I think the last thing on Sprint's mind right now is the contest, they have big issues right now. Having your flagship Android phone blocked by customs is a scary thing, they're losing pre-orders everyday the phone is held up.

He's talking about the galaxy nexus "Datastorm" contest from about 2 months ago I presume. My understanding was they don't typically release names, but you can (snail) mail to request the list of winners.
I think that most of these contests are bunk, I entered one around superbowl time for one of the new thin super laptops from asus.
As soon as the super bowl was over the ads all but disappeared, they said they'd announce the winners on facebook, I checked for two weeks from the time they said they'd announce it but it never happened.
Could it be some sort of marketing tactic? To just say your giving something away but put it in the fine print that it's all bogus, come to think of it I have never actually read ALL of the fine print.

Really, is it that bad not being able to bill to your account? I mean, you would have to pay on the next billing cycle anyways, so it's not really that big of a deal. If people are thinking of going to a completely different service just because they have to pay for a device a few days sooner, that seems a little silly.
It's not Sprints job to be a bill collector for a third party. Not sure why anyone would care whether you paid Sprint or Visa for your phone. Heck you can now earn points on your credit card now vs paying Sprint.
This is a good thing for Sprint and it eliminates one source of cramming and dealing with having to collect from deadbeat customers who buy and run.
If it hadn't been for bill to account, I would not have gotten the last 3 phones from Sprint. Especially the EVO 3D.
I think you guys are missing the point. Point being sprint doesn't seem to be the company they used to be with all the changes. I'm not saying I'm switching, I know some are. I think everyone is basically saying that all the perks that brought people to sprint in the first place, are being changed slowly but surely. Lets try not to turn this into another damn argument. **** gets old.

In all honesty, it's posts like these that start arguments. We were just having a conversation.
Should I get a Galaxy tablet this way now? Just to milk them for stripping this.
I was always able to stretch this within 2 Billing cycles & comfortably buy accessories this way, this really sucks.
It made the stupid fees & taxes bearable, come upgrade time.
This unlimited data slowly isn't wowing me as much, the things that made Sprint great collectivly are falling down to the 1 thing........... they better make good on Evdo rev. B & unlimited LTE.
Where is the balance of good news vs this?
Why not limit it to good standing customers? Or Premier Go-..... -_-.

just a little taste of what the US Gov would do if they didnt like a web site, they would "ask" for the cord to be pulled. Ive emailed and called like crazy yesterday and this morning to get the word out. Sad that the Gov would use this as a foot in the door to control something that was designed to be free. Makes me sick!
I was shocked how fast that ticker moved. I signed right around 22k and then before i knew it we were there! The Gov has picked a personal fight with the internet... good luck! haha

saw it. watch them all here every week. What I thought was funnier was the phone they were using in the Speed social media center(social garage) was the Samsung Epic 4G Touch...least thats what it looked like when R. Wood was showing off the Nascar app....Found it real interesting they didn't give him an EVOLTE to use....esp if they had a ton of signage for it...

Yes I did and yes it was everywhere. Last year they were showing off the EVO 3d to all the drivers and even the announcers had them. its also in the best buy ad this morning. I bet a lot of people go there and are pissed when its not

I've been having problems with my OG Evo for like a month now. I didn't know about the charge dock problems even though I'm always here flashing new roms. I was anxiously waiting for the new one and then all of this happened. For a while, I was seriously considering cancelling my order but then I realized that that would be a win for Apple and I could not contribute to their gain. I decided to wait patiently for my phone.
In terms of the patent I think its BS, and this is coming from a software engineer. I don't want to go deep into that discussion but working with code is a whole different ballgame.
In terms of the whole GS3 vs. EvoLTE vs. iPhone5 thing, I think both the GS3 and the EvoLTE are good phones. I don't know much about the iphone5 specs yet. What I can say is that apple products are not that unarguably better overall for them to have so much money and crazy fanboys right now.
The best apple product was the iPod by far. It revolutionized the industry. Everything else from there has come off branding. You can argue about the OG iPhone and iPad being nice too but that feels like a century ago. Like I said, everything else is marketing. Its funny people buying expensive macs just to log in to facebook and serious customers run parallel half of the time to use windows programs.
Right now, we have competition and we have android developers working their a** off to get a small share of the pie and that's why I can't cancel my order. After I read this, I was shocked by how this blind fanaticism is hurting the industry around the world. I don't wanna be a part of that. Like I said, some Apple products are great, but they are not unarguably so ahead of the curve for them to be squashing everyone that easy. My two cents...

Im with this, in the car industry (I work in this industry). Crap like patent wars hardly ever happen.
And your bang on most of the tech in cars is seen in mercedes first. (blind spot warning, auto cruise control, laser guided lane tracking, edb, etc.etc.)

If you had a termination fee that means you left sprint, therefore you'll have a higher monthly bill no matter where you go. Also, you'll have a metered internet cap with your spanky new 4G LTE phone, and therefore you've also opened yourself up to an overage bill on the internet if you are a moderate to heavy user.

Hello,
Thanks to being able to bill to my account, I ordered a 64gb iPhone 5 today. I am honestly not sure if I am going to end up keeping it as I have been using Androids since 2.1 (Eclair) and I really like the platform. However, I am frustrated that Sprint frakked the Photon 4G replacement and I am not fond of Samsung (too plasticky) and to a lesser extent HTC.
I was honestly praying that Sprint would get some sort of version of the RAZR. The Intel Atom powered RAZR looks amazing, but has only been announced for Europe and I think Asia.
Being with Sprint since 1999, I really am conflicted about the iPhone in general. Thanks to Sprint having to pony up Billions of Dollars just to offer the bloody thing. they have done away with the Premier Gold Program replete with 12 Month Upgrades, the ability to bill equipment to your account at any corporate owned Sprint Store, and far less understanding Account Services actions.
That being said., it will be nice to have tons of options for Accessories where with the Photon there are hardly any. Still, I am hoping a flagship Android Phone is announced by Sprint in the next month.

My wife just got the iphone 5 and it's pretty impressive. I don't understand why people here sound so indignant that a photon user would be jumping ship. There is a market for the iphone obviously. I find it a foolish exercise to try and compare phones and platforms. At the end of the day they do the same most of functions. At the end of the day
Choice of device is a personal one. If on the day I told myself I now longer care to think about my tech I might move to a different platform as well. People have reasons for moving to ios, and are better for it in many cases.
