hi guys, the problem i have is this:
i'd like to open *.epub file attached to an email (or if i find it in the system file manager), just tapping on it,(like IOS do) and even if i've the app that can open this file (i've installed moon+reader and alkido) under file like the *.epub appear only the button 'info' and if i tap on it, it says 'no app for this file' .
this problem is for all the ebook files epub/mobi/ecc...ecc.. and rar archives!
another question :
how can i open the book i've already bought in google play books?!
it seems it can open books only if you download it from the 'play books store'.
i find a "solution" even if it is not really what i expect, in some file manager ("Root Explorer", "ES Gestore File" and "X-plore") you can choose tha app that have to open the file, but they didin't memorize that setting, and all the time you wanna open that file, you have to do a long tap on it and than choose 'open with' and than the app you want to use!
sorry for my english!
i hope i'd been able to explain my problem!(and to find a solution)
Try uninstalling aldiko and the other book readers then reinstall them.
When you've done this open aldiko and search your epub file, it will add to your book shelf!
but it will not find an ebook attached to an email!
even if i unistall and reinstall the ebook readers!

youll have to save the attachment from the email first then open it
i use gmail as email manager, and im not even able to save it! i just can tap 'info'
i'd like to find a 'windows like' solution , for this extension use this app!!
and not all the time 'save' than open a specific file manager , find the file and funally open it!it's boring!

This may be a super trivial question, but I cannot seem to find how to delete files in the "downloads" folder/app.
I had downloaded some PDF files, and it shows in the Internet & Downloads page. I've tried clearing the cache/cookies/history in my Internet settings, but the files still appear in my Downloads section. I thought there was a way to delete them in the Downloads menu, but it does not appear to be. When I press the "Menu" button, it just gives me the option to Sort By Size.
Any suggestions?
In stock browser, when you look at your downloads history, you should see tick boxes next to each download. When you tick the box the option to delete should appear.
also, as a general idea, you could open the file explorer, navigate to the folder Downloads/ and delete the files you want to delete. a good thing about android is that you actually don't have to take care of file locations but it can still help to use file explorer to move, copy or delete files.
Using Cyanogen 7.2
1. "Downloads" application (v2.3.7) says there are no downloads. If I use file manager I can navigate to downloads folder and see the files there. I read something saying Downloads application will only display files that were downloaded with the default android browser - is this correct? I use Firefox and will occasionally be using the light version of Opera.
2. Workaround if question in 1 is correct would be to create a shortcut to the downloads folder on home page, using file manager. However, the file managers I've tried "File Manager" built into 7.2, and "Open Manager" apparently don't allow shortcuts to be created.
Is there another open source file manager that allows shortcuts to be added to home page?
Would really appreciate any help with this, thanks
I know es file explorer offers this,,, and is quite awesome,,, not sure about compatibility on cm7 but i would think it's fine
Verizon Galaxy Note 3, up-to-date, stock ROM, not rooted.
I have a 64gb MicroSD card installed, and put a copy of my photography website on it. I find I am unable to figure out a way to open it in Google Chrome.
I used ES File Explorer's FTP function to begin with, to copy files from my website to the card, and this worked beautifully. When I click on the index.html file on the card, the only options offered are HTML Viewer and some text editors. Chrome is not an option (Chrome is the default browser for my phone). I can try "Open as" and choose Chrome, but get the same error message as below.
If I long-press the file, and select Properties, I can copy the (full) Path for the file, but when I paste this into Chrome's URL bar, it won't open:
Access to the file was denied
"The file at file:///storage/extSdCard/PhotoWebsite/index.html is not readable. It may have been removed, moved, or file permissions may be preventing access"
I have searched quite a bit, and tried various addresses, including localhost, localhost/mnt, content:, etc., etc., but nothing seems to work.
Ultimately I want to have a Bookmark in Chrome where I can view my website offline when necessary, but this seems to be more complex than would appear necessary.
Any help appreciated.
Seriously? Is there no way to accomplish what should be a fairly basic task: for a browser to open up an html file???

Use file explorer
Open the app so that the PDF files are downloaded. Then keep the app open, don't close it.
Go to your Android file explorer and go to Android>data.
In this look for the app name. Must be something like com. followed by app name or app developer or something related. Check in that folder.
If I click to open a .txt file or .log file in Samsung File Browser (or any file management app)... the Android OS says that there are no apps associated with these files extensions; and, opens Google Play store; which is not useful.
What do I need to do in order to automatically open an app of my choice, such as QuickEdit+ when I click on a .txt or .log file in File management apps such as Samsung File Browser?
On Windows OS, its very easy, I can tell what apps to automatically open when clicking on a file type. I just want to be able to do the same.
Thanks in advance!
i can usually just select the text file and then select open with then select the editor. most times that choice is kept for all text files but at times it might ask which app or if for one time or always.
