Can you put a quick summary to differentiate each ICS rom?
ICS and CM9 is obvious but how about
Bytecode VS williamcharles AOKP VS aspee AOSP
and
hephappy (now Arjen) CM9 VS lupohirp CM9

The base rom is ofc cm9 for all other roms..... Other developers used the necessary sources needed for porting those ROMs from lupohirp's cm9.
And, lupohirp, arjen and hep happy work on same project together. If they separately release their ROM, it doesn't mean its a different work, its in fact continuation of other team members' work..........
Byte code's Gummy rom is a customized version of ICS, with more features added by different developers........
William Charle's AOKP is too a highly customized version of ICS, with tons of changes and additions......Too much to post here!!
Aspee ported CNA, not aosp. CNA is again a modded and customized version of AOSP ICS.....
BUT FOR ALL OF THESE, THE BASE IS CM9 ...............
You can always google about these roms......
Hope this clears you.............

Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
dont misguide people by saying aokp and gummy are based on cm9..both are based on aosp..
all the ics rom share the same device, vendor and kernel tree with modifications pertaining to individual team...
when you say this rom is based on that rom, it means that you have ported the rom. here we have built from original sources.

Whose is misguiding people!!
By base I meant USING lupo, arjen and hephappy's cm9 sources for FIXING major bugs in your ROMs before building. Didn't you guys inclu their camera and tons of other fixes in your respective builds??
I know the common things in all ICS Roms, but the OP questioning here doesn't!! What if you say a newb--- This/that from has tons of mods in its core framework and jars, it's kernel has bacported KGSL drivers, it has a new touch screen driver, has KSM support, has bash, nano, etc etc....??!!
I JUST TALKED IN COMMON LANGUAGE FOR NON-DEVELOPERS!! EVERYONE HERE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THE VENDOR, DEVICE FOLDERS AND RELATED GIT JARGON!! DONT GET IT WRONG PLZ.!!!

Any chance for working "Phone.apk" when DPI is 145,150, 155 etc.?
All ROM look better with smaller DPI.

Man!!! Pls don't do this... asking these type of questions will only lead to unnecessary arguments...
plus, it is forbidden!!! As by the mods.
If u read some posts of individual rom's thread, u will definitely know the difference n what rom is capable of doing what... no offence pls.

Edit: Now CM7 is stable, can we plz get custom kernels
Old:
Kernel Devs refrain from making custom kernels for CM7 because the CM team asked them not to, in the alpha stage of the development.
Today i asked Atinm if he could give the green light to the Devs, he replied:
atinm said:
Actually, we don't care if people run other kernels. We just say that we will not debug other people's kernels - so if you have bugs, you go to the kernel developer's threads. Same as on the other Galaxy phones. And there is more chance of your phone being unstable with each nightly when you are on a different kernel and we change the kernel.

I had scaling issues with the stock kernel so i'm looking forward to this.
Great to see this.
I have 2questions.
1. Once we have these kernels will we be be able to flash files to enable Samsung stuff like Samsung dive, camera etc
2. Will new kernels be able to incorporate files from stock rom to fix the Bluetooth issue.
Thanks

CM 7.1 Stable has working bluetooth, and it wasn't a kernel issue, it was a driver source problem, Cyanogen either cracked it ahead of everyone else, or, got access to the missing source code, either way, winning like Charlie Sheen.
I have added my i9100 CyanogenMod 7.1 kernel with BLN support.
Details available here.

Correct, driver issues are not the same as the kernel.
I'd love to see some kernel supporting gpu oc-uv, it's a good feature for battery saving purposes imho.

And doomlord don't have Neo device...that's why he don't support kernel development for us....
And if he makes us kernel...then he must be development kernel also to "ray, mini, active"

Can someone port miui for LGP500 which is based on gingerbread 2.3.3? The one based on CM9 has many bugs(as based on cm9), so i think MIUI based on 2.3.3 may be bug free.

The MIUI v4 isnt a port from source, nor are there some available resources to it...
Everyone here is just porting the MIUI frameworks... porting the v4 is damn easy since its mostly just themed framework and editing the smalis get it to boot...
Real task is when we start with the MIUI 2.3.7 code...
2.3.7 has a patchROM source, but sadly it sucks since its nothing but the MIUI apk sources n framework smalis....
Lets see... Hope for the best...

Since you all know Lupo had compiled the best ICS for our devices and it's based on pure CM9 no other tweaks or stuff. That means also the kernel is stock-Lupo worked very hard to port everything we need for it to work.
Now here is my thought, Francisco also has his latest #4kernel based on stock2.35 but with some heavy preformance modifications...
So is there anyone else that would like to kindly ask Francisco or Team MAC for CM9 kernel based on #4?
All my thanks to:

It was much appreciated that you made a request but creating a new thread just for a single request traffics the forum/ section.
We will surely consider it but it would be kind of you if you yourself ask a moderator to delete this thread.
Now after 24th, we will be creating both a bug as well as request section for the users
You can post your request there.
Do Cyanogenmod Based ROMS use the same kernel as the original CM9 ROM? I wonder. Will, say the Flyme OS which is based on CM9 work on the original cm9 kernel? Or do they have some stuff modified?
It's a noobish question I know :/

When they create a CM-based ROM, what exactly do they change, besides the /app/ and /framework/ directory
Also, when you have a ROM based on say, FXP152. What exactly, does one do to update it to FXP202 or higher?
