[OFFICIAL] Extended Battery Request - EVO LTE - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

This below letter has been sent to Seidio, and Mugen.
I hope you will send it too via email or written form.
If you have any other battery companies that you would like me to send it to, please let me know.
I have attached the letter in .doc form for you to easily use/manipulate it accordingly.

The reason of this message is to request one of your quality, extended batteries for Sprint’s new flagship device, the HTC EVO LTE. It has come to the attention to many desiring consumers that the battery can be easily removed from this device and possibly replaced with a larger, extended battery.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0jGY2N2h1U
The above linked video shows how to remove the battery within three minutes and forty-two seconds on an HTC One S. This phone is extremely similar to the HTC EVO LTE. There are very little differences between these phones design wise.
As you may know, the popular website xda-developers.com has a great following of customers on various, flagship phone models. There are thousands of posts related directly to extended batteries. I see many posts relating to your products and the desire for them. Please take in consideration the consumer request of your extended batteries for the HTC EVO LTE.
Mind you, the battery in this phone is sealed. A special tool will be needed to remove the back plastic piece off of the phone. After that, only four screws need to be removed, and then the battery easily comes out. The battery is attached via cable.
Different variations of extended batteries may be in your company’s best interest. For example, the HTC EVO LTE comes with a 2,000 mAh battery already installed. Some people may not want to add too much bulk to their phone with an extended battery. A small increase in size to add a 2,500 mAh battery may be the sweet spot for some consumers. A 3,500 mAh battery will also be a good choice to add to your product lineup for the people willing to sacrifice size for battery life.
I hope that you will take into consideration this request for your extended battery for the HTC EVO LTE device. Please forward this message to upper management and your engineering group to see if this is possible and profitable. I patiently await your answer regarding this request.
Thank you,
An interested customer

Sounds awesome. I'll be getting this phone around July with my upgrade.

I'll give that case a look.

I'm definitely more interested in a extended battery case opposed to tinkering around with taking the battery out. Thanks for the heads up!

+1 for the extended battery case. I do not want to open up my case either. Sounds good, thanks for the reach out to them.

Looking forward to seeing Seidio's battery case. I just hope they keep it slim so it can still fit in the Sprint-branded car dock.

I'm not sure how you think that a larger capacity/size battery could work in an aluminum unibody frame... but the idea of a case with battery built in has more merit. Unfortunately, the cost in size will be significant, and you will have to avoid covering up the plastic panel as the NFC and wireless are there and should not be blocked by more battery.

So something similar to the Xpal Power Skin I figure. I had one for my OG Evo, only used it at work as it added quite a bit of bulk to the device. Maybe Seidio will have better execution of design.

Thanks for taking the initiative and reaching out to amazing companies, such as Seidio for support to fulfill our desires! Hopefully they don't run into any major problems. It would be amazing if the battery case has equal to or greater than the battery for the original Evo's. Internal + External = hopefully a good day of heavy use!

one of these for the evo should be pretty sweet

well i just saw the seidio power case for the iphone, and im very optomistic based on the design for the battery case that it wont add as much bulk as xpal powerskin would add. http://youtu.be/nlfJmmYjPKU
It looks pretty slim before the silicone is on

I have this extended battery. I bought it for my old device and keep using it for my new device. Whenever my phone is in low battery, I just plug this thing in my purse and It's all charge after awhile. http://www.spigen.com/etc-accesories-2/kuel-series/sgp-portable-mobile-battery-kuel-f60q-series.html if you are interested in.

Slight Update
Ok, with it now being July, I figured I would check in at Seidio to see what is going on and to check progress if any. Here is the conversation I had with an online representative. I would have taken a screenshot, but you would have been unable to see the complete convo:
Please wait for the next available representative…
Jon: Hey I was curious of an update in regards to the development of the power case for the Evo 4G LTE
You are next in queue. We will be with you in just a moment.
You are next in queue. We will be with you in just a moment.
Risa: Hello! Thank you for contacting Seidio Online! How can I help you today?
Jon: Hey I was curious of an update in regards to the development of the power case for the Evo 4G LTE
Risa: Hi Jon.
Risa: Let me check.
Jon: ok thank you
Risa: I don't believe we have anything finalized as of right now.
Risa: I will forward your request to product development.
Risa: Have you signed up to receive product notifications for the HTC EVO 4G LTE?
Jon: Oh, okay. Thank you for forwarding it, there are a lot of people I know that would enjoy a power case for our EVO 4G LTE because right now it seems as though the iPhone is the only one with a power case unfortunately
Jon: No, I don't believe I have signed up yet, I just check back here every now and then to see if there are any updates or something new
Risa: I see. If you would like to sign up, you may send an email here: [email protected]
Jon: I will look into that, thanks
Risa: You're welcome!
Jon: So are they working on the development of this case for the EVO, or is it still in a Planning/Suggestions stage?
Risa: Unfortunately, I'm not sure.
Jon: Oh, okay then.
Risa: Sorry about that.
Jon: It's ok. I like many others are just in hopes that Seidio truly does make a Power case for the EVO 4G LTE and not just the iPhone
Risa: I'll definitely forward your request.
Jon: Okay, Thanks for your help.
Risa: You're welcome.
Jon: Have a nice day
Risa: Thank you for contacting live chat and have a great day!

