Hey guys,
I am stupid. I bought my international version i9100 on ebay. I dont know what it is from. After I root it, I lost the kernel. Now, I want to restore everything including the rom, the kernel to factory. What should I do?
Flash a Stock ROM via Odin to reset the phone.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it matters where the phone is from as long as you use Odin. If it for any reason wouldn't work you could always reflash it.

As stated above, it shouldn't really matter. On the other hand, if you really want the one for your country you could go to settings -> About phone -> scroll to the bottom...
write model number , android version, baseband version, kernel version and build number here to the forum, and I'll try my best to tell you which one you need

gr4ndm4st3r_bl4ck, I am a little confused. My phone is on android 2.3.4 now and I am looking to update it to 2.3.6, but kies keeps telling me there is no update for my phone. If I can flash a rom from any country, can I just grab a 2.3.6 rom for a country, say Brazil, and flash that rom?
In case you need it, these are the information I can get.
model number: GT-I9100
Android version: 2.3.4
Baseband version: I9100UHKI1
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9100CEKI2-CL586309 [email protected] #2
build number: gingerbread.UHKI2

k, you have the UH version of softwrae , UH---> Latin America, The Caribbean
Code:
UHKI2
Firmware info
PDA:UHKI2
PHONE: UHKI1
Date: 05/09/2011
Android 2.3.4
VNO (Venezeula):http://www.multiupload.com/PPOL25QMPX
TPA (Panama):http://www.multiupload.com/7XDK219V1W
TTT (Trinidad and Tobago):http://www.multiupload.com/GCKN3DOB13
UHKI2 Stock Kernel:http://www.multiupload.com/YZ8ZY4EYZ7
Password: [email protected]
That's the latest UH firmware in Intratech's thread ( 2.3.4 only ), if you want the entire ROM use one of the first 3 links, or if you want only the stock kernel then use the last link there.
Also, you could just ignore that UH ROM and flash the latest XW one ( Europe Standard ) from here :
Code:
XWKK5
Android 2.3.6
This package has: PDA: XWKK5| Modem/phone: XXKI3| CSC: XEUKH2
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/7FKGH0Y68X
XWKK5 Stock Kernel: http://www.multiupload.com/HK8G4YGXWJ
Password: [email protected]
After flashing it just set the language to your liking and you'll never notice any difference.
For instance, my S2 came with 2.3.4 Serbia CSC ROM and I flashed the XWKK5 one from above and it works perfect , no need to worry
Edit : PS, Kies will never tell you that a new update is ready , because Samsung didn't make it available on Kies yet, that's why we use Odin instead
Happy flashin

Glad you got what you wanted
Keep an eye on intratechs thread. The one you were linked to. He posts all the latest stock original carrier firmware so you won't have to wait a month next time.
If you have the I9100 international version you can use nearly any of the latest firmware even if your carrier hasn't released it yet.

Hi Guys and Gals. I am a noob trying to update my Galaxy s2 to ICS and have hit a brick wall. I received the message that an update was available and downloaded it OTA, but the install failed for some reason. When i plug in to Kies i get the " Device doesn't support software upgrades via Kies" message.
After a little searching it seems the main reason for this might be a modified Kernel. The phone is an unbranded XSA model and i have never modified it in anyway. I have no idea if the dealer did any modifications before shipping.
What i need to know is, how do i tell if it has a stock kernel or not, and do i need to re flash the entire firmware to get it.
This is all the info on the phone.
Baseband version I9100XXKI4
Kernel Version [email protected]#2
PDA I9100XWKK2
Phone I9100XXKI4
CSC I9100XSAKE3
Build Info Friday Nov 11 18:05:58 KST 2011
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated and sorry the lack of knowledge.
I believe it still is the stock kernel, also XXKI4 is a stock baseband version for Gingerbread. Looks like you didn't get updated. Best thing to do is do it on this website if you want the proper ICS experience, and not all of that Touchwiz nonsense Samsung loves.
Chris.
Unless you flash custom roms or kernels it always has Stock kernel .
Use CHECKFUS to see if their is an ICS update for your phone if not you wait or flash stock ICS roms from here .

