How long after this phone is released do you expect it will be before ProClip releases a device-specific holder for it?
I've read nothing but good things about them and want to give them a try this time around, but I'm not sure how long I can go without a car mount (and I certainly don't want to buy a Verizon one just to use for a month or so).
Also, if anyone has any experiences with ProClip products that they'd like to share, please do.
I have had a ProClip holder for my original DInc for the past couple years and it has been great. Hopefully they release one for the Dinc 4G soon after release.

Good to know that you enjoyed yours
I googled around for news stories like "Proclip releases holder for ____X____" and then looked back at the release date for X and found that ProClip's release time seems to be about 2 months (give or take), which is a bummer. I also emailed ProClip and got nothing. I wasn't asking for an exact estimate for this specific phone, just a ballpark of how long it generally takes for new phones... and they couldn't give me anything useful.
I've used Pro Clip holders for my DINC2, Nexus and Razr. Very pleased with them. For my DINC2 I had the HTC suction mount which I hated, but it put phone into car mode automatically. Pro Clip was able to put together a mount that the HTC holder fit perfectly. I bought the DINC 4 today, as well as the car dock ($30) at VZW. This dock fits perfectly onto my older Pro Clip set up. So, if they don't have their own yet, you can buy the VZW (also goes automatically into car mode) and they can easily put together a console mount specific to your vehicle. If you need more info please let me know and I'll give you a contact name.

Has anyone seen a cradle for the TD2 yet? I've got a Brodit mount in my car with the cradle for the Kaiser, but I'm after a new one now.
Received this from Brodit when I asked about a D2 mount:
"Hi!
For the moment we can’t say any clear date but please check the web within a couple of weeks.

Just Pre-Ordered Mine
Hi
Just ordered mine from DSL.
http://www.dsldevelopments.com/brodit/Holder/HTC+Touch Diamond 2 T5353-Brodit-Holder.asp
Can't wait till it lands.
Looking at the picture on the site, it's not obvious exactly what part of the dashboard it attaches to and how?

Brodit holders come in two parts, a custom bit that holds the phone which is unique for each phone, and the proclip bit designed for your car. Where exactly on the dash it fits depends on which which car you have and which proclip you buy for your car. You're best off calling to find out, although most of them seem to have an option to fit over the central air vents.
Hi,
Any update??
I have preordered from mobilefun but still nothing.
Hi,
Got my cradle today from mobilefun. Just need a reliable navigation software.

What one did you get?, and did you get a in car charger with it?
I'm looking for one that attaches to the dash/air ventthat will also support a chrger.
Was looking at the Brodit one, and although they do look quite nice, £50+ for the holder and clip is a little steep in my mind.
I got the passive one, I already have a HTC car charger (with a pretty blue light). I only got the phone part as I already had the vent mount for my car from my previous phone. Thats the benefit really - you only need to change the phone bit. The Brodit mounts are a bit expensive but the quality is excellent and the phone fits really well

Cheers - one last question - I see the tilt and swivel, but to the rotate though 90°, so the phone can be viewed horitontally (i.e. when using it as a Sat Nav)?
Yes the mount is in two parts, the bit that attached to the car and the bit that the phone goes in. The connection between the two is a swivel joint
I've just ordered one HTC Touch Diamond2 / T5353 Car Upgrade Kit - CU S240 from here, better says - preordered.

I have this item ordered from mobilefun.co.uk, they say 2 - 3 days and it'll be in stock, but I wouldn't be so sure about that.
This is the same type of car kit I used for my Diamond 1, and that one worked very well, so I don't mind waiting for this one.
Oh, expansys says they won't have this car kit in stock until June 23rd.. so, I'm prepared to be waiting anything up until then!
still not avaible CU S240...

