[Q] No Boot on custom ROM's - Motorola Droid RAZR

I've rooted my Razr MAXX with both Motofail and Zergrush, and using Safestrap i've flashed Eclipse, Black Widow and Gummy ROM's (Also GSM Patch). Problem is that i just get a black screen and no boot with all of the ROM's.
Thought about using Bootstrap instead of Safestrap, but im afraid i can't do the easy reversion and ending up with a bricked phone, not even sure if that's the problem, can't see what im doing wrong here so i would really apricate some help!
Thanks in advance
EDIT: Using the recovery i've wiped data, cache and dalvik cache and formatted /system before every flash

Can't seem to install v.2.0 of Safestrap. And i can't get Bootstrap 1.0 or 2.0 to work, it just hangs at startup.
Do i have any alternatives ?

CDMA I guess... safestrap should work insted of bootstrap..Try to flash everything again, start with the 2.3.6 stock rom and go on step by step. Check if you got the latest safestrap version..

Found out Safestrap doesn't work on GSM phones! So after some researching i found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1558884
And i can run Bootstrap now after formatting /system. Now for the flashing

Your problem is that Safestrap doesn't work for the XT910(GSM) version of the Droid RAZR. As I understand it has to do with the size of the /preinstall folder.
Once you uninstall Safestrap and install Bootstrap it should work fine.

[Q] Razr Maxx xt912 safestrap New ROM won't get past boot screen

Hi Friends,
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Yesterday I rooted my RAZR Maxx and installed SafeStrap. I'm pretty sure I've got that part working correctly.
When i install a ROM to my Safe partition via SDCard, It says everything installed, but when it reboots and loads, it won't get past the boot animation.
Any ideas? I'm trying to get one of the experimental builds of CM10 to work on here.
Thanks

Before you flashed the rom did you do a full wipe? (factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, and wipe cache partition) was safe system enabled when you flashed? How long was it in a boot loop for? It does take a while for the system to boot the first time you boot up after flashing, Also what version of safestrap are you using?

I am using SafeStrap 2.11
I have tried doing all of the wipes before i reinstall it, and i can't see to get it to work. I left it in the boot loop for about half an hour (as long as i could stand it). I tried a couple of different ROMS with the same result.
I think I might have safestrap backwards. My unsafe partition is actually the one that's still working somehow, and my "safe" partition is the one that boot loops on me. I don't think it matters, but i could be wrong. Thoughts on that?
did you format system?
what build exactly?

Need help, unable to make any rom work???

Hi all,
I've been trying to install Eclipse rom on my droid razr, everything goes alright, but when i reboot, it comes back to my stock moto ICS.
I've installed safestrap v.2.11. Then followed directions on how to use, like,
-Backup stock rom
-Enable safe strap
-Wipe cache, dalvik, factroy data and /system
-Install .zip from internal sdcard
-Then i reboot, but it gets stuck after dual core screen, i see a slight flash and it reboots, and this cycle just keep son repeating
But then when i go into safestrap and disable it, then it does boot up, but goes back to stock ics rom???

Can u kindly explain how to make an active slot and installing rom there, coz i tried making a partition using v2.11 and messed up my sdcard..
Plus, I did try running v3.something and it didn't work at all on my droid razr. Can u kindly post link to the download file?
Also, that safe strap v3.05 says its for droid bionic..
dont know if that has anything to do with not working with droid razr

Is it possible to flash a ROM over the stock partition in SafeStrap 3.6x

I really want to use SafeStrap instead of BMM because with BMM, my SD card and internal storage get messed up on every reboot. However, I'm just not ok with partitioning in order to install a ROM; I want it installed over my Stock partition. Can I do that with SafeStrap? Whenever I try, it just boots to a black screen after the recovery.

yeah you can. clear you cache and dalvik in the recovery, should start up find after that.
@Redjax Have you had any luck in doing this? I tried flashing to the stock partition (after making backups of everything, thank goodness!) and got the same black screen. Is there anything extra to do if you want to flash the Stock partition?
I flashed to the newest cm11 to stock slot on SS3.65. Here's what I did with no problems.
Activate Stock Slot
Wipe: Cache, Dalvik Cache, Android_secure, System, Data (Repeat; I always wipe everything twice, probably unnecessary, but i like to be sure)
Flash CM11 Nightly
Flash PA Gapps
Flash JBX Kernal
Flash WiFi Patch
Wipe Cache, Dalvik Cache again
Reboot
Everything worked fine first try. I realize what you flash will probably be different depending on which Rom you choose.

