[Q] Pershoot Kernel Problem - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I couldn't find any specifik thread with the search option here so forgive me if it was already asked (if it's wrong section also sorry)
I have the Galaxy Tab 10.1 P7500. I just have Stock ROM (Honeycomb 3.2) and I was searching for a kernel that allows you to overclock the Tegra 2. I saw some people talk about the Pershoot kernel which allows you to overclock with SetCPU (I already bought it once for my smartphone so that's not a prob).
But the problem is screen is rolling over and over again.
People had similair problem with Clockworkmod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1555984
Does anyone know how I can fix this? If not maybe other OC kernels I can try? Cause I hope I can use overclock with my tab

Which kernel are you using exactly (post a link)? Because that sounds like you flashed the wrong version. For Honeycomb 3.2 this (select the right one for your model) is the latest pershoot's kernel: http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/?p=2479

I was using the following file: "boot-cm_2636.4_p4_ux_hc32-oc-xtra-vfpv3-d16_fp-010912"
I indeed downloaded that file from the site you give me now.

Have you considered using a custom ROM?
Here's a list of what's available: [All ROM][P7500/P7510]Odin Image and Customs in One Place

I was trying to do it without using a custom rom. But there isn't anyway to use oc kernel without using a custom kernel?

The post you linked is for GT P7510 then suddenly it works for P7500 at the bottom of the page. Should we use the kernel suggested by the original poster?
HC 3.2:
10.1-Wifi, Touchwiz UX (OTA, GT-P7510):
boot-cm_2636.4_ux_hc32-oc-xtra-vfpv3-d16_fp-010912.zip:
I have 3G Galaxy tab P7500. Should I use the kernel above? or should I use the ones that works for me. But then for Vergeten12 he downloaded the 010912 version and did not work. Can anyone help me to choose which kernel works with original Android 3.2?
Btw, I wanted to update my kernel to 2.6.36.4 is because with my current kernel 2.6.36.3 it does not play the HDTV adaptor well (choppy and sound came on and off every 3 seconds). I read from other forum that pershoot 2.6.36.4 kernel can fix this, but I do not want to use CM, just want to use the stock firmware (original firmware?) sorry, I am new to the vocabulary in this forum.

I rather not change my firmware if possible. So, if there is a way to upgrade the kernel without changing to CM9, I prefer that. I just want to use the recently purchased hdtv adapter smoothly with my tab.
Thanks

Look man, i had the same problem and after months of search i figured out that there is some kind of problem when you flash the pershoot kernel you mentioned to our 3g tabs. I had this problem in stock + pershoot and also in overcome + pershoot. But if you let your tab load to unlock screen and pres power buton to sleep screen and then press it again to wake it up the screen stops rolling and all is fine. But you have to do it once every time you power on your tab? Is this helpfull? It works for you?

Of you manage to flash a p7510 kernel into your tab 3g will stop working
Erm if you want a stock optimized rom go dutchdanny it'd awesome

I dunno. I kinda give up on this pershoot kernel stuff. I am just doing firmware upgrade to 2.36.6.4 firmware. And nothing else. The tutorial is not user friendly for pershoot kernel update.

I'm new to s2

Heys guy I just brought a S2 and it will arrive in 4 more days, been using a x10i and has been rooting and installing custom rom.
Now I'm new to S2, any thing in particular that I should know?
What is the Original Android Development and the Android Development difference?
Which is the some of the recommended ROM (no bugs, don't want MIUI) since there's really a lot custom rom compared to my previous x10i.
And one more question, what is the price of the HDTV Adapter? Can I connect S2 to a just HD ready tv with hdmi port? Or it must be a full HD tv?