I have just bought the proclip and passive holder from dsl, then I bought a car charger from ebay, I will post what they are like as soon as they arrive, and if I'm clever enough to fit them in my car.
11/06/09
The cradle arrived today, it turned out that I actually ordered the wrong proclip, I intended to buy the one that bind to the right A/C vent of my (RHD) Corsa, but instead I ordered one that binds onto the bottom left of the dashboard. As it was though, I actually think the ordering error turned out for the better, the postion of the phone was still very readable, easily reachable, and it means that when I plug in the phone charger I won't see a wire dangling all the way across my dashboard, which would be unsightly as well as inconveineant. I would recommend this position of proclip for everyone, I know it seems strange that you need to look down at the phone, but when I took it out for a spin today it worked great.
Unsuprisingly, the cradle itself was fantastic way worth the extra money I paid for, the phone actually slips into position, I was sceptical at first about perfect fits, but the fit really was impeccable.
The fitting process was simple and straightforward (if I can do it anyone can) but requires a bit of brute force, but in my opinion that just came to show how sturdy the kit is. You know it's not going to go anywhere.
For those of you waiting for the ProClip car holder for your TP2 or Tilt2, they are now available.
ProClip
No, I'm not affiliated with this company in anyway, I just love these holders, and have been waiting impatiently.
I like that it allows it to slide open while being held, but it also doesn't hold it with a case on, so it's a non-starter for me.
I like to go with a car-specific mount from Panavise & a holder from Arkon.
I've got the pro-clip holder on order. I've had one for my Tilt and Fuze, and they are solid.
The device specific holder actually mounts onto a car specific mount. In my case, it attaches next to the shifter in my S2000. And yes it does suck that you can't use a case. But I prefer film type protectors like InvisibleShield to keep the bulkiness of the device to a minimum.

They've been available for GSM TP2's for a while not CDMA, at least not if you wanted the powered one. Its Brodit over on your side of the pond but its called Proclipusa over here. You guys got it first because the phone came out for you earlier.
The only one available for the CDMA version on their site is the non powered version which is the same exact clip as used for the GSM version. I'm beginning to wander if they are even going to make a powered version. There are good non powered clips made for this phone that are a third the price. $35 bucks for what they are offering is quite frankly a ripoff.
I am excited to see the ProClip finally appearing, but I'm hesitant to buy. I know there have been smatterings of this discussed elsewhere, but my main concern is sliding a holder into a groove that doesn't quite exist.
There is no gap between my phone and my keyboard. Forcefully wedging a piece of plastic in there will clearly create one, but that doesn't make it a good idea.
Those of you that have been using these for years don't seem to have any issues with this, but I need some assurances that this won't compromise the slider component over time.
Since I personally have no reason to slide the keyboard out while mounted in my vehicle, I would strongly prefer a holder exactly like this, but one the entire phone slides into, not just the keyboard part. Does that exist? (And no, not a bulky universal one.) Already have that and thumbs down...
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have the one for my original Tilt. The phone is in and out of the mount 30+ time a day. The mount lasted for about 2 months before the beginnings of failure.
One of the thin pieces of plastic on the mount, that slide into the gap between the two halves of the phone started to break off.
It took another month or so before the piece had completely gone. This allowed the phone to fall out rendering the mount useless.
I was able to put a piece of fuzzy Velcro on the mount to wedge the phone securely into place.
Two years later I I still have it. Now its time to order the one for the TP2
Which Car Adapter do you recommend guys for the Hero?
Ive seen these:

This looks a bit cheap
What about this one, looks half decent:

