I have a Samsung Nexus S (Not the 4g version) I just picked up and the radio seems to not be functioning. No matter which sim card I insert into this thing the radio still comes up with zero bars I've switched the roms around a few times and I'm currently downgrading to the PeterAlfonso's Bugless Beast with the custom kernel in hopes that maybe flashing these two things may have a positive effect on my issue but does anyone have any suggestions I cant seem to find this issue on google/the forums.
I've discovered that I need to try flashing a new radio so I've started a new thread including a request for new links to new radio's
The new forum post is:

and the radio links that are dead that work for the gt-i9020a are:

Hi Guys,
im a pretty techy guy (programmer myself) but know little about phone software and linux. I recently installed a custom rom. And throughout the reading process to root and flash roms the word "Radios" came up a fair amount of times without any real explaination about them
Can someone tell me more about them. Are they a Kernal for linux that sits below the O/S? Or is it more to do with a form of bios?
Are radios shared across different phones or just specifc to one device?
Is there different radios or simply updated ones? and if updated is it best to always go for the more recent?
Thanks guys
Radios as far as I am aware contain the modem software for your phone, they are device dependent, although technically if two different devices had the same chipset you may be able re-program it if you had the knowledge. They updated to fix signal issues GPS issues etc
so the best thing is to have the most up to date from this (link removed due to being new member but its a link to the radios thread) thread?
and how is it updated? flash it like u do with a rom?
Please for HTC's sake, your own health and other members stress levels MAKE SURE ITS FOR YOUR VERSION OF HERO for example use CDMA if you own CDMA, GSM for GSM otherwise you will end up with a Hero brick and will therefoe be starting a post called somthing like PLEASE HELP I THINK I BRICKED MY HERO!
Flash through recovery if its update.zip and through fastboot for radio.img
About 4 months ago I installed a Rom to my girlfriends vibrant and it has been AWESOME compared to the stock touchwiz and compared to any of the roms I ever installed(tried all of them) for my HD2 and the few roms I have tried on my new-to-me Fascinate. The ROM just feels so cushy smooth, scrolling, resizing ect touch commands are almost iPhone-like and the stock UI has perfect icons, colors ect. I just can't say enough good things about this phone now.
I lost the original thread I got the rom from. The build shows "Simply Honey 3.5 Revolution by SGT" but I believe it's been ported from the i9000 as I had to flash a i9000 bootloader that I assume has been modified for the vibrant.
Is there any way I can get this rom onto my Fascinate? It seems hard to believe others aren't aware of this rom but a search for "simply honey" in the fascinate section and sub sections has returns zero results.
If you don't see it in the Dev forum, it's not available for the Fascinate.
The hardware on the SGS line is different enough (particularly between GSM and CDMA variants) among carriers that flashing a ROM from a different carrier is a fast track to bricksville.
Your best bet, if you REALLY want a particular ROM is to get the sources from the developer of that ROM and start working on your own version (porting it, as it were), or convince the dev to start working on a Fascinate version of it.
Also: Never ever ever flash a GSM ROM onto a CDMA phone. If it works at all, you'll be flashing all the way back to DL09 (and probably repartitioning, as well) to get back to square one.