Thanks for the replies. Just wondering what the issue with Kies would be? I am a little unsure as to which ICS version to get and also, what will happen to all my data, settings etc..
Backup your data factory reset phone and trie updates again .
Fails then flash stock firmware for your location from XDA ,

Get the correct official firmware version from samfirmwares.Com.
Flash using ODIN.

PDA: I9100XWKF3
PHONE:I9100DDKE4
csc:I9100ODDKF3

BASEBAND VERSION: I9100DDKE4
KERNEL VERSION: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKF3-CL276555 [email protected]#2

Have a look at this thread, they are all stok roms you need to download Odin and find the rom that fits with your country http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 try the 3rd post for 4.0.3 roms download the correct one and flash via Odin. After flash do a factory reset to clear out any old 2.3.3 stuff. Remember to backup your apps contacts etc first.
XWLPF appears to be the most recent one for you just confirm you are using a Samsung i9100 and not i9100g.
Hi, about last year I put XXLPB on my samsung galaxy s2. Now that Bell has officially released the 4.0.3 ICS I want to put that on my phone but now I can not because its is not on the same firmware. I have downloaded so many thing and tried many different ways, and still nothing. I can always only go back to XXLPB for some reason. Does anyone know how to go from XXLPB 4.0.3 to the original bell settings even 2.3.3 is fine. I want to use kies to manually update to the newest bell 4.0.3 or even if there is a way to use odin. I would appreciate any help to get from XXLPB 4.0.3 to the bell settings for 4.0.3
My phone settings atm:
Model Number - GT-I9100
Android Version - 4.0.3
BaseBand version - I9100XXLPB
Kernel Version - 3.0.15-I9100XXLPB-CL99600
[email protected]@SEI-44 #3
Build Number - IML74.XXLPB
Any help would be appreciated as I am really confused at this point

also chk dis

I had the same problem. What I did was to flash the Gingerbread firmware from this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458
Firmware: http://hotfile.com/dl/145794821/d1be1d6/I9100XXKI3.zip.html
Then, I was able to update my phone to UGLD3 through ODIN.
I was not able to go directly from UGKG2 to UGLD3 for some reason. It gave me the Panic Mode each time.
Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question. When I first bought my UK unlocked I9100, it had Gingerbread on it. I then upgraded to the stock 4.0.3 ICS and then rooted with CF-Root v.5.4 LP7 as per instructions posted here on XDA.
Here are my current stats now...
I9100XWLP7
baseband version: I9100XXLPS
kernel version: 3.0.15-I9100XWLP7-CL340913
[email protected] #3
build number: IML74K.XWLP7
CF-Root v5.4 LP7
Yesterday, I got an automatic notification on my phone telling me there is a software update. I'm assuming this is the same thing as the stock 4.0.4 firmware posted on these forums...
I9100XWLPT
Base Firmware: I9100XWLPT (4.0.4)
Region: Europe
Country United Kingdom / Ireland
Carrier: Unbranded
Build Date: 27 July 2012
Modem: XXLQ6
CSC: XEULPA
Change List: 941023
Can I upgrade by hitting OK on the phone to the automatic update or by doing it through Kies? Will it break the root, or worse screw up the phone because it was rooted? If it just undoes the root without doing damage, how would I re-root? If it keeps the root intact, that would be the ideal situation.
Thanks!
It will break root. But if you make update, never use CWM on stock kernel (hardbrick bug enabled).
You can re-root by flashing CF-Root.

Thanks for the quick reply. So if I stick with stock firmwares and CF-root, I don't have to worry about bricking, right? I assume the instructions in the first post of this thread is what I need to follow...

From what I understand, I can either upgrade via Kies or flash the same firmware that's listed in the forums. And then when I root, I take it I follow these steps...
Instructions For Rooting ICS :
Extract the Rooted Kernel
Open the included Odin
Put your device into Download MODE
Click PDA and select CF-Root-SGS2_*-v5.3-CWM5.tar
Then finally click START!
From this page...

does one need to re root every time there is a update ?
sorry if this is a silly Q but this is my first android based phone