Any other suggestions peeps?
I use a Brodit active mount. Looks good but is not cheap (about £30 ish in UK). But then I just slide the phone in and charging starts as soon as i switch on the ignition. I have used Brodits for my last 3 phones and all have worked well.
Cool you got a link for it, found it about £34.99 anywhere recommended?
Thanks dude
Got mine from prepaymania - it was £27.04 including delivery. Now it is £28.22.
They were fine, but got let down by the lying toads in the Royal Mail who insisted they had tried to deliver but I was out. The note saying that got delivered the next day by the postman! So had to collect it from my Royal Mail depot. But NOT Prepaymania's fault.
BTW I have mine hard wired in via a ciggy lighter behind the dash. Don't try wiring it in direct or you will fry your Hero because the ciggy lighter adaptor houses a voltage reducer. No wires show and I mount it using a car specific Brodit car mount as well.
Cheers dude. I don't want tyo drill in to the dahs, do they have a sticky thing that has to go on the dash as well? Or is there another way of doing it.
appreciate the link
Look at Brodit's site here. Click on "choose the mount for your vehicle" and put in the details. They do fittings for almost every car going and none of them involve any drilling.
You then need to find somebody who stocks them. Normally easy (prepaymania may) for more common cars. May have to wait a bit longer for unusual ones
Make sure you order one for RHD cars if in the UK!
I order the one on ebay but It broken after couple of twists. After a good glue it works perfectly!
I do not know if it affects th G2 battery life a lot but i use one of my blackberry phone chargers i think it's the one for the bold 9000
so far i didn't notice much change in battery life plus it chargers more than 70~90% of battery life in about 30-50 minutes.
just to add to my previous post. I have a silicon case on my Hero and that won't fit on standard car holder. My trick is to light it up so it warm up and expand it a bit and it fit perfectly!!
Ive bought one off ebay now, a herbert reicher one! I think thats what it is called!
Will see how i get on with it!

Avoid londonmagicstore on eBay.
I bought one of these holders and they sent me one that was meant to be a for a Nokia N97 and then insisted it would fit the Hero too despite the size difference. My N96 I had at the time fit so an N97 or Hero would just fall straight out lol. Sent back and got a refund luckily.
If anyone could recommend a car holder that would be suitable for running the Hero in landscape mode I would be grateful, the Brodit and Herbert Richter ones don't look to be secure enough.
I'm looking at one on Mobilefun that seems to be the correct version of the one from Funkyfin's eBay link.
A few days ago I bought an HTC car kit. Unfortunately as a new user here, I'm not yet allowed to post external links but the name of the kit is "CU-S210". Just google it and you should get a lot of results.
It says HTC on the box but if you look closely, it seems HTC buys from Herbert Richter (the flexible mount is labeled "HR" and on the cradle, there's a "made in germany" and I assume, it is HR as well since it looks exactly like the HR ones).
My opinion: I haven't gotten round to testing it on long trips but so far it works quite well. The phone is easy to get in and out but it still feels safely in place, even in landscape mode.
Well, if you drive a landrover through the rocky wilderness on a daily basis, I assume it wouldn't hold forever (however, then you probably wouldn't use a phone for navigation anyway ^^ ) but for regular street use I see no problems with landscape mode.
My brodit holder for the Hero works fine in landscape mode - in fact that is how I use it most of the time with my sat nav app. It has a ball mount so swivels easily and holds the Hero very securely
Anyone have any experiences, good or bad, with vehicle mounts for their samsung galaxy sII i777?
I'm looking for one that will fit with my Case Mate Tough Case on (Excellent case btw, I highly recommend)
From what I can see the samsung mount doesn't work with cases. I'd like one that can at least cleanly route the audio and charging cable to it. But ideally it would have it's own connectors and be permanently plugged into my car. I'd like to just sit down and dock my phone in it and go.
Is there anything out there just like the samsung mount that will work with the case on? This is the samsung mount I'm referring to:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-ECS-V...UE22/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1321380855&sr=8-3
I'm in the same boat as you are. My 3gs had this from Belkin.
http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Tuneba..._1_2?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1321389164&sr=1-2
Looking for a mount that will do the same.
I'm really hoping someone can shed some light on this.
Maybe there are some decent universal ones out there that can be recommended?
Took forever to find it but here's the one I got:
ebay.com/itm/Platinum-MobileDock-Dash-Windshield-Suction-Mount-UUM10BB-Universal-MP3-Player-/140633919502?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item20be6f500e
Been an awesome mount. Bought back in July. For a few weeks it was in my glove box and the pad was not even close to being sticky. Washed it up and it's back to like new sticky.
With the opening between the two rest points on the bottom the power cord fits perfectly.
Stays on the windshield and dashboard with no issues.
And with as small as the support arm is, it moves very little from bumps in the road.

