stuck on boot screen after trying to root my X10. - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all..
I was trying to root my device (using FlashTool), but after doing the step when you have to hold "Back" button and turn the device on (while FlashTool is still running), it just lost the ability to launch Android properly and instead it gets stuck on boot screen (black background with white "Sony Ericsson") and I'm not able to continue rooting my device afterwards..!
Any idea why? I did the same just yesterday and got the same problem ,so I had to restore system using SEUS tooll, but I still need to root my phone, any comment is welcome and thanks in advance for everybody..
I was following the instruction mentioned on this link:
www DOT xperiax10 DOT net/2011/09/08/root-your-gingerbread-xperia-x10-tutorial/#comment-31826
And my phone is running GingerBread.

I assume your phone is X10i (if it's X10a let me know)
1.- download stock generic firmware http://minus.com/mAla782XK/1f
2.- download and install flashtool http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
3.- inside flashtool you'll find several folders, unrar your firmware (X10i_3.0.1.G.0.75_1241-1846.ftf ) inside firmware folder, do not connect your phone yet
4.- run flashtool and click on "flash" icon, pick flashmode, then OK
5.- On the left side select your firmware and hit OK (It will say "preparing files for flashing")
6.- A window giving you instruccions will pop up, just press and hold the back button on your phone, connect the USB cable (which is already connected to PC, of course ) and don't let go the button until you read flashtool started to flash
7.- wait 'till it finishes
8.- It will only take a few minutes, the only moment it seems it's stucked is when is flashing "system" , don't worry, it takes a little longer that the other files.
9.- after is done, just unplug, turn it on and wait, don't forget first boot always takes a little longer too!!!!!!
10.- If you want to, use flashtool to root your phone and install xrecovery afterwards, that's it, brand new
Hope it helps and is clear enough, any question just ask, I'm usually here.
Don't forget to hit "thanks" if I was helpful!!

thank you for replying
i can restore my system using SEUS tool like i did yesterday But i also want to root my X10, so were those steps meant only to restore my system or also to root my device ?
thanks in advance

I got that same problem when I tried to root my phone. Apparently I had forgotten to enable USB debugging on my phone before beginning the process..you can resolve it by clicking on flash in the flashtool and selecting kernel upgrade..your phone will boot after that. Then close flashtool and restart the process with USB debugging enabled. I did this and it worked for me

thank you very much
i did enable USB debugging and i repeated the process but unfortunately i faced the same problem i stuck on boot screen "black background with white "Sony Ericsson" text" i assumed that its default to stay on this screen for a while but i Waited for several minutes and nothing happened..
any idea why ? and what i have to do in order to root properly ?
thank in advanced.

Which version of flashtool r u using...
Xperia X10[LB, DoomV06-FS with FeraV19]

First upadate ur phone using SEUS..
Or(if the above don't work)
flash it using flashtool( put ur desired firmware in firmware folder and then flash)
Use the latest flashtool(0.7.1. something) just one click to root ur phone using this flashtool.
Click on the second folder from left(padlock) in flashtool.. Ur phone vl b rooted.
For installing xrecovery click on the second from right folder( plus symbol)
Take the desired one and install it..
When a door is closed definitely there will b another door in open..
For all first u should have COURAGE.

Relax. Be confident.
Restore your phone with SEUS first.
And then use this method to root your phone :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319653
Other methods involve confusing things. While rooting through this method, remember a few things :
(1) make sure u have installed adb drivers for ur device
(2) enable "USB DEBUGGING"
from (Menu\Settings\Applications\Development)
(3) enable "UNKNOWN SOURCES"
from (Menu\Settings\Applications)
(4) make sure flashtool is not running in the background.
It'll root your phone with just one click.
Then you can download xrecovery through flashtool.

i try to Upgrade Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 to Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich with MIUI 4, based from this site: www dot androidauthority dot com/xperia-x10-ics-miui-4-50791/
but i'm failed to flash the kernel data, maybe because i'm still newbie in this thing
after i turn on my phone it get stuck on black screen like arch.ahmed90 i try to waiting for a long time, almost 1 hour. but nothing happen my screen stuck at sony ericsson logo.
But the real problem is that my usb doesn't work now and i cannot connect the X10i to my computer. Is there a way to fix it?, i already read from other post but that doesn't help my problem.

