[Q] Can't see Ram or Storage values - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For some reason, I can't see my available/total RAM in the task manager or total/used memory in the system storage. It just shows up as ../.. for all values, however, I can see the colour coded bar. I noticed this after I installed ICS Domination 4.4 but I don't see any reason why installing a theme would cause this to happen. Any thoughts as to why this would happen and solutions are appreciated since I really don't want to factory reset. Thanks

Maybe the problem is due to some theme..
Or u installed new theme over an existing theme without wiping...

Well I did wipe both caches... but it could be due to some unforeseen error I guess. What do you think I should do now?

Manila themes

Hi,
Has anybody already tried to install a new theme or new graphics for one of the manila roms? What themes did you use and how did you make the installation of a new theme. I tried to copy graphic files, but then manila won't start again.
try m2dc to change themes...
btw i'll soon be relasing new look manilla roms for prophet soon
thanks maxwell,
I tried m2dc, but sometimes with very funny results. I tried to change a theme and after that my storage went town with 10 mb and I don't know why, since it was only the original themebackup that I re-installed by accident.

and then see this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425974
have a nice day
hi maxwell,
thank you for the response, but that was exactly what I have done. Install with the new version of m2dc. I can't believe that the difference between the default graphics and another skin can be 10 mb.
that's because it backs up the data for possible loss so that your 10mb space is wasted. instead , you may try modding your roms and make it lighter as you wont need to backup anything.

Thanks bro
This is awesome! I used a font pack to make my font Exocet (Diablo 2's font). Here it is for anyone else that wants this. Only problem is there isn't a degree symbol. So on temperatures there is only a big period. If anyone can fix this let me know. I'm also going to look into it. In the meantime, it still looks amazing!
EDIT: I fixed the degree symbol so now it's not a period. This font looks great! And is it weird that I've gotten better battery life with this font?
PS: I am now the envy of all of the nerds at my workplace!

If your on a gingerbread rom they will not work because of clockwork 3xx we have to wait till that's figured out.
Used this to rid the Royal Thunder Rom of the fancy yet hard to read font, solution is simple downgrade cwmod version to a 2x reboot into clockwork, flash font, reboot then simply revert to 3x recovery.. all better Hope this is useful.

Some of you might already know this, but I always recommend trying Root Tools in the market. It comes with easy to install Fonts
Has anyone found a way to change fonts on CM7? There are edify packages in the big fontpack thread, but they don't work, nothing changes. I tried dropping the ttf's in the system font folder then clearing cache partition and dalvik cache, just bootloops. It's the last visual element I'm trying to change to combine the awesomeness of froyo and gingerbread.

I found a work around. flash a 2 x recovery thru rom manager, flash the font pack, reboot, flash the current recovery back

It worked for me. I'm running a Vibrant CM7, and I flash fonts like it's spring break. I flashed a 2.5.1.2 recovery. What error did it give you? If it gives you the edify scripting, you need to double check the script in the font pack. If update-binary and updater-script are not in there, then it wont work.

[Q] Theme compactable with Khalpower V4 GalaxyXT ROM

Since I saw some AMAZING themes but I was unable to install'em, I wanna ask if somebony is able to link some themes which are compactable with Khalpower's V4 GalaxtXT ROM, couse I tryed like 20-25 themes and from all only DarkFroyo V2 and 1 more works.
Thanks alot!
The Honeycomb-theme works fine on V4 (except that you need to replace the keyboard with some keyboard from the Market, but that's the only bug there is).

Kahl has this one posted somewhere in one of his threads. It replaces the stock LatinIME.apk & works fine. Just copy the zip to openrecovery/updates boot into Open Recovery, appy the update, wipe the dalvik-cache & cache partitions & reboot.

