[Q] Ematic eGlide XL Pro 2: need root how-to - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm not exactly a total noob - I have used the XDA forums to hack my HTC Dash to upgrade to Win Mobile 6.5 (Tmobile version was 6.1). But I've lost my login info for that account, so....
Just bought a Tablet: the Ematic eGlide XL Pro 2 with ICS. It seems like I am going to need to root the device to run the apps I need.
I've searched these forums and Googled my butt off; I have yet to find a clear answer as to how to root a device that an advanced hacker hasn't made a specific root process for the specific device.
I've seen "Universal Root" apps and/or instructions: all well and good, but always referring to Ginger or Frodo - never for ICS.
I paid $169.99 at walmart online (free shipping). I expected a very rough P.O.S., but the Ematic eGlide XL Pro 2 is surprisingly good! The screen is great; very clear and use-able at most angles and in bright lighting. Very responsive, runs all the apps I've installed, etc. For the price it's incredible! And it was delivered 3 days after I ordered!
Only problem I've had has been using the usb connection on my work laptop (Win 7 Home): for whatever reason it drained the battery rather than recharging it! Recharges on my own laptop (Win 7 Ultimate). Plus the supplied usb cable is very cheap quality. Otherwise it's an awesome "Starter Tablet".
If anyone wants to tackle this as a project, I'll share as much data about the device as I can. At $170 for a 10 inch ICS tablet with current HW? They are going to sell a lot of them!
I'm not asking for myself: I expect I'll have this resolved by Memorial Day. I just offer to share the data to give back to the XDA developers who work so hard to bring us all such awesome stuff!!! Thanks to you all...
A link to a universal rooting app or instructions is all I really need. I can burn a Linux boot disk for my home laptop and run Ubuntu (or whatever the advised version is these days). Def don't want to dual-boot my laptop, and rather not mess about with a Virtual Linux install.
Any ideas? Links to tutorials?

HELP!!! Anyone? Need ICS root how-to
Well, it is the first holiday weekend of summer; but I'm surprised that I haven't gotten even a single response. Not even a "Why didn't you read this?" post and link. Not what I expected from my past experiences here.
I am rethinking how popular the Ematic eGlide XL Pro 2 is going to be. With a 10 inch screen, 1G ram, current HW and ICS for $170? Sounds like a no-brainer. But most people probably want a completely set up device: the Fire, the Nook, the Galaxy. Most people may not want to deal with a second-rate app store and having to root a device.
I still need to though. I hate to pay for an app, but it looks like that's the only way I will ever get Google Play on this thing. I have the modded apk and the instructions for installing it. (A big thanks to the XDA member who created it and the members who added posts to the thread!!!) But no root access.
If anyone reads this and can point me to a method for rooting a brand new ICS device, please reply!

Before rooting you would need a bootloader for this device. Maybe you could make a post asking for a bootloader and ask if anyone has the same device. Maybe you could also ask if any developers on xda have this device and if they are planning on doing development on this device. Be patient its a new device and in time something will come up. Owning Android devices and waiting for development is something we all deal with no matter what device we own. Waiting for bootloaders, OC Kernels, source codes, root, custom roms etc is just part of owning a droid.

Just curious - what resolution is the screen on this device?

Rooted At Last!!!
Not sure if it was my installing Android Commander or using Superoneclick; or if it came pre-rooted. Had many frustrating moments with it. Restored it to default about 3 times (definitely once since running SuperOneclick). Android Commander finally informed me it was, indeed, rooted.
Superuser and Titanium Backup STILL failed to run though. So I finally downloaded the SU binary, installed it in the proper folder (copied over existing one) and had to run CHmod for right permissions. Not a big fan of the command line, but if pushed hard enough I use it. Now SU updates and runs properly!
Still haven't re-installed Titanium yet, but I'm guessing the 'Can't gain root access' will not be a problem.
Not sure of the resolution: will check when I get out of work and post some specs. It's certainly clear enough, has a gyroscope and accelerometer, is responsive. App store still sucks, not going to try the Google Play Mod again so it's Amazon for me.
Don't rely on the posted specs; they are from various vendors, not from Ematic. I def have 1 Gig RAM, and the screen resolution is very good. I'll see what I can pull off the device later....
For $170 and free shipping? Not bad....

