Bluetooth profiles in ICS - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After upgrading to ICS from CheckROM V6 (ginger bread) I seem to have lost the rSAP or SIM access profile. Has this been removed from ICS, can anyone confirm which profiles are supported in ICS?
I could go back to GB to test that it's not my car that is at fault as it stopped working after I got my car back from the dealership.
Thanks for your help.

Well it's not my car, I downloaded the rSAP application from the market and installed it. This now gives me the rSAP profile and I can connect to my car in rSAP mode or HFP mode.
So it seems it's missing from ICS, that might make the SIII a no go depending on how good this little app is in the real world.
Apps from the market
Remote SIM access installation
Remote SIM access trial

Which ICS ROM did you upgrade to? I would expect Stock based ROMS to have rSAP and AOSP/AOKP ones to not have this support...

If you look on the google android code site, you will find it is a common problem so it seems to be stock roms that it refers to.

[New Project] Help needed on getting TMC running on X10 Navigation

Hi Ppl.,
I'm starting a new project with this thread.
Goal is to get TMC running within Navigation Software on X10.
As we all know from the specs and my determining over here, that there is no FM Chip assembled to the X10.
But our User drobec208 had the Idea to make use of an external bluetooth / TMC device.
The Idea is to use the "FM9BT-C", made by GNS GmbH with "usually TMCable" navigation software. (Nice side affect: FM9BT-C also brings a 5V, 1A USB Charger ).
I ordered one FM9BT-C and received it yesterday.
As I make use of Sygic mobile maps for Android, I knew from the .ini files, that TMC is just deactivated after stock installation of Sygic.
Within the folder: "\sdcard\Drive\Android\" you can find the .ini files too.
But now, I'm a little stuck.
I can't even connect FM9BT-C to X10.
Pairing works fine, but the my phone shows: "Paired but not connected".
I also can't connect both devices.
I guess, it's the same issue, like I had with my Bluetooth keyboard:
Android 1.6 is simply not capable for HID Devices.
So I guess its same with the TMC Device.
The TMC Device needs to be set up with a COM Port.
But atm I don't even get so far.
So guys, whats your advice?
Any Devs around, that can help out?
Do I have to wait for 2.1 this month?
Is Android not TMC capable at all?
Kind regards,
McK
O.k., as far as I could determine myself, a Bluetooth COM Port is needed for sure.
But how can I set it up in Android?
Is is that impossible with 1.6?
if it's connected via BT I'm affraid the problem is limited Bluetooth profiles support on 1.6. The USB on FM9BT-C is just for charging?
O.k., I feared something like that.
As the Update to 2.1 will come in a few Weeks, we will see more, after it was released.
Du you know something about the profiles in 2.1?
Japp, the USB connector is for charging only.
not much, just google I'm waiting for 2.x just because of BT profiles and my SE MBW-150 support via OpenWatch http://beta.smartmadsoft.com/
http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-2.0-highlights.html#PlatformTechnologies
http://www.google.com/support/forum...n&fid=40c6f9447eac44e600047f171034e819&hltp=2
otherwise I'm affraid we have to wait for 2.2
http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-2.2-highlights.html#PlatformTechnologies
I've also recently found this Thread in a German Forum:

Roughly, fast and only the important thing translated: Wit Android 2.1 for X10, the Bluetooth Stack will be updated to Bluetooth V 2.1, which introduces:
- secure simple pairing
- GAP Generic Access Profile
- GOEP Generic Object Exchange Profile
- OPP Object Push Profile
- PBAP Phonebook Access Profile
- SPP Serial Port Profile
So, we have to wait a little more....
@MBW-150: OMG? S///E X10 isn't supporting a S///E Bluetooth Watch... *[email protected]///E*
Uhm, bad news.
I still get "paired but not connected".
Even after updating to 2.1.
I guess the connection has to be initiated by software (like on the bluetooth keyboards).
Does anybody know the name or so of the bluetooth com port?
I'd try to connect through Sygic Mobile Maps.
hi, I'm not glad to hear that.
what happens if you try to find TMC device from within the Sygic?
P.S: My MBW-150 finaly works with X10

Unfortunately: Nothing...
My last hope is to set the bluetooth comport manually within Sygic.
With a little chance, it will activate the connection if it knows the way...
But I don't know the port
Is there an app, to list the ports or so?
maybe http://code.google.com/p/android-serialport-api/ ?
Uhm... I have no idea how to use that App

