[Q] Dual touch for xperia x10 mini.. - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

I'm currently and desperately trying to make Dual touch work on my xperia x10 mini.. I'm using nobodyatall's mincm7 2.2 and kernel nAa-11..
i did try to edit the hw_config.sh but i don't know if I'm doing it right..
i did open the hw_config.sh and try to do this:
Dualtouch:
If you want to enable the fake DT by dx (instead of andrej456's which is the default), you have to insert the following line in the /system/etc/hw_config.sh file:
insmod /system/lib/modules/synaptics_i2c_rmi4_dt.ko
the thing is i don't know if i did it right..
what i did is i put a # Dx at the beginning and the put this below:
insmod /system/lib/modules/synaptics_i2c_rmi4_dt.ko
what did i do wrong? pls help.. or put a short instruction on how to this right.. tnx in advance..

Looks like you did nothing wrong.
Restart your phone, go into your gallery, select a picture and try pinch-to-zoom.
Normal zoom in pictures is a double-tap.

My dual touch works great and I did nothing. I've just installed the rom.
Double tap to zoom works perfectly, also.

Actually, I thought the dualtouch are also available to games. I used dualtouch when playing cut the rope and fruit ninja...
What are the difference ?

x10 screen sensitivity problems

This may have been asked before but when i tried to search it said "Search is disabled for 10 minutes..." ... so heres the question
Compared to my samsung galaxy s i9000 the SE X10i screen sensativity to finger touches is really not that great.
I realize the screens are different but one fact remains -- they are both capacitive. On GSM Arena the specifications list the X10 as TFT capacitive touchscreen and while the GalaxyS as having Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen.
Fine. so moving on. the problem is when it comes to gaming and some applications. i find myself with my X10 having to really put some pressure to get a reaction from the device ....
i was playing Armored strike yesterday and even the chat box in the left hand corner of the screen is hardly press-able. i have to literary put lots of pressure and try all sorts of finger positions to get a reaction.
Owning a WM-HD2 before i have seen many utilities out there that tweak settings like this so the question stands... is there a way to tweak the sensitivity on android and especially on our X10s??
Do you still have the screenprotector on the device that came with it?

oops i forgot to add that to my original post.
no i removed the protector from the phone. its now "naked".
Both of mine are extremely sensitive. Are you sure yours is not defective mate?

Why don't you try adding this line
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=26
To your build.prop it has increase the responsiveness of my screen a lot... Just go to /system using Root Explorer and mount as r/w, open your build.prop with text editor and add that command to the bottom. Reboot your phone...
cheers

i cant really say. i live in baghdad and this unit was brought from europe. it first had a vodafone firmware on it until i got rid of it and made it normal.
i can only compare it to the SamsungGalaxyS.
@3dawg
I'll try that and report.
Thanks

Because numbers above 33 increase the latency. 26 seems to be the optimal value for low latency and good sensitivity.

Which part of the build.prop should I add? anywhere?
ok so i did all that and it made a somewhat negligible difference ... the sensitivity is still not as great as the SGS. on the SGS i can hover my finger a full 1cm away and it detects it. on the X10 i have to apply pressure 2x more.
about the windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec
This defines the max event window manager;
yet this ONLY afect Scrolling through the app drawer and contacts and any lists but the fact is i`ve put 200 and GOSH!!! it is quick!!!

Appearantly it doesn't need that?
i m working on keyboard!
Edit: i think that's pretty simple!
i think in both build you put d default keychars as for CM7 legend and for CM6 hero! replace that with mimmi_keypad.kcm.bin in the dafult build of SE in /system/usr/keychars/
and maybe this build's keyboard not working coz u didn't put the systemconnector.kcm.bin in same folder..!! providing both files let me know if they work as i dnt hav cell i can't test!

[Q] About dualtouch in X10 mini pro

I know that there are 2 kinds of mini pros.
I would like to know if what i expeirience is normal, or should i switch to other DT module?
Sometimes when i zoom in pictures or maps, it zooms all the way in. I get random max or large zoom-ins when i use pinch zoom. Or when i zoom out, it jumps from 1 spot to another...
It's functional, but not 100% without bugs. Is this "normal" or this is why other people switch to the other module?
I have froyocomb 1.4, but i had this problem in cyanocomb too.

New Pinch Zoom Module - Near Perfect for x8, X10mini Synaptics

Hey Guys,
Here is a new x8 gesture module for pinch zooming in SE X8 & X10mini.
This module works likely real dual touch & it response very quickly.
New in this module:
1. Much sensitive even can recognize little finger contact
2. Can be used in multitouch supported game
3. Supports all app with pinch zooming features
4. More correct pinch zoom than any other x8gesture modules
Installation:
Installation is same as previous x8gesture installation
- Remount /system as rw
- Copy the attached x8gesture.ko below to /system/lib/modules
- Change hw_config.sh in your /system/etc, add this code at the beginning
insmod /system/lib/modules/x8gesture.ko #dx: add gestures
- Push modified hw_config.sh back to your phone, reboot
** This is not real dual touch
** Use multi touch visualizer to calibrate & check the correctness
** It can not recognize more than two finger
I wish someone will make an update.zip for this module.
Don't forget to say thanks if it is useful for for you
Also, Sorry for my horrible English
Already testing.. thanks

Okey. Here is the trick:
Any root explorer>------>Mount system as RW>------>Open the SYSTEM folder>------>Then open "usr" folder>----->And then open the "idc" Folder>---->In the folder there is 4 files with .idc extension, Backup "synaptics_touchpad.idc" And then delete the "synaptics_touchpad.idc" file from your system.
Forgot to Backup? Flash the Attachment in cwm WHEN you dont want to use the "Mouse" anymore.

After I do this, will i still be able to use touchpads normally in games like in Asphalt or such? I am asking this as you are on the ICS Beta aswell. And what negative effects does this have?

Trying to figure this out... But im working on a Kernel too and i have school so it's not so easy to keep up.
Am I the only one who likes this mod?
I just tried it again and its so cool. It Helps me press the little buttons that are hard to click on with your finger (like the full screen on videos)
try changing synaptics_touchpad.idc to match the following instead of deleting it.
you may also need to change the 0 to 1
touch.deviceType = pointer
touch.orientationAware = 0
touch.gestureMode = pointer
or for the spots try this
touch.deviceType = pointer
touch.orientationAware = 0
touch.gestureMode = spots
I like it too but I think it needs to have some sort of a toggle, that maybe can be bound to the select button or a switch widget.
does not work for me i am on ka12 with DooMKernel

An app (or better yet,a widget) could be made in order to tweak those settings. However, that would require root permissions.
