[Q] I can't unroot HTC Legend and back to stock rom - Legend Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all , please help because I can't unroot my HTC Legend and back to stock rom.
Specs are:
Legend PVT Ship S-On
HBOOT - 1.02.0000
MICROP - 0816
RADIO - 7.13.35.05
DEC 23 2011
I've tried to install the RUU from HTC DEV but I can't..give me an error whe toll is Updating Signature - Error 140 Bootloader Version Error
Then I've relocked the bootloader on HTC Dev...and nothing
What am I doing wrong? I have to switch to S-OFF to unroot it? or to downgrade the HBOOT to 1.01 as I have it before to root it?
Thanks

Which guide did you use to root?
I believe the best way now is to use the boot unlocker method, guides are found in this forum section.
Therefore you will not need to downgrade or any of those tedious methods we once had to do.

I've tried to use the tool from htc dev to instal the _WiFi security fix_RUU_Legend_Froyo_S_HTC_WWE_3.15.405.6_Radio_47.51.35.17_7.13.35.05_release_222317_signed...but I can't...gives me error when it try to Update Signature to my phone.
I just want to reinstall the stock rom because the battery before to root took me about 2 days....and now when it's rooted and with custom rom it takes me less then a day and has some bugs ( now i have this rom: [ROM][RC4b][10.09.2011] Gingerbread 2.3.3 with HTC Sense 2.1+ )

Use hack4legend from this thread. Then downgrade to an older RUU and install all updates via OTA. You'll get back to HBOOT 1.01 and an untouched bootloader.

Not sure if you can downgrade the HBOOT but I dont see why you would need to. If it is because you need root follow these guides. Even if you already have a working goldcard make it again mine was working for other phones but wouldnt work for this.
Part 1
Part 2
Once you have finished them you should have HBOOT 1.01 with Android 2.1 full root with clockworkmod so you can flash any rom you would like.
thanks a lot
I get the way to root,I only want to know how to downgrade the HBOOT
English is not my mother tongue,so my English is not so good
pardon
For now no way to downgrade HBOOT 1.01 to HBOOT 1.00 or 0.43 .....
We wait for a solution ....

Now we have a "BECOUSE"...
AlphaRev has made S-OFF for our legends here.
alpharev . nl (without spaces)
But this is only possible with hboot 0.43
We will wait...
S-OFF is only really useful for real devs, not leaches like the rest of us.
S-OFF is good for anyone who wants to change things in system..no more signing zips

Seems you don't need to sign zips for flashing with ROM Manager. Works for me anyway.
I don't have much need for S-OFF myself -- the only thing I can think of is that it should let adfree android work right after flashing CM. Saves me the extra reboot to flash my symlink-etc-hosts.zip..

Yeah, I know, I know. It's just me being lazy end letting ROM Manager do everything for me. Download through ROM Manager and then flash both zips from recovery might be the most convenient.
(..or just S-OFF, which I plan to do when I get back from vacation )
waiting and waiting. We should be pacient.
I don't even own a Legend, but I've lurked around the Desire, Desire Z and G2 forums - and I own a Nexus One.
I've noticed that procedures for downgrading the HBOOT on these devices seem to involve making a modification to the misc partition, which then fools the phone into accepting a RUU/PASSIMG/etc that downgrades HBOOT.
I see here a procedure that downgrades from the Froyo OTA using a similar idea:
http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-legend-legend-modaco-com/323201/downgrading-from-froyo-ota/
But the resulting HBOOT is still 1.001.
Could this method be adapted to accept a RUU that will roll back the HBOOT even further?
Nope. Current HBOOT (1.x) does not allow to fool itself and this is the main problem. You may play with misc and downgrade rom, but HBOOT remains the same. The only 0.43 version of HBOOT allows downgrading.

[Q] Are you able to flash a rooted stock Ruu Rom with hboot 1.50

Hey guys i was wondering if you can flash a earlier stock rooted Ruu while on hboot 1.50 with the htc unlock method. If you were to flash one of the stock rooted Ruu, would that downgrade the hboot version to the earlier versions. Or did Htc lock down the hboot 1.50 version from being downgraded. Any advice would be helpful.

[Q] (Q Flyer) UK 3G+WiFi need s-off

Hello Flyer expert,
I have a HTC flyer UK 3g 32GB

MICROP-0850
RADIO-38092.05.0401.4
eMMC-boot

Can I use the HTCDve way to get S-off? Or I need to use the revolutionary way?
I saw they website have list 4 Flyer but I not sure which one I should use to do the s-off
They list are
Flyer (Brightstar) 2.27.1540.31_R
Flyer (TUR Wi-Fi) 2.27.1127.31
Flyer (TUR) 2.27.468.1
Flyer (WWE Wi-Fi) 2.27.1114.31
Flyer (WWE) 2.23.405.3_R
Thank you advise
First update to latest firmware (not honeycomb, which is Android 3.2), and then you can gain S-OFF
Thank you for advise,
The flyer already in Android 2.3.3, what is the last one? How to update the firmware?

