apps installing in non-standard location...movable? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I've noticed a few user apps that do not install into the standard /data/apps location... ESPN Sportscenter is one, ING Retirement app is another. These apps create their own directory under sdcard instead.
Wondering if there is any way to move the apps into the proper /data/apps location?

You sure its not just storing data there?
The APK itself should be in /data/app/

hmm... That does sound more likely lol. It's not installed at the moment so I can't confirm. Will reinstall and check.

Apps do that so if you reinstall you keep your settings.
I just wish they all stuck it in the same place and not make there own folder in /sdcard/* and keep it in /sdcard/android/data/*

Yep, looks like some image cache...and it's empty even, grr.
I know there is no need for an image here but I've been wanting to test xda app image handling since the update ;-)

CM7 kernel hack fascinate

What does the recently discovered kernel hack do to our phones? Are they vulnerable to viruses? Aside from the Dev's correcting it, what can be done to safeguard until this gets fixed.

Crap, looks like he already got hit with the "blank reply" section of the virus. If only we didn't run our kernels via The Cloud!

Nope, that's the, I could't think of a nice thing to say,so I said nothing at all post. Don't fret, I managed to find out that the site was hacked, and apparently the kernel files were untouched.

I really hate it when I make a douchebag post and someone maturely and calmly brushes it off. Makes me feel like, well... a douchebag.

Why are these files here?

This is a screen shot from my gallery. The 2 folders are non deletable folders . obviously that's the picasa symbol and the pics inside are from my Google + page. I found em and deleted um thru root explorer but they come back. What is bringing them back in. I deleted the Google plus app also.

I believe if you go into settings, click on your Google account, and click on the email address, uncheck the sync picasa at the bottom. I had that album too, but ever since I unchecked that, it hasn't been there.

Under your Google account sync settings, do you have Picasa web albums checked? It's the bottom-most entry for me.

That was it. I just killed it all in one shot. BTW I know you all are super jealous of my s-pen artistic abilities. Its okay I would be jealous too....lol

[App]Gmail Dark Holo 4.5

I found this in the Galaxy Nexus thread and have been using it on the amaze. Works perfect. All credit to jase33. I like this over the white themed gmail. There is also a matching messaging app with a link in his thread.
Give him thanks if you use his app.

It doesn't work on the s2 ?
You might want to make a backup of your original then uninstall it.
After that I usually use titanium backup to wipe the dalvik cache then copy the app to either data/app or system/app with root explorer and change permissions to r,w,r,r. Then reboot.

@DannyDrama are you using a custom ROM? If so, which one (can you provide a link)? Not to insult your intelligence but are you absolutely sure you haven't installed an app to display the battery? It's quite easy to do this accidentally.... just check through downloaded apps in settings and also in Play Store to make sure. Otherwise it's probably a ROM feature.
Yeah I've looked everywhere, cached apps and everything. Nothing battery related installed anywhere. I even uninstalled Xposed and all modules.
I've installed a CM backup and it's gone now. Thanks for the input anyway

In the interest of thread completion, it was Widgetsoid. I haven't run that app in months which is why I didn't find it.