How did you root... can you explain in short so that I can at least get google play on this thing! Thanks!

Ematic eGlide XL PRO 2 rooted, Google Play store installed
Here are the steps I used to create and install a driver for my Ematic eGlide XL PRO 2 tablet so that I could root the blasted thing and install the Google Play Store.
I called Ematic customer service before starting this mess, and they said that they do not provide downloadable drivers for any of their tablets, and that there were no plans to. This is a big DIY job, but it was totally worth it. After fixing the driver problem, I was easily able to root the tablet using SuperOneClick, and I was also easily able to install the Google Play Store and SetCPU. The tablet runs faster now and feels much more stable. And, after installing ICS Browser + from the Play store, the tablet now kicks a little bit of ass.
I did this on a machine running Windows Vista (32-bit).
I guess at this point you should check out the general instructions about rooting to prepare the tablet (USB Debugging has to be turned on in the Android settings, for example). You can do everything indicated but install the driver, since it doesn't officially exist.
1) Connect the tablet with a USB cable and let the driver installation fail.
2) Open the Windows device manager and look up the device ID for the tablet.
a. In the device manager, my tablet showed up as Android Tablet or Android Phone
b. Right-click on it and open the Properties window.
c. In the Details tab of the Properties window, change the Property to “Hardware Ids”.
d. Make a note of these Ids for later (I only needed one of them, see the code I added below).
3) Eject the tablet (safely remove the hardware).
4) Download and install the Android SDK (http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html)
5) Follow the instructions here (http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/adding-packages.html) to install the right packages once you have downloaded and installed the SDK.
a. I installed SDK tools (required), Android 4.0.3 API 15 (for my tablet), and the Google USB Driver (in the extras section). You can see what version of ICS is running in the tablet by looking in the tablet settings.
6) Once all of the packages are installed, navigate to the file android_winusb.
a. My android_winusb file was located in the following folder: /my_user_account/Local/Android/android-sdk/extras/google/usb_driver
At this point you have to manually add an entry to the android_winusb file for the eGlide XL PRO 2 using the device ID found in step 2. (There are two sections in the android_winusb file, one for 32-bit Windows ([Google.NTx86]) and one for 64-bit Windows ([Google.NTamd64]). Since I am running 32-bit Vista, I only added an entry for my tablet to the 32-bit section.)
7) Open android_winusb in a text editor and add an entry in the section relevant to your system using the following syntax (insert your device id where indicated):
;eGlide XL PRO II
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, YOUR_DEVICE_ID_HERE
For my tablet, I added the following entry to the file:
;eGlide XL PRO II
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_18D1&PID_0003&REV_0230&MI_01
Two device ID numbers were given in the properties window of the device manager. I used the longer one.
8) Save the changes and close the file.
9) When I connected my tablet with a USB cable again, Vista managed to find the driver automatically, but you might have to let the driver installation fail again so that you can point Vista to the location of the driver manually (see step 6a for the location). I did have to accept the installation, since the author (me) was untrusted by Vista.
After the driver was installed, I used SuperOneClick to root the tablet. I pressed the Root button once, and the Allow Non-Market Apps button once, and the tablet was rooted (no problem at all for me here, SuperTwoClick, I guess.)
Then I restarted the tablet.
I downloaded the Google Play apk from xda-developers here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582422
I emailed the non-modded apk to myself, saved it to my SD card and installed it from the /download directory with no problem. Since the “non-supported” eGlide XL PRO 2 doesn't have the Google Play store pre-installed, I didn't have to do anything funky like rename the file. I just installed it like any other app.
The store didn't open properly until I restarted the tablet again.
After this I installed SetCPU (downloaded from xda-developers) and the ICS Browser + from the Google Play store, and now the tablet rocks. It seems noticeably faster now and much more stable than when I first bought it.
I made this guide from memory, so I hope I didn't leave anything out. Send me a private message if you have any questions.

