I dont know if any of you have seen samsungs latest apple ripoff?,lol. But they have an app that leaked from the s-III, its called "s-voice". And yep, you guessed it....its just like siri.
Anyways, there is a fix for it but it involves editing your build.prop to make the app thing your phone is a compatible phone, heres the link to the thread;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1664785
Would doing this mess up my rezound??
Thanks for the help
Back up your build.prop. it probably won't cause a problem though.
I've done it a number of times to trick the market into letting me download apps that weren't supposedly compatible with my rezound. Just backed up my original to replace the edited one. Never had an issue.

It won't mess up your rezound. Parts of the build.prop can say whatever u want it too. It won't, however, make s voice work either

The rezound is too far from stock ics or touchwiz to trick the app into working. I tried doing this edit but it didn't work at all. Maybe ones we get aokp we can get this (as well as a whole load of other things the sense framework prevents) to work
s voice with rezound
Editing build.prop with these changes worked for me but you need to be on an ICS rom. s-voice does work but it's kinda slow; vlingo works better for me.
Well then....
It always fcs on me
Use Vlingo Labs, it's basically S Voice identically.

So ive just installed hydrogenics, but was wondering if its possible to get the official samsung camera app?
all ive found so far is
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1104051
but could see if it would work on ICS or this rom.
I can't see why not, it is just another Camera.apk file. To be safe, I would go to /system/app and find your original Camera.apk file, and save it on to your computer. I just send them types of files via Bluetooth. It means that if it doesn't work, just transfer your old one back and overwrite it again.
I just tried taking the camera.APK from a backup I had.
I got a signature error, any ideas?

Was the Camera.apk file you took from another backup an ICS one? If so, which ROM was it?

Actually, I think samsung camera relies on samsung framework... And I don't think that ROM is samsung based. But you're welcome to try.

This is always good advice. But be aware; if you're running an odexed ROM, be sure to back up phone.odex as well.
EDIT: whoops. Totally meant camera.odex. Not phone.

I think you may be right there too, I was doing some reading and I saw it said it relies on the actual framework from Samsung, not just the ROM. I also forgot to add that you should back up your camera.odex too! My bad! Thanks.

Had phone on my mind... Don't know why. I really did mean camera. You know, since we were talking about the camera app.
So is there a solution?? I really like this rom but hate stock ics camera with that fat ugly bar at the bottom the samsung one is far nicer looking and more intuitive
As stated, the Samsung stock camera relies on TouchWiz framework. So if you are on a NON-TouchWiz based ROM, then no, you won't be able to use the Samsung camera.
Try one of the camera apps from the play store.
If you want the Samsung camera that bad, you will need to be on a TouchWiz based ROM, or a stock firmware.
ok fair enough i guess i just want to have my cake and eat it!! Think the benefits of AOKP or CM9 outweigh the camera issue
I know I have seen a fair number of posts about people who(also) wanted a MIUI port for the amaze, but since I think that is not going to happen anytime soon at least-- I was excited to see the file explorer that is included in MIUI that works on any phone. I can also testify that it seems to work rather well on the amaze..(though I haven't figured out how people have said they mount it as root and a few other things)
For those who don't know, it searches the phone for all the apks, videos, pictures, zips, etc.. and with a click you can see them all in one place. As horrible as I am at organizing, I end up with tons of zips and apks in weird places I'd never find again, the search function on all the file explorers I've used takes far too long, so this is my answer.
I know if you search the market(still can't get used to calling it the play store) you can find tons of apps that give aspects of miui(homescreen replacement, etc).
Now if there was an app that gives you functionality over the notification bar like miui has, or a miui lockscreen that worked with the custom lock screens people post, or.. well if anyone else knows of apps pulled out of miui like the one posted above that isn't in the market, let me know!
Again, here is the link to the thread.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523691
Anyways, just sharing for those that might like it
Thanks for the 411, dl'd will report back on quality and stability tomorrow.
I dl the newest build.
Man miui is really just a great piece of work ran it on my g2x. I had to remove it though WiFi sucked, and battery drain was horrible, also many reboots, more than usual with the g2x.
Thanks though gonna try it.

I was wondering if anyone out there is working on a port of Google Now for the Rezound ICS.. Would love to be able to run this on my pgone, just have no clue how to port anything.
On a side note is anyone working on a JB rom yet either?
last I checked it's not compatible for us. I believe it's strictly for 4.1 cause of the API level unless someone cam.correct me. since you didn't read and search much you could have answered your JB question easily. we don't even have a full stable aosp ics rom yet alone kernel source so JB is a longshot for now
i think it possible indeed
if you will look at this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvqSR13gpGk this is a review of android 4.1 jelly bean running on galaxy s3. when he tried to open google now, it's showed a message: "google search stopped working". what's mean, that google now is google search application on the android 4.1. what it only need to be, it's get the google search apk from jelly bean rom of galaxy nexus, get the apk code (this is how to get the code of the apk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocVGRtjuD-g), and with the code make an application for the ics and try to install. according to this logic, this very simple to port google now for ice cream sandwich, even gingerbread. i wish this is how it conducted. if yes, it's mean google now for everyone
---------- Post added at 03:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:59 PM ----------
and after it will succes, developers will can add google now some sources of the siri like applications that develop until now like iris, skyvi, mira, s voice and more, to make google now to answer for questions in cards that if we asked her now, google now will take us automaticly to search results. and then, google now will be the ultimate voice assistant. she still can't answer like that like siri. but after that, google now will destroy siri once and for all!

