[Q] What happened to the Weather animations? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Peace All,
What happened to the Sense on-screen weather animations after you un-lock phone? I could have sworn I seen the animations in video reviews..but when I un-lock my phone I dont see them (...and yes, i have "ALL ANIMATIONS" checked, as well as sound)???

Long Click the HTC weather clock, drag it to edit. Go through the settings and there should be a checkbox for "show full screen animation" after you choose your location. It's disabled by default. Hope this solves it.

Peace fhnguyen,
Thanks for you reply---> it worked...I thought I was going crazy!!!

No problem man!
Me too--I have been going slightly crazy adjusting to all of the changes in menus and buttons and such! I love it like crazy though!

It is extremely simple.
Technically, you could simply create your own wallpaper. With the correct dimensions, each swipe would place a new background on the screen. That may take some time to figure out, but it would make it to where you wouldn't have to have a Live wallpaper eating up your battery, you could have a static image that just aligns itself perfectly.
If someone has tried this, and I'm completely wrong, do tell!

Just keep messing around with it... I figured it out first try didn't mess with anything else beside transitions. Just chose one at a time, starting with 1. No sarcasm was intended, im honestly trying to help you get it workin
its true this thing will kill your battery life! but its the only way i've found to do it. it is pretty simple my little sister figured it out. in settings choose "add individual settings" for however many screens you have. (it numbers the screens from left to right). then change each screens picture by choosing each "screen # settings" > "picture source" > "single picture" find the picture you want and voila
This app is driving me mad. For real. I've done as shown in those screenshots, but there's no scrolling between screens. It's stuck at the SECOND screen/pic.
What launcher are you using? And how many home screens?
Damn it, I WILL make this work!

What launcher are you using? Most of the home launchers on the Market have a setting to enable or disable wallpaper scrolling. Make sure Wallpaper scrolling is enabled in your home launcher before messing with the Multi-picture Live Wallpaper.

Old thread but had to say thanks and spread the word. No more scrolling wallpaper! I've been searching and searching, lots of other apps that do this but they eat battery, this doesn't! Take any 480x800 wallpaper and it will set it perfectly! It will also crop/resize for you although I prefer using Irfanview on the PC for that. Yes it's adware but ads only appear in settings. Paid version is also available.
Yes old thread however, try sslauncher, you can set different wallpapers per screen and lots of other things.

[Q] Have you heard of Widgetsoid2.x?

How many of you were aware of Widgetsoid2.x's ability to have notification power widgets (if properly configured) with which you can toggle directly from the notification area (like under CM6.1/CM7) without having to toggle the widgets from a separate popup it launches first (like under Power Control Plus, Extended Controls, others)?
Screenshot taken using Widgetsoid2.x on Ginger-Tazz-Sense b3.
Not really a fan of the coloration of the notification icons. I like the widget controls however.

Me neither, for the notification area I had to color the icons black to be able to see them well (the background doesn't change no matter what in the notification area it seems) and set them to highlighted all the time (unless that was one of the other apps I tried). It definitely would be nice if the icons were more easily customizable - other apps were able to change the color of individual icons, and individual "active" indicators at the bottom.
The one-click notification control was definitely the winning factor for me.
yup, I liked the notification widget when I wasnt using CM7....it comes in handy
Other downfall is WiFi by and god just open the settings. Unless I'm mistaken.

Yeah, that would definitely be a bummer. I would probably use a combination of Widgetsoid2.x and another app in order to provide 1-click for WIFI in that situation.
I'm using Ginger-Tazz-Sense (beta 3 but beta 7 is out now) and this newer Sense interface already has some built-in toggles in the notification/status area, so I don't bother using Widgetsoid2.x for WIFI and some other things.
Check out my screenshot (fixed, ImageShack seems to have a problem with a period in the picture filename I had previously) in my first post ^ to see the second tab at the bottom of the status area, that's where the new Sense's built-in toggles are. Sure you have to make one more click to select that tab but it's still fast.
Yeah I am running beta 5 right now having the minor white screen but if i keep enough ram open i have no issue
this looks pretty neat. thanks

