I have been searching and flashing over and over again to find a CM7 based ROM pre RingLock. My reasoning is the Lag in the CRT off animation, it absolutely drives me nuts, and yes i realize i can turn it off but even then there is a slite lag when locking. For some reason I recall Dorians RedPill hybred not being like this but i have reflashed it and it to has Ring Lock. However if someone can direct me in how i can speed up any current CM7 CRT off animations i do not have a problem doing it but i have asked and have not been helped. Thank you all in advance and I hope this does not lead to a mess. I can endure all the criticism and if this thread should have never been started i apologize.
Whats the ring lock you speak of?

The ring lock is a CM setting option. You can find it in CM setting lockscreen styles
That's what I thought but what does that have to do with screen off animation? Because you can change both. The ring lock and screen off.
I'm thinking you mean screen on animation

No i am actually talking about the CRT OFF animation and it doesn't make a difference if you don't even use the CM lock-screens you can use whatever I.E. MiLocker and the CRT OFF animation is still laggy. The only reason I am referring to the ring lock is because when this became an option along came the CRT OFF lag.
Oh ok. The ring lock was throwing me off. So its laggy when you press the wake/lock button and the CRT off animation. Is the animation slow or the time it takes to get the animation going from pressing the button?

The lag is when you press the wake/lock button the animation itself is slow but again if you are to turn of the CRT animation it actually still lags locking the phone. I have played around a bit and you can see a dramatic difference if you use a stock Blur ROM or even if you use a CM9 ROM. Although in the CM9 Roms i speed it up just a bit from 36 to 20. The thing that gets me is that you do not see this lag in my SGS with the CM7 rom it is nice and quick

Forgive me for asking what may be a stupid question, but... you're turning your phone off. Does it really matter if there's a slight "lag"? Are a few extra milliseconds really all that big a deal? Again, not snarking, just trying to understand.
In Cm7 Rc1 the CRT OFF ANIM is too slow but that was fixed in newest builds so i see it very cool now, no lag either..

Cool. I guess I never really thought about it, as the screen on/off animations are one of the first things I disable on those occasions where I have to do a "cold reflash" (I prefer speed and efficiency, thus I disable all of that "flash and glitz").

I just want to take this time and thank all the devs and people who have contributed to the release of the 2.3.4 build on xda. the wake up lag is gone, as well as the ui lag after first waking up the phone, and also it has the crt animation even with the lcd density issue, i just use launcher pro, so its all good. this is amazing!!! i don't know how my day could get any better!!
I really want to unlock my bootloader and install 2.3.4 but the whole voiding my warranty has me worried. I keep thinking what if something happens and I need a replacement. Oh man. Decision time.

Well, after I unlocked my bootloader, I had a nice little text in the top left of my screen that read "unlocked". But after having some problems (own problems, not because of unlocking) I flashed back to the .57 sbf, and the "unlock" text when away. Then after flashing the unlocker sbf, I didn't have to go to fastboot and do the oem unlock command. So, it's like the bootloader is unlocked (the fuse is physically blown) but the unlocked bootloader is not fully in place until flashing the unlocker sbf (whatever that does).
So anyways, if something did happen to your phone with in your warranty, do you think if you could still get into the RSD protocol support you could just flash the .57 sbf and it would maybe cover it up to Motorola or whoever checks the phone that the bootloader is unlocked? How do you think they actually check that? Or if they will actually go through the trouble to do whatever it is in order to check?

