Nope. Mine doesn't heat up much even though I am on 3G mode almost all the time. Once in a while it does get quite warm, but it's rare.

Nope. Never. I was surprised how it didn't get warm like my HTC. I browse a lot and stream music over 3G literally for hours on the way and it doesn't make a difference. Maybe different batches of hardware?

lumia 800 has a built-in battery and its unibody design which may be the reason why it is easy to heat up
my lumia 800 heats up like hell while charging -.-
Mine does heat up when using it a lot. But I suffer from battery draining every now and then while on 3g, then it stays hot all the time untill battery runs out. It has to be a software thing since last update it got much better and now the battery can stand a day on 3g and 2 days on 2g.
Mine heats up randomly, sometimes while charging (with a different one than the one supplied), sometimes while gaming for hours, but nothing as such only because of 3G, I am on 3G all the time, with 3 apps sending push notifications, email, and audio streaming for hours together!

I mean it's easy to heat up when surfing the Internet or something like that in 3G.Those apps sending push notifications...dont cause it heating up that much

Facing same problem with 3G
I have a Nokia C5 I am facing same problem on 3G mode. When I download a song, or watch a video on Youtube for continuos 5 minutes it get so much hot, my backside of the phone has Aluminium cover which gives the feeling like burning when using 3G. This heating up problem has affected my phone's battery life.

when i used my phone to play cricket game within 5 minutes it got hot near the camera and i couldnt continue playing the game. I was totally puzzled. Also when i speak a long call for more than 20minutes of continuous the same heat is felt near the camera. Why is it happening. What is the remedy for this? I really feel bad when it happens
How hot did it get?
Why couldn't you keep playing?
Most likely the temperature isn't hot enough to cause problems but I'm surprised search couldn't help you.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
its is so hot that if u keep on playing you feel that u may burn your fingers placed over the camera region and the heat transfers to the whole unit as well.
might be an idea to underclock to 800mhz
I must say that playing PES2011 or Reckless Racing for ~15 minutes makes SGS2 really hot. Not hot enough to "burn your fingers", but it's still hot. Elixir says that battery temperature after play equals ~41 Centigrades, so the GPU is about ~60, 70 maybe? Can't check it, dunno how.
Does anyone else have that problem?
Same here, i played Order and chaos for about 6 min and it got extremly hot, so i quit and went to set cpu where i saw temperature was 51ºC...
However, i usually have it underclock to 800mhz and theres no heat(max. 31 i think), but i havent tried to play at 800mhz, i always overclock it to 1200 minimum for playing HD games and still do little stops sometimes while playing...

If you guys are playing at night time under low light conditions I suggest you get the App screen filter. It reduces the brightness below the lowest brightness settings that the phone can offer. I have noticed a big difference in gaming as my screen doesn't get hot anymore, only the back which is better than nothing.

Same Problem
Same problem here. Phone gets really hot around the front and back cameras, while playing games like RF11 or Asphalt6. Should I return it or flash a custom rom/different firmware. I am on XWKF3.
Same here on gaming..
The maximum battery temperature I've seen was 55 C while charging the battery, a game (Gangasta on message that data was downloaded successfully via Wifi) got stuck in background consuming a lot of CPU (~50%+).
Sorry guys, this phone as a severe design issue and the temperature problem can't be solved. You only can keep the cpu clock down.
He guys,
It's not only with playing games. My phone was doing nothing and the temperature raised (don't now the temp. but very hot) and the phone shut down, and was completely dead. Could not start it up. Could not charge it, because I thought it was empty. After cooling down, I took off the back and replaced the battery and I could boot it again. I was using internet 10 min. before. I think the cpu's where max. and getting hot. This is a serious problem, and I don't want to root my phone to clock down cpu. I am not a gamer so thats not a problem for me. First time this hapened in 1 1/2 month.
I feel realy bad about this. Did it shutdown because of the heat? Is there a safety thing build in? Is it damaged?
I' m wondering how the guys with overclocked devices cope with the heat. I have my phone only 5 days and it already crashed few times while playing games. Once it was getting hotter and hotter and it wasn't responding. i was worried so I had to hold the power button 10 seconds to turn it off. Maybe you(Frank-HTC) had a similar situation but with an app that was working in background?

