[Q] Wolf's TW Gingerbread ROM Problem - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Currently running CyanogenMod 7 on my Xperia X10i but I want try out the Wolf's TW Gingerbread ROM.
Problem #1: I visited the Wolf's page but I when I try to download the ROM, it redirects me to another page. Should I download the Stock or FreeKernel Version because my Bootloader is locked?
Problem #2: I cannot download the FTF Bundle because the link takes me to a Filesonic account which I cannot access.
Problem #3: I can't seem to find the Speed&Hotfixes file
Please help!!!!!

Hi,
using this ROM (freekernel version), even I cleaned and tweaked it a lot

You do not need the FTF bundle with kernel and baseband if you are running 2.3.3 android with .71 baseband. If you are not, will reupload it for you.

It seems that they are not for these ROMs,I dont have them and have the best performace I have ever seen. But maybe my own cleaning did some extra speed

Thanks mate!
Thanks for the reply
Flashed to CyanogenMod 7 so now I'm currently on 2.3.5 android and baseband .71
Does that mean that I still won't need the FTF bundle ?

Yes - if cyanogenmod uses baseband .71 then you do not need to flash ftf bundle. Just simply flash the ROM itself

Thanks alot man!
Will be flashing very soon

Flashed Wolfs ROM. Experianced a great amount of lag (don't know why) so I went back to CM7-ZMOD

In every install of new custom ROM - you MUST do a Dalvik cache clean and mostly the full wipe. The full wipe is not necessary but recommended. After this second reboot is also recommended and taking a few minutes to settle

Yep. Did everything you said but still had no joy
It's okay though. CM7 feels awesome Only issue I have is with the Funny Jokes app. Lags quite often. I think Titanium Backup corrupted it's data
But no worries. I love this ROM!

[Q] Alpha kernel- question

Mods feel free to move this thread.
I just wanted to ask and make sure before i got flashing stuff, if i backup my WolfBreak CM and then flash the kernel testing <everything>, then when i get done having a look see at that if i flash bb 54 again and wipe everything then restore all but data of the CM, will the FreeKernel still be trying to load, or will everything be working correctly?
Yes.
Even yesterday I flash new kernel on my mod/rom just to checks few things. After that I went to xrec and just restore my backup and everything was at it should. I don't even wipe anything.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Everything should be sweet mate after you restore your backup with xrecovery.
Alright thanks guys
Can someone verify my steps please?
Backup CM by WB
Wipe everything
Flash SE 2.1 .435 with FashTool
Flash Baseband 52
Root
Boot into xrecovery at first and flash kernel package
install kernel call volume fix
where did you get the baseband .52 files? i can't find them anywhere..

do not flash SE 2.1 .435 u will not get radio (wifi/gsm/wcdma)
instead use these FWs (2.0.2.A.0.24 / 2.0.A.0.504) which can support (u will get radio) baseband 2.0.52

Thanks. And just to make sure if i restore my backup of my WB CM(without data, that's TB's job) it should go back to normal kernel and stuff right?
Also, will flashing the DT update from Bin4ry cause any problems? I love me some DT.

that's not correct at all....
baseband is the radio of the phone.
dual touch is from the kernel.

well then that is because you flashed the kernel and the baseband in one shot....

This is true, baseband and kernel are two different things.
But, in the baseband collection thread, there is a ftf bundle for bb .49
that includes the DT kernel.
Thus, the confusion!
I know this, because I flashed it today, for my MIUI!
DoomLord, where are you? I still havent learned whether or not Z's kernel already has DT, or if ill need to install Bin4ry's DT addon(If so, at what point in the process).

Custom ROMs require a specific baseband used by the dev. I don't think there are any custom ROMs using the new baseband. It's only been out a couple days.

If you know that, why are you trying to use a incompatible baseband with his ROM?
I find it ironic that people are using that same line over and over suddenly.
They come and ask for help then act like they know what the problem is.
Seriously i am weird ed out.
3 words i am starting to hate "Help, Please, Bootloop"
What version if Trips IRIS do you want to flash.
1.5.0 works well on baseband 67
There are a couple of files you need to patch afterwards or you may get keyboard and/or wifi issues - they are the network library and keyboard layout files. This patch was put up by cobrato but the links to them were in a thread that got deleted.
If you can't find them pm me - I should have them lying around somewhere.