Whoa... That is A LOT to read... and frankly... IM F**KING EXCITED TO FINALLY HAVE SOMETHING TO WORK OFF OF!!!! I may have time to do this tomorrow... either way... thank you sooooo much for helping me out. I cannot wait to get around the blasted eMatic crap!

Ok... so I read everything... and it seemed quick... so I did it... everything exactly as you said... no issues... except when all said and done... Play was still crashing... so I figured I would factory wipe/reset to stock... and do all over again with the super one click root and then allow market apps... but super one click is now hanging up at allow non market apps... so I'm not sure what to do... when it asked to do a test after rooting... the sending of su request... did you do that? and if so... did anything pop up on your tablet... because nothing did for me...
then I hit allow non market button and super one click hangs... to where I have to force close on my pc...
I am using 64 bit win 7... but the driver is not the issue... super one click seems to not be doing what it says its doing
any ideas?

The settings I changed
You're experience sounds a lot more like my previous experiences with SuperOneClick. This was the first time that it went right for me the first time round, and I honestly can't tell you what I did differently. It still took two clicks though.
I did change a few settings in the tablet afterwards too, like allowing it to accept non-market apps in the system settings.
I also erased all of the instances of my my google account (from sync and my email client and youtube) and then I re-entered it after installing the store. Maybe that helped?
If I think of anything else I did, I will post again. Wish I could be of more assistance.

No worries..... I'm pretty savvy with rooting and such... so I think I can get it to work
new plan:
factory reset & reboot
super one click & reboot
allow non-market apps reboot
accept non-market apps in seetings and install play and reboot
try play again...
if that doesn't work... I'm going to be a little dismayed LOL.
Thanks again

Where is the ematic store app?
I also wanted to get rid of the ematic store, but I couldn't find it. I figured at first that if I left it in that it might interfere with the Google Play store. In the end it didn't seem to have an effect. I still would like to get rid of it though, on principle. Any idea where it is hiding in the system?
Thanks.

Man, no luck again...
installed, rebooted, input my google info, asked me to joint google +, enter credit card... everything was fine
then when it went to load a pop-up loads saying "market is becoming google play store"
and when I hit continue... thats when the crash hits: "Unfortunately, Google Play Store has Stopped"
in fact, that is where it always crashes first time...
after that, every load is pretty much same... loading circle goes for a few seconds, then "stopped"
and I can see the terms of service underneath it... which I want to "Accept" so badly thinking that will change everything
that is where I am at right now... kinda blows because I followed instructions to the T, but results are not the same... hmmmm
gonna have to try different apk... maybe the modded one and then some other one...

Got stuck there too, but only a couple of times
I had that problem the first few times I tried to run the Play store after the install, and I though I was done, but restarting the tablet fixed everything.
I was really burned up too, you can see underneath the error message that Play recognizes your log in information, but that something in the tablet is stopping you. Frustrating.
I should have a chance to play with the thing again later after work, to figure out if I did anything else to make it work.

SU is definitely on there, and allow non-market apps did apparently work... so super one click (two click) did what it was supposed to do... but the XL Pro 2 is not having it with Google Play... many reboots and no luck...
wondering if it is the app I'm flashing... used the one you posted as that is the one I had tried long before this whole process... wondering if there is a better apk...
was super excited, now I'm back to being frustrated! Very jealous of you right now! LOL

Google play newer build?

I am pretty sure that I installed from the 3.5.16 apk link, because I remember all of the instructions that I ended up just ignoring, but just to be sure I checked the build number on the version of Google Play running in my tablet, and it was newer (3.7.13). I didn't notice if my tablet updated after the install, or if in a blur of downloading and installing I pulled a more recent Google play apk off of xda-developers without realizing on accident.
Anyway, I found this link on here, which is to the apk of the latest build, the one installed in my tablet that is working. Maybe this helps?

