This has been discussed many, many times on here and elsewhere. AT&T did NOT release the 2.1 update yet. If you are impatient, you can go here and flash the X10a world generic firmware. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825201
^^^^^^^^^
I'm a USA AT&T customer. I used that and I have had no problems that were not my fault in the first place
I to am on at&t I flashed 2.1 generic onto my phone no problems just remember to put your apn's in ajd you will jave 2.1 enjoy
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
Thread moved to Q&A.
A question for those more informed than myself
Hey Guys, wondering if you all could help me out.
I Updated my Xperia X10a on At&t using the flash method and now I cannot connect to the network... I've been looking around, but I cannot find any hits for my issue.
Basically when I go to Mobile Networks and search, it finds the AT&T Carrier, but when I click it and it tries to register it says "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network"
Just stumped, that's what I am...

You need to set your APN settings
Go to settings --> wireless & netwroks --> mobile networks --> access point names and creat a new APN as follows:
<name> att
<apn> wap.cingular
<proxy> wireless.cingular.com
<port> 80
<username> not set
<password> not set
<server> not set
<mmsc> http://mmsc.cingular.com
<mms proxy> wireless.cingular.com
<mms port> 80
<mcc> 310
<mnc> 410
<apn type> not set
I tried before to put an APN in, but with slightly different settings (username and passwords)...
Anywho, I tried your settings, I go to APN's and hit menu > New... Fill out all your information, then hit menu > save... It goes back to the blank apn screen... is that normal? or shouldn't it show the new one I just made?

You can then go back and choose it as your default. The settings I have are 100% working.
If that does not work, try repairing your firmware with SEUS.
the screen after you click "Access Point Names" just says "APNs" at the top. When I make a new one, it doesn't show up... ideas?
Also, if I restore with SEUS, will it restore 2.1? or back to 1.6?

You will restore to whatever firmware you have right now. I suggest you do this first (restore using SEUS) then enter your APN settings.
Okay, so I have done a repair through SEUS and gotten back to where I was...
Same issue... I can get into the APNs area and create a new one, but it doesn't seem to save... there is a blank area where I know there should be a list.
Also, let me express my appreciation that you are taking the time to help me.

Weird. OK try Settings --> Sony Ericsson (should be top option in the menu). Make sure you are connected to a WiFi network and try downloading the settings from SE servers.
Lol... Okay so when I go to the sony ericsson thingy...it says "could not download settings. Retry?"
I'm on wifi and I'm able to browse the internet on the phone

This is a weird problem. So in your APN settings you have no profiles at all?

Guys, it is not APN issue - it says "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network". I had the same message before unlocking mine. But maybe I have a working hunch. When I received mine locked to TMO UK phone and tried my TMO US SIM, it just stuck on screen with network unlocking key input that is the way locked phone behaves under 1.6. But I blew away dust from my old proxy SIM card for unlocking iPhone 2008 and it worked! I was glad to save some bucks, but when I flashed 2.1, after around 16 hours I got the same error message about network and no service anymore. I had contact issue with this proxy card, so I tried several times and eventually broke it, so now I am unable to research it deeper. Without this proxy SIM card my phone behaved differently - it wanted network unlock code just after turning on. With proxy it booted silently and just showed that the network is unreachable. So I see exactly the same behavior in your phone as mine with proxy SIM card. It sounds weird and I didn't find another case like mine, but look like some way your phone is locked. I remember when iPhone wasn't cracked yet, some phones were hardware unlocked by installing some proxy cards inside the phone (by soldering), so you just need to insert your own card and it worked like unlocked. It is the only logical explanation for me now. How did you get your phone? If it is officially from ATT store, just replace it. If not - Houston, we have a problem.
No, its nothing like that... The phone is a stock att phone from an att store... It was working previously just fine and this whole mess started aster I flashed it to 2.1...
Could I have missed something while flashing I wonder?

Probably not. The only thing is getting the APN settings and all should be working fine. This may be dumb, but are you sure you are entering all the info correctly and then saving the settings. You should then choose it as your default APN.

