My wife's Neo V keeps breaking up calls. It does it every day, sometimes a few times a day. It was bought with Android 2.3, then updated to a newer build and recently to ICS. The problem is present all the time since the day it was bought.
Switching to GSM only helps a bit, but not resolves the problem.
I've installed "No Signal Alert" to see if it looses signal. It does many times a day. Note that the phone is used in a big city, where signal strength is very good (at the time I'm writing this it's -65dBm).
Do you know the problem? And what is more important to me - do you know solution? I'd be thankful for any help on then matter.
Wife's Neo V details:
- baseband: 8x55A-AAABQQAZM-203028G-70
- kernel: 2.6.32-9-perf
- compilation: 4.1.A.0.562
Signal drops for me too but not very often. It's like once in a week or maybe more when I'm not using it. But if your experiencing this problem to such an extent then I recommend you to try a different carrier. If problem still persists then I would suggest you to take it to a service center.

Ok but you forget to write phone number to her. I think it may help
I have many friends who are having problems with dropped signal with their Neo V.
Sony should do something about this..

try upgrading to the latest version maybe?
It could help. Just update your phone to the latest edition of ics 4.1.B.0.587
This could possibly help because it comes with baseband 77 which is the latest version.
I really think you should send it to the service center. My phone never had a single problem with calls or wifi, so you might have a defective unit.

Hi all,
I recently installed Pauls MiniCM7Pro_v21 ROM (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201116) onto my X10 Mini Pro. I wanted to try a CM7 ROM that did not require a cracked bootloader and could work with the Stock Sony Ericsson Kernel.
Most things work, but the bluetooth does not work at all. I saw some posts about this (most were about unrelated issues with bluetooth not working with certain devices which is a different problem to mine) but there were no real solutions presented.
The problem with bluetooth is that if you attempt to enable bluetooth in the wireless settings, it says it is turning it on and then it gives up after a small wait, failing to do so and the bluetooth settings remain greyed out.
This in and of itself is not a huge problem for me as I don't want to use bluetooth, however the real issue is that the battery drains from 100% to flat in about 4 hours when the phone is "Idling". The power drain stats say that most of that was drawn from "bluetooth". I figure the problems are related. Also this is not a bad battery.
The device becomes a small pocket warmer as it is giving off so much heat. I have done the battery reset procedure despite thinking the battery is not a problem and it didn't help as I expected. Also the battery works fine in the stock SE ROM (maybe up to 24 hours operation).
I disabled most things that cause battery drain that I don't need. Disabled 3G and WiFi.
I figure there is a bug somewhere in the bluetooth code, and this is probably one others have seen from the posts I have read.
One thing that is different about my install that may also be the problem others have (as I have not seen anyone that mentioned this problem quote these details) is that the version and baseband are not quite the same on my phone as for what was listed in the requirements.
My phone has:
Firmware: 2.0.A.0.504
Baseband: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404006
The requirements list:
Firmware: 2.1.1.A.0.6 SE firmware
Baseband: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015
This is a phone on Vodaphone in Australia. I noticed that the 2.0.A.0.504 seems to be uncommon.
There is one more official Sony Ericsson update available for my phone that I have not yet installed. I am going to do that update next and see if the firmware/baseband become correct after doing so.
1) Can anyone else confirm this same problem or have any suggestions?
2) Are there any other CM7 ROM's that would work with my phone?
3) By using flash tool, can I change my phones Firmware and Baseband values to be what is expected of the above ROM?
Thanks,
Brendon.
Confirmation
I can confirm that the problems i was experiencing are caused by installing on top of the wrong Firmware/Baseband.
After updating my phone using SE updater, and re-installing it all works fine.
Used flashtool to upgrade my xperia s to 4.0.4 a few days ago. For the first two days, the wifi worked fine, but I did notice the signal was a little weaker comparing to GB. Today is the 3rd or 4th day of using ICS, the wifi signal becomes extremely low, and even disconnects some times. After restarting the phone, the signal bar was back to full, but another problem appears... the wifi turns on and off for about every 30 seconds. Is that something you guys face too? Let me know!

I have wifi problem too. firstly, my Xperia S cannot obtain IP address automatically, it always shows limted connection on wifi status, I try to reset my wireless router, but no use. then I set a Static Address on my phone, looks working properly, but sometimes the singal become very weak, and the data transfer suspend, but can restore in 10~20 seconds. anyone who konws the solutions?
my xperia S is Hongkong ver.
agree.
ics update has the wifi issue and network issue..
hope next update will repair it
Yup! Mine too... compare with ICS, GB has a better wifi signal... but the "on" and "off" issue, thank God I don't have that one...