Stay strong! :good:

one more thing, all of my apps are automatically updating, not something I usually do, but the tablet is for my mom...

No way... this tablet is for my mom too...
What a trip lol

Too many market apps not available, please help

First of all, my Photon is rooted and I used a couple of the updates from the photon android development forums.
It is getting to where there are just too many market apps that I can not download. Some come up as not compatable (while I'm 100% sure they are compatable) and others just straight up don't show. It gets real interesting when I go to the android market on the web and try to get the apps.
The android market thinks that I have 2 Moto photons. One of the 2 photons, it will in fact allow me to send some of these incompatable apps to and the one that google SEES me on is "not compatable". I guess the market thinks my phone became a new phone when I did one of the updates. But yet this new photon is not compatable with many apps.
I was using my Acer Iconia tab to help me get some of these apps to my Photon, especially some of the ones I purchased. But now, I have 2 Iconia tabs too (even though the second one is again, the same device.)
Is there anything I can do? I loved Android since the day it came out. But it's getting to where I almost don't want it. I need an outlet to get apps but I don't want to ask people to upload apks. I know about the amazon market but not every app is there.
Is this a brand based problem? Cause though I love the Photon, I would switch in a minute if this wasn't the case. But it's also happening on my Iconia tab and it's happening more and more and one thing I just won't do is start asking if anyone has apks.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
OK, this will take me a minute (if you want a real explantion, or just skip to bottom where I talk about App Brain). I am sorta like you, I'm well over 100 Apps and use SPB 3D Shell to keep them orgainzed.

I use my phones and like to keep them tight. I had and Evo and co-worker turned me on to App Brain. When I got Photon, I was in your position. I went to Market and more or less, installed everything I got individually.
You Sync App Brain, and when you get new phone, like I just did, tell it to put it all back (You still have to go to SPB 3D Shell and orgainze it, but it give you a start!)
Want more protection? Root it and get Titaniaum Backup, paid version!!! Backup all your crap each monday at 3:00AM (you know my schedule now), hook the phone up to computer as HD and move backup to your computer or USB drive (its not small!). If something ever happens to your phone, get titaniaum from market and use THAT backup to restore. The good thing about the paid version, not only will it put your app's back, it puts them back with the last configuration!!! Done!!!
Thank you for responding. But I do not believe that this helps. I already use Titanium Backup of course. But App Brain is just a market browser that still ultimately takes you to the market to download apps does it not? And the market will still list them as incompatable.
This is not going to let me download new versions of, for example, Swiftkey X, LCD Density, and even the ChaCha app. I would have to go find a friend who has a phone that's listed as compatible (even though the Photon IS compatible) and then back it up and transfer it. This makes for licensing problems for apps that I have purchased and I'm certain are compatable.
Because I can get many apps but there are many that I can not get, there is something that many developers do that apparently makes it compable with SOME Motorola Photons as far as the market goes. This is why I could easily download Titanium Backup but I can not download SwiftKey X which I paid for even though it IS compatable.
Can anybody help? I need a way to get apps that are compatible to the photon like swiftkey x onto my photon and the ability to keep them UPDATED. What I do not want is a way to keep them backed up, I already have that. I will switch phone brands if I need to but I absolutely require a phone or a fix for this phone on which this problem does not exist. Otherwise, it's useless to me as apps are updated often sometimes and I want those updates without running onto the net and asking people to please post an apk. Please reply if you have a solution. I am going to scream if I see that banner that says this app is not compatable with your phone again when market.android.com will send it to my older photon (which does not exist by the way. The market just recognizes my photon as a second photon after an update I did from the developer forums). Grrr, don't even want my photon now that the droid razor is out.
have you tried going into manage applications and clearing the data and cache from market. I had some problems with apps that were bought on both amazon and google and this allowed the apps to update from google.
Yes. I have cleared data from the market under manage applications. This does not do it. There are still apps that the android market refuses to let me install. Any such apps do not have an install or download button. Instead, there is just that banner on the very top that says "Your device is not compatible with this item." for many apps ever since I installed one of the updates and since then, I have 2 Photons listed when I look online. One of them, the android market will send these "incompatible apps" to and the other, it won't. Unfortunately, the device that android market will send the apps to is the same device as the one that the market sees as incompatible. It's like after one of the updates, the market reregistered my phone as a different phone. Same thing happened with my Iconia tab.
Does anybody have any ideas?

