[Q] Regarding S-OFF, Root and the leak... - HTC Rezound

Not to sound like a complete noob, but I have a few concerns that I cannot find the answer to.
Regarding the leak. I wanted to load is as a IMG file through stock hboot. However, will I be able to unlock, root and s-off the device on the ICS leak, or does this all need to be done before I load the leak. Reason I'm asking is because I dont want to S-off if I dont have to, however I want to be able to go back to stock if I need to. I know I need to be s-off to get back to GB from ICS.
Does unlock root and s-off need to be done before I load the leak?

You cannot downgrade without S off. It's a one way street if you upgrade and stay S on. You'll be able to unlock still though if you upgrade now.

ok, just to be clear..
I do not need to s-off before I upgrade to the leak? S-off, root, and unlocking can be done while running the leak, correct?
I am only going to s-off, unlock and root if I happen to run into issues on the leak and need to downgrade.

you should s-off before loading the leak, while the s-off procedure does work on the leak... you'll cover your ass by s-offing now, in case something happens during the leak install.
once s-off on GB, upgrading to the 3.14 leak is a snap. you can also leave the phone **locked** after doing the s-off procedure too, once you are s-off you can flash whatever and still be locked.
the 3.14 leak can be rooted. Just re-install amonRA after flashing the leak, and install su/superuser there, just like with GB.
come to irc in my sig if you need real-time help.

You are correct in your assumptions but like it was mentioned...I would highly recommend that you S-OFF before flashing the firmware.

[Q] restoring stock

Quick question, I achieved s-off the old fashion way by downgrading the bootloader, not revolutionary and I now have to flash the phone to unrooted stock and make sure it can receive OTA's.
I don't really care if the old s-off bootloader stays I'm on the 1.48.2000 bootloader with S-OFF
It seems to me that since the whole point of S-OFF is that it will now flash anything I can simply flash a stock RUU and be done with it, or will it cause issues.
I read in this thread that you could
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310014
But it's in the section for if you achieved s-off the revolutionary way.
Any thoughts? thanks.

[Solved][Help] Can i relock from s-off, can i revert to s-on

Due to the very right side of my touch screen failing I have a warranty replacement on the way. I was able to flash back to the last GB RUU from the ICS Leak without issues. However I would like to bet able to minimize the any reasons for dismissal of the claim. I know when I got s-off, it locked (not re-locked) my bootloader, however I unlocked it after to install 4ext and then root via flashable zip.
So the question is can I revert to s-on as I doubt I could re s-off update my phone to relock it.
Alright, was able to with some help over at the Juopunutbear IRC, wound up having to s-on the device, re s-off (so the device is locked not relocked) then s-on'd the device again.
Phone is 100% stock and ready for return.
Where did u get the gb ruu id like to reset back to stock

Download the stock rom you want from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617644
Rename the file PH85IMG.zip, put it on your external sdcard and flash from Hboot.
You need to have s-off to downgrade.
Did you use the writesecureflag 3 command to revert to s-on?

ICS 3.14.605.10 firmware to factory stock ota

Hey everyone I ran into a bit of an issue here. I was getting my defective rezound ready to send back to verizon and ran the latest ota ruu or so I thought..... I actually ran the ICS .10 leak I had downloaded also which upgraded my hboot to 2.25. I am s-on so from all my research I need to be s-off to downgrade the hboot so I can reinstall factory GB which I'm sure I can handle but on the Unlimited.io, website 3.14.605.5 is the newest they have.
Is it possible the use the .5 or does someone have another way to help me get s-off? I just don't want to screw it up since I'm sending it back:silly:
Thank everyone!!
.5 and .10 are the same h boots

I wouldn't worry about it. Wait a couple days see if the OTA drops like they're saying. IF it does, you'll be close to, if not stock.
However, the s-off will work with the .10 leak, too.
Thanks you two! I have to send it back in the next couple days so I couldn't wait to see IF we actually get the ICS ota. I got the .5 juopunutbear and ran that and after a few failed attempts at that wire trick I was able to finally achieve s-off! I then flashed the latest gb ruu in the bootloader which worked good and then used Scottys get back to s-on guide http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1612937which worked flawlessly and now the bootloader says LOCKED and s-on with the proper hboot!!
Now since I got all that practice with s-off I'm going to get my new rezound s-off'd!:good:
Thanks again!!

Unroot to get OTA ICS?

Hello everyone
Sorry for a newb question, but, how can I unroot so that I can take all the OTA updates and get the official ICS update from Sprint/HTC. I dont care about losing root as I will be replacing the phone come October. I just want it back to stock and running on stable factory ICS.
I currently am Revolutionary HBOOT-1.40.110 / S-OFF / RADIO 1.06.00.1216.
Thanks!
Well you can first do a search, as this has been answered probably at least a hundred times on here. After you do that, you would realize you need to run a stock RUU to relock the bootloader.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194053
you just have to find the zip file but follow those steps did it a while back
Is there an unroot method for hboot 1.5 with s-off? I used Juopunutbear to get s-off.
I relocked the bootloader then ran the stock RUU and that did the trick

Thanks guys. I ran the RUU, then did all the OTA updates. Im now on official stock ICS, bootloader 1.58, relocked, and still S-OFF
is it possible to unroot but keep s-off? i want to sell my phone but i would prefer it to be kinda pseudo-unrooted so i can easily revert back to s-off. I should probably just completely unroot though.
Is possible to reunlock the 1.58 hboot after we take the OTA using HTC dev method?

Return from unlocked to 4.3 Stock

Hey all,
so I've been running ARHD on firmware 127.538.8 for awhile. I saw the RUU come out for 4.3 on Tmob, so obviously I was all like, **** yeah! So I flashed a stock ROM (based on 127.538.11) and then tried to run the RUU. Unlocked, S-OFF. For some reason, the RUU flashed Hboot (I'm currently stuck at 1.55.00) and then decided to throw an error 155 at me. So I tried relocking the bootloader, with a command I found browsing the forums that sets the status to Locked. Flashing the RUU here didn't work either. Re-unlocked the bootloader (I have no user data at all... it's sad). I realized, okay, I'm Unlocked and have a custom recovery installed (TWRP). Even if I relock, the RUU doesn't flash. My idea right now is to flash the 127.538.11 RUU to get Hboot 1.44, as well as a working non-hacked firmware. I'm not sure if that RUU will work, though I'm hoping it does. If it does, then I can OTA update without a problem.
Do any of you have any ideas as to how to do this? I can RUU to 127.538.11, then downgrade to x.8 and use revone to lock my bootloader and attempt an OTA. I'm not sure what to do here... I can also reflash ARHD 30 and stick with that for awhile. I can do basically anything recommended, as I have S-OFF and TWRP.
Thanks!
I don't mind being stuck on stock, however I do want to be able to warranty my phone in the future -- will having hboot 1.55.00 with 127.538.8 firmware be a problem? Can I downgrade my hboot since I'm S-Off? Any help here would be absolutely wonderful...
