I am one of those guys who downloaded the leaked version about a month ago. And I know today is the day for the official ICS come out. (The official version is Software version 2.14.531.3 while the first leaked version is Software version 2.14.531.1) The problem is when I check the "software update", the OTA notification didn't came out. Is there any way to get the OTA back, I really don't want to reflash the RUU because reinstall my apps is a disaster...
Is there somebody can help?

Since this is a sticky and is the first thing most visitors will see when they go looking for instructions PLEASE be sure to define all terms or link to a good description or or instructions. I know some of them since my old phone is a G1 running CM 6.0 but there are some new terms here and I am having to hunt down definitions before I can start to root my new Verizon Fascinate and install roms.
Example:
What is root? (hopefully people know this one but it can't hurt)
What is Clockwork? (I used to use this on my G1)
What is Voodoo?
What is Lagfix?
What is Odin?

DI01 was the first maintence release update for the Fascinate. If you are stock, this is most likely what you are running.
DJ05 was a leaked maintenance release that was never actually released, but fixed many bugs, including the GPS for most
DL09 is the current maintenance release that was leaked, but should be rolling out OTA soon. By most accounts, there isn't much difference between this and the previous leak.
TELUS is a Canadian service provider which also has a Samsung Galaxy S device named the Fascinate, but TELUS is a GSM carrier. Ideally, TELUS should have named their device after the Vibrant, as it is closer in hardware to that variant.
You should make it a bit more clear that posts concerning questions should be posted in the General Section instead of the Dev section.
If there is no effort being made to keep this infomation up to date then this really doesnt need to be stickied as its relevance has ceased importance other than confuse people with outdated information

It's not a negative, it's relevant. I'm not going to further compound an already confusing situation. If it's stickied, it's the responsibility of whoever started it to maintain that thread. There's no reason to sticky a thread that is out of date or no longer valid. The updates should be made to the OP and replace the outdated information.

A friend just bought a Fascinate and I'm having a hell of a time finding up to date info. Everything I seem to find leads back to the same link this leads to for rooting. The post for one click root that apparently is too old. Is there a new method to gain root on this phone?
Can anyone tell me how I can make a backup of my OS either turn it into a MD5 or zip file?
I mean like the ones that are used to return to stock or upgrade to a newer version.

there is a app called odin maker that will allow you to backup your os as a .tar file.
Hi all
I got my Galaxy 2 this last week and wanted to know a couple of things about firmware, updates...
1.- Kies is not great... Is there any alternative? Can I update my SG2 with another software?
2.- Where can I check the latest versions of the firmware?
3.- Kies is giving me the amazing "This version of the device cannot be updated"... My phone comes straight from Samsung, so I guess I have the Samsung official ROM. Also is not rooted (for now)

P.S. I also got the pink crap in the lens anyone having this got it out with any firmware? I'll try to create an action for Photoshop to remove it. Let's see if my 2D skills can help the community with this path.

I think the question that MOST people have is
1). The GUIDE to upgrade to ICS when their phone is:
- Stock, rooted, ClockWork
- Custom ROM, rooted, ClockWork
2). Root ICS and install CWR, since there are MANY ways to do this. ie. trip flash, does not trip flash, install CWR, etc...

I just bought my Note 2 last week, but have not had a chance to really mess with it since I have been working long hours, school, and taking care of the Fam. My question is, is it safe to root on the latest OTA? I read in several places that it wasn't and that's why I am unsure, I will try to do more reading on it tonight. Or maybe you Guys or Gals can direct me to the the correct link or thread, once again sorry if it has been already asked and thanks for your help!

Read thid thread very thoroughly and if you have questions ask them before you do anything to your phone:

Its easier to ask first than spend hours trying to fix a mess up. If you dont know which updates you have taken go to Settings/About Phone and look at your build number. If your build number is VRALJB follow the link under section 1a for VRALJB, if the build number is VRALL4 follow the link for VRALL4, if you are on VRAMC3 (which is the latest update) follow the link for VRAMC3. Read, read, and read again until you understand everything you will be doing, if you dont fully understand then come ask questions first and someone will help you as soon as they can.

My phone isn't rooted yet but I got sent the automatic OTA update of 4.3 and downloaded it to my device. Where can I find it on my phone once its downloaded?
You are missing large areas of basic knowledge, suggest you go and read the sticky thread over in general forum.
You will find that your question makes no sense.
