I am pretty new to android. I'm coming from a Blackberry Storm, so this Thunderbolt is insane.
I am a mac user and pretty much use outlook 2011 for my entire existence. It's got my work email and gmail attached. All my contacts are there and I use it for my calendar.
I don't want to start using other programs.
What is the best way to optimize and sync this to my phone? I found a program called sync mate that seems like it could do the trick to tie everything together, including music and photos. Is this a good application?
In regards to emailing, there are two apps on my phone for email, mail and gmail. Can I just use the mail app for both and stop using the gmail one? Should I use gmail app for it and the mail app for my other, work email?
To better sum up, I'm using these apps on my mac computer:
Outlook 2011 - Both email accounts, contacts, calendar
iTunes - Music and videos
iPhoto - Photos
There seems to be a million options on the phone side of things and I'm just trying to find the simplest and optimized way to sync all of this. SyncMate seems the best way, but I'm not sure and also what the best apps to use on the phone for each of these.
Thanks.
Itunes- make a folder in the phones SD card called music or whatever and drag your songs into it the phone will do the rest. ITunes will not sync an android phone
IPHOTO- same as iTunes
Emails- have you ever considered fowrarding your work email to your gmail or setting up your work email in your gmail? Gmail will be able to hold all of your calendar data extra... And Gmail will let you send emails as your work email from your gmail. In my opinion gmail is the best so any way to get everything in one place is the best. Also the google phones aka android work the best with the google email...

What advantage is there to deleting the stuff as opposed to simply freezing it?

There's No Advantage Really Besides It Sits On The System Taking Up Space In The Background.
I'm running unnamed, wish I had enough posts to post in that thread directly.
The recent update removed social hub, and that seemed to remove my facebook account from my calendar. I can't add a new facebook account when I go into calendar sync. I only see options for adding Google, Yahoo, and Exchange accounts.
When I go into the general Accounts & Sync options in Settings, I see my facebook account, with an option to sync contacts (no calendar).
Tried uninstalling/reinstalling facebook, clearing calendar data, clearing calendar sync data. Any other ideas?
Install the social app back on your phone.

I'd rather not... it was taken out for a reason by gtg, and actually I was never sure what that app did. I definitely didn't use it, except for the fact that I had to in order to sync my calendar. So if I could skip the middleman I'd prefer to.
Is the social hub app necessary to sync facebook with the stock calendar app?
Isn't it specifically for social hub? Probably won't work without adding it back?
Install it back from titanium. I do it for email premium account

I was hoping they weren't so tightly integrated on the gsii
Didn't have social hub on my captivate and could sync my calendars with no issue.
I don't understand what the issue is? When does Facebook sync with the Calendar app? (I didn't know it did this?)
The calendar app can put your facebook events on the calendar, as long as the facebook account is added in the calendar's settings. So I could have my google calendar events and facebook events all in the calendar.
It seems the sgsii's calendar relied on the social hub app to do this, since I can't seem to add facebook after social hub was removed.

Just flash the Social Hub addon if you want it.
Flash the social hub, and then freeze everything not related to FB.
If SNS is causing major battery drain I can't find it. I have great deep sleep times, and I've never seen a wakelock related to it.
Here is what I have frozen and not frozen, and FB intergration into calendar and contacts is working for me.
SNS 1.5 - Unfrozen
SNS disclaimer - Frozen
SNS AccountFB - Unfrozen
SNS AccountLi - Frozen
SNS AccountTw - Frozen
SNS ImageCache - Unfrozen (This allows your phone to update your contact photos from Fb)
Social Hub 2.00.00001 - Frozen
Social Hub 7.52.10101 - Frozen

Thanks for the help, everyone.
I know I can just add social hub back, I was just wondering if there was another way since I have no other use for the app itself.
Anyway, awesome rom GTG
Does anybody have the social addon saved anywhere? I didn't download it while I had the chance, now I'd like to flash it. Unfortunately, restoring from Titanium doesn't work.

Does anyone know of any app that logs automatically entire sms' content to google calendar in ICS?
SMS2CAL does not support ICS and the coder is not interested in supporting it or adapting it for it to work wit ICS.
CallTrack does a perfect job logging calls, however it fails to log sms.
Any ideas please??
SMS to Calendar
Hello,
there used to be a superb app, Log2Calendar. Sadly, this is now retired from the market.
Here is the APK that I backed up long ago; I install it on all my androids manually (it actually then prompts a market upgrade on some).
I actually use both CallTrack and Log2Calendar: CallTrack logs to a specific Call-Log calendar created on gmail, Log2Calendar logs sms only to a specific sms-log calendar
There is a Call 2 Calendar but it only shows one calendar in the list, so I did not try it.
Also evaluate SMS backup+
It transforms sms into emails (and if contact has an email address you can reply to that email and will send to that email) and uploads them to gmail in a specific SMS label. It also deals call logs if you use the google procedure to authorize emails.
IMAP upload / emails are much more efficient while researching. Plus you get conversation view, unavailable in the calendar
Cheers!

great tracker, don't know about service holder access to data but I guess it is respectful?
My friend is a pain in the ass and refuses to sign up for a Facebook account (fully locked down with no personal info and unsearchable) so we can all be on the same messaging platform. The rest of my friends prefer Facebook Messenger as we all have accounts already but we have been using GroupMe and recently Google Hangouts but now I am fed up. I read an article saying that Facebook started rolling out the ability to use Messenger without a Facebook account. Does anyone know if this feature is available in the US yet? I thought it was with the new app version however my friend just downloaded the Facebook Messenger app from Google Play but it seems to want him to sign up for a Facebook account. If this isn't avail on the US app, does anyone have a way I can get him on a version of the app that allows this ability?
No one has any info about this??
