Unroot to get OTA ICS? - HTC EVO 3D

Hello everyone
Sorry for a newb question, but, how can I unroot so that I can take all the OTA updates and get the official ICS update from Sprint/HTC. I dont care about losing root as I will be replacing the phone come October. I just want it back to stock and running on stable factory ICS.
I currently am Revolutionary HBOOT-1.40.110 / S-OFF / RADIO 1.06.00.1216.
Thanks!

Well you can first do a search, as this has been answered probably at least a hundred times on here. After you do that, you would realize you need to run a stock RUU to relock the bootloader.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194053
you just have to find the zip file but follow those steps did it a while back

Is there an unroot method for hboot 1.5 with s-off? I used Juopunutbear to get s-off.

I relocked the bootloader then ran the stock RUU and that did the trick
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium

Thanks guys. I ran the RUU, then did all the OTA updates. Im now on official stock ICS, bootloader 1.58, relocked, and still S-OFF

is it possible to unroot but keep s-off? i want to sell my phone but i would prefer it to be kinda pseudo-unrooted so i can easily revert back to s-off. I should probably just completely unroot though.

Is possible to reunlock the 1.58 hboot after we take the OTA using HTC dev method?

Go here: LINK
Downgrade your HBoot and get back to 1.40.
Why don't you just root without downgrading?

After a while of having to use the flash image gui app, it gets pretty annoying not being able to use Nandroid backups. That is why i am trying to downgrade myself.
Makes sense. Then check out the link vdubtx posted.
I would like to have S-Off instead of s-On

You can root, but you also forfeit your warranty to HTC by doing HTC Unlock, that code that you use to unlock it, gives them your device info, including serial number and when you bring it to sprint for repair, they can just look it up and see that you've rooted and voided your warranty.
Any files will work what is the latest 1
none of the RUU working do I have to format my SD card and I am trying to downgrade back to 1.40 which RUU file is i am clueless please help thanks I want S-off
I notice i have 2.17.651.5 already I seen that in the file which RUU file I need to downgrade to HBoot 1.40 please _2.08.651.2 i rem seeing that before my phone got that OTA by mistake.

[Q] restoring stock

Quick question, I achieved s-off the old fashion way by downgrading the bootloader, not revolutionary and I now have to flash the phone to unrooted stock and make sure it can receive OTA's.
I don't really care if the old s-off bootloader stays I'm on the 1.48.2000 bootloader with S-OFF
It seems to me that since the whole point of S-OFF is that it will now flash anything I can simply flash a stock RUU and be done with it, or will it cause issues.
I read in this thread that you could
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310014
But it's in the section for if you achieved s-off the revolutionary way.
Any thoughts? thanks.

[Q] Regarding S-OFF, Root and the leak...

Not to sound like a complete noob, but I have a few concerns that I cannot find the answer to.
Regarding the leak. I wanted to load is as a IMG file through stock hboot. However, will I be able to unlock, root and s-off the device on the ICS leak, or does this all need to be done before I load the leak. Reason I'm asking is because I dont want to S-off if I dont have to, however I want to be able to go back to stock if I need to. I know I need to be s-off to get back to GB from ICS.
Does unlock root and s-off need to be done before I load the leak?
You cannot downgrade without S off. It's a one way street if you upgrade and stay S on. You'll be able to unlock still though if you upgrade now.
ok, just to be clear..
I do not need to s-off before I upgrade to the leak? S-off, root, and unlocking can be done while running the leak, correct?
I am only going to s-off, unlock and root if I happen to run into issues on the leak and need to downgrade.
you should s-off before loading the leak, while the s-off procedure does work on the leak... you'll cover your ass by s-offing now, in case something happens during the leak install.
once s-off on GB, upgrading to the 3.14 leak is a snap. you can also leave the phone **locked** after doing the s-off procedure too, once you are s-off you can flash whatever and still be locked.
the 3.14 leak can be rooted. Just re-install amonRA after flashing the leak, and install su/superuser there, just like with GB.
come to irc in my sig if you need real-time help.
You are correct in your assumptions but like it was mentioned...I would highly recommend that you S-OFF before flashing the firmware.

Hboot 1.19 - Return to Stock

So the latest update totally screwed up my stock evo. Sprint was super unhelpful in trying to replace it, so instead of waiting for them I rooted the phone and installed MeanRom. Now I have an unlocked rooted evo with hboot 1.19. It still have a lot of freezing and rebooting problems so I'd like to return it to Sprint for a new unit. I hear that trying to downgrade using an older RUU with hboot 1.19 will brick the phone. Is there a safe way of returning my evo to stock so that Sprint takes it back? Thank you for helping this noob out.
Did you do a NANDROID backup before flashing the ROM? If so, start by restoring your phone to it's previous state.
You cant downgrade. It wont brick it, it just wont work
Relock the bootloader and flasht the 1.19 RUU. Thats your only option for unrooting

Thanks, this is what I'd like to do. Is there a 1.19 RUU around yet? Does anyone have a link?

[Q] Get bootloader unlocked and I already have S-OFF

Hey! A while ago I rooted my phone using the revolutionary method. Later I reverted back to stock and locked the bootloader. However the S-OFF remained. A few minutes ago I had 1.53 HBOOT and ICS stock. But now I got HBOOT 1.49.0007 and I wanna use revolutionary tool to unlock bootloader yet again. But now it gives me an error saying, "Failed to get root! "
Is there another way to get rooted WITHOUT using the HTC method since I already got S-OFF and 1.49.0007 HBOOT? I don't feel comfortable using HTC's method....

I think the "Failed to get root!" message is because HTC patched the tacoroot exploit in the ICS builds that was being used for temp root with the GB builds.
Why do you want to unlock the bootloader? If you want to run the additional fastboot commands you should be able to just flash the JBear version of the current bootloader, or does that cause problems on the GSM model?

Since you are S-OFF you can flash whatever bootloader you want. I don't know revolutionary method, I was using jbear to get S-OFF. After S-OFF i flashed RUU and I was on stock 1.53.007 locked bootloader with S-OFF and i couldn't root my phone. I've flashed hboot from this site:
http://unlimited.io/jbhboots.htm
There you have 2 versions of GSM Evo 3d hboots. After that you can do everything with your phone. Good luck!

I contacted unlimited.io's support in the IRC and downloaded the ICS HBOOT - 1.53.5353 and flashed that. Now it seemes to work!
Anyway, thanks for your answer! If they wouldn't have responded then you would have been my savior!
Okay, problem number two.... I have flashed CWM now and I installed Super User inside recovery mode but I don't get root access? I downloaded the signed package from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1991929
Any ideas?
I have tried to repair premissions after the install of Super User. I have also updates Super User from Market after Install due to force close after the fresh install from CWM

Follow method B (steps 1 to 14 if you want to be on rooted stock) and it should be ok. If I remember correctly, there is a 4ext recovery to download, maybe try this one. Good luck!
