Hello,
I recently flashed Winsuk's CM9 to my Aria, which had been running CM7 without a hitch for months, and I've been having the common problem of bootloops at the HTC screen when trying to install any of these gapps ICS packages. This forum (in which I'm not allowed to post) suggested updating to the HTC Froyo RUU firmware from here and then re-installing CM9 and gapps. This seems to have worked for the posters here. I however have been unable to get my phone, currently running Winsuk's CM9, to prompt me to connect to HTC Sync when I connect the USB to try and do the HTC official Froyo update. I'll try going back to CM7 and trying again. Does anyone have experience with installing official updates when running a custom ROM? The user who successfully did it was dust906. Any tips much appreciated.

Put your phone in FASTBOOT mode. (While USB cable is disconnected, turn phone completely off, then hold trackball button while pressing power button. After it comes back up and says FASTBOOT on the screen, let go of trackball button and plug USB cable back in.) It doesn't matter what ROM you have installed, your computer should be able to detect the phone while the phone is at the FASTBOOT screen and start the official Froyo update process.
Want to install Google Chrome Browser on HTC Aria with CM9 ICS
Hello all,
Today only I have updated my HTC Aria phone with Munjeni's ICS ROM and the gapps. The phone is working great. I thank him for his efforts. However, for one of my experiments, I wanted to install Google Chrome Browser, which is compatible for Android 4.0 and onwards. My basic aim is to check webaudio apis which is working fine in Google Chrome Browser Desktop version 19.0.xxxx. But the same are not working on the existing browser on this android 4.0.4. So I wanted to download Google Chrome Browser for Android Beta on this CM9 image. The android Market (Play Store) says, my phone is not compatible for this Browser application.
Any clue on this subject from the experts?
Thanks
Google Chrome requires an ARMv7 or better CPU, which the Aria unfortunately does not have.

My girlfriend's phone was rooted with stock ROM and she allowed it to update. It bricked to the black screen. I fixed it by pushing Bionix 1.9 via adb and installing with clockwork recovery. The problem is now that when playing music (either through music player or pandora) it freezes to a black screen and reboots after several minutes. Any Ideas???
I am planning on restoring to stock with OLIN and putting a custom ROM on at some point to see if it resolves.
Is there anyway to rule out a hardware issue, or do you all think it is related to the update?
Is there anyway to install the old audio drivers, assuming that the update had new drivers (or what ever the Linux driver equivalent is)?
Thanks
Andrew
Can't say for sure that this will work, but might do the trick.....

Well I heard that android 2.2 was available with froydvillian ect, so i decided to update to that, i followed the steps of installing villainrom first which was successful.
I then went onto installing froydvillain 1.5 the same way but was unsuccessful on many times (just got stuck on the hero screen).
I then decided that I'd just stick with the orange firmware so used the update on the PC get android 1.5 on.
I then was going to update the 2.1 but could get the usb to work, and it wouldn't mount to the pc. I then downloaded the update through mobile web and it installed.
Now my problems are that i cant download from android market.. "Download unsuccessful", aswell as not bieng able to sign into facebook ect.. I am signed into google. I have factory rest the phone to no luck, and cannot reinstall the firmware from the pc as im getting the usb error.
Help please?
New error, my phone says its got 50% bettery, the update on the pc says its got less than 30%.
I believe it has nothing to do with the ROMs. Me, as well as 3 or 4 of my other friends have the same problems today with the Market, some of them use the stock and others, including me, custom ROMs. I guess Google's doing some maintenance or something... I don't know why Facebook doesn't work, though.
its google issue
i have the same problem, but its good to know that its a google problem...i was a little panik rightnow cos i just flashed a new rom =)
I used qdl to upgrade my streak from 1.6 to 2.2. 2.2 but I often can't get out of "sleep mode". I press the power button and swipe the unlock and usually nothing happens (no buzz and no movement of the bar). Once I couldn't even power it down as holding the power button brough up the correct prompt but the screen was unresponsive. I had to remove the battery.
Is there some sort of resolution to this issue? My touch screen works fine once I've got the phone "awake".
Did you perform the OTA upgrade to v.318 of 2.2. after the QDL?
Forgive me but I'm not sure what you're asking but perhaps this will help you answer your question. I used the tutorial at this link:

OK.
The very last screen says success. From here you can upgrade to an official build, or one of the ROM's by DJ_Steve on Streakdroid.com.
If all you did was that tutorial, you are at build 308, which is unstable. You need to do the official upgrade to build 318, which is the upgrade you were waiting to do when you were waiting for Dell/AT&T when you were still on ver 1.6. You can now do that upgrade. Or you can continue on the the latest ROM upgrade courtesy of DJ_Steve.
From this page at streakdroid.com:
Using QDLTool will get you to a pre-release of v2.2. From here, you’ll want to upgrade to a newer release. The two options that people tend to choose from are to either go up to the official v2.2 ROM from Dell, or install DJ_Steve’s latest ROM.
Official ROM
If you want to go to the latest official ROM from Dell, simply set up your wifi connection, then go to http://mobileupdate.dell.com/PackageProductionLocations/Streak_318_12821_00.pkg in the browser on the phone. You should be able to download and run to install the update.

To install the 318 build which fixes bugs in the build that QDLTool installs:
connect to a wifi network if you can
download the update directly to your phone from the link above
open the notification bar and select the download complete notification
you will be prompted to install the update
This method preserves your accounts and settings.
Hey Guys,
Just flashed to 2.3.4 and the pie crust rom. Thanks to all your amazing guides, everything went perfectly.
The only problem is, (besides titanium backup not backing up any of my sms's) that whenever I TRY to select Motorola Phone Portal, it works for a second, then switches back to USB Mass Storage.
Is this a known bug? I would have posted in the Pie Crust rom thread, but I cant since I just created this account.
Thanks for all your help guys!
I am having the same problem with Alien 4 and Crust as well. Putting on Fruitcakes stock stock 2.3.4 to see if that fixes the problem. I like having access to my phone through browser but it's not working on most of the ROMs.
After having no luck with either of the roms, I installed R9 Rom. After installation I gave it around 10 minutes after skipping blur setup to settle down. Once all done, I set mode to Phone Portal and within 2 seconds it was back to USB Storage.
I waited for a minute and click on Phone Portal again and it worked.
It's been on Phone Portal for almost 5 minutes now.
Can anyone else try this on other roms.
1. Click on Motorola Phone Portal (First Option when you connect USB)
2. Try to access through browser and see if it changes to USB mode.
3. Try clicking first option again in a minute and see if it stays in that mode?
Thank you
P.S. I don't want to offend anyone or hate on any ROMs but I should have tested other ROMs thoroughly  Can someone please verify if this method works on other ROMs?
Alien v4
No problems with Motorola Phone Portal here though I don't usually use it much.
So about 3 mouths ago I flashed a new rom. Namly this one.

The Sense ReVoluTioN version.
Only problem now (I have been looking and can not find anything like this problem.) is that if I reboot my phone the wifi will not turn on and just says error.
I then have to flash the boot again to get it to work.
Also if I turn on mobile internet for longer then 10 seconds it roobots, then again I have to flash the boot to get wifi available again, (very annoying when not near my computer.)
I.m running the 3.1 version of Sense ReVoluTioN.
Any help would be awesome!
Weather it is "just do this and it will work" or "get this rom instead it is more stable" I would be very great-full and give you a internet.