Hello all.
I've been having a strange thing in my XPS since I've updated (officially) to ICS.
Randomly the data connection simply stops working.
Basicly I've got full signal, the 3G signal is there, but the H stops showing and no connection at all. I never had this problem in GB...
The only solution is to reboot the phone. As soon as I do that is working again, till the next failure.
Any ideas what might be happening? And the web brwosing in ICS is so much slower... In GB is was almost instant, in ICS is... Awfull. Should I go back to GB? None of the new things in ICS really interest me.
There is some reports about this bug,you have to wait for an update or try another firmware.

Same here.
When I leave my home network in the morning I have to reboot my phone because data is not available until reboot.
If later connect to any wireless network the data traffic comes back like always before.
Same is with my home network. If the phone is connected to home network and I force data, it's always working, only the morning is problematic.
I'm using ICS 4.0.4

Same problem here.
It just randomly stop to communicate even if the 3G or H icon is there. A samsung guy told me it may be an incompatibility between the ICS kernel and the modem firmware. No issues while connected to any WIFI.
Fixed with a reboot. Never happened to me with GB.

Same here, a reboot solves it, switching data off and on again, or going aeroplane mode and back don't do anything for it.
I have the same issue after updating to ICS.
I use preooted stock ROM.
Any updates on this issue.
Can anyone recomend ROM version which does not suffer form this issue?

same here, and because of that. im stop using Juice Defender anymore. JD cut the connection and reconnect few minutes after based from my setting just to save some battery juice, and this bug really annoying since i cant get any connection even JD reconnect. instead of reboot. im switch off-on data.
+1
ive noticed that after every 12-15hours my data connectivity shuts off completely. only solution is a reboot. this never happened on gb. annoying indeed.
Same problem here
.452 original firmware, update via sony pc companion
Anyone contacted sony mobile about this issue to inform them for the coming firmware?
It's probably in all ics versions (.58 firmware here).
I've updated as well via Flashtool and now data doesn't work at all!!!!
edit: i just had to configure the apn, lol

same here (sony ICS rom). i talked to sony about one week ago regarding this issue. they told me that this comes from my sim card. i told them that i've never had such a problem with my SE C510 but they insist that the issue can only be solved with replacing the card... i do not believe this. i see the little arrow appears below the "H" and that means data is sent but not received. still turning off and on the phone once a week.
I am having this problem too on UK generic Android 4.04 build number 6.1A0.453
No fix yet?
How's possible Sony is not aware of this problem?

I would actually agree with what Sony say here, I was away for a few weeks and used a forign SIM card for that duration. Not once did the Data stop working, that included hopping between Wifi, H, 3G, E, etc.. So Maybe it is a SIM issue ? SInce I came back I also updated to the newest ICS release and haven't seen the issue yet.
I have the same problem and it's extremely annoying. I lose data connection after about couple of days. It doesn't make sense that this is a sim problem because GB was fine.
I have ICS 6.1.A.0.453.
Same here, I am sure its not the sim card, comm'on!!!
Did you ask to Customer service? They know jack****... lol

i have the same problem. is that the official upgrade?
Now I know what's causing the random restart or freezes. It's my network connection. I posted 3 days ago I think, that I have a weird problem on my Xperia S. I troubleshoot, tested different roms, Stock, custom roms, GB or ICS, and what I noticed is that, when my network signal drops down (totally no bar), then immediately full bar, after 30 seconds - 2 minutes it reboots. I also did turn on the airplane mode, and yes it didn't restart. But I'm really confused because every time I'm using my phone for voice call (1-6 hours non stop voice calls), no random reboot! please help me understand guys.
By the way I'm using stock .58 right now, I relocked my bootloader and no root, but the random reboot is still there.
about same problem here,my mobile network disconnects for some seconds every about 5 minutes.the network I use at the moment is 2G.
I think we should wait for ICS!
could it be a hardware problem?? my phone fell from about 1 meter high, I'm a bit frightened :-s

Flash the latest software update man, It resolves issues including random restart/reboot. It's also the smoothest firmware.

Hello, I've installed some firmwares ([email protected] 7, Erachter v5, CM9.1 FXP141, CM10 FXP141 and other original firmware), and all of them had problem connecting to the operator. I'm from Brazil and I removed the device in the store talking and after I did the upgrade from 2.3.7 to 4.0.4 android by Sony itself (PC Companion), my phone could not get over the carrier signal. Do you know tell me which baseband I could install to test?
Hi, can someone help me?

