[Q] ota update for new atrix - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I bought a new atrix with stocke rom android 2.2.1 , is there any way to have the ota update to 2.3 faster or manualy without rooting the device ?
thnx2u all

Best to just connect to wifi and wait...

Make sure you are connected to wifi. Then go to Settings->About Phone->System Update.
Posted from my rooted Motorola Atrix.

If u r using a unlocked bootloader and not with At&t then u should forget the update coz ull face network issues with the new update especially frequent phone and wifi restarts. It did when I updated and tried to flash back and got soft bricked then I tried factory reset and the phone doesn't reboots but the wifi does every 10 minutes.

LGP500 #2- updated official firmware to 2.3.3 India update? I think. Anyway since flashing Gingerbread official. Iv lost 3 G or any sort of mobile DATA. Wifi works fine. Still makes calls. But I can't make a web connection with anything but wifi
UPDATE 3 G connection after adjusting APN settings. Hope it's a perminant fix.
Also since upgrade. No wifi calling. Which is the most important feature for me since I live in a basement with no service but blazing fast internet. so in closing I either need to get Device#1 out of fastboot and running. OR somehow down grade device#2 back to old baseband. Running 2.2 froyo. So I can flash wifi calling again. any help from this great community is aGreatly appreciated. Cheers mates!

I was also stuck here on my optimus one....
Just follow the instructions in the link

While flashing you m8 get a error saying phone not found
For that just go to device manager in your pc & disable the android modem as when the phone enters into emergency mode, it automatically installs the modem... I hope it helps
OR
try this(not tested by me)

Bell SGS2 3G Data Connectivity Issues

Ok so I've been reading around in a few threads about this but haven't quite found a solution in my case and I think I need a second opinion. I've also posted in other on going threads but it just gets lost in the rabble so.... it now gets it's own thread.
Bought a brand new Bell SGS2 from a dude on Kijiji. It was brand new, still in the box with the plastic all on it. I SIM unlocked it (which required rooting it) and dropped my Rogers SIM chip in.
I can send/receive txt's but 3G data drops frequently and usually happens once I initiate a data session. My test case uses SpeedTest. I've only seen it complete a full test cycle twice... most of the time, it will get the ping, start the download test and 10% in, the data connection drops and 3G/H+ icon disappears. It takes about 1-2 mins for the data connection to return. I've tried market access or web browsing and same thing happens once a data session initiates.
I've installed a slew of modem/ROM combinations via Odin from XXKH3 to XXKI4... nothing... same issue. Seemed worse with KI4 too!
I've tried different APN settings, disabling fast dormancy and specifically trying to enable only HSPA bands. Nothing. Same problem.
I've since reverted back to stock BELL firmware and tried a friends Bell SIM chip and noticed THE SAME thing happening! So this would definitely tell me it's a hardware problem. It's been more than 15 days so Bell won't even talk to me as the return period has passed and I'm not a bell user so screw them.
I guess at this point, I should test my luck with Samsung but it's been rooted and even though I've un-rooted the binary counter shows 2 which means.... I'm screwed for warranty right?
U can reset the binary counter after flashing back to it original state by using jig. Google for galaxy s2 jig
Btw, why dont u just flash original samsung I9100XXKI3 rom? Which provide good modem. Check my signature, 'boot loop', theres a link lead u to installation guide with download link provided. All is there.

I personally found XXKI3 Modem to be best for Bell's SGS2 (currently using it on Telus).
Tried all the modems' including KI3... didn't work.
In recovery mode, fix permission, reboot and check the 3g again.
Try another method, flash cm7 nightly latest version #16. If the problem still exist, thats mean its related to phone's hardware.