ExoGear Mount
There is another thread on this, but I picked this one up at amazon for $18. Awesome mount, holds any phone. While it doesn't have a connection it will hold any phone anywhere with or without a case.

http://www.slipgripcarmounts.com/Using-Commuter-Case_c_21890.html
don't know if it will fit the tough case. I haven't used the mount before
I did buy one for my naked captivate and it worked great. I burned through 3 universal car mounts before I got the slip grip for my captivate
I bought a universal one from walmart for $15. Sits on the dashboard and adjust the holder itself to fit the phone. Used the google navi on the phone while traveling from the Jersey shore to Buffalo NY and back and didn't have a single problem.
The device never popped out nor did the actual unit move.
This is the one that I am looking at.
Mounts in the CD slot of your radio... of course if you change out CDs often this may not be the best for you.
I don't change CDs that often so I think it will be ideal.
What you all think?

I believe the at&t version charges at .7 amps or something. My Griffin Technology 1 Amp PowerJolt Dual Micro would be bad for my phone because I was gonna parter it with the ExoGear Universal ExoMount for driving. Would that kill my battery? This looked good till I saw the 2.1 amps. http://www.amazon.com/Potato-Techno...Android/dp/tech-data/B004NQDU5E/ref=de_a_smtd
Check out the mounts by ProClip. They are not cheap but are well made. I have a similar one to this link below that I bought several years ago for my old ipod. I still use it and have since upgraded to the ipod touch. Now will be replacing that with the SG2. Works great. However since mine is older there is quite a bit of space between the back of the holder and the phone. I simply added a piece of the foam insert you typically get when buying a phone case. Works great and now the phone/itouch doesn't tilt back.

It will be fine as that is the Max amperage that the charger can support. The phones hardware charging system limits current.

this particular one will not work with a case, as the phone fits very snug as it is, which works perfect for me.

There are a few on ebay in the $12-15 range and some on Amazon in the $25 range. I just did a search for Samsung 7.7 vent mount.
sorry - for got to mention - i already bought one from ebay - that is the problem - hence my post
the ones on ebay are flimsy, lowsy horrible things...make sure you dont buy one. the ball and socket which allows it to swivel lost its stiffness after about 10 minutes of use and i just took it off. also the connection to the vent is weak at best. the connection to the actual plastic is so weak that when I turned a corner once the thing fell out!
i had a galaxy tab 7 inch and the brodit cradle for that was nice and solid - you would have to tug hard to move it anywhere - also the ball and socket was adjustable by just making the screw tighter

U r a legend! I been checking that site for months and gave up last week!
Always the way!
Hmm I've bought the official car mount already,
and i'm waiting it to arrive...
Just wondering, what's the advantage of car vent compared to car mount?
isnt' carmount more universal? because with this you have to choose clips specific to your car?
Very tempting, the good is that for my car, Dodge Caliber, there two options, the vent and center console, i might go with the center console option
Edit: i went to the US retailer website but they do not have the tab holder listed yet only the one for the original tab, but they do have the vent and center console mount, the mount is $29.99 a bit much and i wonder how much will be for the tab holder.

I agree that Brodit mounts are superb - I got mine - Brodit Passive Car Cradle Holder Tilt Swivel for Samsung Nexus S (#511227) from Amazon UK. It is rock solid.
My Brodit from Proclip arrived Thursday. Its really nice. I originally had a ram mount in my truck for the Motorola xoom. The Proclip is nice but I ordered the console mount instead of the vent mount for Toyota 2005 Tacoma. I'm using the console mount piece as a cable organizer and just bolted the pro clip backing to the Ram mount fitting since the holes matched. I am hoping to post pictures and review soon.