You try going online and deleting the phones from your google account then log back into the app market and download a simple app so it can register
I've tried. As far as I know, you can't delete devices from your account on the market. You can only hide them from showing up on the menus. But yes, I've done that. It doesn't help.
never mind, i see now'
So is there anything that can be done?
First of all what ROM are you on, what mods(build.prop), and have you wiped google services data?

Oh thank you thank you thank you! (and thank clicked as well!) It was awesome of you to find that. Just to reiterate in case somebody else finds themselves having the same problem, to reiterate so it might come up in a google search for someone:
If you have a Motorola Photon (or many other phones), and over time, you notice that something isn't right with the market and some apps that you always ran are suddenly not compatible any more and perhaps the Android market sees you having several phones, if you changed your screen density with a program such as LCD Density Changer, the android market now will see you coming in with a different phone. For example, according to the Android market, I have a Moto Photon with a density of 240 and a Moto Photon with a density of 280. Perhaps because of the criteria that some app makers chose, some of their apps (like Messagease for instance) may be compatible with a Photon with a density of 240 but not a Photon with the density of 280 (even though they do in fact work just fine).
So, the solution is this. Change your density if you like. But, to get those programs that may become "incompatible", switch the density back to the way that it was out of the box.
Thank you very much for finding this information! It helped a lot!
Glad to help

[HOW-TO] Install apps not showing up in Marketplace

Note: Root access is required in order for this to work.
Since I've found a workaround to install apps not showing up in the marketplace and haven't seen anyone address the issue other than rewriting system files, I thought I'd post this for people who (like me) don't know how to use the first method.
1) search for the app you want on Google in your browser, ie "xxx android"
2) click on the result leading to the Marketplace website (IMPORTANT: be sure to open the link with your browser and not the Market!)
3) click the "Install" button
4) you will be prompted to login, enter your info (you should only have to do this once)
5) this time, choose to open with Market when prompted
6) click the "Install" button and your app will download!
Hope this helps anyone

When I try this method, the search finds the program I'm looking for but as soon as I log in and open with "Market", not the browser, it replies with "Program not found". So I guess it doesn't work for me.
Thanks for the suggestion, anyway.

What app did you try? I can try the same one and see if it works for me. If it does, I'll try to see what went wrong.

It was iBird Pro. It cost money, but just try to get to the point to where it try's to confirm whether or not you really want to pay for it.
Thanks,
rodorr
Its not working for me either which leads me to believe its the app. Go ahead and try another free app just to see if the method even works.

Worked perfectly with Evernote.
Thanks a ton, less hunting for apks now
I checked Evernote, and Evernote shows up as downloadable for the Nook Tablet without using the work around.

Oh, well then... I feel stupid? Edit: I didn't see it when I tried searching for it in the Market app.
Just tried it with Google Maps and no dice.
Ok, I tried AVG Mobilation Anti-Virus Pro, and it came back with something like "Sorry but you can't download because you haven't paid for it" and then I got the good old "! Your device isn't compatible with this item".

there is a newer version I found somewhere but I can't find it now (v6.0.3)