Update your ROM.
I flashed XXF2 and it does appear to be running comparatively cooler now.
Sent from my galaxy S2
Had a similar issue - the phone used to get quite hot while playing games.
However, Samsung seems to have fixed this issue (at least for SGS2 India users)
I can confirm that updating the stock firmware (KF1) to stock KF3 has solved this. Intense gaming for 2 hours straight, with Wifi and lots of processes running, the phone is only mildly warm.
If you are experiencing this issues, please try backing up your data and updating your firmware via Kies.
My phone doesn't have this issues, I'm using a water-cooling system now.

maximum i have used is 2g network,,,no xtra battery consumptive usage like in browsing, wifi, brightnes bluetooth,,,screen off most time (no underclock) for 2 nad a half day....
lol ..i have no 3G , use phone for calls and msg only buy mt battery last about 1day or 1 and a half only ...wth?
This solution sounds a bit "Apple style"... It's not that the battery sucks, it's that you're using your phone the wrong way
Now being serious, if I wanted a normal phone, I'd still use my Nokia 2690.
Used my phone as normal phone abt a month ago wen i was in roaming......got around 3 days of battery life

But wats the use of keeping the battery draining simply for 4 days?? U neither used the phone itself.. We enjoy the phone and battery drains..r we the only android users who face battery problem? Nope many r there.. Mine is quite simple use..
1. As i wake up mrng see fb for 10 min(With 3G).
2. Play Games in office wen bored so overall in a day for 2hrs at the max.
3. Chatting for 3-4 hrs.
4. Phone call for few minutes.
I get battery for 1 day hardly. But difference is I DRAIN IT.. It dint drain itself
That was done just for fun. I didn't expect to acomplish anything. It's just that we can see complains about battery duration and draining issues all over the place. Well, at least you admit that you drained it.
And it's not true that I haven't used the phone during that period. Like I said, voice calls and messages were used like any other day (if I remember correctly there was ~45 minutes of voice calls) and ~half an hour of wifi.
Again, that was just for fun. Wanted to see how long will it last if I use it like normal phone. And that was just 4 days period. Normaly my battery lasts a day, two days tops.
I have 70 apps installed from market but everything is disabled on the phone (stock 2.3.6) so if I just use the phone for calls only the battery lasts for 8 full days, I'm very happy with the phone, only use wifi to update apps during battery charge!
Damn, excellent results.
But, you know what they say: picture or it didn't happen
I've switched to the M4 from the Moto E 2015. Both phones are set up just about the same.
The E had amazing battery life, easily going 2 days between charges. When not in active use it barely used any power, and even during use it was pretty efficient.
The M4 is also very good at staying asleep when the screen is off.
However, during even the lightest active use, such as Web browsing, even with screen brightness turned way down, the thing just gulps the battery down. Every 2-3 minutes it goes down 1%.
Are you having this experience too?
.
On WiFi I once got 5 hour screen on time. Not sure how. I used it to browse Web and do other basic stuff like YouTube.Likely depends how demanding the task is.
On Lte/Data battery drains way faster.
Yes, this has been a major concern for me. I hate the battery of this phone.
I went from the M2 to the M4. The battery was waaaaaaaay better on the M2. If the M2 had about 7% battery going to bed, my alarm would DEFINITELY go off the next morning, and I would have 5-6%. It was great, so reliable. I charged it around every 2 days. I used it for all normal functions including web browsing, music playing, emails, messaging etc.
If my M4 has 7% battery going to bed, the alarm will not go off, and the phone will be dead. That's absolutely guaranteed every time. I HATE that. I really do. It has been years since I've been so dependent on having chargers around. I swore that I would not return to a phone that I had to charge every day.
What I really don't understand is on GSM Arena, their review says it has an even better battery life in lab tests, than the M2. Not in my case.
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_m4_aqua-review-1249p3.php
I use all the battery saving techniques that are available. I had the same set-up on my M2. It's not how I use the phone, or how much, or the battery saving, it's the phone.
Something else to consider, is that we've seen from Samsung and Apple that the same model of a phone can have different manufacturers. The same two models were not necessarily made with all the same parts. Mine is the 06 version, the Americas. I bought it in Canada.

