[Q] Best ICS for UK T-mobile Razr (GSM) - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hello, hope this is the right place to ask this, sorry if not! I see there are a lot of different ROMs in the development forum for GSM Razrs, and was wondering if anyone could advise me on which is working best for a UK Razr at the moment? I'd like to install CM9 if possible (I see there are a couple of patched CDMA ones), but which mods in general have the 'fewest' problems? Any advice would be brilliant, thanks

Gummy worked best for me. All of the patched cdma are very similar. But I went back to stock. Ics is close. I would wait if i were you.

sorry but... miui is an rom based from CM isn't it ?
So , if you want to have miui you have to wait for cm9 release date .
am i wrong?
We already have a CM9 kang. Only things not working are UX acceleration and front facing camera.
And least but not less important, data is not working for the majority of CM9 users.I think its very important for a smartphone =p
I MISS miui also!

It's actually working great... Since day 1 we've had working data for CDMA users if you toggled to GSM Only & back to LTE on startup. As of last version we don't even have to do that anymore so... yeah.

Atrix 2 and ICS...no Atrix 4G news?

The Atrix 2 forums are going crazy with reports of ICS releases going up on cheesecake. Has anyone heard of anything for the OG Atrix?

Last rumors I heard were from a dude here that posted about this in this section probably close to a week ago about this may happen. The thread got closed
NM, was just a couple days ago here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26665314
Ics demo in 2days locked bl needed
I'm not stock or i would try browsing for a possible update, hope someone tries and reports back soon!

I saw that one, but nobody considered it credible. I'm wondering if anyone has been checking cheesecake instead of playing with the latest Kitchen Sink / Paranoid / CM9 and other ICS builds (I'm trying Paranoid right now).
The other thread got closed due to a few numnutz not behaving.
Long story short, the last we heard was Q3 for ICS on the Atrix...

Yea iva for the og ATRIX 4g is q3 so we should have it in a few months if everything goes right

Makes sense that you'd see an Atrix 2 leak by now. It uses the same OMAP 4430 chipset as the droid RAZR, so it was probably just a matter of porting.

I check cheesecake pretty often. But there's nothing up yet. And the server that usually yields goodies is offline at the moment. If/when there is, expect me to make a topic.

I've searched but can't find a good howto for cheesecake on the Atrix 4G. Does anyone have a guide for those unfamiliar to the process?
Nevermind, I found it. Don't know why I couldn't find it before....
Project Cheesecake
It would be great to check available updates on the test servers, but it seems that we need to reverse-engineer the protocol
I don't think we will get a leak at least within a month. Atrix 2 and RAZR share the same platform, so Atrix 2 will get official ICS earlier. Also, I think ICS release date for Atrix highly depends on NVIDIA. There is no Tegra2-based phone (Atrix, Captivate Glide, Optimus 2X, Galaxy R) that already has leaked ICS build, and only two of them (Atrix, Optimus 2X) have possible release dates (both in Q3)
Last I read, and I can't for the life of me find the article now, but it said Atrix 4G would be late Q3, so still a wee while yet. Im thinking September, but really its all speculation at the end of the day.

guys, a question:
in my nation (italy) ICS is in evaluation... And maybe it will not see light...
But, if ICS will be in USA... i can use that version in italy?

AFAIK, no. Kernel will be different, as the Atrix ATT is not like the Atrix INT.
So if there's exists a chance that it will work on int, only kernel devolopers might know.

If somebody posts a Cwm version of the update containing a ramfix, then international users can install it.

i didn't find it credible either but i think it worth a try...
anyway it would be nice if someone with an ATT atrix would try that cheesecake thing (it is a bit more complicated for att atrix read in commencts) because only that will get ICS...
and as i heard from my sources the razr, atrix 2, atrix 4g got test builds on the same day, of course that's not a reliable information, but cheesecake worth a try

ICS confusion...

OK hi everyone...
Honestly there is just madness going on out there.
Tons of leaks, no official word, modded custom ROMs for only either CDMA or GSM devices...phew...
So my question is simply this I'm on a RAZR AXIOM CMPLX ROM...its stock ICS and its beautiful.. however some things aren't working...not trying to be mean but I have already asked people at DroidHive and I just go ignored for some very strange reason...anyways...
So I wanted to know now where do I currently stand and where can I head...I'm obviously not on any leak...so do I (can i ) go back to GB?? Can I flash any leaked ROM??
I have attached a screen shot for your ref. I would prefer a stock ICS ROM minus MotoBla...but with everything working...
Help?!

I was on that ROM. Yes you can go back to GB and you can pretty much go anywhere from there.

Yes, the JB and ICS kernel are the same, we have to wait for the developers to get us a working build of JB.
thank you for replying with this information. and thanks to all the developers for building the roms.
I looking at my magic 8 ball and it says a JB ROM is most likely in the distant future.
I have never built a room, but i would think this would take a lot less time then ice cream sandwich, especially if its the same kernels and radios. Now undoubtedly if we get official jellybean it'd use newer kernels then we have now. And since we can use the same radios and kernels, i would think the locked bootloader wouldn't be an issue. Bit I'm a newb and could be wrong.

You're right in one aspect I think, it won't take as long as ICS did, but still, the source is under 24 hours old, I would give them at least a few days, if not a week or two to get a good ROM built...

I didn't expect it to be right away, i do know these things take time. This was merely a plausibility question then a why isn't it done question.

Ah ok. Well, yes. I don't think it'll take as long as it did with ICS, but then again, you never know.. There could be some major hiccup along the way and delay it, or it could be done by tomorrow.. I'm hoping for the second one in that But we'll see
Personally, I think that we won't see Jelly Bean from Motorola, if we get it, will be thanks to the dev community...
i read somewhere on a XDA port for galaxy nexus i think. That JB is almost the same as ICS but it need a modification in ramdisk to work, unless what it wont boot.
So without an unlocked bootloader and/or KEXEC we're done
I am trying to get my head around porting ROMs...but my severe lack of knowledge has been a roadblock so far. If someone can and want to join hands in this venture, they are more than welcome...PM me with the details and we will take it forward...
Always remember, great things have small beginnings.
Cheers!

New to the GTab

Hello everyone
Not new to rooting and romming. Plan on doing a bunch of reading and will make every attempt to refrain from asking repetitive questions. But was hoping i could get a few points in the right direction. I am currently running 3.2.
Is the jump to ICS worth it? My phone device is bionic and ICS basically turned a crappy bionic into a superphone...im hoping for a similar advancement from honeycomb to ICS.
Is there a particular " rom list" short list a few of you fine folks could recommend?
Any pitfalls to watch out for or a good thread I should read. Im going to check out all the stickies before I get going.
Thanks for the help.
I would look into jelly bean for your tab. I installed it and it was like a new device.

Cool, thanks. Is JB buggy? I know it is on the Bionic but that's with a locked bootloader and there is only one (I think) example of 4.1 in that space.
