I'm an idiot, Mods please close - HTC Rezound

Unlocked, S-off, running CleanRom DE 1.4...trying to flash a boot animation in boot. It finds PH98IMG, then says it is parsing. And then its back to the menu, no option to install. Any ideas? I've downloaded several different ones and same deal.

If your trying to flash a boot animation from hboot... You do it from recovery. But you can just replace the one you have with q file manager. Unless you're meaning a splash screen?

Wow...I feel like an idiot. I don't know where I got the idea it had to be flashed in hboot. I must have hallucinated it when I stayed up all night. Thanks

[Q]friends revolutionary failed, but has s-off?

Hi, my friends revolutionary failed three times, kept saying it lost communication with phone or something in the middle of the process. It only restarted the bootloadwr like 2 times instead of the three or four times it normally does.
The weird thing is that his bootloader says revolutionary and s-off now.... He was able to flash teamwin recovery as well.
Is he all good to go or will he run into problems later? I have never heard of this happening and am pretty baffled by it.

If he has S-OFF and is able to flash a custom recovery, then it means he should be set to go.

Yea, I haven't seen anyone report that happening. I would guess that if it says revolutionary and is S-off, then it should be good to go. Especially if he has already successfully flashed a recovery.
Thanks guys. The only thing I found weird is that he flashed synergy ROM and does not have crt animations. So I wasn't sure if that was somehow related... I know probably a dumb thing to think, but.I find it so bizzare that he even got s-off to begin with.

Constant Reboot

I had just gotten home and set my phone down on my desk to go to the restroom (yeah probably kinda personal but whatever) and then I came back to my phone and saw it rebooting on its own. I waited to see if it would go back into the phone and it just kept loop booting after the boot splash screen.
I took the battery out, then restarted it, same thing.
I took the battery out again, went into the recovery, wiped everything, wiped dalvik, and wiped cache, and then installed a new revision of the ROM that I use (Synergy 3Dvo r456). It installed fine, rebooted to go into it, and now it STILL just constantly reboots.
Any ideas? I'm trying different ROMs but I have no idea why it would randomly just start doing this. It literally was from a span of just a minute or so, coming back and seeing it do it. No one touched it, nothing. I've been using it all day today without any problems what-so-ever too.
I would wipe everything and start over and flash the rom again. (Different rom) Have you flashed a different kernel for the rom?
And FYI, this belongs in the Q&A section. Be prepared for what is about to come.

no this belongs in Q&A
I realized after I posted it but I can't move it myself. I can't delete it either.
I have a bookmark to the CDMA Dev section and forgot to go back to the beginning of the EVO 3D section then to the Q & A section.
Anyway, yeah, I've flashed multiple different ROMs. I've flashed the newest revision of what i was using, I flashed the last revision of Synergy before 2.3.4 came out, and I even flashed the sprint stock ROM. I still get constant reboots after the splash screen.
No I haven't flashed anything lately as far kernels.
Thanks for the responses guys, and like I said, if I could delete or move my own post I would've literally right after I posted it
Also, after each different ROM I wiped everything, wiped dalvik, and wiped cache.

If you're still having those issues I would run the ruu and take it back. Just my opinion but it sounds like bigger issues than just roms.
And people make mistakes, hopefully only the mature members will see this before it gets moved. I would pm a mod and ask it to be moved.

This is so weird. I literally have been using it for a week since I last did anything to it (flash different\updated ROM or flash a new radio) and obviously everything was working up till now since then. I put it down on my desk and come back and it's loop rebooting.
Any ideas what it might be so it doesn't happen again? lol
Make sure if you are S-Off that when you run the RUU you also set secure flag 3 in fastboot. Its in the guide, if you dont go back to S-On you will get a Process System Not Responding, this causes more reboots!
Yeah I just flashed the IMG file and it's still loop rebooting.
I'm gonna set the secure flag 3 now as we speak.
Thanks for the replies again guys.
EDIT: just reflashed that stock IMG zip file and then returned it to S-ON and rebooted 2-3 times max (it wasn't the 5 reboot like it does when removing S-ON and reflashing the stock IMG file). Now it's back into the phone and not rebooting anymore...wtf? Should I still try and exchange it? I bought it\upgraded to this phone <30 days ago so there shouldn't be any question of whether I can or not, right?

If it says S-on, you're good to take it in. Even if you were out of your 30 days they should still do it under manufacturers warranty.

Something could have gotten borked when you flashed something, thats why a ruu fixed it. I got mine replaced under warranty like 2 days ago for a reboot issue, phone was bought June and they replaced it with no problem.

It isn't doing it anymore now that it's S-ON, before I returned the security flag to S-ON it was loop rebooting. I'm gonna try and exchange it anyway, that makes me nervous that that happened without me even near it or anything being done to it lol
Lets hope that the sprint techs don't update ur phone thinking it will fix ur concern... They seem to think that an update fixes all issues... Good luck

not looking too good. I tried the lite version for now. original rom is CR dev edition and tried installing bamf on slot one since kernels have to be exact. it was nearly completed until the boot.img part of the install failed and stopped the entire install

we could install kernels before,as long as we used a PC and launched recovery from fastboot. i guess its cool we can do it from a permanent installed recovery now without a PC,but its not that big a deal to me. ive always hooked my phone to the puter when i wanted to flash a new rom.
my favorite thing is being able to flash whole leaks without fear of beeing stuck there, and the ability to bounce around between firmwares.
my second favorite thing is that my bootloader stays unlocked. i no longer have to relock to run ruus, and afterward i dont need to re-unlock or keep installing patched hboots to use a few fastboot commands. this is different than my other s-off htcdev phones where the unlocked hboot would be overwritten with a locked one during the ruu flash
*disclaimer: i have no factory warranty and dont care about my lock status being unlocked,or relocked. do not htcdev unlock after s off if you care about staying locked
thirdly,custom spalsh screens are fun
Flashing nandroid backups with a minimum of steps and not worrying about kernels when I do.

I love being able to make mistakes and then go back and fix them with an RUU. If I want to go back to GB, I can do that. I also like being able to restore nandroids at any time.

I like s-off for a few reasons. 1. With S-Off i know that future hacks and tricks will probably be easier for me to use. 2. I get a bit of satisfaction when i see s-off in my hboot
Has to be the ability to flash without the need to unlock or relock. Takes away tedious steps and makes the overall process quicker and more simple. Plus, there isn't a need to stress about down/upgrading firmware.

Soff really has no impact on more/newer roms or developers coming to a phone
It makes things significantly easier to flash, allows you to flash older radios and ruu, no need to relock to update or worry about an update relocking your phone