Yea, I'm really loving it too. It's so quick. Did you try setting the screen density in the build.prop file to 270 instead of 240? I did that and while things did fit on the stock launcher, it made everything bigger to where it almost looked distorted to me...I didn't like the way it looked so I set it back to 240 and just used the Gingerbread launcher.
I concur, it is pretty amazing. I love how I can use swype beta now. Loads better!

im sorry i can't really answer this, partly because I just flashed it at 12 am in the morning and put it onto the charger and now its morning where im at. but in the few minutes i used it, it didn't seem to drain that fast
The battery life seems to be worse than froyo. Can someone else confirm this?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Yep battery life is worse than froyo drains too fast!!!
Can someone give me a heqds up where to get 2.3.4 at and how to get it. I have gingerblur right now.
The battery drainage issue has got to be a rouge app driving it down. My phone is at 70%. I took it off the charger last night after I flashed 2.3.4 and I had a ton of internet usage and a few calls today.
While I hate to say this, you should look at the "task manager" app that is included with the Atrix builds and actually use the Auto-End list function. Before I found out that I DoubleTwist was killing my battery and uninstalled it I was using this auto-end list to help take care of the other apps that were going stray.
Going back and paraphrasing what the CEO of Motorola Mobility said that all apps are not created equally and some are definately coded poorly and drive battery usage down. As much as we may hate to hear it, the guy is right.
Good luck,
NW
2.3.4 was nice but in all honesty the offical release will most likely be out in less than a month and it will not have as many as the issues that this one has
I agree, it is quite amazing. The battery life is rather short now. It is definitely out of whack because I cab power it down at 70% and when I turn it back on it is at 90%.

Did you/everyone else with battery issues try wiping the battery stats or using the Battery Calibrator app?
Hello everyone. I am new to android and rooting ans these forums. Just bought a thunderbolt about a month ago and absolutely loving it. Being an iPhone jailbreaker, I immediately rooted my thunderbolt. So I've been playing around for the past few months and settled on cm7.
My problem is with lockscreen lag. When I click the lock button from screen on, the screen just very slowly dims out, much slower than when I ran stock or das bamf. Worse is that when I click the lock button from the blank screen soon after locking, it first shows what was on the screen for a second or two, then goes to the lockscreen. If I click the lock button from a black screen that has been locked for awhile, it slowly fades on before I can unlock it.
This is very annoying because I often lock then decide to unlock, and between the lock lag and unlock lag, I have to wait some 3 seconds. Dad bamf, stock, and omfgb all had very good lockscreen reaction time with no lag.
On the mr1 radio, cm7 rc0.6, tried rc1.1, same problem. Under timeout settings before screen goes to lock, I have both set to immediate. Furthermore I tried doing a complete wipe, dalvic, data, format system, reset battery, everything.
Is this normal or just my thunderbolt, any suggestions how to fix it?

Yeah, I had this same problem, but then I turned on the option for the tv animation on Device awake and it went away. It seemed much snappier.
Go to Settings > CyanogenMod Settings > Display > Screen-on Animation
Lag is probably from the cpu not kicking up to a faster speed in time to deal with the animation. Enabling that extra animation you mentioned most likely just gives it a little more time to kick up the cpu enough to stop the lockscreen itself from lagging.

Yeah this is what I was thinking. So the animation is pretty much just a placeholder or something to look at (it still seems snappy with the animation on) until the CPU kicks in.
Yareally, so do you get this problem as well? How would you suggest I fix it? I am running imoseyon's lean minimalist kernel for cm7, its running at the "normal setting" which is undervoltes then overclocked to 1.41ghz. I've tried all the governors for it ondemandx, interactivex, smartass, all the same problem. Admittedly I haven't tried the stock kernel with "performance" governor. But I'm sure there are many people who use power saving governors who do not have to contend with this issue?
Sent from my ThunderBolt using XDA App
It's an issue with the kernel/kernel governor most likely and most of the kernels I believe for AOSP and GB Sense are based on Imoseyon's which from being on BAMF 2.x and CM that it's not the ROM's doing. The threshold for the cpu to raise the clockspeed on the initial wake of the lockscreen by default isn't enough to kick it up from 245mhz.
Pretty sure this issue has been around for quite a while, just most people (including myself) most likely figure the amount of effort to fix it would be more than the annoyance. Setting a profile to keep the min speed on screen off to 384mhz or whatever comes after 245 on the toggle scale would probably fix it, but obviously raise your clockspeed some. It could also be the undervolting while the screen is off is too low as well and so it causes it to lock up somewhat while the voltage rates go up a bit.
If someone hasn't mentioned it to Imoseyon or looked through the long thread of his Sense/CM kernel, then I would recommend doing that. I recommend reading first though. I've only tried his kernel and Nerozehl's but I know Nerozehl's was a fork of it and has the same issue. The governor settings are just a pain to deal with and it's probably something Imoseyon is already aware of, but just hasn't fixed it yet.
If you want to try a quick fix (for lag), use ondemandx and not the other governors. That might fix it right away.
The lockscreen taking a second to kick in though I think is a CM problem that will just get worked out eventually.
I have this too on the liquid aosp rom. I figured it was rom related because no kernel fixes it. I hope this gets fixed.