I don't understand how this can work - if apps aren't showing up in the Market on your tablet, surely that's because Market thinks they're not compatible with your NT. And if that's the case, when you sign into your account in the browser, the same thing would happen of not letting you send the app to devices it doesn't think are compatible?
In browser, the Market doesn't even list my NT as one of my devices, even though I'm signed into the Market app on my NT. Any thoughts on this?
I've had this method work twice and fail a couple times. At step 5 when it opens up the market the app still shows as incompatible but it downloads it anyway.
Torrential91, can you give me an example of an app that this worked correctly for you?
rodorr
I just had it work for Real Racing 2 free version.
I tried it with facebook, but there was no download option, just a note saying it was not compatible with my device.
This method was successful in getting to the app page where i could not before.
I tried "Real Racing 2" and it did indeed work for me. It gave me the message "Your device isn't compatible with this item" but it went ahead and downloaded it anyway. So it does work with some items. Maybe it just doesn't work if there is a cost associated with the item.
rodorr
I know Google maps worked for me. I believe Tumblr also worked this way.
Seems like this method is hit or miss. Can't really say why =/ I'm not a dev in any way, just a guy that experiments with trial and error haha.
Maybe a dev can chime in on this?

Not to sound ignorant, but is this on a rooted nt? I put the android market on here and it wouldn't even start up, so i'm assuming this is the case.

Yes you need root access in order to run the Market.

I followed all the steps but when I choose market for the prompt it pops up and says your device isnt compatible with this item. Any ideas?

[Q] Nook Shop not Installing Apps

Ok, so, yes I am a rooted user of the Nook Tablet but before I rooted I purchased some apps on the Nook Shop and thus primarily use that to install and update them rather than pay for them twice and all.
I recently had some issues with one of the apps so I archived it and then unarchived it. Only to find that it would not install again! It just hangs at the "install" tag below the app icon in the Library. I can download books and magazines from the Nook Shop and apps appear to download but hang on the install process.
I am running v1.4.3 and I am pretty sure this must have something to do with my rooting of the device. I really can't imagine going back to a non-rooted device and don't really want to buy the apps again. I have tried this with other apps in the Nook Shop (free ones like Skitch and Evernote) only to find that they do the exact same thing. In fact, any time I want to even update an app that is in the Nook Shop it does this.
I'm really at a loss here.

Since no one else has replied I'll give you a thought. I have never run 1.4.3 so keep that in mind.
My guess is the process you used to root did more than just root and therein lies your problem. I think 1.4.3 may be smarter about changes than previous versions.
Otherwise think of other changes that you may made and not mentioned build.prop, etc.
All of this is just guessing but may give you a new way to look at your problem and find a solution. I have seen this complaint several times but didn't read the posts because I had nothing to offer; maybe you could learn more with a search.
Good Luck!

Polaroid PMID720 and Google Play

Hey, I'm new to the forum and wanted to say thanks in advance for the help and to mention that I searched the forum before posting so I apologize if I've overlooked something.
I recently purchased a Polaroid PMID720 dual core Android 4.1 tablet to keep myself busy at work and I don't have access to the Google Play store, I had purchased a Polaroid PMID701 for my daugher for Christmas and had no problem getting the Google Market installed but so far I haven't been able to do the same with this one. I initially triend installing the older Google Market following the instructions found at the-digital-reader website (these are the instructions I used for my daughter's 701) but after I get it installed and attempt to start the app it crashes when I try to add my Google account. While searching I've stumbled onto the thread for the Polaroid AIO software several times but Southern Telecom (the company that makes the Polaroid tablets) doesn't offer the firmware for the PMID720 on their website.
I know that this is far from a high end tablet - it was purchased to watch a few videos, read some ebooks, and screw around on the web when I'm dead at work - but not having access to the Google Play store severly limits its usefulness (the Amazon store suuuucks). Any advice is appreciated and, again, thanks in advance for the help.

