Internal phone storage - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I thought our phone had 16 gigabytes of memory? My phone is only showing a little over 9 gb.
Sent from my EVO using XDA

I would like to know the answer to this as well. I have 2GB of dedicated app space and abour 10GB of total space showing. Where is the 16GB that is advertised?

i know every phone has a little bit less then advertised (due to rom size) but 6GB missing????? thats just...i mean the rom cant take up 6GB now...can it?
Sent From The Phone Of Gamers

this has been said many of times, even by sprint themselves, the rest is dedicated for ics and updates and stuff

What she said on the gn about 3-4 gigs is for os etc then a total 2gb for apps on the phone everything else is for whatever

16GB Unformatted giving around 14GB usable... Seems about right to me.

i guess you think the phone loads ics from the cloud

no look again. Total ram is 349.
Just like other platform
After reserving for operating system, hardware (like GPU and radio). It's what u have left. No big deal because u have pretty much left. 331MB of free RAM is plenty. You wont get that much on a 512MB device running Android
same here ...i have only total 349 mb ram why? The rest is using WP or what ?
See this is what I love about windows phone. That we don't actually have to worry about this. If that number lead to apps crashing all the time then we could call this an issue, but my phone works as is so I don't think its anything to worry about

[Q] App Storage Full - How to find what is taking all the space?

Today I got prompted that my App Storage is full and I needed to delete some apps. I went into my storage and it says I have 4GB in OTHER. What is other? Is there anyway to get into the phone storage with a file manager?

"Other" I believe is reserved for Rom/system files....kinda for updates and such. I guess the best way I can think of describing is if your Rom was 3gb big it would be put in that partition....so it's controlled by phone/manufacturer unless someone has a way to shrink that partition down, but haven't seen anyone mess with it yet...I think all roms lately have had that 4gb-ish block taken up...hope that clarifies it a bit. So unfortunately it's space that you can't really use.

[Q] Data retrieval from water-damaged phone?

Hey everyone,
I recently took my beloved Amaze for a swim in the Atlantic Ocean, and it no longer works. (duh, lol) I have some pictures saved on the internal memory of the phone that I would love to get back, by any means necessary. I know that on the HTC HD7, the internal memory was an actual micro SD card inside the phone. Would that be the case for the Amaze? And if not, are there any other ways that you guys can think of to access the data? Thanks for any and all suggestions you have.
Some info:
The phone won't connect to the computer via USB, nor will the orange charging light come on if power is applied. Thanks again.
You have but very few chances to get your pictures back. Even if you manage to power the phone, your internal memory could have been automatically formatted because the circuits were closed. Check this thread.
I could find no service manual on the Net, but I have a picture of my mother board, maybe someone will help you to localize the internal memory on it.

System ram?

I was looking over this application and noticed my ram says a total of 2.6gb. Does that give usable ram or is my ram under sized at 2.6gb?

I'm reading it as 2.6GB used, 405MB free out of a total of 3GB
Here is another shot of it. Still says 2.6
2.6 is probably about right you have to remember manufactures use 1000mb = 1gb where computers use 1024mb = 1gb that goes for KB to MB also

The reason for this is a portion of the RAM, it looks like 400MB is mapped to the graphics chip so your total usable ram for apps is less. This is common PCs as well where the graphics chip doesn't have dedicated ram.

MT6580M - Low internal memory (1GB only!) and can't repartition it

Hey!
My parents went to china and came back with two MediaTek phones. They though that they were cheper Samsung S7's, but that's clearly no the case
The thing is, they are still better than my old phone, except for one thing: the internal space.
Even though the phone says that there are 32GB total memory, I can barely install any app before running out of space. After some time I noticed that it only has 1.6GB internal memory (which half is already used by the system or something like this), but it is camouflaged as 32GB. For example, if an app with 160MB is installed, 3.2GB "avaliable" memory are used.
I did a big research into how to change this, assuming that there is actually more space on the fone and this was a partitioning error or if I could use an SD card as internal memory.
I was on my way trying the first strategy, but stopped after many errors (I was using MTK Droid Tool, but couldn't create scatter file to proceed).
Anyways, now that the background history is done, I'd like to know what could I possible do to use this phone. If I could only solve this memory problem, everything else is profit.
Any help?
