Update on Ice Cream Sandwich rollout for Xperia™ smartphones
Link here.
Hello everyone. We’d like to bring you up to speed with recent developments in our Android 4.0 software rollout.
First up, the rollout plans for the Xperia NXT series (Xperia S, Xperia P and Xperia U) are progressing as planned. The first smartphone to be upgraded will be Xperia S, starting from the end of June. Then Xperia P will follow, whilst Xperia U will receive it a little later in Q3. As always we will keep you in the loop with the latest info as soon as we can.
For our 2011 range, as you know, we began our Ice Cream Sandwich software upgrade with Xperia arc S, Xperia ray and Xperia neo V last month.
Now, we are happy to confirm that the remaining 2011 smartphones; Xperia arc, Xperia neo, Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia active and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman will start to receive their updates starting from next week.
This software upgrade will be Android version 4.0.4 and the good news is that this latest version will also be made available for Xperia arc S, Xperia ray and Xperia neo V users, who received Android 4.0.3 the first time around.
In regards to Xperia PLAY, after extensive in house testing with our developer teams and working with our partners, we have concluded that a consistent and stable experience, particularly with gaming, cannot be guaranteed for this smartphone on Ice Cream Sandwich – therefore, we will not make the Android 4.0 upgrade available for Xperia PLAY.
This decision was also verified when we received similar feedback from the developer community; both experienced developers and advanced users, along with game content providers following our ICS beta ROM for unlocked Xperia PLAY smartphones.
Our priority has and always will be, to provide the best possible user experience on Xperia smartphones. In this instance the ICS upgrade would have compromised stability, where we look to ensure a quality gaming experience with games optimized and developed for Xperia PLAY.

Any news about ICS for NEO (MT15i)?

It's desperating.
till end of july if i remember correctly
but i dont think ill switch over cuz neo doesnt have the best HW for it
I was wondering that too... PTCRB still reveals the last build as 4.0.2.A.0.69, which means we probably won't see anything for the next few weeks. At the same time, even the ICS ROM for the original Arc has been approved, leaving the Neo and Pro as the two only mid to top-end phones of the 2011 lineup without an ICS build.
Judging by the leaked 4.0.4 Rom of the Xperia Pro, I would say Sony is probably skipping version 4.0.3 due to poor customer feedback. If that is the case, we should see a new build around the time version 4.0.4 gets approved for any of the other models...
Why dont you just install the neo v version....works fine on my mt15i
Just follow the instructions properly..

Wrong,i'm using AOSP rom on my Neo,i have about 200 mb free ram, true Android 4 experience and no lag at all. So,the hardware is more than enough for ICS,but the Sony rom sucks. Look here http://www.phonearena.com/phones/HTC-Desire-C_id7037 if 600 mhz and 512 mb of ram can run Android 4.0,how can you say that the hardware from Neo is weak?
just flash a stock based custom rom and see the difference, mate. I'm using KA19 on my Neo, its Android 4.0.4 and its just amazing i dont think i'll go back to stock ever.
I am running KA18 (ICS 4.0.3), will try to upgrade to KA19 later today, and it works fine in my mt15a.
I'd been wondering myself when it was coming. Totally agree about Sony ROMs being resource hogs (even more than other OEM ROMs).
I mean, what's their excuse? Designing the best possible experience? Not likely when they have to excuse the ROM in advance by saying some people better not upgrade. If they did it right the hardware wouldn't be a problem.
I give up on Sony in any case. I'm gonna just get an S3. Samsung are much faster with updates.
Hi! I have a wonderful Xperia Neo Mt15i
I'm using JJ's HYBRID ROM v2.4b with android 4.0.3 and it's wonderful!
I don't want to come back with the stock version.
Starting to get on next week

Nice!
And just as I had guessed, it will be version 4.0.4. I really hope they've managed to fix the common complaints with 4.0.3...
Nice news Can't wait to test this new version. I hope battery longers more than in Neo V's ICS.

Yeah thats your opinion, we shall see
My opinion is that this is pointless.. I mean Sony is listening to their customers but I don't think they will update their old devices considering how many devices they released this year. They will only update their dual core phones and maybe not all of them. They might as well update some of the new single core ones (like the Xperia J). Our phones are very capable of the Jelly Bean update but everything is just a marketing trick! They want us to buy their new phones.. and I'm not talking only about Sony. All manufacturers do that.

Xperia J is a weaker phone then Xperia Neo V, check the specs and its a single core, so why we dont get JB instead of the Xperia J,
Somy must listen to thier user btw and not only to they customers

Will we receive another update?

So Sony has decided not to give us Jelly Bean but they said they will continue to give us maintenance update for ICS. And it has been a while since the last .587, do you think they will release another update for our phone? For me even if they don't give us JB I will be happy if they continue to release bugfix and stability improvement update to perfect ICS. Let's hope our phone's life cycle won't end so soon.
highly doubt that they will spend any more time updating the 2011 line up
Actually u can see this and give up your hopes

How can you prefer something that you didn't even tried?! (Here i'm not talking about CM10,but about Sony customized JB). And no,ICS don't sucks, but you need to uninstall some crap apps which are eating ram and processor power, and then you'll get a very smooth ICS.

i have an Xperia P and get an update to JB next year
check:
http://www.xperiablog.net/2012/10/1...-xperia-devices-rolling-out-from-mid-q1-2013/
look:
Sony Mobile has this morning confirmed that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for its new Xperia devices (Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V) will start to receive the update from the middle of Q1 2013. Sony Xperia devices that launched earlier this year including the Xperia S, Xperia acro S, Xperia ion, Xperia P, Xperia go and Xperia J will be upgraded to Android 4.1 in “due course”. Looks like Xperia miro, Xperia tipo, Xperia tipo dual, Xperia sola and Xperia U users are excluded.

Man,Samsung,Sony,Motorola,Microsoft,Apple or any other company you want don't care about customer satisfaction...They care only about making money, and how can they make money,if they don't make you to buy their newest devices? This is not about customer satisfaction,it is about marketing strategy, where, unfortunately Sony has very weak employees.

Does xperia sola will receive the JB update?

In the official sony news JB update the xperia sola is not mentioned is that mean that the phone will not receive update? in the techclave it says that the update will be on this coming december but on the other sites they said that it maybe false.
There are rumors that it will have it, but lets hope and see.
It will ( positivity speaking out of me)
But surely not in December
Sony week ago confirmed that all xperia 2012 models will get 4. 1 in December. The update was ready in November but xperia sola floating touch needs more testing. That news you speak about was misinterpreted. It does not mean that xperia sold won't get jb. It meant that jb for sola was not ready yet. Sony published clarification, if you're eager, you will find it.

Sony reveals Xperia Jelly Bean update now in very final stage

Sony had promised earlier that they will be releasing the Jelly Bean update for all the Xperia devices that were released in 2012. Now, in a tweet from the official account, Sony has confirmed that the update is in very final stages and that more information will be provided next week.
Just a quick update to say we hear you re: JB 4.1 for Xperia P & Go, (S, SL, acro S and ion). Work's in v. final stage - more news next week
— Sony Xperia News (@SonyMobileNews) April 19, 2013
The list of devices that will be getting the Android 4.1.2 update include the Xperia P, Go, S, SL, acro S and the Ion. No details on when exactly these phones will be getting the update but we are hoping this will be addressed next week.
