So let's start!
For performance:
For non-rooted devices
So, here, I can suggest you only keep your device clean. That mean, unnistaling unused applications, clearing cache, close recent apps. I don't believe any ram cleaners/boosters, because in most cases, they slow devices by running like process, instead they're helpful.
For rooted devices
Here we have a really more possibilities but also keeping clean device is a best option. When you're rooted, you can removere bloatware, or some preinstalled apps, which you don't use (recommended app Link2SD). In Google playstore exist a lot useful apps to get more from your device. My favorites are Root Booster and Kernel Audiutor to set up your device. In addition, on xda exist a lot of good threads for G2 mini, which are helpful. To increase multitasking you can use virtual memory - swap (If this method didn't work for you, you should try THIS). But, best options below.
For rooted&unlocked bootloader&TWRP installed devices
IMPORTANT! - before any modification have nandroid backup!
If you get here without any brick, now you can get most of your phone. So, here you can flash mods/tweaks to increase your performance like L SPEED MOD or ABS (for me best mods). It's good to try some customs roms (find here) or also try good kernels, which support zram (in my opinion better than swap). Just, do some research!
For Battery life:
For non-rooted devices
I'm repeat myself, just keep cleaned your device. Here is important to have a fewest background process as possible. So try don't use battery hunger apps. You can find apps which are draining your battery (in settings or use app Wakelock detector) and at least disable them. From battery extended apps i can suggest you Greenify, which is in my opinion the best effective app for battery. But don't forget, battery also depends on your usage and your brightness level.
For rooted devices
Still remember, what i write above. Here is it similar like in performance section for rooted devices. What's more, in stock rom I recommended download app Kernel Audiutor and set your cpu minimum frequency to 300 mhz (don't forget to set on boot), because minimal frequency of stock rom is 787 mhz.
For rooted&unlocked bootloader&TWRP installed devices
Here I can suggest you this thread. Also Xposed with some modules can be helpful. When you have custom kernel, I recommended set governor in Kernel Audiutor on interactive (best) or conservative. Custom roms and kernels will be always good choice for battery life, just give a try!
PS: On XDA exist a lot of good mods for your phone, so just search them!
My results:
I get about 5 hours on screen with medium usage and two days battery life. Also I'm able to do pretty good multitasking ( For example seeing Facebook, chating, listening music without lags) and in Antutu Benchamark I get score about 22 000 .
If you have any ideas, suggestions, tips etc. , post it here!
I think, is everything, what i can give you.
I hope this was useful for you and it helps you.
Good luck, to get the most from your device!
Zdravo, brate, thanks for the advices but i have a question, my G2 mini restarts all the backgrounds apps for example if i write something in this window then switch lets say to chrome for 2 seconds the previous app just starts over. It's the only thing i hate about my g2 mini.

Hi that is wierd Do you do install something on your phone? For example some mod or app. Try find out it. Also, you can go to settings, developer options, scroll down and chceck your limit of background process Or find something, what could be wrong But be careful, what you change
I didn't even root it, i only have basic stuff, and i also didn't limit background processes. Same behaviour on both kitkat and lollipop, even with factory reset.

Zdravo, brate, thanks for the advices but i have a question, my G2 mini restarts all the backgrounds apps for example if i write something in this window then switch lets say to chrome for 2 seconds the previous app just starts over. It's the only thing i hate about my g2 mini.

Hi everyone!
This is my first thread, so i hope that you will like it.
I do some reserach about perfomance and battery life, and i want to suggest you some tricks and advices.
Please read these instuctions carefuly, this is safe metod, but always can something happen. So, be careful. If you dont understand these insturctions, dont do this I'M NEW, SO LINKS DIDN'T WORK FOR ME SO I WILL NAVIGATE YOU. It's easy, don't worry
BETTER PERFORMANCE:
Lg g2 mini come with zram 215 mb, we will increase it to 380 mb using two files (98 swap data,98 swap system). This will help you to do better multitasking and you will have less lags. But dont forget, you are the boss of your phone, so if you don't take care about it, you will get lags. Of course, that you can get more zram using 98 swap cache file, but this didn't work for me.
What do you need:
1.root - I have d620r android 5.0.2 rooted with kingroot
2.busybox- download in google play
3.support init.d - in google write "uni init v1.0 apk" and download it from first link
4.root browser- download in google play
5.script manager - download in google play
6.scripts- write "uloz.to" in google and tap first link. Then search "98 swap file" (dont worry about this website, is verified slovakia download site )
7.diskinfo - download in google play
Instructions:
1. Make sure you are rooted.
2. Extract 98 swap file and put that two files on sd card. Also "uni init v1.0 apk" put on sd card.
3. Instal busybox, then reboot
4. install "uni init v1.0 apk" ,open it and install init.d folder, then reboot
5.install root browser, open it,give it root permissions, and make sure that in system/etc/ is init.d folder. If it exist, you're on good way.
6. use root browser and copy 97 swap data and 98 swap system to system/etc/init.d. Then hold finger on 97 swap data, find permisions and check all squares. Do same with 98 swap system.
7.install script manager, open it,give it root permissions (don't forget to tick browse as root) and go to system/etc/ init.d. open 97 swap data and tap on "su" and "boot" and check "is executable" and then, tap on "run". Do same with 98 swap system. Then reboot.
8 install diskinfo app, open it, and if you have swap 380 mb, congratulation, you succesfully increase performance of your phone But dont UNINSTALL script manager, because after that, scripts wont works.
Also, i recommended app seeder and link2sd (remove bloatware).
BETTER BATTERY LIFE:
Also exist some scripts for that, but i don't testet them yet
What do you need:
1. Greenify - download in google play
2.Kernel auditor - download in google play
3. Wakelock detector - download in google play
Instructions :
1. Instal wakelock detector and find out which apps are drain your battery.
2 Install Greenify and hibernate some "battery hunger apps" or uninstall that apps.
3 Install Kernel auditor and set up cpu frequencies to max 1190 mhz and min 384 mhz. Set these settings on boot.
4. Than go to cpu hotplug and uncheck it. (set frequencies will work)
Also, I recommended close recent apps.
You are done. I hope that this thread helps you.
Sorry for my bad english, iam from Slovakia.
Enjoy!

I've done it and i got just 315mb swap! Anyway thanks
Sent from my LG-D620 using XDA Free mobile app
Thanks. :good:
it's better to use cache partition instead of system or data because Cache has 900 MB where like 15mb are just used

hi yes, you've right, lags phone, but only when swap file is on sd card. This is swap file in internal memory, so speed of read of this swap is fast. Reactions of phone are improved and also multitasking I get better score in antutu benchmark too (19234) You have'right about swap cache but this didn't work for me, so you can try it

let me correct myself: it does not lag, it was just minute after reboot so that's why it could lag.
i got 600mb swap in cache so now i got 300mb for cache.
works like a charm, i recommend this af

Hmmm, i don't know, i don't have that problem, after reboot, iam able to use my mobile phone after aproximmately 30 seconds. Of course, that system must loading applications and other things, so it takes some time, but that is noting horrible, isn't it? Yes, swap in cache is really good, maybe is better, but iam repeat, this didn't work for me. When i run script 98_swap_cache_file_v300, a get some error about swap.img.
I have swap 380 mb and it is far better than 215 mb.