Well I got it new out of the box but I had to SIM unlock it which required rooting and etc....
I did power-volume up-home... got into recovery mode and... there is no option to fix permissions. Keep in mind this is the stock ROM I put back on.
CM7 is another idea.... not against that.
Well. Maybe some failure occured during rooting your phone before. Install rommanager app from the market, open then select flash recovery mode, then select your phone model.. This will give u recovery v4 which will give u more option on recovery mode. This is the easiest way to get more option cwm. U will have fix permission option when u done.

i have the same problem i.e data loses connection. after a fresh flash of stock rom and factory reset , it starts working fine for a week or so and then the shyt happens again . i can tell u , its not a hardware issue, it more like a software issue.
i m not good at android but wen i used to run squid on a linux machine as a proxy server , i recall i had to clear a log file to make data flow possible every few days. i think android has a similar issues some logs files build up or some **** like that.

[Q] Huawei U8860 wifi problem

Hi all,
I am now using Huawei Honor U8860. I just upgrade the ICS last month. After upgrade and root the ICS, I have a problem with wifi. When I turn on wifi, and then connecting to network, the phone is restart and Huawei logo are booting too long. If I take out battery , wait a minute and then power on again. It run normal, and then I need to switch off wifi. Can anyone tell me how to fix this bug.
My ICS version is U8860ICSV100R001C00B977. If not, can I downgrade to GB default.
Waiting the reply
Of course you can downgrade your phone but this will whipe all your data on local phone storage
you shall use odin by the way
go to the internet and find your stock rom
read the odin flash guide here in the xda and downgrade
http://www.android-hilfe.de/huawei-...ock-rom-gb-2-3-6-cwm-backup-zum-download.html
could it be that?

[Q] Wifi problem with JB

I just purchased this device using swappa, I actually received the device as of today...I do not have a sim card in it, yes it's rooted...Im currently using a stock JB rom 4.0.4 (have no idea which one)...Here's my problem, it's not connecting to any open SSIDs, I have tried atleast 3 or 4 different ones around my town. Its not connecting, just continues to say saved...I have no tried connecting to any secured SSIDs yet because I dont have wifi at my house. I dont think it's a problem of not having a sim card...Im new to this device and this is the first time Ive ran across this problem. Its not my first android phone, Ive been around for a while...Just trying to get some experienced help from some other users with the same phone. It might also help to tell you that I have shut the phone down and restarted. That did nothing....So has anyone had any kind of problems connecting to any open SSIDs using a stock JB 4.0.4 rom ?

4.0.4 is ICS not jb. You can try flashing the appropriate radio. Since you dont know the history of the device LGNPST is a option, so that you have a fresh start with partitions updated and a working recovery. Here is the link for LGNPST http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230994
And here are the radios http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2270319
If it's on 4.0.4, that's ICS, and if its rooted, it's possible that the JB radio was installed, which could be a problem, because WiFi only works on ICS with the ICS radio, the JB Radio breaks wifi on ICS; also, teh ICS radio breaks wifi on JB.
I'd recommend either flashing a more up-to-date rom, or flash the ICS radio.
Problem was fixed with up to date rom

[Q] Maybe A softbrick

Hello Guys!
First of all I would like to thank every developer on xda for their hard work on developments.
I got atrix 4g about 3 weeks ago it was a korean version of SKTelecom. I wanted to remove the korean keyboard and stock apps so i decieded to unlock its bootloader and flash a custom rom. I used the international users sbf file to unlock its bootloader by using rsd lite. When i started the process rsd gave an error failed and my phone was stuck at a black screen. When i pull out the battery and rebooted it gave an error 1.3.8 something like that so i pulled out the battery and hold volume up button and the power it said starting fastboot so i unlocked the bootloader. Then the phone was booted up and there was no signal no 2g 3g data was working when i checked the imei of phone it said unknown and the phone keeps on rebooting no mateer how many services i stopped. So i decieded to flash a new rom and i installed a recovery i sucessfully installed neutrino rom but same problems appeared no data connection no imei phone keep on rebooting after 4 to 5 minuted. Now phone is at airplane mode while the wifi and bluetooth still works . Plz guys help me fix this problem.