I'm going into bed with around 60% of battery left after day with normal usage
That is ridiculous! I want that! Let's swap our phones please!
Yeah, I wonder if the Americas version got some different parts? Maybe the screen? Who knows. But, Samsung and Apple users have had this discussion, then found out their identical phones were not made the same. Hmm.
I've flashed different firmware over time and I don't see any difference there either.
Update - Actually, a thought has come to mind. Two of you have mentioned that you use wi-fi and are happy. I mostly use data, not wi-fi. I wonder if it's the Snapdragon chip? Burns heavily on the battery?
i have not any problem with battery life...
I use the original 1.100 firmware (the phone came with the crappy .99)
3g singal all the time, data not active (expect perhaps for about 30-40 minutes), wifi active.
Well I was just browsing the web a little bit and I spotted two seperate reviews of our phone which both say the battery is inconsistent and that 4G is the battery-burner. I was right!
Confusingly, the M4 Aqua’s battery performance was very inconsistent. On Wi-Fi, we could be browsing the web or playing games for twenty minutes and only lose a few %. However, when on 4G, we saw drops of up to 15% in just half an hour of use. If you’re willing to be a little cautious with how you use your device, and you don’t insist on intensive use while off Wi-Fi, you could probably manage two days.

http://www.trustedreviews.com/sony-...ery-life-and-verdict-page-4#tr-review-summary
During my time with the handset I found that generally the battery life was good – though uneven. Some days when moderately using the M4 Aqua for phone calls, texts and checking emails regularly, I'd end the day with the M4 Aqua still retaining an impressive 60% of its battery life – which means it would be easily capable of two day battery life.
However throw in some web browsing – both over WiFi and 4G – and the battery depletes much quicker, with a drop of around 20% after 15 minutes of browsing. So the M4 Aqua does do a fair job of holding onto battery life when used in certain circumstances, but not so well in others.

I knew it couldn't just be me! I do use 4G primarily. I knew it!
So...I buy an iPhone tomorrow. Last of Sony. (not because of battery).
my 4g is always off. just dont need that kind of speed when im outside. 3g is enough for me mostly coz its not a battery hog like 4G
I was just wondering if you guys use manual or adaptive brightness. I used to use adaptive but when I turned it off for a while I saw my battery life was dramatically affected. I went from 7-8 hours of screen on to less than 5. Also, there is a severe drop in my battery when I start using the screen. Today I was using my phone lightly throughout the day and listening to some music. When I got home, my phone was at around 50% and I started to watch some youtube video on Wi-Fi. After about an hour my phone had dropped to 15%. I don't know if this drop in battery life is just due to me now using my phone with a brighter screen. I also use twilight filter which I'm not sure if it affects the battery life. I have the E2303
It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

I don't find LTE is needed but I'm in a pretty good signal area most times.
You think I should go to a Samsung service center ?
I doubt a different device will be any different. Unless the phone is acting up, chances are it's an app or setting causing the trouble. Screen brightness, under location settings, make sure scan BTW and WiFi are turned off, those have been big ones for me in the past. Right now I'm testing adguard which runs VPN on your phone to block ads and it's hitting my battery pretty hard, but with fast charging and big battery, I'm living with it for now.
---------- Post added at 02:42 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:41 AM ----------
Also, you might want to set data settings to default and let the phone pick the strongest signal.