If you have any trouble configuring it the way you think it should work shoot me a message.
In general, it appears you have to keep the option checkmarked at first to open notification widgets as a separate popup which you then click on the widget you want from there. After that first time, THEN you can uncheck the open as popup option and it appears to work just fine from the notification/status area after that.
ye, i have never heard of this before,
but it looks clean and clear in a glance

[info]How to enable AOSP lockscreen

I'm sure that a lot of you know this already, and also that most of you enjoy the Sense 3.0 lockscreen. However, in case any of you wanted the simplicity of the AOSP lockscreen, here is a simple way to do it. With the Evo 4G it was the same way, but you needed to use the AOSP clock for the alarm to function properly. So far I've had no issues with it here, I'm able to unlock the screen and click dismiss, and the alarm turns off. So I've had no problems using it yet. If you have a screen lock or whatever, you'll need to enter it to unlock before being able to dismiss. That is good, to ensure you're really awake, lol.
Using Root Explorer or any other root level file manager, such as ES File Explorer, navigate to the /system/app folder. Scroll down to HtcLockScreen.apk, and rename it to HtcLockScreen.bak (I prefer to rename change the file extension to .bak so the app disables, in case I choose to go back to it, it's as simple as changing it back to .apk and rebooting). Once the HTC lockscreen is disabled, you're left with the stock AOSP lockscreen, which is there all along. Don't forget to make sure Root Explorer is mounted as R/W before doing that. Once done, reboot. You should then have the AOSP lockscreen.
EDIT: And btw, I'm currently not using the Rosie launcher. I'm using the stock gingerbread launcher, so I'm unsure if or how this will affect using Rosie. Report back if there are any problems with that, so others know. Thanks.

Awesome. As cool as the animated weather lockscreen is I think that whole ring thing is just stupid. It's ugly and not very intuitive. Not to mention it is not smooth at all.
But I gotta ask, how do you use the stock GB launcher? I've tried but the app drawer is always in oriented wrong...

I'm using the launcher from the Supra rim thread. He has an apk attached. I haven't had ant issues with it. The apologize drawer doesn't have that "rounded scroll " effect when you scroll it, if that's what you mean. Otherwise it works great.

I thought so too at first. But a month and change in (for the most part) and I found that I almost never used those shortcuts. I'm talkin' single digits here...perhaps countable on one hand....the weather is really cool, but, that ring...I'm all like "what?" But, as usual around here, to each his own.
Thank god for the stock lock screen...thanks OP

It is a good lock screen. But either way it's always best to have options.
I'm now trying to switch to the AOSP lockscreen. Works fine when I rename the htclockscreen.apk file but... I'd sure like a way to turn off the menu button which completely defeats the entire lock system. Reason I want to switch is that HTC still doesn't know how to make a lock screen that doesn't constantly pocket answer. Sense 3.0 is no better. So the AOSP lockscreen would do the job: if I could disable the menu button so that pressing menu does nothing (like it should). Anyone know how to disable the menu button on the lockscreen? Would also be nice to turn off the haptic garbage when sliding the slider too.
Any info? I found a flash for the Evo 4G that disables the menu button on the lockscreen but it involved replacing a .jar file in the framework folder. I'm thinking an Evo 4G file in there would probably not be compatible with the Evo 3D so we probably need our own file, right?
Thanks,
Mike
Hell yeah. Just what I've been looking for. Thanks. Works great!
is there any way to do the opposite?
use aosp throughout the whole rom
but have the htcsenselockring?
sorry if it had already been asked.
Guess I'm stuck with the HTC lockscreen answering in my pocket. You lose too much using the AOSP lockscreen:
(1) Caller ID on lockscreen: have to unlock to see who is calling and after that, there's no way to relock before you put it back in your pocket: pressing the power button disconnects the call. Smart!
(2) Menu button completely overrides the lock. Again... SMART!
(3) Idiotic haptic feedback while sliding the lock.
Just wish HTC would do it right. All they'd have to do is offer a side to side or different type of unlock as an option. Screen Suite actually works pretty well but you have two choices of a lock slider: iPhone (don't get me started) and a stupid cartoony spaceship that looks completely ghey. Sigh... this should be SIMPLE!