[Q] help me!!!

i already install 1 of this custom rom (froyo), and this is the first time i tried, n after i install it, my phone stuck at SONY ERICSSON LOGO and restart again and again by itself...how do i resolve this...please anyone!!!
Use Sony Ericsson Update Service to reflash the phone to stock then try again making sure you install the custom rom correctly
And when you install the custom rom, before you reboot the device do a full system wipe as I had the same problem because I never done that

Solution
Install Sony Ericsson PC Companion. There is an option which allows you to update your phone, where there's also an option to repair it. Be advised that ALL your personal information (contacts, sms, mms, calendar) will be deleted. I hope you get your phone back.
If you want to install new custom ROMs, try following the procedure step by step. I have failed the first time (got the reboot loop), but then I have successfully updated my phone.
if you can't boot to recovery try this:

Yes.But there is a agree option i cannot mark that.Is any thing wrong with my fone???
Mmm... I don't know. I successfully managed to install exMIUI and MiniCMSandwich without using the touchscreen. I don't think CyanogenTimescape has a different installer, but you should aske in the proper ROM thread. Anyway, I'll probably try to install it today... I'll let you know.
When select boxes surges in aroma installer you have first to selct that box, and for that you don't use the touchscreen but the volume +/-!
And to select that box you have to click the volume + key, and when in the box, you can select the option you want with the volume -/+, and then returns down to the "next" button.
I think is that you are asking, and if so, there is nothing wrong with your touchscreen!

i unlocked the bootloader of my st15i phone then proceed on rooting my device
i manage to downgrade it to GB from ICS with no problem at all
i flash NEROICS but i didnt notice that this ROM already includes aroma on it
meaning to say i put in NEROICS ROM and AROMA installer separately on my sdcard
i managed to flash NEROICS ROM with no problem at all then i restarted my device and went to CWM to flash AROMA installer
it asked me to calibrate the screen which i did then all of a sudden calibration fails
so the screen didn't respond as expected now and the only thing which i can do toi set it up is to use the vol up and down and the menu key
after setting it up still the screen didn't work as expected
i tried formatting the system dalvic cache sd card etc via cwm and try putting in new ROM but still the same
i choose to relock the bootloader and put back the stock ROM hoping that PC companion or SEUS might fix the problem with my screen

Flashing via flashtool doesn't need you to turn your phone on.So,Download an official firmware from the thread "daydu19: has given and try to flash with flashtool. Flashtool needs your phone to be off and volume down key pressed when you connect your phone to your PC. If it fails, try "6. Turning the "brick" into a smartphone" from the thread. On most screens, one time volume up ends you on the 'next' button, so when you press the power button, you progress to the next screen.

Don't destroy it!!
With the following procedure you'll unbrick the phone but unfortunately you will lose all data stored there (the sdcard is not affected though!).
0) Physically disconnect the phone from the USB (if it's connected) and turn it off (remove the battery if it's stuck).
1) Go to Google, search for "Sony Ericsson Update Service" (SEUS) and download it. (I can't post links because I don't have 10 posts yet..)
2) Install SEUS and start it up. It will update itself on first start.
3) Once SEUS is done updating itself, click on "I hereby accept the license agreement" and then click on "Start".
4) Select your phone from the list and then click "Next".
5) While the phone is turned off, press the back button (ONLY!) and keep it pressed.
6) While keeping the back key pressed, connect the phone to the computer (USB).
7) Don't let go from the back button unless SEUS tells you to.
8) Once SEUS detects your phone, click on "Install". Click "Yes" to let it start the flashing process.
9) Wait for SEUS to finish. Do NOT remove the USB from the phone unless the process is completed (it might take a while for it to download the rom and flash it onto the phone).
10) Once SEUS is finished, remove the phone from the USB and start it up (it might take a while to start up).
It will be running on stock 2.1 Eclair ROM, with stock kernel (no root, no cwm/recovery). As good as new!
Please post back with results! Don't destroy the poor thing!

Look again and you will notice that SEUS gives you the option to proceed anyway.
Just press the button and the process will go on...
Solved
Well, I don't know if SEUS will continue or not.
After some ours trying, I've managed to solve it.
I had to download a stock kernel/ROM and flash it with flashtool. Wasn't easy cause I couldn't find a suitable one. I had to create it.
It's 200mb. If someone wants it, tell me how to post it.

