Re: CM9 and AOKP
Is anyone else having problems with call echo on these recent builds? I LOVE the customization of them and would like to use them as DDs, but every time I'm on a phone call, the person on the other end of the call can hear themselves talk. This does not happen with any of the other numerous Note ROMs I've tried, and I have yet to see it mentioned in the Dev forum.
I've done full wipes before installing, and have tried all of the different modems, but that darn echo still persists.
If you've encountered this and found a fix, please let me know!
Thanks
Edit: errr, sorry if this belongs in Q&A

Are you happen to be using a volume booster of some sort such as volume+. If not give that a try, people have been saying that has fixed some of there sound issues on these roms.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I have not tried volume+ yet because I was under the impression it was helping people with low volume, not to fix echo issues. I just think possibly a lot of people are having this problem, but they just don't know it yet because no one has told them.
Flash the Inspire mod?

Not sure I know enough about all of this to go blindly flashing something for a different phone, but maybe later in the day if it feels like I'm alone on this issue I'll give it a try

I was kidding. No harm meant. It was asked all the time in both the DHD/Inspire threads, so I figured I'd try to be funny.

Ah, gotcha
I am also being told of the echo problem during calls. I haven't found a fix for it yet either.
Go another route until they straighten it out. You wont hurt any feelings because no one has to know what rom youre using and if they do, so what...
It is in the infancy stages(AND WITHOUT OFFICIAL KERNEL), once we get files we need, alot of development advances WILL come... Patience grasshopper.
EDIT: and it does belong in Q&A.
Yea I definitely understand and appreciate the infancy of these builds. It's just that it isn't stated in any "known issues/bugs" on any OP (last I checked), and I feel this is far more important to be known issue than "instagram doesn't work". But due to my post count I cannot ask this in the development section.
Thank you very much for the replies, at least I know it isn't something I did wrong.
And THANK YOU VERY MUCH to all of our hard working devs!
Now that you have mentioned it, I also experienced echo while calling. Im using cm9 rom btw. I did not know it was a built related issue. Hope there will be a fix for it soon. Thanks for pointing it out.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Sure, I just hope it gets mentioned in the dev section for CM9/Juggernaut, to let them know it's occurring! Can't fix something if you don't know about it.
Also, I'm glad it's not just me experiencing this - I had my flame-proof jacket on just in case
I'm not having any problems like that. Did you follow the directions for install exactly?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
Wow that's so strange. Yes, I followed the instructions exactly, not new to flashing. Even tried flashing FJ's ROM first and let it finish booting and setting up, then CM9 (doing a factory reset after the CM9 flash, as per the instructions), still the problem persists.
After CM9 boots up for the first time, I let it sit for a bit (5+ mins), then come back to it and enter my Google account info at the initial wizard. After letting it sit for a while more (another 5+ mins), I try a call, and the echo is there (on the other party's side). So there are no app restorations or installations going on on my end before placing the call.
Every other part of these ROMs are fantastic, and I get no FC's or any other oddities. Just wish I could resolve this so I can use them. But as Tylerdurdan said, maybe I just have to wait until more source stuff is released.
Thanks for all the feedback
I had serious echo problems yesterday when I tried to talk to someone on speaker. I am currently on the CM9 rom.
I get the echo regardless if I'm on speaker or just normal phone use. Also happens with headphones (earbuds). Anyways, gonna run this by the pros in Dev

Been trying the XXLPH ICS rom after lots of people on the SKy Go thread stated it was boss! And I must say I am quite impressed.
But... The phone keeps going into a massively deep sleep from which I don't seem to be able to wake it. It necessitates me taking out the battery and then rebooting the phone. I am certain I must be doing something wrong but b**red if I can work out what.
Tried a search but couldn't find an answer and I wondered if one of the wise heads here on XDA oculd help me out!
Thanks in advance!
Using the Nova paid launcher if that is any help.
You using setcpu/voltage control/cpu control by any chance. I got the same problem when I was using them. Uninstalling the apps did the trick

No nothing like that. Literally only just installed the ROM just trying to sort spotify and that out. The phone is on, I can call it and it rings (though the phone doesn't react as if it is ringing) It just seems there is nothing I can do to wake it up.
Annoying.
I have read that using the LP6 modem might help? This true?
Worth a try but you are using a leaked beta test rom bugs are normal .

Indeed! I had put off trying one but had heard so many people here saying it was good enough for day to day use. Oh well.
I think I will nandroid restore my CM7 build and wait for an official ROM.

Which is, I presume why Samsung allow these leaks to happen. A bit of a mass beta testing with (mostly) technically literate types who can bug solve!
Wish I was counted amongst the tech literate types, but alas I am not!
After upgrading to ICS I have been having some issues with my phone; Bluetooth needs to be cleared of data each time I want to pair a device, ringers and alerts don't sound, and the most recent and debilitating- the phone restarted twice by itself and now the sleep/wake button is unresponsive. Has anyone else experienced these issues? I've done factory resets once or twice since upgrading to ICS and it's really getting on my nerves.
-is it time to call it quits and just bring the phone to a service center?
-any insight into rolling back to gingerbread (on a Mac preferably)
Thanks guys!
Sorry to be "the jerk" post, but there are tons of threads out right now about problems on att's ics rom. And in the stickies is a good start to figuring out how to "roll back" to gingerbread. I've found that if you search and do the work yourself, how to do it will be 100x easier when u run into a future problem. Good luck man.