Tried searching, all I have right now is my phone (no computer currently), which makes filtering/narrowing down a search more difficult. Not necessarily saying aosp, just a developer implementing parts of jb into a current rom for the rezound. Mainly notification inhancements, keyboard, and of course Google Now (if any are possible at this time)......

Did you have to do anything special? I am on rls 3.1.2, but I do not see that file that I am supposed to rename in the system/app directory? No idea why, ut it is not in that directory or anywhere on my phone. (GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk)
Edit: Nevermind. Gave it a shot, and it seems to be working fine.

I'm not sure if you were still trying to get this to work, but I since no one put this answer in this thread, I will.
This voice workaround works pretty nicely. Basically, you replace the search widget with the google now widget, then use ICS's speech to text and push it into the search box for google now.

Have fun!
FYI guys its updated by a user named lenny_kano.. They haven't updated the OP with a new apk, but if you look at the last 10-15 pages you can find the hack and slash method.. Essentially- it works perfectly. Native voice and all (she even reads back the results to you).. pretty freakin awesome.

it's likely that it won't, because when google wallet gets updated, it's pretty much useless. system will recognize the model of your phone and carrier and you'll be blocked immediately. If this incident happens, people will blame the developer that it doesn't function properly.

We ran into this on the GS3 on AT&T. We had a flashed installed, but then if you pulled the update down from Play it would hose Wallet. It was a simple - don't update Wallet and you had no problems.

You could stick it in there but it would be worthless. You have to edit the build prop while adding your cards then revert back to the original. Wouldnt make much sense to include when you have yo go through this anyways. Just flash the zip its the only extra step.

Have you flashed Google wallet with different rom builds or totally different roms before?? It's not as easy as just simply flashing a couple files like on the S3 and editing the build.prop back, and your done...? I have already had to re-do my wallet and it has been a TEDIOUS experience... I think everyone that has done it a few times could tell ya but it's just different somehow, I think they stepped up security or something with this phone it seems... I can follow a guide to a "T" and it will do something different than my last flash... This has got to be one of the mods that makes me not wanna change roms so frequently like I used to... Don't know what the deal is though? I finally got my current Beans 4 setup ( and fully functional ) with the wallet mod, s-pen sound mod and Perseus kernel so I am happy, but the wallet mod was the longest and most tedious part of upgrading roms IMO. It's a must have for me seeing as tons of places use it around my location and it just makes things simpler. And you never have to worry about forgetting your ( back pocket ) wallet! While I don't really think that it could be included in a rom, I think that there has to be a better way than what it is now...

Then you'll soon or later run into compatibility issue. It may work for a few weeks, but may not work afterwards. It seems like current google apk recognizes our carrier and model via build.prop. The only way to make the google wallet to work as of right now is by temp. changing build.prop to nexus and switching it after overwriting the legit apk with modded one.....and this is not an easy process. So developers can't just integrate the wallet in the rom......it won't work. lmao

II'm quite interested but I jacked up something along the way because I completely wiped my entire phone, it won't go past the HTC screen. Been messing with it for 4 hours, I'd love to get this on my phone but I'm at a loss. I'm trying to flash the release keys you posting in RUU and radio images and all that but I think I screwed my phone.
If you can get into recovery then you can sideload the rom. Ive done this with included recovery 2.6.3.3,I never posted the radio, just a twrp backup, but you have to get a rom on the phone to copy the backup into the twrp, backups folder.
Copy the rom to where your adb and fastboot are located connect phone via twrp run this command
adb push nameofrom.zip /sdcard/. exactly as shown here change nameofrom.zip to the name of the rom your trying to flash...this will put a rom on your internal storage and it then can be flashed via twrp

Just the kind of ROM I was looking for. I take it that there's some serious integration with particular AT&T parts of the ROM to make VVM work. I attempted to change the sku id to the international variant (to get rid of the browser bar from settings, get the intl signal icons, and have the ability to toggle between LTE/HSPA+), but messages kept crashing.
Anyways, thanks for the hard work. Runs smooth, and works as advertised

Most of the messaging apps are the same. With all the required files, you only need to change your CID to CWS__001 to get it to integrate into the messages.apk. Even on sprint, Developer, etc, if you change the CID, you will see a black box in the messaging app where the VVM usually resides. I had it working on Viper for a while, but an update messed it up & since I use G Voice, I really haven't had the need. I think it may heve been fixed in Viper though, since I seem to recall one of the recent updates mentioning it now working.