As I said, it's not mentioned in any of the sub forums according to the search and nowhere on my google search either so I realize it's probably not available but I posted hoping someone would post with information directly relating to experience with the ROM and maybe developer inside info or information to another ROM with similar refinement.
This goes out to any and all coders / dev's for android or anyone else who may have a clue . I have stepped into the world of developing roms for the android platform as I "program" as a hooby (java, html, flash, etc ) i have designed a rom based on ics for the galaxy s2 everything seemed to work find once i flashed to my phone all apps worked aside from a couple of force close the install went smooth as silk but for some reason it relocked my sim card. The phone is a galaxy s2 I777 from AT&T unlocked being used on tmobile i have built and rebuilt the rom trying different kernels/aosp / stock etc it does not seem to matter it always relocks the simcard. I have searched high and low to try and find an answer if anyone knows what i may be doing wrong or at least point me in a direction I could look o would be greatful. i would really like to release this rom but without getting rid of that bug i fear i will never release it.
Hi, sorry for my bad English. It was transalte with the Google Translater.
My problem is that since I installed ViperX + 1.0.3 my Sim card is perhaps as 3 -4 times a day no longer recognized.
3 - 4 Times a day i must type my Pin an the for 2-4 hours it runs perfect.
Previously I had installed InsertCoin and had no problems.
Maybe someone has an idea what it could be?
Can i flash the boot.img from the InsertCoin rls for the ViperX+ ROM ?
Greetings
Basti
Try re-flashing the rom it sounds like a bad flash. I have been using the rom since day 1 and have had no issues with sim card at all. Also you could try another rom for a day and see how you get on. Another solution is to try re-flashing the kernel and see if that helps.
AW: ViperX+ 1.03 INT - No Sim Card found...
i have flash the elite 2 kernel again but the same problem.
anyone have the problem or any tips?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
I've already read about this issue in a german board; this can also be a hardware issue, because the users there report they got this problem also on other ROMs and reflashing ROM or kernel didn't change anything for them.
So you should try to flash a different ROM and look if you still have this problem. If yes, I suggest you to take your phone back and get a new one or send your phone to an authorised repair centre, because then this must be a hardware issue.
BTW: tripl3b are you german? your english sounds like this sorry
so maybe check out the thread @ the german board: http://www.android-hilfe.de/htc-one...karte-wird-ploetzlich-nicht-mehr-erkannt.html
but I don't know if they got a solution for your problem there...
Agreed, the best thing to do is to re-lock your bootloader. Then flash your stock rom. If you are still having problems at that stage it is more than likely hardware which they should fix for you under warranty even if you have unlocked your bootloader.
If you have a different sim card try that as well. It could be the contacts on your sim card are damaged etc.
@dubdroid_ yes iam german
i have check the thread from the german board, but they have no solution at the moment
Before i installed the ViperX+ Rom, i have installed the InsertCoin Rom and they run without any Problems.
U think i can use the boot.img from the InsertCoin ROM or ist this a Problem for the Viper rom ?
You should be able to as far as I know they are based on the same rom version.
ok, i try it.
thx for ur help
no success
when i flash the boot.img from the InsertCoin rom, i have no WLAN or Provider Signal
ok, now i have flash the stock kernel an it runs since 3 days without any problems.
anyone knows why i cant use the elite or elite 2 kernel ?
I might throw my own two cents into this thread. My wife and I both have this same phone and we experience this no-sim card problem ALL THE TIME.
Specs:
Phone1: ATT HTC OneX+
Elegancia ROM
Stock kernal
Rooted (obviously)
Phone2: ATT HTC ONeX+
Stock everything, factory new
I find that this might be an ATT problem and not an HTC problem. Here is my evidence.
I have noticed this problem only happens when I am in my home town area (Salt Lake, UT) where ATT is rolling out their LTE network. I live in an area that is mostly 4G, on occasion I get a very very weak LTE signal. I think the network is dropping these phones when the phone switches between 4G and LTE. If I go to an area of solid LTE coverage this problem does not happen at all. I am out of town in San Francisco each week and this problem never happens in that area, only in SLC. The quick fix is to cycle airplane mode and the phone comes back to life.
Any thoughts anybody?
First of all this is my first post. Hello to everyone. I have been searching/reading thru these forums. Great source of info.
Phone info:
Currently S-OFF, unlocked, lateset AT&T 4.4.2 firmware, viperone 6.2.1, twrp
I have a pretty good comprehension of how to install or revert pretty much anything that can be done to this phone and have done so with great success. What I don't understand is the relationship between the firmware base of an RUU and the build of any given ROM. How is it that a custom Rom based off let's say x.xx.401.x work with x.xx.502.x main version? The devs say to update to the most current available firmware. Does that mean I have to flash a firmware base that matches what the Rom base for optimal performance? Because I originally thought that was the case and when I did my phone developed syncing issues particularly with the stock mail and weather apps. They would only sync over WiFi. Everything else about the phone worked as normal. Believing there was a problem with the Rom I flashed a few different popular roms on here. Always returning to full AT&T stock first. I later fully converted to GPE and to my surprise everything worked as normal. So I then converted to stock developer edition by way of zip flash and RUU exe. (By the way, when I say stock I mean s-off & unlocked but otherwise factory.) Received all the ota's. Main version would show as x.xx.1540.x. supposedly this would make my phone a dev edition with AT&T as the provider. And yet the syncing problems returned. So once again I returned back to factory AT&T 4.4.2 and all returned to normal. I then decided to try and use a Rom based off 4.4.2 and not one from 4.4.3; expecting the syncing issues to return only this time they didn't. So now I am really confused.
My questions are:
If coming from 4.4.2 factory firmware, is it best to run a Rom from the same base or am I doing something wrong and I should be able to use a Rom from a newer base on an older firmware?
If the developer edition and GPE can be carried by AT&T then why was I having syncing issues with the developer edition and not GPE?
I thought by being s-off I should be able to flash any RUU from any carrier without problems, just that I would be limited to the network capabilities of the actual service provider.
Everything I know about this stuff I learned from this forum. But I think I missed something.
My AT&T M7 always works best on the stock software.
The only thing I could figure is that AT&T have refined the software and radio so well that all the other versions pale in comparison.
I noticed the Developers Edition always had a horrible Bluetooth and WiFi radio. Signal strength was always weak compared to the stock AT&T software.
To answer your questions
Flash any version Roms you want on the latest AT&T firmware. And you'll have the best your phone can be.

I get so mixed up with all the terms being used interchangeably. So to clarify, as long as I am using the latest firmware from AT&T (currently 5.12.502.2 kk4.4.2), I can flash any custom ROM base. Whether it is based on 4.4.2 or higher. Correct?
I still want to know why I experienced the sync problems while running the factory x.xx.1540.x dev edition but not with the GPE. I never tried the factory x.xx.401.x WWE firmware either. However, I just got an sim unlock code from AT&T earlier today. I'm gonna try that maybe tomorrow and see if it makes a difference altho I don't believe it should. And I'm not gonna switch to a different provider.
Honestly, I was happy with my phone before I got wrapped up in all of this. I just decided to tinker with the phone and the mod bug has bitten.

I think I figured this out. I continued to flash different ROMs and firmwares with the same results as I posted in the OP. Then earlier tonight I decided to try to convert to developer edition again (x.xx.1540.x) and flashed an ruu.zip, went thru the setup process, and as before the same issues returned. Then I had an idea; lets try something I haven't done yet. I pulled the SD card and factory reset the phone. After I completed the basic setup process I inserted the SD card and let the phone do its thing. The phone now works as it should (same as it does with the AT&T xx.502.x firmware installed).
Just figured I would pass this along.
Cheers
I give up
I thought I had this figured out. Last night after to converting to dev edition with all updates, everything seemed normal. I flashed the latest viperone rom as it is the rom I want. Turn the phone on this morning and the sync problems are present once again. I have searched thru a tom of pages on this sight alone. I cant find an answer. So its back to stock at&t.
I solved the problem. Incorrect settings in 4636 menu.