Google: "Installing Google Play without rooting on Android Mobiles or Tablets"
I cannot enter the url. I had the same exact problem as you. This method has worked for me (I also have PMID720 and got the same error as you when following the instructions that worked with earlier models).
While I was able to get Android Market installed, Google Services seemed to crash constantly. Also, none of the music apps running on the PMID720 recognized the playlists on my SD card (the same playlists that worked flawlessly on my old Emerson EMS543 and another Android device).
So, my solution was to return the PMID720 and exchange for a PMID705. Yes, it's slightly slower and less memory, but everything works: Android Market, Play Lists, etc... And, it was $30 cheaper.
I followed the instructions at:
http://www.the-digital-reader.com/2...ps-gplay-etc-on-polaroi-pmid701/#.UN48FG9X2WZ
The Play Store would say 'blah no data provisioning' or 'no reliable service...'.
I then went to Settings>Accessibility and at the bottom there is box to enhance web accessibility. I turned that on and launched the Market and followed the prompts. Afterwards a Google account was in my settings and I could access my apps at the Play Store. I then reset the Accessibility setting to 'Not Allowed' because I do not know what all it does.
I should also mention that I altered my '/etc/hosts' file, but I am not sure that was needed. I immediately downloaded the XDA app and saw your post. Wierd, huh?
Hope this helps.
Edit: I erased the google market and retried my steps and they failed. I had to install the apps in this order to get it to work again (I did leave the Accessiblity feature on again):
1) OneTimeInitializer-signed.apk
2) SetupWizard.apk
3) GoogleServicesFramework-signed.apk
4) vending-3.1.3-signed.apk
When I tried to connect with my gmail I got the same errors as above until I rebooted my tablet, it then finally connected. I sincerely hope this works for you. Also if you have installed any of the above, delete their data and reinstall.

That post will tell you all you need to know to get Google Play Store (the ICS version, whatever that was) on your PMID720. I just finished doing it, and it is working fine. If only my wireless at home was! lol
I used the wireless adb portion of the play_alpha2 package. It worked flawlessly, once I realized which copy I needed to download. They all have exactly the same name, but they're not all identical packages.
Good luck!

Updated method!!!
I can't be the only one out here still using this tablet and trying to figure out how to improve it! The Google Apps are still working just fine. No forced closes or errors of any kind. I am pleased as punch about this, but it's kinda frustrating to come in so late in the game and find nobody looking anymore.

Fire HD 7 4th Gen Google Play Store installation issues

MOD EDIT: Deleted the link to the old thread, since it was in the wrong section and has been closed. Thx.
Hi Folks,
I posted this in the general Kindle forum and it was suggested this was the proper forum to post in for this issue. Here's a paste of what I entered there:
Hello,
I'm using a Kindle Fire HD7 4th gen. I noticed most of the memory was taken up with bloatware, and my daughter could only fit about 5-10 games on it before it was full. So, I decided to root it to bring it to a lower version, which successfully freed up tons of memory. It is now using OS 4.5.3. I'm about 16-20 hours in on trying to install the Google Play Store and have hit every roadbloack imaginable. I have read probably every tutorial there is online on how to do so and how to resolve these errors and nothing has worked. Basically, I either get to the point where it asks for my credentials and then signs me into the store with only the left bar showing and the typical "Error retrieving information from server [DF-DFERH-01]" error on the right, or, just a spinning circle and no left sidebar.
I have tried downloading the very earliest versions of Google Account Manager, Services Framework, Google Play Services, and the Play store APKs as compared to the release date of the tablet. I have tried the earliest existing versions of all of these. I have also tried the very latest versions of each compatible with 4.5.3. I have cleared cache and data numerous times, reinstalled all mentioned versions of all four APKs (restarting the device between each round of reinstalling all 4 apks and before opening the play store icon). I have reinstalled them in the exact order every tutorial says it must be done it.
Does anyone know a definite series of these 4 apks that will install on this device with this OS version? I remember doing it years ago with no problem in the same model, but can't for the life of me get it to work this time. Or, even better, is there a more recommended non-bloated version of Android I could instead install over this whole beast? Even better if Play Store is already loaded in that, heh. Thanks so much ahead of time!
-R
In the original thread it was suggested I upgrade to OS5, but is it really not possible to get the play store on this OS? If I upgrade, will I be able to re-root? I suppose it may be even better if anyone could suggest the best replacement "normal" version of Android that is known working.
Thank very much!