Hmm.. I wiped everything except for the Android_secure... Wonder if that's what did it? I was just trying to flash the latest/first official CM11 nightly, along with DHackers no_set_metadata GAPPS.
After I flashed the phone wouldn't boot -- just red Moto symbol then black screen. I managed to get it into APX Fastboot mode, used DROID_RAZR_Utility to flash the stock rom back on to the phone (without data wipe). Lo and behold, the phone came back to life! RE-rooted and reinstalled Safestrap 3.65, and all the slots were still there -- no harm, no foul, but I thought for a good while I bricked the phone. Whew!
Ok, Off to research what the Android_secure partition is for...
I think, BMM is better than SS, don't have any problem with my device
I've been out of the loop for awhile. Back in the days of og droid we just used recovery. SS came in later allowing you to have dual boot.
If you don't want that option can you just use a recovery like CW and not use SS or BMM?

On SS 3.65 i always wipe in my stock rom everything exept the SD card and the internal Storage and it works, i do it like that nearly a year without any problems.
Yes, I've not had a problem. I'm using Jelly Bean's ROM, and all I did was backup my Stock ROM, wipe it, and install through SafeStrap. I don't know why it wouldn't work for you...what ROM are you attempting it with?

[Q] Pros and Cons of flashing custom rom to stock slot

I'm currently running safe strap 3.65. Been flashing roms for quite a while but always left the stock slot alone. I'm wondering if there were any real down sides or things to be careful about when flashing a custom rom/kernal to the stock slot. There's the obvious, that a rom wouldn't work and I would have no working roms, but i'm not worried about that as I could easily flash another. Thanks in advance.
Also wondering. I did a backup of stock but it doesnt exist now! And flashed cm10.1.3 and it won't boot.....

Does anyone know how to install CM 10.1.3 or 10.2 to stock slot? I tried it, but it won`t boot. I had a stock slot with root and safestrap enabled, then i wiped stock slot in safestrap. After that my phone didn`t do anything, it seems that safestrap has deleted itself while wiping stock slot. So i had to restore my system with RSD Lite.
I did exact same thing. I even backed up before flashing and then the back up dissappear or didn't actually back up

It works now. Installed Stock with RSD lite, rooted it, installed SS3.65 and did a wipe cache, data and factory reset. Then i installed CM 10.2, Avatar rom 4.3 over stock system. Then i installed Gapps and JBX kernel 1.5. It is running great.
Just wanted to update this since I hadn't received any responses about the actual pros and cons. I decided to jump right in and do it and see what happened. Here's what I did.
SafeStrap 3.65:
Activate stock slot
wipe: cache, dalvik cache, android secure, data, system
repeat (I always repeat this step to be sure everything is clear)
Flash CM11 12/15 Nightly
Flash PA Gapps
Flash WiFi Access Point Patch
Flash JBX 2.0 Kernal
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
Reboot.
Everything works perfectly on stock slot.

I prefer to leave the stock side alone for a couple of reasons. I like to always have it there as a fall back boot option. Also, if you have to delete ROM slots and are down to the option of having none left, you need to be able to activate the stock slot so that you can delete the last slot.
Seems the biggest pro for flashing over stock is saving storage space.

Is the Backup maybe on the SD card and you searching in the internal storage, or other way round?
Just set it completely stock, rooted and deleted everything for **** and hdmi so annoying hdmi quits popping up forcing landscape mode

How did you wipe system and your safestrap still works? If i wipe system, safestrap wipes itself and the recovery stops working after the wipe, phone is bricked. Only RSD helps fixing it

Lol never tried with 3.73/75 but i dont use the XT910 anymore so i dont care anymore about this. Just waiting for a Root exploit for my new Droid Maxx.

[Q] Potential Brick: CM 10.1, shut off after Motorola logo

Hey guys, looks like I may have done some serious damage here.
XT912, rooted with razr blade, using safestrap 3.65. Flashed the stable 10.1 CM and 08/2013 GAPPS from cyanogenmod.com. I used the safestrap advanced wipe, data, cache, dalvik cache, and system. Now, I just get the M for motorola, doesn't even get to SS splash screen. Also, I cannot hard boot into recovery with the buttons.
Does anyone have any ideas to help me out? Let me know if I need to provide more info.
Thanks!
Avery
UPDATE. I managed to unbrick it. It must have been only a soft brick. I finally got it to boot into AP Fastboot and used RSD to SBF back to JB.
