Yahoo mail exchange activesync settings - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good morning all,
I am looking to setup my yahoo mail via active sync again but after lots of research I cannot seem to be able to find the server name required. For example hotmail is m.hotmail.com
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Jr

Are you 100% sure Yahoo are using Microsoft Exchange I would have thought their use something like pop3 or IMAP?

Well i had the others set that way and had a feeling yahoo was too

Yahoo does not use the activesync protocol. Instead, use its imap settings.
Alternatively, you can download the Yahoo app for push mail and contact integration.

does this program do auto sync with exchange and gmail, and if yes, how do i set it yes (its not on the list of folder poll check frequnncy)
thanks for the help.
if anyone can think of an email client that can auto sync gmail and exchange, and has a desktop widget that works with it, please share
thank you
Does not do exchange ActiveSync. This would be the holy grail of email apps if it did ActiveSync.

IMAP has Push and Poll, POP only has Poll, not sure about Exchange. K9 does exchange, I assume if there's no options it defaults to Push but you might ask them in their own forums.
Widget, no..
Hello guys,
I installed K9 on my Android ICS on i9100, setup an Yahoo account and didn't found any way to make it Push my email, on Pull/poll at specified intervals (1, 5 ,10min, etc).
I'm looking under Account Settings/Fetching email and the only setting related is "Folder poll frequency".
Am I doing something wrong because the k9 Market page says "K-9 Mail is an open-source e-mail client with search, IMAP push email, multi-folder sync, flagging, filing, signatures, bcc-self, PGP, mail on SD & more!"
My yahoo account has an IMAP server setup, not POP so we can exclude this incompatibility.
As a default behavior, k9 only doesn't have a polling interval setup, I have to manually check for new email.
So, does Push email works on k9 email client?
I've had IMAP push working on K9, although not with a Yahoo email account.
IMAP Push relies on the IMAP server you connect to support the IDLE extension. AOL Mail does, gmail does, but Yahoo does not.

[Q] Email Configuration allover the place -PLEASE HELP !

Good Morning,
I currently have several email accounts set up with K9 email but I seem to have a bit of an issue here and there.
I have;
Two Hotmail accounts ; I am receiving emails that come to the Hotmail addresses into both my hotmail account AND into the K9 accounts on my droid. NO ISSUES.
then
One Gmail account which is my business email. I have my @gmail.com configured to forward to my @.customdomain.com. I am receiving all emails sent by people to my K9 account on my Droid but it does not arrive into my outlook . When I send an email to my @custom.domain.com account from my own outlook package, it does arrive back in my outlook inbox . So gmail seems to be routing my own outlook mail ok but not anything coming from third parties via gmail.
I am guessing it is a simple setting but where ? I have all the "delete from server" etc UNCHECKED in the account settings ....
Can anyone shed a light with what info I have given >??
thanks very much
Ok may be when k9 gets updated it sets email as already poped or read to your domain that's why outlook doesn't retrieve them. But when you send them through outlook may be due to internal routing it comes to your inbox and not through server. Try this deconfigure your k9 and see if it pops in outlook or set outlook to retrieve all mail read unread deleted poped. I don't know how.

[Q] Microsoft Exchange vs POP3 vs IMAP

HI,
i am using htc SXL and wondering which one of the above is the best (quick) one to receive emails? (push email).
thanks,
You can google the differences between POP3 and IMAP.
Basically POP3 will delete messages from the server once they are downloaded to your device where as IMAP will keep them on the server but mark them read. Only if you delete them youself will they be removed from the server. So if you also read your email on another computer/device and want to see all your messages new and old, IMAP is the better choice.
Exchange works similar to IMAP as far as mail goes but also allows you to sync calendars as well. I use a calendar for work in Outlook via an Exchange server and it syncs nicely with the Android calendar app.

Gmail via Exchange Activesync Help

I'd like to use my gmail account connected via exchange activesync. I set that up with various email apps and it works nicely.
The only problem is that I don't use my gmail address as my known email address. I have an alias that points to gmail. When I email people, I want that alias to show as the email and reply to addresses.
When I have everything set up via IMAP/SMTP, I'm able to do that with K9.
Unfortunately, when connected via the Activesync way and I send mail, it always shows my gmail address to the recipient.
Is there any way/app that would allow me to do what I want?
I do have my alias set up as a send mail as option in the gmail web interface.

Bump. I've tried a bunch of different apps. Looks to me that when you use activesync, Google hardcodes your Gmail address as the From address.
If anyone finds anything different, please share.
Back to Gmail's broken implementation of imap. Maybe one day they'll start to push read flags.

Stock email app problem displaying Hotmail emails

Hello, I am using the stock email app on the MT2L03 configured for Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo and Exchange mail boxes. I noticed that any graphics / pictures in Hotmail emails body copies are only showing up as web URL.
However, emails from all the other mail services display correctly
So if I forward an email from Hotmail to Gmail and read it on the stock client, it displays perfectly.
I tried to get help from the helpline but they asked me to speak to Microsoft for a resolution!
I have tried both m.hotmail.com and s.outlook.com as the mail server config with no luck.
The mate 2 email client is a mess
You might want to forget about the stock email client and go with an all gmail solution, seems to work well for me :
Download the gmail and exchange apks from Android police (since I can't post links google: Gmail 5.0 With Exchange Support And Material Design Has Landed)
Either disable your stock email client or remove
Open gmail
Setup a new account, choose exchange as the type.
Setup the account like you would on the stock client.
The exchange sync seems to work for me.
If you want something easier and nice, get the mailwise app (again, can't post a link) from play (just know you can'tadd or update contacts). .