Root privileges are integrated in this kernel. So you will not stay rooted almost for sure, if you flash another kernel which is not prerooted...

You will be able to update normally to ICS using PC companion, but to be ablolutely sure, you better relock your bootloader before the update...
@bbooff: few days ago I flashed ICS beta from sony page, and I used your kernel for hot boot just so I can install zip with superuser stuff.
Today I flashed stock .62fw, and wanted to hot boot with your kernel, but no luck, I needed to flash it in order to boot into CWM.
You got any idea why id did cooperate on ICS and not on clean .62
Also I couldn't do factory reset while I was using your kernel. I guess that is kinda normal as it's not stock kernel, but still I thought it should work

I have no idea!
The opposite is what should had happened.
I think that if you reinstall 0.62 (using flashtool and not wotan) and then my kernel, everything will be o.k.
If you install a custom kernel, you can do a factory reset through the cwm menu.

and about factory reset, I know we can do it via recovery, but is it normal that we can't do it from phone?

it allows you to boot with kernel without flashing it.
your kernel is very good.... simple and easy... helped me restore my phone back...
But now i am facing one more problem...
whenever I try to install any other kernel through fastboot, that kernel does not work; instead your kernel starts booting up...
Can you please throw some light on it?

[Q] Help me the Custom rom don't work on my Neo.

I have my Neo from a few months and I'm so proud of it. But, in the lasts week, I'm excited to receive the ICS update, so I can't wait and I tried to flash some custom rom on my NEO. First of all I have the .42 firmware stock with root and CWM installed with bootloader locked.
Before i tried to flash a custom Rom, I have unlocked the bootloader. And everything going well, but I try to flash 2 different Custom Rom both with the same result: in the reboot after the flash the NEo is stucked on the Sony Ericsson boot logo animation for an indefinite time, and i don't do nothing except to unplug the battery. So i return to the stock rom using flashtool.
But I really want to tried this custom rom based on ICS, anyone can hellp me?

i think the problem is causing because ur r flashing ICS custom rom directly on GB... flash stock ICS ftf file using flashtool, flash any custom kernel in fastboot mode using flashtool suitable for the ROM u want to flash (custom kernels has built in CWM), then goto CWM, wipe everything, flash the ROM, done... now that should work..
goto Settings > about phone > baseband to check the baseband's version

[Q] I thought I had it all figured out...

I recently updated my friend's X10 to 2.3.3 (she was still on 2.1 - amazing).
I went forth and unlocked the boot loader and rooted the device - no issues at all.
Now I guess I simply wanted too much. Intrigued by all the ICS ROMs lying around here I finally decided to try one.
Good so I read a few howtos, and figured I needed to flash a new kernel before I flash a new rom. First things first, right?
So I flash feralab's v4.5 kernel as it seemed to be in a stable state. The next step would have been to install Vashida Reddys 003 ROM but I didn't get that far. Flashtool told me the kernel flash was successful... unfortunately the phone didn't boot anymore. Or only until the green Sony Ericsson logo
Desperately I downloaded SEUS and went back to stock.
What is it I did wrong? :-/

okay.. I'll give it another shot. If you are new to all this all these colorful threads with hundreds of posts to read are quite a chaos you know
If you take that rom, you need that kernel and afterwards you need these fixes and gapps and this shiny addon pack etc. etc. Oh well anything else would be too easy
do I use fastboot mode or flashmode to flash a kernel .ftf file?
Edit: Found another thread. The information there was inconclusive but apparently flashmode is the right choice.
Fun Fact. In Fera's V4 ROM the English installer says: Thanks for choosing feralabs or something similar. However the German translation says "You will regret choosing feralabs". I hope I don't

So did everything work out? If your friend wants all features working on her phone I suggest you stick to gingerbread. DonutHD stock gingerbread is a really nice fast and most importantly stable on. You could find it in the development section.
Ps. You need to be on stock kernel so you should flash 2.3.3 again(if not already done) and root and go from there. Do this if your a good friend ics for x10 us just not there yet. Give my regards.