Try to use another sim card, for testing purposes only. Not same carrier as yours, see if it is working.
Hi, thanks for the feedback. The chip is working because I left the carrier and was talking. When I got home and updated from Gingerbread to ICS through Sony, said no more ... could you tell me which file I could use to update the baseband?
Hello.
My girlfriend recently got a Sony Xperia U.
There are a few crucial problems.
First of all, the speed whilst being on Wi-Fi is ridiculeously slow. Did a comparison speedtest with my Desire HD, next to each other side by side, and my HTC got (literally) 10 x faster download speed than the Xperia U. For some strange reason though, the upload speeds were comparable.
Anyways, the slow download speed (reached only maximum about 114kbps) results in poor web browsing, facebooking etc so it's really annoying.
Another problem is that the network signal of the Xperia U is very low to sometimes non-existant.
The phone has the stock rom and is not rooted. So it's running on version 6.0.B.3.184.
Who can help me ? Or do I need to return the phone in the shop right away ?
Do software repair using PC Companion or Sony Update Service (SUS)
if that doesnt help give it to service senter.
After trying out a few methods, it seems that going to Menu - Xperia - Download internet & MMS settings seems to have solved the problem, download speeds are now over 20mbit with the speedtest whereas it didn't even reach half a mbit before.
Will report later after some longer time of testing to see if the problem is permanently fixed.
Had the same issue when brought my wife's brand new U from the store two days ago, extremely slow WiFi compared to my SGS. Reflashed the 184 firmware using SEUS this morning and since then it appears to be working just fine. Fingers crossed still, though...
Just read on this forum that the ST25a version of the U may be getting the ICS update in the coming days, so chances are our version will follow shortly. So, if reflashing the current GB doesn't help I'd still suggest to wait and give the ICS a try before considering the service shop.

How can I know if it is a ST25a version ? Anyways the problem sometimes comes back that download speed @ Wi-Fi is very slow.. like it totally blocks/lags (or goes ridiculeously slow) and then peaks again @ max values..
Is there any source for the ICS update of this phone ?
The ST25a the American version whereas the “i" refers to international, I believe. In any case the ICS update has not been out for either of these two yet afaik. Concerning the Wi-Fi issue I really have no idea what's causing it and/or how to actually fix it completely, I haven't been able to replicate it as if it occurs then it does it randomly and I suppose rather rarely now (I didn't receive any complaints from my wife during the past days).

Too bad there is no real clue for this wifi problem.. thanks for your feedback anyways.
Trying this application now
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wifiboostereasyconnect&hl=nl
Will report later.
Not working -_-
Thanks for the update! I guess the best option for us now is to wait a few days until the ICS update is made available (hopefully) and then if flashing that doesn't help we'll really be left with the one last option of claiming our devices with the service shop...

Will test this now, thanks for the tip.
So far so good, made my other half happy lol.. Although I don't understand such workarounds are needed to have stable Wi-Fi.. Glad it can be solved like that though, hope the ICS update (if it comes..) will solve these kind of bugs (and I didn't even start ranting about PC Companion bugging ****loads, sometimes not finding the storage, having to remove app data @ mtpapp etc etc..).
Reminds me again why I got myself a Nexus.. Xperia, sense, touchwiz, it will simply never work flawless.
Regardless of all this though for 200 euro/dollars this is a solid-feeling phone with decent hardware specs, front face camera and actually the interface is very smooth. Can't have it all I guess.
Use v6 SuperCharger, & 3 G turbo charger, it will. VERY VERY fastest for u (our XU), I installed v6 supercharger RC8.1 LASTEST & 3G TURBO & KISSASS KERNELIZED Tweaks Scripts.
They can do for ur phone fastest.
wifi, ram, scroll smooth,3G,etc...
(now I will answer my exams at 17.9.2012) I will link for u how to do.
Now u use google search how to do with Upper Name Scripts. O.k
Sorry for my English bad

On another router the Wifi is great.. Kinda ridiculeous workaround but at least it works, well a least the last few hours we tested.
She been on facebook all the time lol and no lags or drops so far.
Can confirm now that the problem is 100% solved by having connected to another wireless network (stealing unprotected wifi from the neighbour lol ).
No idea why on our own wifi here at home her XU is having big problems with wifi whereas with my own phone it never ever has any problem..

I'm not sure if your solution(stealing the wifi from neighbour) is valid for every person who can read this.
I have another solution, in your router wifi settings you probably have mixed networks enabled, like g and n standard. So, try to switch to
the "g only".
I'm quite sure it will help, in one of prev posts there was autosync disabling , this was temporary solution for me, I also re installed the soft,
But as far as I'm testing , the solution with router is solid.