Bluetooth auto-connect settings

Hey all, I am posting in the Dev thread in hopes that someone with working knowledge replies. I am running my own Rom on an optimus-T based on V10L - I wanted Tmobile's wifi calling, Sipdroid doesn't work for me or maybe vice versa. Everything works as it did out of the box or better... my ROM is just a stripped down the factory V10L ROM with swapped kernels, launcher, enabled JIT, etc.
One thing that I dislike about the current bluetooth configuration that I have seen implemented on the LG based builds is that bluetooth doesn't connect automatically. For instance when I get in my car and turn on BT it should connect automatically without me going into "settings>wireless>...>connect". CM always did this perfect on my old phone both audio and phone would connect with nothing more than turning on the BT in the notification bar settings. So how do I get this working as CM does with my current ROM? Is it in the config files or the BRCMBluetoothServices.apk?
I have tested mik's cm7 to verify that it works as desired and it connects as it should but there is no call volume only media...what gives?
Any input is appreciated! Thanks

[Q] How to trick ICS to think it's on WIFI?

I am currently running an HP Touchpad with CM9 Nightlies, and use a Bluetooth Modem Dialer to tether to my Blackberry via Dial Up Networking.
However, many apps do not believe they have an internet connection. Anyway around this?
Examples: Browser works, Play Store works, but I can't download apps. Weather Channel doesn't work, but Tapatalk works.
Edit: Could be a carrier issue... but I doubt it. I'm thinking that different apps access the internet differently, I really don't know exactly.

[Q] Bluetooth not autconnecting to devices that are already paired (functional)

I have my evo on jelly bean (ota + root, S-ON, booloader unlocked, TWRP). Previously when it came into range of my car's Bt, my HS3000 samsung receiver, or my Bt receiver on my HTIB, simply turning on bluetooth would connect to whichever devices were around. after jelly bean (or some inadvertent setting change on my part) i now have to go to BT settings, select the device i want it paired to and click it. After this, connection is established and media/phone etc all work fine.
Its a little annoying to have to do connect to the devices manually even though they are already paired...
I have tasker, maybe someone with a little experience automating this kinda process can tell me how to make it look for the three devices when i turn on bluetooth and connect to whichever one is available. I know the phone is capable (it did this on its own before Jb), im not sure if theres something im missing/or if i jacked something up without knowing.
any advice is appreciated, I did search for people who were having similar problems to no avail. If i missed this particular answer, please dont flame me (im an evo lte newb)

My 4.2.1 System is missing Bluetooth PAN / DUN Support

Hey Guys,
first post here, so hopefully i don't do anything wrong
Got myself a Freelander PX1 Tablet with Android 4.2.1. Unfortunately I am stuck while trying to use my phone's internet connection via bluetooth. From what it looks like my android system is missing the Private Area Network PAN client support. (no /system/bin/pand)
Is there any way to 'install' this? As the tablet also does not recognize ad-hoc wifi spots I am unable to go online
Thanks!
Cheers
-Daniel
anyone?
I'm wondering the same thing. I just managed to pair an older Lenovo A1 Gingerbread 2.3.4 with a Galaxy S4 JellyBean/CyanogenMod 10.2 by having them pair, then the phone turn on Bluetooth tether (which Gingerbread doesn't support), and connect to the PAN from the tablet using pand.
This works but it's a complete pain that JellyBean doesn't have pand anymore!? Meaning I can't hope to repeat this with 2 JellyBean devices, only older and newer, or some set of in-the-middle Android versions...

sorry to hear that at least that means its not my fault^^
Ok! I happen to have this this post open in my browser so I thought I would share in my success, however obvious it is.
I managed to get a hold of a 2nd JB device. I tested this with 2 Samsung S4s. On the "master" device go into settings -> Network More... -> Tethering- > Enable Bluetooth sharing. Don't do this on the other device. Then pair the devices like normal. The end device should automatically tether through the 1st "master" device. You'll see a BT icon with brackets around it in the system tray. The BT icon will be lit blue on both devices.
If you get into the adb shell and have iwconfig around, on both devices you'll see a new network called "bt-pan". The "master" device will be a .1 (e.g. 192.168.40.1) while the "slave" will be given a DHCP address from the "master". (e.g. 192.168.40.124)
The "pand" tool set is not longer needed. You can just pair normally with newer devices. If you're pairing an older Android device that has bluetooth but not the bluetooth tether option in setting, like my Lenovo A1 GingerBread (which I keep for testing), you'll need to manually using pand to setup the PAN. There are apps that will do this for you.
Hope this helps.
