[Q] MeanROM - ICS Music Player - HTC EVO 3D

Ok, so I am running MeanROM ICS 0.9 and so far so good. The only issue I have is with music. Beats sounds muddy and DSP manager appears to do nothing. Is there any way to remove/disable Beats and use DSP manager instead? And, does anyone know what the "HTC enhancer" option is? To me I cannot tell a difference between it and Beats.

HTC Enhancer is just another equalizer. You can't completely remove Beats if it's baked into the rom. But you can disable it. In the music app, hit menu-sound enhancement, and set to Off or None. Or just pull down the notification bar when music is playing, and hit the Off button next to the beats logo.

Only way to that is to request a zip to remove beats from Mikey

[Q] SGS2 Music player??? SUCKS

Ok... is it just me or does the stock music player suck? I couldnt even find any shuffle button... Is there one?
Anyway the question is... Is there a valid alternative? What i'm looking for is drag and drop mp3's onto the phone and a good quality reproduction of mp3's. Is winamp as good as the desktop version?
Thanks,
There is a Honeycomb Music player floating about...lemme find the apk link...
http://www.mediafire.com/?fqb967jfdx8njt5
Best player for sure is PowerAmp!!
Its for free use for about a month, after that it costs 3,50€ but it worth it
Just try it out!

When you play a song it appears briefly right above the play meter on the left hand side. Gotta click the song icon and you have fast forward, rewind, shuffle, and repeat.
Thanks for all the tips guys. the only negative thing to the honeycomb player and other third party apps is that there are no lockscreen controls!

I think you can turn the volume button into skip forward/back with PowerAmp. Might be able to do something with Widget Locker too. Not sure though.

Actually it's the best stock player I've seen on any Android phone. To find the shuffle button press the album art.
For alternatives, try the following apps and make up your mind:
PowerAmp
PlayerPro
DoubleTwist
WinAmp
UberMusic (with Metro skin)

Its thre man...just click on any part of the screen , u will get left bottom side a symbol for shuffle ....once u click that it will glow....hope it helps..
hit thanks if it helps u......
If you download the doubletwist player you can sync your itunes music and videos and podcasts. You can also download airtwist for it too, it costs some $, but let's you wirlessely sync your music. I suggest just getting doubletwist so you can sync with itunes. And yes, whatever music you sync with itunes can be played with any music/media player.
I use both PlayerPro and PowerAMP. PlayerPro has equalizer preset for headphone looks just like one of those audio tweaks for sgs2. You can use Volume up/down buttons to change next/previous songs on PlayerPro.

Superclean - Volume Music controls possible?

After dealing with far too many bugs, I recently switched from CM7 to SuperClean3. One CM feature I'm really missing however is the volume button music controls where you change tracks when the screen was off.
Any chance at all a general mod exists that I can load to get this specific functionality or is is something that's only enabled through custom roms?
Thanks!
I suspect that's a custom feature built into the CM Music app
You'll probably have to go to an app like PlayerPro to get that feature with a Stock based ROM.
It's not just tied to the stock music app, it works with all music apps on CM7. There'a a MIUI mod that adds this feature as well. I've seen the long-press volume to skip tracks added into stock roms too, although they were for the incredible. I'd think the functionality could be added into superclean with a similar method though, have you asked the developer about it?

I saw that MIUI mod as well which gave me wishful thinking something like that could be created for a stock ROM. I didnt think to ask the SC dev as he "milestone'd" it a few weeks ago, so just assumed he wouldn't. I suppose wouldn't hurt to ask.
Thanks for the responses.
No problem. I have seen that functionality built into other roms, (I'm thinking of the "Stock plus" rom for the incredible by jermaine151) so it definitely can be done. No idea how easy to implement it would be though, or if the dev would be willing to invest time into it.
I think there's an APP in the market called "next song" that will do this for most music players.

New Music player

i've been a longtime miui music and playerpro user. N7player definitely takes the cake
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.n7mobile.nplayer
yo! Thanks for the suggestion mate. I've just installed it and it sounds and looks awesome.
I was using a semi-working Miui player port on cm7 as of lately (still better than stock Music.apk), but this made me uninstall it. This is now my default audio player.
Others tried: zimly, neutron mp, winamp, poweramp.
But this seems a winner. Thanks again.
no problem. just wondering how long it'll be before they make it a paid app. I think they should leave it free for awhile and gain more publicity. anyways, I wouldn't mind paying for this app especially if themes can be integrated

Strange; which nightly? I'm on Maniac103's Feb. 20th and it works flawlessly...well, almost.
Here's a couple observations on that player and more:
This player excels in getting (and displaying) album art pics; it even makes them accessible to other apps. So this means that the stock Music.apk can finally and easily have album art covers for pretty much all songs and single mp3 files -that without any additional app such as albumart grabber [which didn't even really solve the problem anyway].
Cm7's lockscreen sees N7 player as the main player; so the lockscreen buttons control it and not the default player [big +1 in my book]. But there's no song name or albumart displayed on lock screen; no biggie and it has its own lock screen mode anyway..
So the only real need of keeping the default player installed is to quick-play a single song from within a file explorer (from the 'download' folder for example) because somehow, if you uninstall it there's no mp3 file type (mime) assiociated with the N7 player. So you get 'mp3 is not recognized file type by the system', 'System can not play this file type' ~or something similar anyway.
Now, all that being said, I still don't like to keep the cm7 default music player for one main reason: it also adds a "Videos" link in the app drawer wich links to a directory of all video files on the phone -hidden or not!!- .
You can't freeze (with TB or other app) that Videos 'shortcut' independently from the Music.apk nor you could (or would really want to) lock it (i.e.: add a password to the default audio player) with an app like Smart App Protector...
Any alternative? Yes: ICS's Music2.apk [attached - taken from the ICS dump release a long time ago].
Disclaimer: OK, this is not 100% proven science here; I did not check logcats and search for problems... but I haven't had any issue with this player yet for what I expect from it - but use at your own risks...
So backup, rename or delete the stock Music.apk from /system/app and place the ICS one in there and dont forget to set its permissions/ownership. Reboot and privacy problem solved!!
N7 and ICS' Music: best free audio combo in town
--> Music2 looks much better as well; more ice-creamy
Got some issues compared to Poweramp
- Can't detect song's cover art. Can't import from SD card. Need to download from internet
- No lyric
But overall is pretty impressive. Hopefully will get more feature soon

