[q] Native SIP calling on ICS? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey All---a Q.
I really wanted to configure SIP calling through the native (inbuilt) client in ICS. However, since AOKP doesn't have a 'phone' app for the galaxy tab p4, I can't find where the internet calling settings would be!
Anyone have a thoughts / advice?
I'd really like to avoid having to run a separate app if I can. The native features work great on my galaxy nexus!
(I was rocking groove ip for a while, but the call quality sucks. like, unusable.)

[Q] Best VIOP softphone for Atrix ?

I have following so far
Application Call Quality
Fring - Somewhat better with old apk, new update doesn't work
Acrobits - Somewhat ok, usable
Linphone - Force Close
3CX - No Sound
csipsimple - hit or miss..doesn't work always
Does anybody know any softphone which work on Atrix consistently ?
I use VIOP account to make calls on wifi as well as 3g and facing lot of issues.
Search for line 2 voip. Should come up with line two. I haven't tried on my Atrix yet but I use it on my ipad. I think its a 30 day trial. Then buy.

Look for Groove IP. You will need a Google Voice Account though, but you get to make and receive free calls through Wifi or 3G. I don't know how to configure it for 3G since I only use it with wifi. I hope someone else can help you with this one.
+1 GrooveIP.
I've tried GrooveIP but it seems like people hear themselves better than they hear me..

Have not used it on my Atrix, but Sipdroid used to be my fav. Use it with PBXes and use any provider to do anything.

[Q] SIP Internet Calls over 3G/4G

I've tried some of the SIP apps, some of which worked OK, Csimple was the most reliable but iffy at best even on Wifi.
The built in SIP support seems good, perfect quality on Wifi, however it won't work over 4G or 3G.
Is there any known ways to get it to work on 4G/3G? I understand it will have an impact on quality, but I'd still like to test it.
Also, if it's not an option now, can a mod be made after root becomes available to allow built-in SIP over 4G/3G?
Thanks!
Since we now have S-OFF, any thoughts or feedback on being able to modify the phone to allow native android SIP/Internet calls over the 3G/4G network?
Still curious if anyone has looked at this. I'm sure more then a few people use SIP and would like to use the integrated SIP functions over a 3rd party app.
Does Google Voice support SIP? If so, I'd rather do all my calls over 3G if I could... that way I could have simultaneous voice/data on 3G

[Q] Using Google Voice to make phone calls? [Resolved]

Hey everyone, so as you can tell, the Galaxy Player 5 has the phone speaker grill and microphone placed just as if it was a phone. However, I can't seem to find a way to get Google Voice to allow making VoIP phone calls over the Galaxy Player since there isn't a native dialer app built into the phone (from what I can see).
Anyone know a fix around this? I use an AT&T unlimited non-smartphone data plan + DUN connect to have my Galaxy Player connected via the 3G HSDPA network 24/7 and I used it to make calls on my iPod touch prior to picking up a Galaxy. I would love to do the same with this more "Phone-like" device.
If this isn't possible since there isn't a dialer associated with this first "Android" non-phone devs, is there any chance to spoof it into thinking that there is a dialer app so it enables the "Call with Google Voice" function? Considering that it's only using VoIP and not an actual carrier network to carry the call through (unless I'm completely confused lol which is possible).
Thanks in advance!

If you get GrooveIP and combine it with the Google Voice app you can make and receive voice calls through a Google Voice account on the SGP. Many have had good results.
Yep. Get grooveip. It's a paid app but worth every penny. Works flawless.
Thanks both of you! Works great, well worth $5.

using androids native SIP for voip phone calls

hey everyone, so iv been using my notei717 for months now and im loving it! such a cool phone and now iv decided to sign up with a voip internet phone service to make phone calls. its a great way to phone call over the net for cheap, i suggest looking it up. so have any of you used any good apps for making voip phone calls? apparently android phones running 2.3 or higher should have a built in native SIP program. which basically means its an app to handle your voip phone calls. but i cant seem to find it in my note anywhere in the settings. i heard that android deleted it from another galaxy phone because of those big evil phone corporations putting pressure on android. hopefully not but thats what iv heard. .
SIP settings are in the phone app
I am running a different version from you, so YMMV. In my ICS phone (Android 4) I touch "Phone" and in the phone app I touch Menu >> Settings >> Internet Call Settings
I use csipsimple (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.csipsimple&hl=en). It has great dialer integration and is pretty smooth.
I've played with Google Voice & Groove IP, they are free. Well looks like the full vesion of groove ip is $4.99 now but I could have sworn it was once free.......

[Q] Configuring Native SIP Client in Galaxy S2 to work through at home Router.

As the title says.
I I have been trying to configure my galaxy s2 so I can use the default SIP client in the native dialer to make phone calls over my at home wifi connection.
So far the closest I have gotten is the phone will dial the number but then I get a time-out.
I can use the MajicJack app on the phone to make calls over this same wi-fi. But when I try to use the native dialer to make calls I cant get it to work.
Any ideas?
I currently use iptel.org as my sip account.
Im not sure if I need to port forward on my router? Or maybe Im not inputting the "optional settings" in properly in the native dialer settings. Anyone have any ideas?
Im still learning about how to do this stuff. Need to be noob friendly please.