Original android is supposed to be ASOP tweaks/roms whereäs the other has to do with touchwiz (I believe, but then again I've seen threads crossposted in the wrong section all the time). As for ROMs, I would personally stay far away from the ICS ROMs because they're nowhere near ready for daily use; there are many bugs and problems. When looking through firmwares there's no difference between XW and XX other than the countries that the ROM was released into, you can still flash these ROMs for use anywhere in the world. Personally I'm using XXKK5 because KL1 and above are developer builds with inconsistent framework changes. CheckROM KK5 is what I suggest for a stable ROM that works good. I also highly recommend JKay deluxe. CM7 is also an option, but I personally had problems with charging and was forced off the ROM. Your mileäge may vary. Also there are a ton of radio firmwares available: try out the latest revision and take note of your battery usage over a few days. Try others to see which works best for you. There's no real "golden" radio firmware. I personally use KH3 on AT&T in Phoenix.

If you wanna to try ICS ROMs, I will suggest you try simplistic. Now I use it as daily rom and I feel it's good enough.
And if you want to use HDTC Adapter , I suggest you stay in Stock Rom first. As I know, most custom roms don't support HDMI output.
There are no recommended roms. Try some out for yourself & see how you find them. A rom that works well for me will not necessarily give you the same experience.
for my opinion i suggest you flash cm7
but if like the intersting things, just flash cm7/andyX

Have you tried wiping and reinstalling the ROM
Ricey
wait for cm9, i've tried the devel vers and is very fast!
Just a suggestion
Hiya! Well, since you haven't got your phone yet, I would suggest you play around with your stock ROM first. The Original Android Development is for AOSP ROMs, ROMs that were created from scratch. The Android Development section is for custom tweaked versions of the stock ROM if I'm not mistaken.
I'm currently using Simplistic ICS but it has its fair share of bugs. You might wanna try insanity ii. It's a nice AOSP ROM. Never had FC's and it's amazingly fast and battery life is great. Good luck!
Hi bud, good choice of phone. If you want best standard ginger bread go to original development and flash intratech KK5 original Sammy ROM it's seamless!!!
Or, like me and you want to jump into ICS go to www.darkyrom.com and flash facieto's ICS LP2 THEN on top of that, upgrade to his LP6! Came out this week and it's seamless and crash free, all works!

try rewipe and reinstall ?
As I know, to get someone call your phone just solve the home-button issues.
I never met lock screen problem. I am using RC5 + Update 2 , try this combination. Also remember , don't directly flash update package after installation. Following these steps: Install RC5 - (reboot) - Install Update 1 - (reboot) - Install Update 2 - (reboot) - Call from others phone to unlock home button.
Hope this help. Good Luck , bro.
after you have root download k tool right away and backup efs, it could savr your ass some day

Is it only the stock rom support HDMI output, all custom rom doesn't support?
Or is there any custom rom that is based on stock rom and also does support HDMI output?
Is this the latest method to root S2? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399

Stock ROM, or any ROM based on stock. It needs the Samsung framework. So nothing that is pure AOSP (such as CM or MIUI) will work. If you want a ROM that is as close to AOSP as possible that still supports the MHL adapter, try GingerMOD.

See above, but there are many others. I don't personally use any of them (I'm still on stock, rooted, modded myself), so I can't recommend one above any others. It's a personal preference anyways, so you should just try some and decide yourself.

It is one of many methods, and one that I can personally vouch that it works, as I've used it before. Just use the correct insecure kernel for your build.

Thanks what I'm asking is I thought I have to charge 8hours or 10hours on first charge or it's not required?
If I stay stock, and install custom kernel will it still support hdmi to tv?
Which is the most stable kernel that also include undervolting? You recommended insecure kernel, what about the others three?

Hi guys,
I wanna flash stock Eu 3.2 honeycomb Rom PDA: P7510XXKL2 ## CSC: P7510XEUKL2 to my galaxy tab 10.1 with Pershoot's 2.6.36.4 kernel and no other modification.
Is it possible? If yes point me the way pls.
Thanks.

Yeah, just scroll down the Droid basement page until you get to the last honeycomb kernel pershoot made, and flash with CWM.