Not to mention the fact that he factory reset the phone with stock kernel installed. Which has been known to completely hard brick our devices (its referred to as the emmc bug) make sure yo read folks! We don't want hard bricks on our hands

I know a TON of people are having issues with the IcS update though. I'd love to roll back the phone, but I'm nervous my phone will get bricked in the process....the official update did that and I was without a phone for a day or two until I magically got it to work. This it total BS.

Hello everyone, I've posted a thread like this before, but this one's a little different. I have a major issue. It may not be major to others, but its a big deal for me. Let me explain my situation. I feel imprisoned. I want the freedom to run whatever rom that i want on my phone. But the only rom i can run perfectly is Shostock2. It's an amazing rom, with a few tweaks and mods here and there, its the best rom ive ever used. But as an Android user and flashaholic, I want to try out different roms as my daily driver. But EVERY SINGLE rom I've tried has had one infuriating problem, the headphone volume is way too loud on the lowest level. This problem, however, has taught me how to do many things. I've learned how to decompile apks and jars, deodex and odex apks and jars, and edit smali. By learning all this ive tried to fix the problem by myself. I've tried to increase the volume steps from 15 to 30, but i had issues with that since the volume mutes at 16. I've tried running AOSP roms with Fluxxi kernel and used xxTweaker to decrease the volume level, that works for AOSP but i want to run a Samsung rom. So here is where i ask for help, does anyone know enough about the Android system to tell me which file deals with volume control? Or does anyone have a solution to this problem at all? I've tried looking for files that might deal with volume control but the only thing i've found is "AudioService.smali". Which is what i edited to get more than 15 volume steps. I really need some help guys, my poor ears can't put up with loud music. Right now I'm exploring everything in ShoStock2 to find out why the volume control is perfect in that rom and not in any other rom.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Well this sucks, maybe it's just my phone or something. Guess im stuck with Shostock2, which isnt a bad thing since its the best rom ever. I guess i'll try to fix the problem on my own. Thanks guys

Sorry for the late reply. School has started now. But to answer your questions, this problem is with corded headphones, and the volume is loud while listening to music, watching videos, or basically any sound that is playing through the headphones. This problem occurs with all the new roms that ive tried except for Shostock2. This is the longest time ive ever had to stay with one rom. This problem didn't happen on a few roms such as Phone-Bricker and the older AOKP roms.
I installed CM10 on my Droid X2 and I just couldn't get past the screen sensitivity -- everything was jumpy to the point where the phone wasn't usable. Is this something others have noticed, too? Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity?

Yeah, way too sensitive. Damn, maybe it's just my Droid X2. I'd scroll up an down and it was just super sensitive, moving up and down at the slightest touch.

Also -- the screen seemed to flicker way more. I think some of it was intentional (the screen dimming and brightening). As much as I liked the look, I went back to CM7.
I haven't noticed any screen flicker, or too sensitive touch
It has seemed less sensitive, to me
You are not the only one. Had same thing on my DX2. It happened 4-5 times.
I just kept trying to get "power off / reboot" screen and reboot. After reboot everything was good.
Also had faster battery drain, purchased a 3600mAh and it would almost last 10 hours on CM10.
Two days ago went back to CM7, battery will last 14-16 hours with same usage.
Going to wait for next CM10 release to try again.

You guys need to understand that this ROM will never be perfect. Even the next update will have issues.
Understand, also understand ANY ROM can have issues, including Vz ROMs.
It's about what works for each person, in this case I am waiting for the next release, please don't get defensive because we had issues. They happened, no big deal, we have made decisions to move back to CM7.
I happen to think DZK has done a great job with CM10 and I will be moving back.

Oh I'm not being defensive. Sorry to come off that way. I just see that you guys are newcomers to the forums. A lot of newcomers have been posting about issues not understanding that our Droid X2 is not like other phones that get custom ROMs. Our CM10 is not really complete and most likely never will be because motorola hates us and doesnt want to unlock our bootloaders. If you guys are new to the DX2, I didnt want you expecting a full featured bugless ROM like, lets say the Galaxy Nexus would get. Even though its CM10, we are running it on a Gingerbread Kernel which will always cause issues. That, along with not being able to change or update the drivers doesnt help. Thats why I said even the next update will most likely have the same issues. Most of us just chose to deal with them.