Do a factory reset and clear cache from recovery a couple of times, i would recommend a reflash. I'm a sec at best buy.
Temped to return it..
I've a UK version and I've been not really happy with battery life.
First thing, I disables AOD,but that didn't change anything.
I did a factory reset and I did set it up as fresh new without any App and/or Account.
So the phone has Wifi+LTE on and after 21h18m I've 36% left with 1h25m SoT done with Web Browsing.
The settings are standard, no sync, no AOD, Edge night mode.
Should I return the phone?
Thanks for advice
very impressed with the battery life, took it off charge yesterday around 9pm, been on all day on 4g, great 7 hours screen on time , this with auto brightness, 4 emails syncing
I've got the Exynos model of the s9+ and it appears to get pretty hot. Almost uncomfortable at times.. this a long with battery drain when I've got barely any apps installed is pretty poor. Note 8 never had these issues.. anyone else experiencing this?

This is NOT normal. Install aida64 or any monitorung software and check your temps. You may have a faulty unit! My temps right now on exynox are 34.5 cpu and 34.6 battery with normal usage
Is this normal?

Samsung haters out in force, eh? None of my Samsung phones has ever shown any overheating issues. Only phone I've owned that had overheating issues was LG.

Samsung's cooling and clock speed are just fine for normal use. Runnning Antutu is NOT normal phone use. Why slow down the phone for everyone else just to run some silly benchmark.

I'd like my phone to be stable at all times, in any situation, especially at this price point.
I also was shocked to see it since I never had it with any other device in the past.

My US unlocked s9+ never got uncomfortable hot/warm even under heavy task like gaming. And, during normal use like- calling, texting, chating, browsing it never got any hot/warm. Just normal. During 16 to 24 hrs of usage- i got avg 5:30 to 7:30hrs of screen on time
This thread has been cleaned now lets get it on topic...
Same happened to me
Found out that the problem is with battery temprature..did a settings reset and now back to normal..seems to me it's like a bug with some settings
Update
Again battery temps hitting 37degrees during normal work such as whatsapp and youtupe...feels a little warm..asked samsung and told me to get a replacement..
Hi, same here. I have Exynos 9 plus model and all of a sudden, apparently without any reason, it starts to burn...yesterday it was at 42...I'm a Samsung lover I had S5, S7 edge, S8, Gears s3 but now i'm quite upset because I spent a lot of money for it and now I have to do a reset factory to see if I can solve the problem...I spoke with Samsung care and they told me it can depend on the many apps I've installed in it...maybe, he said, it depends on Nova Launcher! I can't belive that I've always had Nova Launcher and now in a 1000 Euro phone I cannot use it because of the heat! The heat it always starts on the camera zone on the back
Had this with the Snapdragons before but the Exynos usually cooler, have you checked to see if it has an app running in the background causing it

Yes, I've installed System panel and Gsam battery monitor but i can't see any app the in particular is going crazy. I can see that sometimes, without any specific use, is starts to burn untill 42 like yesterday; I restarted the phone but i keeped doing it. I've took off all the background working for many apps like spotify and others....Now i'm doing hard reset and I will see...

Maybe better, maybe...you know the heat was going along with a strong battery drain. So I will wait one day to decide if bring it to assistance or not...
By the way, it's not fair to spend time to try to fix problems in a 1000 euros and 3 weeks phone and eventually bring it to assistance and stay without it for one week...I need the telephone for work!

?? mine appears to be normal now...dunno what changed
For me the video enhancement feature in settings was causing increased temperature and also battery loss. Turn it off and it will surely increase the battery life.
Mine gets warm too, but randomly. It stays cool most of the time. But all of a sudden it would get warm in my pocket. Don't know what's going on.
S9 overheating
Hi. I have been having the same issue. I took my phone back and got a replacement due to it overheating but the new phone overheats as well. It overheats the most when I use the Screen Mirroring (Smart View) feature to watch movies on my Samsung smart TV. I am curious to find out if this happens to other S9 owners as well. While I am watching movies using this feature it gets so hot the phone will freeze up halfway through the movie . My kids were watching a movie and they said the screen displayed a message stating it overheated and then shut off. This doesn't happen with any other of my other Samsung phones. I was walking with the phone on my hip on day and it started to get hot as well. I am so disappointed. I really am a fan of these phones but this is a huge problem of course. Also my first phone was was trouble shooted, updated and reset but it still had the same issues unfortunately. I had to go through all those steps before getting a new replacement device.
