Firstly, I am not sure if this is the correct place for this, if it isn't I apologise.
Basically, I am trying to make an android app to replace the need for my remote for my AC Ryan MiniHD which is a media box. It is connected to the internet by a dongle. I have searched but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know how to send commands over a connection to the box, for example play/pause/stop etc.
Like a code snippet/example.
Thanks

Hi,
I am new to the forum and just upgraded to PPC2003PE with no problem. Set up my internet and all works fine. (at least I think. )
Anyway since T-Mobile here in the US has UNLIMITED Internet for $19.99 for the PPCPE, it would be good to use that connection with my laptop to get to the internet. Activesync does great using to PC's internet connection for the PPC, but there it does not work the other way around.
There should be a way to use the PPC as a proxy to the laptop if I am cradled, but I can't find anything that works in that way. Perhaps I should write one. But I don't want to reinvent the wheel. I have seen the wireless modem instructions, but since I don't have IR on my notebook, nor do I wish to go through the hassle of buying a serial either, just to find out I can't use my T-Mobile internet account. (I assume it might not work).
So my only other alternative is to find a USB solution. I would like to not have to disable my voice calls from coming through. The only way I can see to do this is the trusted relationship with activesync. Can anyone assist me in the information need to either set it up or write the program? My time is limited and I would welcome any help I can get.
Thanks,
Wade
Quick answer - It won't work - I've tried.
You can get very cheap infrared ports (with a USB / serial plug) which you can use on the laptop, and then setup the XDA as an infra red modem. Thats the only way you can do it - Sorry!!!

hi guys,
I'm trying to use an Android phone/tablet as an interface to a desktop. I want to try and use the phone as a captive NFC reader for the desktop. If anyone must know, I'm using pyusb as the host software.
Can I passthrough any NFC scan events from the phone to the desktop over adb or something (over USB) ? I suppose then I cant really read a USB port - rather it will be more similar to reading from a network port (adb forward).
I'm absolutely at a loss trying to figure out how to do this. Could someone help ?
EDIT - on thinking some more, maybe the way to do it is write nfc tag data to a datagram-socket and use adb forward to read it from a desktop. anyone know of any nfc app that forwards read data on a port ?
Hello guys,
BBC iPlayer and TuneIn Radio will not play on my Android TV using Ethernet.
They both behave as though I had no internet connection and say I must connect to WiFi or phone data.
I saw a fix which does not work, to add FALSE to qaWifiOnlyMode.txt file, and put that in the root of the device, but this does not work.
I imagine that someone who knows a lot about hacking would find this easy to do, but I've looked for an answer for two days, and not found one.
Any boffins out there know how to sort this one?

So I need to find a way to send terminal commands to an Android device wirelessly (NOT ON THE SAME NETWORK).
I say not on the same network because I CAN NOT use adb wirelessly.
Please note: this is not for hacking purpose. I will do this with user's permission and the password they set.
Couple years ago, there was an application that did something similar.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2354884
It is very outdated and didn't work on 3 phones that I tried.
Also, the remote device will always have data connection and an ip.
Is there anything similar out there?
If not, I am open to creating my own with some guidelines/help from amazing xda-memebers!!
Thank you.
I am using flow and connecting it with my HP envy laptop. It connects alright and can share text messages only but is not willing to share any type of files either from phone to pc or from pc to phone. I have tried to unpair and re pair them, i have changed the destination folder, i have checked the boxes to allow transfer of files across firewall but still no good. Its not even showing the smart view mirroring on my pc. Can anyone help me with this, would really appreciate it. Thanks.