When i try to apply the galaxyxtv4 theme update, it does not work! i still have the red theme and i dont know what to do anymore. Isnt that how one apply a theme? am i missing something?
I believe others had issues with that update too. If you're running the PersonaRedv4 I think you can just restore the system partition from KP full GalaxyXTv4 (nandroid restore) & wipe the dalvik-cache & cache partition & reboot.
I was wondering... if I install propper theme which works woth this rom but replace apps from other theme (and apps are more - 6 in compactable theme and about 20 in that one that I will replace with), so will it work as it works with bootanimation, couse if I keep the working theme but put difetent bootanimation it still works.
I'd give a guarded yes. If the filenames of the apps you want to replace match EXACTLY (e.g. maps.apk is not the same as Maps.apk) then they will be overwritten. If they don't match your best bet is probably to remove the apps you want to replace before installing the new ones. You will be limited as to the size of the system partition so adding files as system apps could be problematic but replacing one modded app with another should generally be OK. Another thing to note is (I think) not all apps can be installed as system apps. Note that it is always a good idea to do a nandroid backup before you try making the changes so (when) things go wrong (and they will ) you can get back to a functioning device as painlessly as possible.
Hi guys.
I'm looking for a working Gingerbread Theme for the V4XT rom.
Could you please help me?
Thanx in advance.
I was wondering if this one coud work? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9784619&postcount=13
I was previously used it on my original 2.1 Rom and it was absolutely perfect.
I have today tried to install many themes with the new khalpower v4.
Result was the follwing: I was able to get a decent outcome. Keyboard bug could be fixed but after a couple of theme flashes things started to get weired. First my gmail app stopped working.
After that I only got jibberish as fonts so that I was unable to change languages or anything else for that matter.
I'd very much appreciate ports for the new v4. Right now I'm using the fix described above. Thanks so much! Worked like a charm

[Q] Mik's CM7 6.5.5 Theme problem

I've downloaded and applied a few themes from this thread (applied via cm7 Theme Chooser), but for some reason the themes only change the phone's appearance partially. In the screenshots for example, you've got a new lockscreen, the market is different and the main dock is a different colour. But when I apply these themes, none of those change, nor do I know how to change them. No option to do so in the settings of ADW nor CM7 menu...
Am I doing something wrong?

you should look thru the post the lock screen changes are usually zip files and wont work cause they are mdpi and i think we are hdpi you can reaserch it im pretty sure but i could be wrong thats also why the rest of the themes dont work if you want to ask you should ask the thread you pulled the themes from
Try to make a reboot after aplying a theme. Mine are all working great.

No, I think our device is mdpi, because hdpi themes don't work. I also tried to reboot but it didn't help... I dunno...
Eh...
- first of all, reboot is required after changing themes, unless you use Notification Restart app
- second, this device is MDPI obviously, Google it
- additional mods, such as the lockscreen, do require patching of framework via MetaMorph or ZipThemer. This can only be done on deodexed ROMs. mik's ROM is not deodexed by default, you need to deodex and reflash it yourself.

1. I use notification restart app.
2. Isn't that what I just said?
2. I didn't know that, but I have already used MetaMorph to change the lockscreen.

Well, that obviously will not work correctly, as explained. Best case it will bail out, worst case it will mess up the files.
P.S. I sincerely do NOT advise to use the MetaMorph app, since it does not backup anything, and the way it patches and "reboots" the device is just a nice WTF. ZipThemer is way safer and way more controllable.

Well as I understand it only messes with the lockscreen files, so even if someone manages to mess everything up with it, it's easy to fix.
But thanks, I'll try ZipThemer instead

It can mess up anything from framework-res.apk to SystemUI.apk to Phone.apk to overwriting your system fonts (big thumbs down to Android font "management") and even more - all depending on the scope of customization done in the mod.
ZipThemer:
1/ Shows you exactly which files will be modified.
2/ Makes a flashable backup of them.
3/ Makes a flashable ZIP for the mod.
4/ Does not half-reboot your device, making you wonder WTH is going on.

[Q] Moto E Low Memory Problem

Hi ! I'm new here. This is as per the suggestion given by KJ (Recognized Contributor), that i am posting here..
Ok, straight to the point. I tried to change the VM from Dalvik to ART. But it didn't work out well and after getting booted, showed some messages of force-closing some important processes. Then I switched back to Dalvik with much difficulty. But after my phone got rebooted, optimized and all, it showed a notification message of "low memory space". Could anyone please instruct me how to regain the original 'memory space' that was before the conversion from Dalvik to ART. Should I manually locate the folder and delete the temp files? Hope someone gives my any ideas...
Just do this....
Install any other rom if you are rooted !! preferably CM11 or Carbon or PA. It worked in my case !!

Thank you for the suggestion. I'll try that if nothing else works. I haven't got bored by the current ROM. So still want to try any other means. Thank you very much though...

Wow ! It's good to hear that. But i heard Android L uses ART as its VM by default. My problem occurred when i tried changing from dalvik to ART. So, I'm not sure if it will cause any problem then.. Maybe i'll have to make lots of free space then or reset my moto to factory settings.. Let's wait and see... :good:

no no the art engine included in kitkat is just a beta to say..its not the final.the final art is included and is by default in L update so need not worry to free space to run in ART mode
When L update will come for moto E, is there any factory reset is required before proceeding update, as diff users has diff amt of internal left?
