Galaxy S2 - eMMC brick risk? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have Spain's ICS unbranded rom (XWLP7) with CF-Root and I've checked my PRV/fwrev and i'm also with 0x19.
It is safe? What should I do?

Save from this http://www.xda-developers.com/android/hard-brick-bug-on-galaxy-s-ii-and-note-leaked-ics-kernels/

If I could I would smak you on head in a friendly way....
Read again, its for all other phones but ours.

Kernels that SHOULD be safe are:
[*]GT-I9100 ICS leaks
[*]GT-I9100 official releases
[*]Kernels built off of the GT-I9100 Update4 source base
Plus the post says buggy pre release kernels .
hence my question and the real answer is its up to the OP what they want to do .

[Q]Update to ICS

Good Morning Everybody, i just yesterday buy one Samsung GS2 and it have I9100XXKI4 Base version i saw many manuals to update it to ICS but my question is what version i need to chose is mater if i chose etc this "I9100XXLPH" and is different than my?
hi mate, ill be brief because its just about my bed time
I9100XXKI4 is gingerbread, I9100XXLPH is ics. So they wont be the same if your upgrading from gb to ics.
Are you wanting a custom rom or stock samsung?

I want Stock because of guaranty, so any manual to just take the stock ICS Rom?
and what CF-Root i need to use? i mean version!
you do know when you flash cf-root via odin your going to increase your custom counter and in effect void your warranty, so youll need to either use a usb jig or use chainfires triangle away app?

yes, everytime you use odin to flash a rom on your phone you increase the custom counter by one, if this is not set to 0 ( zero ) your would lose your warranty if you took it to a samsung store for repair. So when you flash ice cream sandwich on your phone, theres an app called triangle away by chainfire ( play store ) which will reset it back to zero and your warranty will be ok! but only use it on ics not gb.
when you tell me your location ill post you a link to ics for you ( stock ) and the cf-root file and the instructions to use it. You have flashed a phone with odin before?

Firstly, try not to hijack threads like this.
Back to your problem, have you tried adding APNs in whatever ROM you are trying?

Right. Can you confirm that you used menu (left touchkey) > save to save your APN?
If that fails, please tell me your carrier and country.

anything solve with this problem;
My guess is you have an firmware for a different country and need to install the CSC for your country.
Either that or flash stock GB rom as you claim all ICS has the problem .

4.0.4 Odim rom?

I´ve had some bad and scary experiences trying to move my GS2 from Illusion-ICS v1.0.1 XXLPB-I9100 (kernel 3.0.15-XXLPB-CL99600) to ICS 4.0.4 via CWM.
Can anyone point me to an Odin flashable ICS 4.0.4 compatible with my current rom?
thanks in advance
number of roms in dev section ,see which fits u...
I´ve been browsing for ages but they all seem to be CWM.
You are going to have to read every single rom post to find an Odin flash if their is such a custom rom ..
100 CWM flashed today no problem .
4-04 rom do you mean non Samsung rom as 4-04 is not a Samsung release .
jje
Samsung did to start rolling out the 4.0.4 ICS.

I don't know where you get your information... latest Samsung stock firmwares are 4.0.3 still.
As of right now, the only 4.0.4 firmwares are AOSP or AOKP.
Cm9 got a special Odin ROM for people like you.

Hey,
Thanks for the reply.
Could you please further explain.
The most recent update isn't on the list I saw.
Can I simply flash another STOCK rom so that I have a revision number that is common, e.g. XXALF2
Will that root site you linked work for any revision, including the one I have above??
Please be really specific as I really want to root just a little worried.

Interesting - 'cause you said "there is nothing there", which seems to contradict that you knew.
But anyways - JPKJ2 appears to be for the Middle East region. So if you care about having Middle Eastern languages, then stick to one from that region.
Otherwise, as long as your phone model is I9100, then it shouldn't matter what region the firmware comes from, as long as it is specifically for an I9100. Just make sure you don't use an I9100G firmware. Though, I have heard of people having issues with firmwares for the China region. I can't speak on that personally though, as I've never tried one.