Does anyone know if there's a way to get the cm7 lockscreen to control winamp? I use winamp becasue i have lots of flac files i'd rather not have to convert everytime i put them on my phone.
thanks
Very nice, I like the interface a lot but its missing features I like in Poweramp so going to stick with that for now... plus I only just payed for Poweramp so want my moneys worth before changing
Will be keeping an eye on how this app develops though, when things like lockscreen gestures and a few more control options appear I can see this one being a winner
Thanks for the head up
THX. Have a try
n7player Music Player...THX,have a try
It has beautiful UI and the effort on that part is very appreciated. But I must say, it comes nowhere close to the sound quality of Poweramp. None of them do.

Sense 3.6 Music Player port to sense 4.0

I am running a Sense 4.0 ROM and cannot stand the new music player and the UI for it, does anyone know if it is possible to get the sense 3.6 music player back onto the phone with running a 4.0 ROM?
i totally agree. the sense 4.0 music player blows ass. I find it very difficult to locate my music.
Really, nothing?
I can't believe there aren't more people who don't like the sense 4 music play it is terrible, slow, and looks horrible.
have you tried to just put the sense 3.6 music.apk into system/app folder.
match the permissions and do a reboot?
I think the Sense 4 Music player looks great! Its not slow, nor does it look horrible. hell, it looks a hell of a lot better than the 3.6 player.

How would I go about matching the permissions? And where could I find the sense 3.6 music.apk?

easiest way is to just use a file explorer like root explorer and drop the apk into the system/app and then just run a fix permission from clock work or what ever recovery you are using.
you would need to pull the apk out of a sense 3.6 rom. shouldn't matter which one. aslong as its android 4.0.3 with sense 3.6

It performs pretty well, but I've heard such good things about Newt's OneXxX that I'm about to flash it and try that tonight and it just recieved and update where as the RezRom hasn't seen an update in a while. But in Newt's OneXxX there is a file that says music2.apk and one that says music2.odex, what should I do in this instance?

Couldn't agree with you more, sense 4 music app is much better
I don't like the Sense 4 music app because you have to wait for all of the album arts to load up before the artist you want to pic until you can pick that artist (especially if they are way at the bottom) and it takes forever, I'd rather it just have text and then show me the ablum art when I get to playing the song. I just prefer the older app.
I am now running Newt's One XxX Rls 1.0... I then replaced the music app apk and odex files with one from a odex'd Sense 3.6 rom and then tried to flash it but it did not take saying that the update package wasn't located. Would anyone be able to help me find a way to make this work?
Thanks!!!

My music pops up right away. There's hardly any loading time and ive got a good amount of music.
I like the look of the Sense 4 music better but Sense 3.6 music app was faster and a little more user friendly. I have about 8k songs on my 64GB card so I know exactly what you mean about waiting on album arts to show up everytime u back out of the app and especially after a reboot of the phone and opening it.
It is possible to port but it will require more than just putting it in the system app folder lol.

Could you elaborate on that then? I am running Newt's One XXX Rls 1.0 and I tried to replace HTCMusic.apk and HTCMusic.odex with the two corresponding files from a 3.6 odex rom, rezipped the rom then tried to flash but it wouldnt let me.
Sorry if I wake up this old discussion, but I'm also interested in porting sense 3.6 music player to a sense 4.0 rom.
Burkejt1, did you finally manage to do it??

I agree with you here. Even if you do manage to scroll all the way to your artist, you have to wait until they load until clicking it expands the list. STUPID. Artist list should be text only and fast scrolling.
But, I like the change they made to the now playing, when you swipe from right to left you get the next track, not the next album as was the case with the Sense 3.6 player.
So what I taught myself to do is open the new player, go to my music, then HIT THE SEARCH BUTTON and type a few characters of the artist name. It is much quicker.

[Q] MusicFX equalizer? Pre-installed, but not available.

When I got my Samsung Galaxy Light SGH-T399, I was a bit disappointed that it didn't have any sort of equalizer or preset sound profiles. The sound balance is actually pretty good, but it'd be nice if I could choose "Extra Bass" or something. There's no "Music Effects" setting in the settings. Music players have equalizers of course, but Pandora or Milk do not.
Well, I was poking around with Clean Master, looking at the system apps I can/can't uninstall, and I came across this MusicFX player equalizer (it's listed in the Application Manager too, just go to the All tab). However it's not listed in the app drawer.
Does anyone know how to enable it? Alternatively, can people recommend a global equalizer app that doesn't suck, and preferably doesn't leave an icon in the notification bar?
TIA.