So flash via odin stock Rom, then flash CWM 5.5.0.4 and last flash this kernel, correct?

Well, first flash the stock rom simply and second flash the kernel via odin flasher in PDA section.
That's all, your done.Enjoy your custom kernel with your stock OS.
Feel Free to press THX...
Nice i ve done it and works ok.
Ty guys.
No problem dude, but if you decide you wanna change, Overcome 2.3.1 is very good, like stock but tweaked. It's not updated any more but that's because there have been no new ROMs from Samsung to make any changes from.

I ve used infamous, overcome, clean and many others which i forgot atm, but i ve faced lack of wifi reception, in time automatic updates of weather widget stopped working, Bluetooth pairing problems, on reboot no auto connection to wifi spots etc minor issues which i didn't had with stock Rom.
So lets see with stock Rom and modified kernel what ll happen.

[Q] Bluetooth Kernel for 4.0.4 Samsung

Hi All
Does anyone know of a working Kernel out atm for 4.0.4 Samsung roms as I need a kernel to release my ROM and since Mr. Siyah got his S3 he seems to have neglected the S2 community as his kernels are getting more unstable with every release
Sad though and I would have preferred to stay with Siyah for Portal Rom but is there anything out currently that's working with the new 4.0.4 roms that's not the default stock kernel and cause the wipe brick?
Been looking for days but maybe missed something.

Pershoot's kernel on android stock ics?

i just installed stock ics on my galaxy tab, rooted it, and i installed pershoots kernel which messed my system all up, it made it really glitchy and the wifi wouldn't turn on, thank God for a nandroid backup. Is their a way to fix that or does pershoot's kernel just not install right on a stock os?

I asked about this because I wanted to use pershoot's ICS kernel to resolve a screen flicker issue. It did do that, but I lost the ability to use wifi which of course makes a p7510 pretty useless.
Task mentioned (and pershoot also mentions on the DB blog) that the latest version of the kernel is really designed for use with CM ROMs and is AOSP based. It didn't work properly for me on Task's ICS and probably won't for stock either. Stock firmware with stock kernel is the way to go for now, I guess.
Thanks! Yea, the same thing happened to me about the wifi, it wouldn't work at all. Maybe they'll come out with a custom ics rom with the camera working sometime soon. I like using a rooted stock ics better than a custom honeycomb, it's just better.

Hi,
For the past while i was getting the SOD only using Siyah based kernels and Phenomenal was working fine for me, but after updating to version 6.1 my phone has started to switch off again. Is this a problem with hardware and do i need to send the phone away for repair or can it be fixed by myself some other way?
I have went back to Phenomenal 5,5 kernel and am waiting to see if i still get the problem.
Cheers.

Hello,
I have tried just about all the latest ICS and JB roms......
The make of your phone. There are many different variants of your device. I9100 G/M/P/T
Are you rooted/unrooted?
What rom you are using? -and- What kernel are you using?
Have you flashed any mods/scripts/themes?
Have you changed DPI? If yes, to what?
I have a UK T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II I9100XXLQ6
I am rooted
I was Dual Booting with SuperNexus JB Build 2 and Portal Rom 2.4 using the latest siyah kernel and i got the SOD using SuperNexus, i then removed The second rom and used the ultimate kernel cleaning script to remove Siyah and installed Phenomenal 6.1 with Portal Rom and i got the SOD a day later.
I am not using any mods or extra scripts
I have not changed the dpi
I noticed this problem when i first tried a dual boot a few months ago but has been stable until now only with Phenomenal 5.5. i have tried the other siyah based kernels and i still got the SOD.
Yesterday i flashed the Phenomenal 5.5 along with Portal rom and it's been fine so far but i can get 2-4 days before it happens then it happens a few times daily after the first SOD.
EDIT: Thats it switched off again. Think i will need to send it in for repair?