[Q] Problem to get root after unlocking bootloader

Dear All,
I have a Sony Xperia U (European).
I used the update service to first competely update the phone to stock 4.0.4 (6.1.1.B.1.54)
Then I did the procedure to get the key and unlock the bootloader. That all worked fine.
Then I tried to do the root of the backup and restore. But I understand that doesn't work anymore.
So I found the following:
1. Flash ics 6.1.1.b.1.10 Kernel
2. Root with flashtools
3. Flash ics 6.1.1.b.1.54 Kernel
I have the drivers installed from the Flashtool folder. And the fastboot mode and flashboot drivers work in order.
After flashing the older kernel with the Flashtool the phone reboots and after that I when it boots everything become distorted and unresponsive.
I can see part of the OS and try to touch and 'something' will happen. But it doesn't seem to be normal.
The only thing I can do then is use the flashtool to relock the bootloader and then the update service to reflash back to stock again.
I have first search the whole subforum and read everything. But I can't seem to fine something about this.
Am I missing something?
The screen does go dark and awful using the older kernel. Just let it take its time to load and u can just about make out the screen to use the root tool. Although.... If you're bootloader unlocked just fastboot an auto rooting kernel

Phone Died?
Well for some reason the phone doesn't turn on anymore.
I thought I 'overdrained' it, so I put it all night long to charge it. But this morning still the same and it won't turn on.
The small red led just right of the camera lits up when I connect the charger so he sees something but what?
Cannot get in flash or fastboot mode. However sometimes I see the phone out of itself turn on the illumination bar (green) for just a few seconds.
The phone itself does nothing. But I'm thinking of a brick, unless someone else has some ideas?
Take these steps...may help

Try this...
1. Take out the battery and sim and leave it for minutes...then take in the sim and then battery.
2. connect the phone to a charger and wait for minimum 25 seconds and see what happenes...if some positive response you get...leave it charging as it is for some time minimum half hour.
[Before doing 3rd step download latest stock firmware 6.1.1.C.1.0 for your phone.(Please be sure for thats a stock original firmware)] - Search It-> [Stock ROM] Firmware 6.1.1.C.1.0 FTF ICS Xperia U - T-Mobile (Croatia)
3. connect your phone with the pc in flashmode and flash this firmware.
4. After flashing Restart the phone and wait for the setup and then you get then the power off button on your mobile screen, power off it.
5. Download TheBrains Recovery - Search it [Its a kernel having CWM Recovery Prerooted]
6. Now connect your phone in fastboot mode [While connecting your phone to pc press and hold Volume Up button]
7. Select a kernel to flash [Kernel that you downloaded just now]
8. After flashing unplug usb and restart your phone, when Sony logo appears and phone vibrates press Volume Up button again and again then you will come to CWM Recovery Menu.
9. Then from recovery wipe cache. and wipe dalvich cache [In advance option]
10. Now restart your phone and wait...and leave it for 5 mins.
11. Now your phone is updated and prerooted safely and smoothly... and yes ready for installing any stock based ROM or Custom ROM[which are based on latest C.1.0 firmware].

Thanks for your input.
Unfortunately I cannot do step 3.
He just will not go into flashmode, tried different cables but that doesn't work. He won't go into fastboot either.
I've taken out the battery and sim for 5 days. Just to be sure . But I'm thinking it's bricked. This has never happened to me before.
I have unlocked and flashed many phones (mostly HTC's and Samsungs), but this is a first with Sony, hmm and first time a brick.

I had the same problem while rooting my phone too.
Follow These:
1.Install the latest PC Companion on your computer. It auto updates if you have it installed on your computer.
2.Download the kernels 6.1.b.1.10 and 6.1.b.1.54 and Flashtool. Make sure you have usb debugging on even before you flash the kernels.
3. With the help of flashtool flash your phone on .10 kernel reboot. The launcher might turn black and become unresponsive so enable usb debugging before flashing itself.
4. Start your phone after flashing .10 and connect to your computer.
5.Start Bin4ry v17 or v18. It a cmd file developed by a dev on xda. Just search for it. Rooting via flashtool wont work. Use Bin4ry
6. Press 1 and follow the steps. after the phone finishes rooting it it'll restart and confirm it.
7. Switch off your phone and flash 54 kernel
8. Pretty sure it'll work!

I need help.....
I've been using the stock rom on my xperia play and randomly my Google apps stopped working (google play, Gmail etc) so i searched around and saw that people factory resetted and tried signing into google accs using youtube but none of that worked for me. So i decided to flash a custom rom onto my phone and i got CWM for my phone and downloaded CyanogenMod 9.1.0 for my phone. I used x-parts to reboot into recovery and did the standard procedure for flashing and i got error status 7. So I checked that up and saw that I had change a file into text and delete a few lines to stop this. I did that and then flashed the rom onto my phone and it got stuck so I pulled my battery out and now my phones bricked it just stays on the white sony erricson text part. I'd do the flashtool thing but my fastboot drivers just dont seem to work so it keeps aborting the flash. Please help!
worked as it should thanks very much!
