WHY NATIVE VIDEO CALL FEATURE IS NOT AVAILABLE IN SUCH A HIGH END COSTLY PHONE?
If Google is not interested then why can't Sony provide it?
Samsung already has it...why sony thinks it is a premium brand when It cant provide such a feature...
I had nokia 5800 and was thinking of buying Nokia Pureview 808...but chose Xperia S...
What a mistake I made !!!
I wish I could exchange my phone and buy nokia 808...
Because no one is using native video calls.
Because it's a network dependant service. I would imagine the Samsung service you refer to is only between Samsung devices, using a similar service as say Google Talk, this service is not network dependant.

i would imagine there isnt enough demand for it from the general public, there are apps like skype that most people use,

Hi,
I am thinking about buying the Galaxy S II, which is a fine piece of phone. However, I was checking that Skype can be used but without video, except for HTC. So, does that leave us with options like fring only?
Is there a video app from phone to phone and from phone to PC? Is there a skype app with video out there? Or what are the options? As I don't really see the front 2MP camera if there is not even skype video.
Thanks.
Skype will add videocall for most of new android devices next months.
The HTC exclusive will be limited, they are not going to throw their business to the garbage by going only to one brand and one device, at the moment only thunderbold works.
wait a bit and we will have videocall on sii
Samsung is not only to be considered for Skype.
Skype as an organization has added Video calling to their iOS devices, and as we know, Apple is quite stern about Facetime and so on.
Skype will be implementing the Video calling facility that has been added to the iOS devices soon enough. More so, Skype has a different position due to their exclusivity with Verizon, hence they cannot just add Skype with Video Calling and have the US devices utilizing that service and undermine Verizon's rates.
any estimated timeframe when Skype video call is coming to Android?
I'm using mine on att and I noticed the video call feature but there's no reviews on it, dose anyone no what video call service is best used with this feature and I'd the stock one just gs2 to gs2
The phone supports native 3G video call on networks that support it.
Basically it works from any damn phone with this feature if both phones are subscribed to 3G and video calling.
In EU and most of asia, this means you can place direct phone to phone video calls without need of any special 3rd party service.
I can place call from SGS2 to SGS1 , N8 of my sis, E72 of my father without any problems. All phones are on different service providers as well.
I am not sure whether ATT supports this in US yet or not.
ATT doesn't support this feature.
I was poking around and they did starting in 2007. It was called Video Share, and, wait for it, it was 35 cents a minute. No wonder it disappeared.

Hi,
I am from Sri Lanka. I have received a used Dell Streak 7 from my sis which is locked for T Mobile. I tried to get the unlock code from both Dell and T Mobile but they are asking either the purchase documents or details of a data plan, both my sis does not have as she has stopped using the tablet some time back. Currently the tab is in Sri Lanka.
Can anybody give some clue as to what should I do to get this tab unlocked?
Thanks in advance,
Manjula
You'd have better luck asking this in the Dell Streak 7 forum. This is the Dell Streak 5 forum.
However, if your sister doesn't have the proper information, you'll have to pay someone for an unlock code.
To get an unlock code from dell or t-mobile you have to be/show that you are the legitimate owner. And if not your only option is to buy the code from a reputed seller.
There are some web sites as well as ebay sellers that exclusively offer the s7 unlock code. it range from $30 at ebay to $55-$80 in web sites. Yet success rate is not known. Web sites like look more promising than ebay as usual look more promising (as well as the price) than ebay as usual

when call to the simcard with other phone , only receive free line & tablet not show any or ring .
Please assist , how can fix it .
Normally I cut noobs some slack on their first post, but this post is just ridiculous. My recommendation is to sell your units, since you clearly don't have a clue what you're doing. After all, you managed to figure out how to quote what I posted, yet not actually read what I posted.
I'd have to agree, for the fact that the S7 CANNOT MAKE CALLS,
it's been asked dozens of times on the S7 forum.
The hardware is (likely) physically incapable of making calls.

the hardware is not likely .. it is physically incapable of making calls because thats the way it is being designed ...
however, there is this bluetooth hardware that allows you to make call using s7 ... i have seen that and even ipad or ipod can also make calls using it...
By make calls I mean cellular calls, the modem is incapable of making the connection.
I'm not talking about voip calls as it can do it natively.
It has a mic and speakers

Voicemail services have gained active user response and this service has been still in use by many mobile users worldwide. Even the network providers include voicemail services in subsidised rate in their package.
Anyhow, this service has become extinct in INDIA years ago!
I've tried portiing to various network and none of them actually had this service even on their customer service VR menu. One terrible moment is where customer executives and network showroom representatives actaully asks what's the use of such service :silly: Recent boom with smartphones and Mobile internet users across India is going on upsurge every quarter of the year. Indian users frenzy and the proposed intention with Missed calls have already served the purpose for a Voicemail service.
I've been going through this positive brain note, that there is or there will be a standalone Android app where once the call has not been attended or rejected, an onscreen app will play our Voicemail greet and will record what they have to say. So we can access this anytime simply by opening the app or long pressing the 1 button or whatsoever. This is really cool idea where the one who calls will just be charged with their normal call rates as opposed to the Voicemail services that once existed. I'm really opening up this view to all fellow XDA devolopers where my life is ruining up with college and concerned bull ****!
If such App persists, then let me know it! :fingers-crossed:
Cheers!