I wasn't aware of the Motorola situation when I purchased the DX2, but quickly found out. I came from the Samsung world (Fascinate) as my last device and it seemed custom ROM's were very easy. With the DX2 it has been anything but easy. But for now really happy with the device overall and the CM10 ROM will make it great. The primary reason for my move back to CM7 was a call issue that seems to be well documented. If it isn't corrected with the new version of CM10 I will make adjustments and stick with it. Also the DX2 community here on XDA is great.
I haven't had the any call issues, but I make/receive very few calls
mostly texts and emails

Hey there -- just wanted to also say that I hope I wasn't coming off as a complainer (which probably meant I was!). I'm totally and absolutely grateful for all of dragonkiller's work on porting CM. I HATED my Droid X2 with BLUR -- and it has been a great joy to use since I switched to CM7.2.
I do wonder, though, that Jellybean requires a more powerful processor? CM10, outside of the sensitivity issue, felt slower in every way. I just may keep CM7.2 on this phone forever -- it's just a great ROM.
If JB felt slower to you then something is wrong. Did you install it from a clean 2.3.4 SBF?

Actually upgraded from CM7 to CM10 first time. Since moving back to CM7, I did an SBF with a clean install of CM10 and things are MUCH BETTER. Not going back at this point. This is only day two, but things are good. I did figure out that when I installed an app that CM10 did not like the screen started acting strange, but getting rid of the app and rebooting solved the issue.
I did end up with one strange problem, still working on it. I used Titanium to restore most of my apps, but wanted to do a clean install on Flash Player. So went in found the apk from my file mgr, selected "install", went to what I call the Android Install screen with two buttons at the bottom (Cancel & Install), tried to select the Install, nothing happened. I do have "Unknown Sources" checked in Security. I have tried other apk's just to test and none seem to work. Tried to move the apk's to the SD0 card, and that had no effect either. The strange thing, I had Flash Player working before going back to CM7.

MMS messages not working
Hey guys/gals, When I send a mms message, it never sends. When I receive a mms, it never downloads. Gives me a download button, but still doesn't download. I saw earlier in the thread someone had posted about a similar issue, and was told to check the APN settings. I have verified my APN settings are correct, but still no dice. My carrier is Viaero (sucks). I read on another thread someone suggested 8sms as an alternative, but it didn't solve it. On a stock GB rom mms works just fine. When I upgraded to 4.1.2 Padawan it stopped working. Any ideas?

so I hate these threads created by the Q&A Bot, but I see you are new member and are not able to post in the development threads yet. please don't let it keep you from researching the area though. honestly, even if you did run a search in the thread, you would not find this problem there as I believe this is an isolated incident. I don't ever recall anybody else having this issue on Padawan.
so that makes me ask you a couple of questions in an attempt to solve.
all links have been dead due to the age of the device. where did you download from? and is there a possibility of a bad download in consideration of the source?
the maybe more important question......did you clean flash?
I know you are new here, but that doesn't necessarily mean you are without experience. what is your experience level?

I appreciate you replying so quickly, thanks. Like I said, I saw one other person in the main thread with the same issue, but maybe he really was having APN issues.
I downloaded from the devhost site. The link in the OP still works. It /could/ be a bad download for whatever reason. I would think if it were that other things might go wrong, but I haven't received any process failures or FC/reboots/whatever. It's a very stable rom, which is why I'm asking about this one thing because I like the rom a lot compared to a couple others I'd tried that were still too buggy.
As far as I can tell I did a clean flash. I have TWRP 2.7 running on it, and wiped it a few times in a row to hopefully ensure a full wipe/clean flash. When Aroma started and it asked if I wanted a full wipe, that was what I selected. At one point I reformatted the sdcard thinking maybe I should wipe absolutely everything and start from scratch. Been at this for about a week, in between going to work of course.
My experience level is subjective, I guess. I research/lurk a lot in the forums here, read through as much as I can. I have an old Cappy I put CM10 on successfully, a Huawei Fusion with CM7.2, and now this Note. So, not a developer, but not a complete newb either. I use those two as backups when things don't go quite as planned..
Well, I don't see that your APN would affect your text but not calls.
May want to try and DL again. Most anyone has posted that link does not work anymore. I could link my Dropbox again.
As far as a clean flash or my flash process.....
I always factory wipe 3 times
Flash ROM
Flash ROM again with gapps (I flash ROM 2 times as you can get 2 different reactions from 2 flashes)
Wipe Davlik and Cache
Boot
Settle for 10 min
Boot again.
Maybe overkill, but it doesn't get any cleaner than that and I rarely ever had issue.

Sorry for the delayed response - work has been nuts. The link at devhost was working for me until about a week or so ago, then it wouldn't let me download anything. I thought it was just me since it had worked previously. If you could post it to your Dropbox that would be great. You could put the link here or pm, whichever you'd prefer. I'll let you know when I get the file so you don't have to leave it up forever if you don't want.
I'll try your method and see if it helps with any possible issues after I get the new file. Probably won't be able to get it all good until early next week since I'm on call until Monday. Either way, I'll keep you posted.
Something else I noticed as a little weird and wondered if it's just me: I don't get any audio in Tango messenger on a video call. Is this a known issue or isolated incident?
Thanks again, I appreciate your help.
