In-app OpenVPN - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys/ladies...
I have a little question - is it possible to write a in-app openvpn connection (via streams and sockets)? If it is, then is there any android application which managed that already? I have also problems finding in-depth openvpn protocol description :/.
Thanks for help .

Sorry, for me this was strictly a development question - jet not rom related.

So there's not any kind of app that can bypass filtering? Any anti-filter client?

I wish to enable openvpn services in my app. Problem is that my clients have network infrastructure to which you can only connect via openvpn. Upon that infrastructure I need to write an app that will do some business related things (can not talk about it due to NDA). The problem is this needs to work on android 2.2 (root is not an option) and iOS (Android has a priority).
So, do you know good protocol description for openvpn? Like: How headers look like? How openvpn starts secure connection? How authorization works? Etc...

[Q] RDP into an android device

I've looked around the forums and the web, but all I've been able to find are apps that allow remote desktop from the android device to a computer.
What I'm wondering, does Android have the ability to support some kind of remote login? through telnet, or rdp, or somesuch.
And if it doesn't support it natively, would it be possible for an app to create a remote session on the device? I spend a good portion of my time at work logged in remotely into other computers, and have been thinking about our society's higher focus on mobile devices, and it seems like it would be fairly useful to be able to remote into a mobile device, like android.
Anywho, I haven't been able to find much on it, so I'll look forward to your responses.
There's an app for that.
Hey Brandon. I don't mean to spam, honestly, but I actually work for a software developer that makes a remote control solution for Android for remotely screen sharing with the device over wi-fi or 3g. It also works for PCs and Macs as well. You can PM me for more details. I don't want to SPAM my company name over the forum.
Btw, the solution doesn't require rooted devices which is another bonus!

I found a solution its called teamviewer quick support. This is recently launched and allows connection into android pho e.
Do not be confused with the team viewer for pc. This is a different application and available to download from Google play store
Make sure you add " quick support" after team viewer to download right app.

[Q] show a captive portal for users that ride on my android portable hotspot

Hello,
I want to direct every user that connects through my portable hotspot I open on my Android to a captive portal - html page or something.
How can it be done? Is there any app for this? Is it possible?
I've searched and didn't find something like that, all I've found about captive portal is to automatically log in to a captive portal through the Android and not make the user that connect through the Android see/press a captive portal.
Also of course, I've found ways to do it on a normal router but not on a smartphone.
Thank you very much,

Hello, Is anybody has answer for this?
Thanks,
Sorry I can't help but I've been searching myself for months. And this almost got my hopes up..
What I want to do is turn my device into a portable web server.
But here's what I envisioned. You are at a large convention. There is no Cellphone tower signal and the location doesn't provide wifi. You want people to get a PDF file on the spot. Blackberry, iOS, Android whatever can access the wifi. So you make a small portable device that can serve up webpages. I could do this all on a laptop. But 6 ounce device that can do all that would be much better.
So just putting it out there for some developer reading this going man why would someone want a captive portal on android.

Having been pointed to this thread from another I was involved in, you may want to have a look at Using an Android as a webserver
Or...
kWS - Android Web Server
PAW Server for Android
+1, I need this as well.
Has anyone found a solution yet?
I've been thinking the same thing and could not get anything. I'm gonna try SimonTS post/reply and see if it works.
There is an app in Google Play with the name Paywall from fattin.com. It implements the captive portal logic but you have to be root in your device.

Did you find any solution ?
Maybe by installing Ubuntu on the phone
Hi,
You can try to install Ubuntu by using multirom, and use a hotspot tutorial for linux. The bad thing is that you cannot use android apps while the hotspot is running, because you are in the Ubuntu OS. You can use Ubuntu apps either. It's a complicated solution, but the only one who is working.
@mikycomputers - any update on this ? I'm also looking for a similar app
Hi, is there any solution now?
Still no solution...
We gonna have to make an app....
Hi
Maybe netcut you can find it on playstore

You can do it,if your device is rooted.
Generally any OS detects captive portal by looking for a specific site. Such as captive.apple.com by IOS and Android 8.0.0
You can simply redirect them to your server.
Edit hosts file in directory /system/etc/hosts
Code:
192.168.43.1 captive.apple.com
192.168.43.1 clients3.google.com
Replace 192.168.43.1 with your server address.
Don't forget to start your web server on port 80
I'll give more details,if still require.
Captive portal server app
I've just found this thread while searching on building a captive portal using WordPress and don't have enough posts to add URLs but here goes...
There is a project for raspi & certain routers that does this...
piratebox.cc
Which has now been ported to android by jochen ruehl who iirc is the guy who made paw server...
piratebox.cc/android
There is also lots more information about piratebox on his blog...
fun2code-blog.blospot.com/search/label/PirateBox
And if your interested in how it works or want to edit it to your own needs, the source code is on github...

Which component unblock on Netguard to enable mirror screen ??

Hi,
I'v a mi a3 device (android stock), and when I try to mirror the display to a wifi dongle (no program needed) I'v to fully disable netguard to let the mirror works....somebody knows which element is the cause of this so to let me enable just it.
I know that there's a paid option to see log the request, but I only need to know which element unlock just in this condition, so don't want to buy it only for this specific case....
Thanks
As you didn't provide any technical information, my guess would be that you're using Miracast. In such case, see here technical networking details and create rules accordingly:

yes, I think I'm using miracast (it's not so clear in my language settings) it's enabled under the bluetooth options.
So how can I create a rules in netguard (as I sad I don't have the full version), cause to me seems that I can only enable or disable network traffics per app.
Thanks

You need to open ports mentioned in the article. Either pay for full version of Netguard or use some free alternative. Also consider if you need a Firewall at all..

Droni Proxy app Alternative

Hello,
I would like to find out how to tunnel all my apps via my Proxy on Android, I tried Droni app from google play but it gives me a lot of packet loss.
is there any App I can use to run all the apps on my private proxy with Username and Password?
android 11
Nubia Red magic 6 Pro
wifi/data
edit: Non Routed Device.
If you are familiar with iptables here is a good app for android that lets you control all your network connections
AFWall+ (Android Firewall +) - Apps on Google Play

Hey thanks for posting this one, but unfortunately my phone is not rooted yet. do you think that root is required to setup a proxy over Android? or should I just keep looking for a non Rooted Device App. for now I didn't found noting yet!

I've always and only used rooted devices and therefore I'm a very satisfied user of AFWall+ (Donate) for years and didn't try anything else. But if my device were not rooted I'd use NetGuard but I don't know if it supports your requirements.

You just saved my life! NetGuard was awesome. proxy is working fine for now. no packet loss no lags or issues during the game. this is a perfect alternative.
Thanks so much!

No reason to thank me at all. All credits obviously go to @M66B Marcel is a great developer! It's always worth to get his pro features; even if you don't need them it would support a continuous, fantastic development. NetGuard isn't suitable for me because I need VPN for the connection to my Raspberry Pi in the home network via OpenVPN/PiVPN and Android only provides for one VPN connection.
But for years, I'm using Marcel's FairEmail; for me the very best and most privacy orientated email client. The other fantastic development by Marcel that I use is XPrivacyLua but you need to be rooted for it.