So from what I can tell the case hasn't gone into development yet, but my request was escalated to product development, so there is a possibility we may get a Power case if continue to request and "keep it fresh on their mind" so to speak. Maybe emailing a signed petition could be a good idea?

Why??? The battery life on this device is already INCREDIBLE.
Sent from my LTEvo using XDA Premium

It would be nice for traveling, if you had enough juice to not have to charge for a few days (with moderate usage).

This is true, it does have great battery life already, but why not make it even better!? A really good long day of intense use and still have 50% battery

White back Amaze with black D30. What should my asking price be?

Hello all. Got my Amaze on launch day. Been a great phone but tired of the limitations all the devs face. No AOKP. No CM. Just so many things standing in their way too. I want to move on to another device that has greater support in the dev community. I would include two cases. One is a D30 and the other a clear with white argyle (has yellowed some) and of course the charger. The condition is 10\10 zero wrong with it. White is whitey white. Screen has no scratches/blemishes. NEVER been dropped (knock on wood)What should my asking price be??? Also is anyone interested? Trades would be considered but no promises.
Also I am currently running ICS roms with 4EXT recovery and S-off.
toss a picture up man
I'm away from all other devices with a Camera at the moment
Standing By
If only had I seen this early, just bought a used one, a few scratches on the cover, but I got a new cover to replace it with, just too lazy to s-off it since I already s-offed my old one, lol.
I'd check on Craigslist to get a feel for the current asking price.
It's different prices for different markets. Selling online "can" be a hassle.
I honestly prefer cash in hand unless it's friends.
The cases are a + which means you could ask for a bit more, but someone could just opt to not buy the cases...in which case you'd have to options.
Lower the price and exclude the cases or decline the offer altogether.
I suggest figuring out the lowest you'd take for the phone first. Then figure out what you'd ACTUALLY like to get for it, then ask a bit above it because of the cases.
That way when you lower the price to exclude the cases it's right where you want it to be at.
You get what you want, and they feel like they got a good deal.
Just some suggestions. Hope it helps. Good luck.

Seriously, my fiance's Sensation is so much frikkin better with all the dev support. She benches higher, battery is smaller and lasts longer than mine. The Amaze just hit at a weird time. It has great hardware but not available in many markets and has some goofy drivers that screw the kernal development up.

A cellular device is a tool... If all u use your tool for is to attempt to improve ur tool, then ur tool is junk to begin with lol.

Honestly they go for about 20$ online, I have it with the black amaze, and you can't really see much of the trim of the phone. If I were you I would only pay about 10 dollars.

why so cheap? :O

hello, im thinking about buying this phone, but it's price is kinda suspicious to me, it has two cores, beautiful display, 1gig of ram, but is incredibly cheap in my country unlike other dual core phones, any reason why? thanks

Because the EVO 3d is underrated. It does have good specs tho. If you're looking for a good cheap phone, the 3d is for you.
it has the best specs from one year ago, and has 3d video and playback, unlike nearly all phones. Great phone
It's like last year's car model when the new ones come out.
allright, thanks for all the answers, im getting it ^^
I personally wouldn't get it. But that's me. I've had huge stability issues with mine. But for the price it's nice. If your in the US though get the new evo.

If you are constantly watching 3D movies and stuff like me, it's worth it. It's the best android (for my uses) imo. The 3D is way better than going to the movies and its not massive like all the other phones now days. Fits nicely in the pocket. And when you get it, get the Acase Supperlaggera case for it, its only 6 bucks and the best case ihave come across. You won't be disappointed with the phone or that case, take my word

Sensation XE is going for about £250 now around here (Evo3D was £200 here)
Evo 3D and the Sensation are last years tech but still great for the price.
I imagine the sensation XE has WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more development potential due to the lack of 3D making it easier to dev for, but higher CPU, 1.5GHz dual core, and less RAM (and different GPU if i recall)

I've been through 6 of these phones. The one I have now is screwing up aswell. Random bootloops, freezing. Data issues. You name it. I got rid of my OG EVO for this free (good friend who pulled strings) and i wish I could go back. All in all, I would get new LTE if ya can.