So one more time:
Settings --> Wireless & Networks --> Mobile Networks --> Access Point Names.
Then press the far left button with the 4 boxes on top of it and click New APN and enter the settings as mentioned earlier.
If not, then try a hard reset. Remove the battery while the phone is still on, remove the SIM card and wait 10 minutes before putting it back in and turning on the phone.

kabayan! i have a Pantech Sky IM-A600S but i can only use it via x-sim card. I was wondering is your unit openline to all networks? If so how did you do it?
I think there are firmware updates on their website but i cant go past the membership stage as their website is written completely in Korean and google translate does not work directly with the page. I managed to download the USB drivers but I need help in downloading the step by step guide on how to update firmware. Anyone?
TIA!
Well
I happpen to us the sky ima650s on sk telecom in korea to upgrade go to the home page isky.co.kr and on the side there should be 2 boxes click the one with the phone picture on it then it would lead u to another page go down until you find pictures of phones click the right button until u find ur vega then click it then clic on something that says 셀프업그레이드(in korean) then when a small popup comes up click the one that has the letters 비회원다운로드(also in korean) then u should get ur upgrade steps popup u would need the serial number under the battery now can anyone build a custom gingerbread rom for ima650s? I could provide any firmware files available just ask at [email protected]
What is the latest android version that you have right now? mine is only froyo. is there any gingerbread update already? BTW, i get the updates using the phones built in update component.
hoping to hear from you, and im wondering, do you know some mods that we can put on our phones?
i need help2
My fone's on froyo and there isn't any sign of gingerbread from pantech for the a650s model nobody has succeeded on flashing gingerbread on pantech devices and they say that it would be impossible unless pantechs reveals their kernel and the new vega racer's bootloader is locked so we don't know how pantech designed the gingerbread anyways the first vega model doesn't have hope achieving official gingerbread upgrade
I just want to ask if you have the sms issue? i cant seem to create sms exceeding 80 characters, in my research, i found out that korea only allows 80 characters via sms and when it exceeds it automatically changes to mms. Did you encounter this?
yes
if it exceeds (i think) 80 characters of letters it will turn to a mms and u'll need the 3g communications connected to send
I just got back from Korea and I'd like to use my phone on AT&T network, but because I cannot see the IMEI, they wouldn't let me. I borrowed the SIM card from the employee, and her SIM came up with a signal and a bit R, which I guess means roaming.
Before I left Korea, I stopped by the SKY service center in Yongsan, Seoul, and I asked them to unlock it so I could use it in Korea. They reflashed it, but I have no idea if it really can work or not.
When I insert my prepaid SIM card into it, nothing happens. No bars, no R.
Has anyone figured out a way to either totally unlock it or to use something like X-SIM with it so I can use the calling function? I don't care at all about data.
Any help would be great, thanks!!!
i buy this phone at 2nd hand, ive got mine already openline. i used globe simcard. about the 80 limit characters in texting, just download chompSms from android market and used it as your default messaging. my only problem on this phone i cant find where to buy accessories in my area (baguio). i need extra battery, wall charger and usb connector. i just found one store selling accessories located in manila.

if you have the device that connects to the proprietary port you can crack that open and look for the pinouts to make your own usb data cable and charger. that is what i did with my unit.
hey
Somebody has developed a recovery for this but has not managed to make the sd card mount work so its pretty useless anybody want to make this work only ask if you know how to handle it
sky a820l 3g locked
Hi id4thomas,
I just got sky very new model, vega lte ex a-820l, from my friend. Everything's fine, but I can't surfing 3g internet(3g lock?), my friend is no problem in LG U+, his SIM came up with a signal with R icon, is there any ways to unlock it with 3g lock?

I have 3 Sky phones (A600S, A710K, A690S). The first thing I always do when I reset the phones to factory default is to go to Settings > Wireless and Networks > Mobile Data Settings > Access Point Names then create a new APN by pressing option button (hardware button below the screeen) > New APN. I use Sun so I give it the name "sunbroadband" and the apn "minternet" (without quotes). I then select the apn by pressing the radio button because it is not selected by default. Without a selected APN, the phone will not connect to a 3G network.
Hope this helps.

One does not simply use 3G on A820L by adding the APN. You have to unlock the 3G function. We can do it easily in Vietnam, but now I have no time to translate for you, may be google translate could help

I have a new what i was told is an unlocked atrix on the sasktel network. i can call and text but i can't save my apn settngs to get my internet working. the wifi works fine but not the network one. please help, my provider won't
What are your current APN settings? Go to Settings >Wireless & networks > Mobile Networks>Access Point Names
Neither will mine. Unlocked Bell Atrix on MTS.
I have no APNs listed, and they never show up once saved.
Not sure what other network settings are..but I'm unlocked on Telus and my apn settings are: sp.telus.com
When I first entered them I had so.telus.com and had phone and SMS but no mobile data until I realized my typo.

Hello buddy,
i had the same problem and the solution that i found is to set a new apn and just set the following choices
1. Name
2. Apn
3. port
All other choices left blank.
I did that and it works perfect.