That's cool, Never heard that within any Z3 users though.
I wish there's any standalone Android App for the purpose! :crying:
Cool
You may not have heard of it, but it is there...
I have taken these screenshots just now...
Can you regret and answer after the build in answer machine started to work?
Thanks
Do NOT buy this phone in the US unless Sony gets its phones approved to work with T-Mobile & AT&T
I have a Sony Xperia X Compact and it is the BEST ANDROID PHONE I have ever had.
Despite that I have to say that NOBODY SHOULD BUY ANY SONY PHONES.
The phone is awesome and technically supports pretty much any 3G and 4G band out there but Sony refuses to get these phones approved by AT&T and T-Mobile for VoLTE.
That means (for T-Mobile as an example) that the Xperia X Compact technically supports T-Mobile's super-duper Band 12 LTE which has almost better coverage than Verizon, BUT because the phone is not approved for VoLTE, Sony phones will almost immediately get disconnected from that T-Mobile tower. You may be standing next to someone with an approved phone that has 100% coverage, yet the Sony Xperia phones will show NO RECEPTION.
Sony phones should be able to at least connect to Band 12 for data but they don't. It may technically have the ability to connect to Band 12 and even use VoLTE, but the tower refusal to keep the connection. Sony then apparently also screwed up the band prioritization, because Sony phones even have issues connecting to non VoLTE networks (eg Band 4).
As a result, ALL SONY PHONES ARE PRETTY MUCH UNUSABLE on T-Mobile and AT&T AS A PHONE.
Do NOT buy any Sony phones if you want to use them on T-Mobile and AT&T, though I can tell you that they are the BEST phones otherwise - just not as a phone.
This is pathetic and there is no response from Sony.

Unproven rumors that it will be voLTE certified. NO CONFIRMATION FROM SONY OR T-MOBILE.
Even so, you won't be able to use the fingerprint sensor, since the international ROM won't support it.
Do NOT buy!!!!

You have a really hard-on for Sony for some reason....
Everything points that it will have both of the supports for TMobile. Why not just wait and see before making such a claims?

Because Sony ****ED over buyers for the last three phone generations.
Why not stop buying Sony phones until they fix that!?
Because Sony can just as easily choose not to sell phones in the US as they can choose to spend extra to sell unlocked phones. Alot of people buy and they may see the window to release carrier phones again.
Also, because no one else produces a sub-5" android superphone and the XZ1 Compact is the only way to signal that there is a market for them.
I had the Z3 Compact and Z5 Compact. I've been on Samsungs for the last 2.5 years because they've had the smallest US flagships.

I also would buy another phone if there was another sub 4.8 screen and 13MP+ phone with USB C, SD card and 3+GB RAM.
The Xperia X Compact is the best Android device that I have ever owned.
But without VoLTE it is unusable as a phone or even internet connected device on T-Mobile.
I essentially sit on a t mobile tower at work and I don't get reception.
That is just fvkced up.
Selling these phones as Sony is currently doing is the same as not selling them ...
My x compact worked fine on Tmobile.. I would definitely recommend the xz1 and compact!!

That is interesting since everyone is reporting it not working with LTE. Just check the XDA forum.
There is currently no reason to believe this one too be different.
Man, what's wrong with you? Seriously?
You give this thread an ABSOLUTE imperative title, with capital conjunctions and all - which is BS in the first sentence, and misleading in the second, to say the very least.
Then, my hats off, only in the post you manage to make fit the relevant information that everybody can get to evaluate for itself.
Which, not only is very minor and objectively variable for whatever specific conditions one's have, but now has also that little petty incidental detail of being confirmed by multiple sources.. And it still doesn't make a difference?
Oh, and last but not least, you bring up the goddamn fingerprint problem, as if you couldn't just flash european firmware and call it a straight day.

I'm sorry to say this, but you're clueless. Any phone you buy that's not sold directly by AT&T will not support VoLTE, regardless of manufacturer. Saying it's a Sony thing and putting the blame on them is a dumbass move. I have bought countless unlocked phones from Samsung, LG, OnePlus and Sony of course and none of them support VoLTE or WifiCalling, that's AT&T (and T-Mobile) to blame, not the manufacturer. If you called T-Mobile and AT&T and that's what a clueless rip told you, lol for believing they know anything but how an iPhone works.