There is a ROM that has that, it has the sense lock screen but an ASOP look. Sadly I forgot which one it was since I flash like every other day.
Edit: Its Project ROM.
The easiest way to get the AOSP lockscreen instead of Sense imo is just go into Titanium Backup, go to Backup/Restore tab, scroll down to HTC Lockscreen(not sure of the name of the actual app but it is obvious and has HTC Lockscreen in the name), uninstall it and then reboot your phone and you will have AOSP lockscreen.
I used this method but now when my screen is off and I receive a call, I have to unlock the screen, but it only displays the red end button as if I am already in a call. It does not allow me to answer the call. Any remedy to this? Thanks

Random Thought in regards to the Clock/Weather widget from HTC

Dont get me wrong I like the clock/weather widget. But am I the only one that thinks HTC went overboard on the weather Icon size ? If its cloudy or anything like that the damn icon covers up weather condition (or part of it) and covers up part of the Temp outside.
I disagree. I love the full screen animations. If u dont like them or the sounds, all u have to do is turn them off. Htc gives u a bunch of clocks and ever a seperate weqther widgwt. Dont hapte having options.

OP wasn't talking of the animations. He is talking about the weather conditions icons under the clock. When cloudy, the clouds do cover up and somewhat hide the temperature info.
I like the dock mode but the big thing that really bothers me is the capacitive buttons stay on amd are bright as hell. Shish they turned off in dock mode or atleast dimmed to the screens brightness.
Opps thought op ment dock mode my bad

[Q] CRT animation on Phone-Bricker 2.0.1

On Phone-Bricker 2.0.1 I've noticed the CRT off animation doesn't always work correctly. After the animation plays, the screen will sometimes flash quickly before going completely dark.
This might be a common issue (there's some discussion in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1505230), but is there any way to fix this? If not, is there an easy way to disable the CRT animation?
I noticed this with SHOstock2. I'm not a fan of the CRT animation in general (I always disable it), so I wasn't 100% sure GB wasn't the same. I'm expecting issues like this for a while in the ICS builds. I don't think any of the devs have posted a disable zip yet.

I'm not a huge fan either, but I don't mind it as long as it works properly
I guess I'll have to live with it until I can find a disable zip

I too am anxious to get rid of the CRT off from Shostock2. Always strikes me as overly flashy, ala HTC Sense UI (though I believe it actually originated with Motorola)

I don't even have CRT off modded yet.
So I assume you have a theme from the i9100 section, only way to turn it off is to remove the theme or wait for me to make a restore file when I add CRT.
But this is a common issue with ICS.
I found a way to turn off the CRT animation. It probably turns off other animations, but I can't notice what else changed.
Settings > Developer options > Window animation scale > animation is off.
The transition animations are different, and can be left on.

Ah sorry I didn't mean to blame you
CRT off must be from Vertumus's theme then. I'll look for how to disable it over in his thread.

I think that setting affects window animation speed. Try setting it to 10x, then try opening some menus or adding a widget to your homescreen. You should see the menus appear a lot slower now.

Just set windows animation scale to 0.5x. In cm9, this disabled crt effect and increased other "window animations" by 2x. But in reality almost all other animations are "transition animations" so you won't even notice any difference.

Setting it to 0.5 will not double the times, it will half them. Its a multiplier vs a divisor. But yeah, it seems the Transition animation is the vast majority of animations.

Its random sometimes it doesn't happen to me all day then the next day it happens every screen off.
Yeah, I got up this lovely Easter morning, and I am getting the flash back on the animation, I shouldn't have said anything. I did notice my problem is only when I am on the lockscreen, hit the power button, check the time or whatever, then hit power again to sleep, THAT'S when I get the flash, if I am on any other screen and want to sleep the screen, I don't get the flash back. Maybe it has something to do with the lockscreen...
BY THE WAY, LiLChris, you are the effing man, thanks so much for this bad ass rom!