Are you rooted?
If yes try to change the /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/telephony.db add the apn in there
no i am not rooted i did not want to do that till i knew i got everything running.
I tried and tried to get the Bell Atrix to work.
APN Manager: no luck
Network Info II: no effect when settings changed either in OS or APN manager.
Whenever an APN was typed in, it would "save" (proven by APN Manager) but not be selectable, it just disappears once menu-save.
Returned it and purchased a Nexus S, took all of a minute to get data working.

i cant just change the first four because the MCC and the mnc are not registering i have to enter them manually. my provider says it is not reading them from the sim card for some reason. i rooted the phone now. i am going to try getting into it from there
The easiest way I found was download SQLite editor. Its a few dollars. Then open it and click yes for root. Go to dialer storage then telephony.DB. then carriers. Add your apn to the list. If eceything is correct it should work. If the phone does not read the mcc then you may be screwed though.

Hi there...
I have a very bad problem with my android device...
I have a android tablet device and I like to use 3G on it but my 3G career settings need access number value. It's *99# but I can't find "access number" section on my APN settings. Please help me to solve this problem!
Thanks a lot!
Access number is used if you're using a 3G modem on a computer. It's like an initialization so that computer thinks it's dialing up. Modem would still have APN settings set up inside.
If you have a tablet, you need the APN settings. Generally, copying everything from another phone on the same carrier does the trick. Calling up your provider and asking them directly will also work. I've had to do that before.
Thanks for your quick answer!
As I said, I have an android tablet. When I use my tablet modem on my PC, it works perfectly! But when I connected it to tablet it didn't work. I try another simcard (with different career) and it works on my tablet then my tablet, modem and simcard works but settings on my tablet for 3G simcard is wrong!
Only different between settings on tablet and PC is "Access number"! So what's my problem? I'm so dizzy!!
Ok, lemme understand it correctly..
First of all, you have two sim cards that you can use in the tablet. I'll refer to them as card one and card two.
Card one - you put into tablet, and the internet doesn't work. However, when you tether tablet to a computer internet works. Right?
Card two - internet works fine on the tablet, and if you tether it to the PC.
Is this about right?
Ok so, here's what I would do.
Insert card two, check APN settings on the tablet. Settings -> Wireless(2.3 and below) / More... (3.0 and above) -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names
Take note of the name, APN, MMSC
Insert card one. Check APN, and see if they have changed. If they're the same, then the sim card doesn't specify APNs, and you'll need to talk to your provider. If there's nothing there, same story. If they have changed to something else, then it's a good sign. Keep troubleshooting.
What I mean by sim card specifying APN... Some providers encode their sim cards with all the APN settings, so you can easily swap them. Others code those into devices, so if you insert sim card from second type of provider into device from first time of provider or no provider, you won't get any settings and will have to do them manually..... Sorry if this is confusing
Ok, so, if there are new APN(s) after inserting card one, check if you have packet data enabled (same menu - Mobile Networks). Then check if you get 3G(Edge,H+,4G etc) symbol showing up on the notification bar..... If you don't then most likely APN settings are still wrong, which brings me back to call your provider. Otherwise, you may have problems with proxy, or somewhere in the system.
Oh, and that access number, seriously that's not your problem.
So try the above, and let me know how it works out
so I am having APN issues after upgrading from 2.6.3 to 4.1.2 rooted. no data or mms, phone and txt works great. same provider.
galaxy s2 sch-r760 generic cdma, ACS provider here in alaska. apparently goes through gci?
now this is going to be a book, so grab a tasty beverage.
when i add the APN the mnc and mmc are not correct.
when i change them it discards the APN
i have no sim.
this thread did not help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715788
if i dont change those, it seems to communicate with my network as it fills in the mmsc field. but i get no internet.
if i enable then disable airplane mode it shows the 3g emblem, then it disappears.
I have all the correct APN info from my provider.
I have tried every way of changing the APN-conf.xml file but nothng has worked.
my thinking is that i need to change the default mnc and mmc that appear when i go to add the apn, to the correct values and then i will be able to save it.
however i cannot find that field in the systems. if someone know a trick i havent found in the last week of researching, please help.
could my phone be locked? if so how would i go about unlocking? could upgrading my software have changed my cdma settings??
i am fairly new to messing with android but i have some linux experience and am a quick learner.
Also if there is a custom rom or kernal or binary or what ever the operating system is called that might fix this issue and work on my device please let me know.