Just wanted to say Thank you to every devoted developer we have here. I have the ATRIX and love my phone. Last night i finally unlocked my bootloader and installed Ken's Alien rom. Best ROM ive tryed hands down. so far its running real smooth. just a few setbacks. For somereason when i go into the menus in my camcorder or camera and look at the resolutions they are all white. like a white text on white bg. but you long press and I can read them. Last night the phone was randomly going to sleep. even while i was interacting with the phone the screen would just shut off. I turned nightime bat saver off and also fixed permissions. It hasnt happened again today. One more question. Im looking to overclock it and i have been reading here for quite a few days before i even attempted unlocking and installing custom rom. I wanted to know the most stable 1 out of the 3?

The reason your screen is turning off is in pocket detection is on. Go to settings>display>uncheck in pocket detection. when you wake your phone (not unlock, just wake) does the menu button unlock for you too? Its neat but I find sometimes it unlocks my phone sometimes by accident. Is there a way to turn this feature off?

I have an ace on stock firmware. however when making a call and taking the phone away from the face the phone takes well over a second for the screen to turn back on. How can i make it instantaneous? ive added the two delay tweaks to my build.prop but it hasnt done anything. When testing the proximity sensor with *#00*# its basically perfect. But lags when on a call. Also lags when waking the screen up for the first time takes a good 2 seconds. Bit **** really. Can this be fixed?
I'm not sure it's a software issue, I believe it's hardware due to sensitivity of magnets. So, no it can't be fixed.
I take it you don't have any live backgrounds on your phone? That would slow things down.
its defo software installing coderom sorts it out. however this rom is dated and i would prefer to be on stock. A phone in this price range shouldn't be doing this sort of **** to be honest.

The only other reason I maintain it is hardware, or your hardware, is because mine doesn't take over a second and I am on stock 2.3.3
yeah takes about a second. it should be instant. Coderom gets rid off the wakeup black screen lag and the in call 1 second lag when you take it away from your face. So it can be sorted its just a case of how. Also froyo on this handset had no such lag.

yes, what somedude67 said is correct. some android roms with versions froyo, 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 (coderom) don't have that lag, higher ups do.
somedude67, i just use the accessibility option called "power button ends call". the total lag is about a second in OmegaRom, which Im using now. I learned to deal with it...
I have heard that ICS solved this wake up lag in their roms.

Long press volume to skip tracks.
Right button on rosie can be custom.
Five row app drawer and non pages scrolling.
No touchscreen issues.

I always stick to stock best battery life and smooth... Nothing wrong with custom but I am not one for over clockin..
When the source code comes out will make moddin kernels better and more stable..
But a phone is a phone lol.. Not a computer... So if you want a fast thing snag a computer If you push a phone to much you will burn it up... A computer can handle more due to fans and cooling system you can add. But pushing a phone will shorten it's life..
HTC didn't knock the cpu down because they wanted it to run slower or anything like that.. It's what ran best at the factory for battery life and stable issues..