I've just problems with it since day one. Mostly lockups. When I put into my pocket and take it out the screen won't turn on , so I have to remove battery. I get random reboots throughout the day. 50 percent of the time plugging the charger in causes the phone to lock up.
This happens all throughout the day no matter what ROM/firmware/kernel .
Just be wary to anyone who buys as I know I'm not the only one.

Great phone! I've had it since launch day, bezel on both the front and the back (for the camera) have fallen off. The front bezel was actually hanging off, and it was pretty brutally bent from my abuse (thus why I got rid of it) and the 3d switch as well as the camera button are now gone. My only complaint is that wimax sucks, but thats something we deal with here in the US.

Hmmm never had a one.
I was reluctant to go s-off but finally did using wire trick. So far - no problems.
I didn't agree with other methods everyone was using. Changing CID, downgrading bootloader. I had a theory that doing all that would make your phone "UNStable".
Still wonder about all the people that left this phone and alll the ones having stability problems if its something they did in going s-off.

Non-replaceable battery -- DO NOT BUY!

I received my lovely (and exorbitantly expensive) HTC One today. It's a well made phone, attractive and solidly built. I was very pleased with it until I discovered it has no SD Card slot and, more importantly, no way to replace the battery!
As Becool0130 has observed, "Within 1 year time the battery life wont be as good." I personally have worn out and replaced three batteries in my previous phone before the phone itself died and needed replacing. (That's why I bought the HTC One.)
How on Earth could anyone think that making a disposable $580 phone was a good idea??
Do not buy the HTC One.

Because it received favorable reviews, I liked the technical specifications, and it was reported to work well with T-Mobile's "Wifi Calling" feature. Unfortunately, none of that makes up for the fact that the phone is disposable.
No, I did not make a point of checking to make sure the battery can be replaced when it wears out, just like I don't make a point of checking to make sure the tires on a car can be replaced when they wear out. Why would I? Everyone knows they wear out, so why would anyone make a car that has non-replaceable tires, or a phone that has a non-replaceable battery? The entire idea is absurd.
It's not a mistake that I will make again, and I will do what I can to help prevent others from making the same mistake.

Well, lesson learned about researching before buying. HTC has been designing their phones without replaceable batteries for a couple of years now. Of course, the Iphone also has a fixed battery. It allows for a more sturdy construction and somewhat sleeker designs. The battery was one of my main concerns before buying.
FWIW, I'm a fairly light user, and I go about 20 hours on 50% battery. So for my daily use it is fine. However I think that with full power and gaming, my phone would only do about 7 hours before I'd have to seek a charger.
Is Samsung still hiring?
The more and more I travel, the more I run into situations where an outlet is available. On my workday, without any 'power conservation' options or debloating, my One runs from 7am-7pm with roughly 50% charge left. I use it quite a bit to check feeds, text, the occasional game - and music streaming mornings/afternoons on my 15-30 minute subway commute. I only use it heavily on the train/bus/plane, and usually plugs are available... I guess a car would prove more difficult, but a car charger would help if I was in the passenger seat and gaming on it the whole time or watching movies. And I certainly did not purchase this Mercedes of a phone because I was going to go backpacking with it.
But - everyone I know uses their phone differently - I personally would not consider the phone disposable by a longshot.
If iphones last as long as they do with out replacing a battery i see no reason why our phones wont last a long time. Also obvious troll is obvious.

No, they make an uniformed decision and then come here talking about liking the technical specs and being surprised by the lack of sd card and imbedded battery... Both of which are clearly stated in the specs I read.
And I'm sure someone on XDA will shortly figure out an easy method to replace the battery. And if not it's a good excuse to get the next latest and greatest...

Goodbye, Rezound!

Hey guys, so yesterday I made the switch to Sprint (it's waaay cheaper than VZW here..) and in return I got rid of my Rezound in exchange for the beautiful HTC One. I'm gonna miss all the talented developers here but I'm gonna miss Snuzzo's kernel and how helpful he is the most . It sucked selling my Rezound after having it for over a year and a half. I came from an iPhone to the Rezound, so everyone here made my first Android experience a great one. The reasoning behind it is because my Rezound's digitizer plug-in was messed up after replacing my screen twice, my front housing was peeling off from opening it, the vibrating motor was broke and the battery life was..well, we know our Rezounds and their batteries lol. I never post but I feel like I'm friends with everyone here just because this community is so nice and helpful. I'm gonna miss you all .
PS the One is amazing. I'm not as wowed as I was with my Rezound because I'm already familiar with Sense and Android, but it feels great in my hands and looks amazing.
I just bought a pair of Nexus 4s for the wife and I and switched to T-Mobile. This is definitely an awesome little dev community. Many thanks to all!

