Make nandroid backup? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, i can't seem to make a nandroid backup on my P7510 it just gets stuck at the part where its making the backup
Any ideas guys, and I'm looking to move to the task rom....do i really need to have the nandroid backup?

what rom are you flashing btw? use odin to flash a new CWM and try that. if that doesnt work i would recommend nixing the backup and flash task's rom. make sure you follow his instructions tho, its not to complicated. His roms are the most stable out there.

[Q] Clone one phone to a new one. Nandroid bacup?

I'm getting my second G2. What is the easiest way to make the second one a copy of the first one? Nandroid restore to the second one after rooting it?
Or will this fail because of wrong imei or other identities on the second one?
If so, does anyone have a solution for an easy way to make a clone?
why not make a backup of your efs-folder, recover the nandroid backup and AFTER this recover the efs?
i think it aould work...
i think restoring a cwm backup should work.

ok, that's faster and one less step, but i think it's safer to have a backup from the efs

[Q]backing up the rom with cwm

Hi
I want to install a costume Rom on my phone
but first I want to make a backup of my stock rom (just in case)
I found a backup option in the CWM app
so i need to know:
dose this option backs up only the Rom or will it back up the kernel also?
Are there better ways to backup the rom?
in general what does the "create a backup" option do? (in CWM in mean)
thanks in advance
best regards
backs up all but not the EFS and Modem

the backup option will backup every thing on you system and data partition but not the kernel and modem..
there is no better way than this..
correct me if I am wrong:
1-the backup options backs up my data (such as save data for games) too
2-if I want to restore to my stock firmware, this backup WON'T do it properly since it won't restore the kernel

It backups everything including kernel except modem and efs. So if you restore it back you will have your stock kernel there

As Bala said Kernel is backed up..so I may be wrong here..but I read somewhere that kernel is not backed up..so anyways..you will have the stock kernel if I am wrong..
the games data is stored on your internal sdcard..so it wont be backed up..and in between if require a factory reset it will be lost..
thanks guys
you helped me so much (and fast)
and one more thing i remembered right now:
the backup will be a CWM flashable zip file.right?

To restore you go to backup and restore and select restore(from internal or external sd card) depending on where the back up was created.

[Q] Flashing roms

Hello all,
I am kind of new to rooting. I've owned my S3 for like 4 months but only just now did I decide to root it... I've already installed a custom rom and i couldn't be happier, it's Wanamlite 5.3.
Now I would like to try different roms, such as UltimaRom, as it has a far better Aroma installer with much more customization.
But I've got a question... ¿Do i need to wipe all my data in order to flash the other rom on top of Wanamlite?
Cheers.
You might get lucky and be just fine flashing it on top, but there's a very good chance you'll get a lot of problems. In fact, it probably won't boot at all. So it's always good to do a wipe before switching ROMs. Backup your data and apps in Titanium

Yeah... I'll most likely end up doing that.
Anyway, I was reading the instructions in the UltimaRom post and they mention that you should make a NANDroid Backup using CWM. What is the purpose of this backup? I mean, with Titatanium you can restore your apps, but what kind of data does NANDroid Backup save and restore?
Cheers.

Nandroid backup if i am right is like a boot image of your phone when you do the backup, so if things go wrong it will restore the phone with everything you had at the point of backup

Does a full backup also restore xposed?

Hello everyone. I am currently on AOSP 5.1.1 rooted and xposed. I am thinking about going to cm13. I have done a full backup of all things from TWRP Recovery. If I then restore this backup, will root access and xposed be restored too? Please help.

Yes
A nandroid backup of all partitions, which can exclude internal storage and SD card, will restore the OS to the exact same state. I mean, really exact state. Only the system time, which of course can't be stored, is changed when you restore backup. Everything else, like apps and their data is as it is, untouched.