Latest is 2.3.4, you can update through OTA by going to Settings -> About tablet -> System Updates -> Check, and a pop-up will offer you to download the update. Then you can get S-OFF with Revolutionary and be happy.
P.S. Yours is Flyer (WWE) 2.23.405.3_R after the update, you can check the system version in About Tablet
I updated but it still run on Running on Android 2.3.3
The only change is software # from 1.36.405.5 change to 2.00.405.3
any suggestion?

You can't get S-OFF with HTCdev, it will only unlock the bottloader. To gain S-OFF you need to use revolutionary method. And there's no need in goldcard.
after two updates the H-boot from 1.07 became 1.11.003 now.
Thank you for you help. So, I look a link From globatron,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194709

Sure man, just follow the guide and you'll be a happy Flyer Honeycomb user
Though you can't enable phone capabilities manually, you'll need to install a custom software - either CoolHoney or LeeDroid HC.
I thought the Android 2.3.4 still GB not Honeycomb, correct right.
As you said" First update to latest firmware (not honeycomb, which is Android 3.2), and then you can gain S-OFF"
If I don't to use the Honeycomb, I just like the Flyer able to enable the phone function and BT at current Android 2.3.4. and modify the current rom at
System\build.prop
as ro.ril.reject.cs.ss.enabled=0
ro.ril.reject.mo.ussd.enabled=0
ro.phone.function=1
BT function
ro.bt.profiles = 4270403
service.brcm.bt.ag_supported = 1
or flash some Chines Rom , So I still need to use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1194709 procedure to do that right?
Hi fatal1ty, Thank you
I got everything done, I flash a stock rom have modified the phone and BT.
It seems working so far.
Thank you for you help, I could not done as the way I want on my flyer without your help. Thank you again.

You're welcome, mate. Happy using your newly rooted Flyer.
as last time my Flyer already OTA updat to 2.3.4 as your advise
After I use Revolutionary to S-OFF
now the screen show
Revolutionary
Flyer PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
Hboot-6.010.1002
Microp-0850
Radio-3809005.04.10_M
emmc-boot
May 4 2011
After I rooted and flashed a PG41IMG_Gfan_Quens_BT_Phone.zip Rom
That have BT and Phone enabled but it back to Android 2.3.3 again
software # GFAN_P510e_phone
Kernel version 2.6.35.10-gb1cf1af
[email protected]#1
How Can up to the Android 2.3.4?
OTA?
No, no OTA! That way you'll brick the device
Better use FlyHigh ROM, the one you're using now probably based on previous (2.00.405.3) version. You should look at the first post of the ROM thread to see what OS version is it based on.
can I also use RUU way to do that
the Ruu I will use is this
RUU_Flyer_hTC_Asia_HK_2.27.708.1_Radio_20.3504.30.089BU_3809.07.04.06_M_release_204709_signed.exe

No, you can't use the RUU either, because you're rooted and with S-OFF.
Remember: official software on rooted/s-off'd device = brick
Just use another custom ROM that is built on 2.23.405.3
HI,
I would like explain how to run RUU to update from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 from stock ROM on my last post question.
I read a guy at China website said he did use RUU with his S-off flyer and updated to 2.3.4 at below link
http://bbs.gfan.com/android-2717771-1-1.html
On #3 he said he run RUU_Flyer_hTC_Asia_HK_2.27.708.1_Radio_20.3504.30. 089BU_3809.07.04.06_M_release_204709_signed.exe in his window computer
without flyer connect to computer and before close the RUU program, find the ROM.zip in the computer's Temp folder and copy it out, rename to PG41IMG.zip and put it into the root SD card. to flash the rom.
after flashed, delete PG41IMG.zip from SD card and copy the other one PG41IMG.zip (4.52MB) to get recovery back and run su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip to root.
Have you or anyone have try this way? Is this way will work? Would you please advise your comments?

which one of this list that i can use for downgrade my android version to gingerbread 2.3.4 ?
mine : HTC EVO 3D GSM,rooted,S-oN,KingCobraICS v.1.6 , downgrading to 2.3.4 is for downgrade hboot from 1.53.0007 to 1.49.0007 and get S-off (the whole tutorials says that must be done on gingerbread 2.3.4 CMIIW)
u cant go back to gingerbread by just running an RUU. but you can get s-off on ICS using the wire trick method. so relock bootloader and run an ICS RUU. then follow the instructions at http://unlimited.io/juopunutbear.htm to get s-off. then you can downgrade hboot
