Not sure about all lossless formats, but I know FLAC is natively supported in ICS - one of the main reasons I want it asap.
You can use pro player,it is support flac file format.

Hi,Does we have any chance to watch and hear a movie with dts audio played by stock player?
Thanks.
Any help

You'd have to ask Samsung about that one, it's their player, not open-source.
I doubt they'd want to put the work into a feature that would be used by very few people though. You'd be better off using a 3rd party player.
The only app I know that plays DTS audio is DicePlayer...but it's not powerful like stock player.
Some of the movies played with lags in DicePlayer

I have watched a video file with DTS audio using MX Video Player and it is more powerful then the stock player.
Hi,about MX Video..
In HW (Hardware) Decoder mode - When the phone connected with HDMI to TV,the subtitle(srt file with the same name as movie) don't show at TV.
SW Decoder - When the phone connected with HDMI to TV its show the subtitle in TV but the player don't fill all the TV screen,it leaves black frame that in it the movie plays.
Does we have any chance to add DTS ability to stock player? because the stock works perfectly with HDMI connection.
Thanks.
Like Mobo player etc... Am trying to play 720p MKV movies but am getting no sound with the stock player.
What has Bravia engine to do with sound in MKV files?

It will work if you run the player on HW decoding!
MKV= not working well on the default player (there are no sound) but seems DICE Player handle it well!

Well I cant use the stock player to play my MKV films because I get no sound, so I need an alternative player that the bravia engine will work on.
Whats the point in having a hd bravia screen and not be able to use it to its full potential?

Any update about mkv players who support B-engine? And witch support HW-video and HW-sound?
Dice player and BSPlayer support Hardware mode for the most videos. As long as you play your videos in hardware mode, they will play with the Bravia Engine.
Some mkv files lags badly on HW/SW and HW can't utput subs o.o
Fringe.S04E15.720p.HDTV.X264-DIMENSION
Fringe.S04E16.720p.HDTV.X264-DIMENSION
laggy and two players said "do not support this format"
Try MX Player, they recently added SSA/ASS support with embedded fonts.
I tried an mkv file with x264 codec (1280x720, profile [email protected], aac sound, embedded ssa file and fonts), working perfectly. HW mode.
How do I get stock music player to play flac file? When I add flac files, it does not show up in the stock music player. I can play flac with sound player but will have to click on each individual file instead of playing the entire folder.
Convert then to mp3s... The stock music player does not support flac format. Sorry man.
perhaps try another player i use google music, buy Idk my music are mp3s
Power amp is great.
It's $5 but since you have flac files I have a feeling you will like the full eq and minor tweaks you can do.
There is also a 15 day trial.

Very interested in this phone for my next upgrade. However, using it as a music player will be important to me and most of my music is encoded in AAC format. The official Sony site doesn't list this as being supported by the Xperia S, whereas GSMArena claims that it is.
Does the Xperia S play AAC music files without a problem?
Even if it's not supported by the stock player, you can always use any ffmpeg powered one.

I thought as much - thanks for the confirmation. I'd still be curious to know if the stock player does it, though.
I have some AAC music in the m4a format in my phone and the stock music player is compatible with them. It plays and shows the tags/album art without problems.

Deadbeef I think. Try the free version before buying.
Thank you I've just tried but it work only in audio reproduction
After so many apps finally I found one that reproduce mp4 with chapter: RockPlayer Lite.
The only disadvantage is that it cannot work in background!

.caf == Core Audio Format, is an Apple defined media container that can hold a variety of audio and/or video encoded content.
Try MX Player, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mxtech.videoplayer.ad&hl=en
or Mobo Video Player Pro, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobo.video.player.pro&hl=en
Thanks MX player did the trick. Its annoying though i have many "good" music players such as poweramp and all could not play the .caf file which is very dissapointing.

I agree. I really don't know why Apple thought we needed yet another container format when there are already so many out there, unless it was to try to play the vendor lock-in game
iPhone doesn't support playing CAF files.
To play CAF on iPhone, I use a software named Faasoft Audio Converter to convert CAF to MP3, AAC, AC3, etc.
