will 1.3.418 make anything not work? Namely Foxfi? - Motorola Droid X2

So basically I went to check my phone this mornign and i was given the screen that 1.3.418 was ready to install.
Just wondering if installing this will cause any issues with any apps.
Im most concerned with foxfi being disabled.
Does anybody know if foxfi still works on 1.3.418?

On a side note fox fi is the sh*t. I'm unlocked and rooted and still use that app. It works great and doesnt even require root!

[Q] Need Confirmation

Let me start first by saying, this is my second maxx because I rooted and bricked the first one the first day I had it.
I'm posting this to see if anyone can confirm a wifi tether app working on the stock rom (rooted of course) before I root this one because when I root, I'm gonna leave it on the stock rom til the bootloader is unlocked and cwm has a fully working recovery for this phone.
I am currently unrooted with firmware. 181.XT912.Verizon.end.US.
Thanx in advance.

Ill check out the wifi tether app in a few minutes here for u, but cwm does have a fully working recovery unless u mean something different than I'm thinking of. And the boot loader may never be unlocked as far as I know

There is a mobile hotspot hack on these pages somewhere. I couldn't get any tether apps to work but the hack worked wonders. Been using it a lot the last few days I've been on vacation.

FoxFi is a free app in Google Play, and does not require root. BTW, it's very doubtful that Motorola will ever unlock the bootloader.

Yes, I've been using FoxFi for about 4 months now, and VZW is non the wiser. My bill has stayed the same.
Just a note about FoxFi- occasionally, when you turn the hot spot on, it won't show on the device you want to send wifi to. Turn the hot spot off and back on again, and normally, you're good to go. It's not a perfect app... but it is free, does not require root, and won't effect your bill.

Anyone have GOOD Enterprise running on rooted device?

Hi Community,
I was wondering if anyone has got Good Mobile enterprise email app to work successfully on a rooted device? I tried renaming Superuser but no go, when it tried configuring the device it says it will not run on a rooted phone... If someone has got it working please share.

Huh??
Are you asking if there is a good alternative email that works with Exchange?
If so, try Enhanced Email, works perfectly for the year + I have had it, also allows bypass of the PIN code.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda app-developers app
No not exchange, there is an app in the market called "Good" for connecting to an enterprise exchange server. Larger companies have started using this to replace Blackberry devices. They make an app for aOS & iOS.

You can hide the fact that your rooted threw different apps available on the play store. Try a few to see if they will help.
#Root-Hack_Mod*Always\=LTE
I never had an issue with Good and my rooted OG Evo but I don't use it on my LTE Evo.
I am currently running Good for Enterprise on my rooted LTE with no problems. Ran it on stock rooted, Meanrom, and now Tranquility without any problems. Never gave me an error or message about being rooted. I also ran it on my Evo 3d and Evo 0G.
I think it may only check for a rooted device if your company enables the check...The company I work for says on the policy doc that you are not allowed to access the company email with Good if you are rooted and it checks during authentication. I will try those apps on the play store that hide the root status and report back if they work. Thanks for the tips.

Thanks Laie! I found "Hide my root" and it hides the root binaries and temp removes superuser so I think that will work, the app has over 10k DLs and many 5 star ratings...I'm too excited been wanting to root this bad boy since I got it but couldn't because of this issue. I appreciate the idea don't know why I didn't think about that...there is an app for almost every thing these days!

Hi, so did Hide my root work? Don't want to root my Galaxy Nexus (Verizon) and start fresh then realize I can't access Good. I had it rooted a while back and my company definitely has that check enabled
I'd also like to know if OTA Rootkeeper or Hide My Root work for this. I have MobileIron coming down the pipe and would like a way to keep my custom ROM and remove root.

I'm using Thundershed 1.6 w Zoom Kernel. My Verizon works for me. I downloaded it through GooglePlay. Only thing is it doesn't auto log me in and it comes up with a missing info page when click but you simply click ok and it brings you to the login for the app and works from there. The data widget no long auto updates either. You have to click on it, log in to update it each time. Can use it on 3g/wifi/4g.
Maybe check out google play to see you have the latest version?

[Q] Wifi hotspot without rooting??

So my buddy just got this phone and he's saying foxfi no longer works for him(from what I've read this seems to be accurate).
He's on an unlimited plan with Verizon and he's wanting me to root his phone tonight so he can get a hotspot app... Before I root it i wanted to make sure 1. That there isn't any hotspot apps that work with the DNA without rooting and 2. I wanted to make sure there are some hotspot apps that work after root. I've been researching and it sounds like most people are saying you're sol unless you go to a share every thing plan through Verizon.
Thanks for the info!
I want to know exactly the same thing. I need internet for my tablet. I'd rather not root, but I will if something works for sure after that.

I am not rooted. 100% stock. I have not unlocked this phone. I unlocked my first one and then it died several days later of a hardware failure and so I am waiting this time to make sure this new device is solid.
All I do is go to settings>more>Mobile Network Sharing>Turn on Mobile Hotspot. I setup the wifi there and then connect with my tablet.
Perhaps its because i am on the Share Everything Plan?

Yeap play store, search wifi tether by Muller Lemons and Buxton https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.googlecode.android.wifi.tether&hl=en
If you tried this and didn't work, it's because of the settings. Also, make sure with titanium backup you delete TetheringGuard.apk and mobile hotspot, they're both system apps. If you're not using titanium backup the system file for mobile hotspot is wifirouter.apk or something like that.
Download the app and before you ever even try it, get your settings configured. You press the menu button when you're at the apps home screen to get to settings. Set device profile to HTC Rezound CDMA/LTE
Change setup method to Netd NDC Master
Check to Enable Routing fix
Be sure to grant root access. Don't enable wifi encryption until after you've set it up and run some tests without encryption. That way you'll know where the problem lies if you have one, but it should be just fine. I may post another link to something I'm testing now.

I mean it will just start dropping 4g signal every ~15 seconds for no reason. Some users have the issue, some don't. But once it starts, it never stops.

If you dont pay for tethering I think verizon will catch you because according to a few sources there are safeguards they have like packet sniffing and id checks. Correct me if im wrong.