First; thank you for the kind words BOTH OF YOU. Good to see I helped you. Second; Who says I won't be doing anything on the Htc One?
I will definitely miss this community too! 3 days before I leave for basic training, my battery goes south and the earliest I can get a new battery is sometime on Tuesday...when I'll already be on a plane to Ft. Jackson. Bought a GS3 on CL, and I must say, the battery life is so phenomenal compared to the Rezound. 12+ hours compared to my average 4-6.
Will definitely miss the devs! I've been here since launch day in November 2011. My oh my how far development has come!!
And now Jellybean is out! I gotta stop monitoring this board cause now I'm hurting lol

Just picked up my 3rd Rezound... a minty used one with a ton of accessories and extra batteries, for $155. Nothing about this phone makes it anywhere near obsolete, but you guys just keep chasing after the latest, greatest shiny new device, and keep spending $$$. The smarter ones will be around to pick up your dirt cheap discarded leftovers. I'm still on my very first Rezound (purchased on Black Friday 2011), I just gave a used "spare" to my wife after her old dumb phone died, and now I have another backup/experimenting phone for cheap.
THANK YOU!

Sounds like someone is jealous. Don't be hating because some of us can afford the latest and greatest when it comes out .

Not jealousy, sounds more like loyal and being a money saver. I do agree, why waste your cash .....

Ahhh... I see. Common sense is the new Jealousy. :silly:
I could pay cash for a new One every month, and never miss the money. I don't live in my mom's basement, either. Fact remains, the Rezound is still a great device, and other than the lemming-like desire to have the "latest and greatest" (for no other reason than the dread of feeling left out of the stampede), there's no real reason to switch from it.
BTW... how much better was that Nexus than your Rezound? (my wife has one for a company-issued phone, and it SUCKS compared to her Rezound)
I am thinking of getting an S4 to replace my Rezound and use the Rezound to replace my D1. That way I can still have the best of both worlds.

I liked my Nexus way better vs my Rezound. Battery life was better, call quality was great, no creaky back and no washed out colors like the LCD on the Rezound. I do admit that the display on the Rezound is more crisp. That and all AOSP roms atm on the Nexus are way smoother for now. The only reason I dropped the Nexus is cause the screens would keep crapping out on me. Once developement starts firing up for the S4 bye bye S3! Plus if you have the financial standing to buy a new device and have enough left over in your bank for rainy days why care? Spend your money on things you enjoy! Spoil your wife and kids! When you croak and have a nice life insurance policy they'll be set for some time.

Some of us have more disposable income vs others and that's just an unfair fact of life .
Again, even though I myself CAN AFFORD to get a new device. I've not had a reason to. I guess assets and a word call saving doesnt apply when you said "disposable". Just save the "disposable" income. May need it one day.
What I am saying is go for it, but don't fill my mouth with words. Again, jealous, heck no.

Bolded and underlined. Which seems you are implying we are of lesser intelligence if we decide to spend full retail on new devices?

When we're talking about a devices that are hobbled by the inability to replace batteries when they go dead (planned obsolescence), or upgrade memory (thus forcing users into relying on cloud storage and higher data charges), then yes... it is a lesser intelligence issue. You're playing into the provider's hands, rather than calling your own shots. (OOOoooo.... look!! SHINY!!!)

I was never implying you were jealous. To each their own when it comes to what they do with their $$$. I just think freedoom is a **** when he is stating someone is of lesser intelligence for hopping on a newer device of their choice. I am directing the comment purely at him.

This is why I choose which shiny new device suits my needs before I buy it and drool. Plus I have unlimited data so idgaf about using cloud solutions . Some people don't care about swapping out batteries.. As most of them will already have a newer device before the battery goes bad. Lol you really think you're calling your own shots when you're contracted with a carrier? I rest my case.

Weren't these the ones that exploded in several phones recently? I'm skeptical about their phone batteries because of this. I still have a quick charger and external battery from Banker, however I wonder if there is still an issue. I hope LG releases their batteries in a more mainstream manner so I can get a third one. I hope Anker fixed whatever the issue was in the batteries.

This is great to hear. But it comes too late. They need to start planning ahead and get these out sooner.
I have used them for years starting with my evo and a few other phones along the way, now I use their 10K mah external for phones without removable backs. I haven't had a battery swell or explode. So they have always been great for me
